Fall baking would not be complete without caramel apples! This timeless dessert is perfect for any holiday party or celebration, and they’re really easy to make. With just a few ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have these delicious treats ready to enjoy. We are confident that this classic fall dessert will quickly become one of your family’s favorite recipes.

A CLASSIC FALL DESSERT FOR ANY OCCASSION
GRANNY SMITH CARAMEL APPLES
ingredients:

1. Rinse and thoroughly dry apples and insert a caramel apple stick.
7 small Granny Smith apples 15 oz. caramels 3 Tbsp heavy cream *Various toppings, such as chopped pecans or peanuts
2. Line a 13 x 9-inch baking sheet with non-stick parchment paper, set in fridge. 3. Place caramels and heavy cream in a microwave safe bowl. 4. Heat in microwave in 30 second increments, stirring between intervals until melted and smooth.

5. Dip and rotate apples one at a time and let excess run off, then run bottom of apple along inside edge of the bowl to remove excess caramel. 6. To get the caramel to run up the apple, lift it and turn it upside down and then immediately roll the apple in toppings. 7. Turn the apples upright and place them on a baking sheet in the fridge, repeat the process with the remaining apples. 8. Let the caramel set for about 30 minutes in the fridge before serving.

The cooler temperature makes outdoor activities more pleasant than in the spring or summer. You won’t be too hot or cold — it’s ideal weather for sightseeing across the Texas Hill Country. The fall foliage is also spectacular, and thankfully, there are less bugs! From hiking and kayaking to stargazing, there are many family-friendly outdoor
activities to enjoy in West Austin during this time of year. The harvest season is also here, so there’s an abundance of local produce such as apples, pears, and pumpkins available for a delicious picnic while watching the sunset. It’s a wonderful opportunity to unwind in the outdoors before the holiday rush starts. So get out there and enjoy all that West Austin has to offer this fall!

If you’re looking for a beautiful trail that is perfect for all ages, the Hamilton Greenbelt located in the City of Lakeway is a great option. Not to be confused with the popular Hamilton Pool Preserve, Hamilton Greenbelt’s scenic location offers stunning views of the autumn foliage, as well as a variety of activities to keep you busy. The well-maintained trail is great for beginners, making it a popular spot for locals and visitors.
This 2.7-mile out-and-back trail is perfect for walking, running, biking, or bird-watching, and designated areas are allowed for picnicking. If you want to go on a tiny adventure, there are a few small waterfalls to see along the route. No matter what you do, you’re sure to have a memorable experience. Praline Pecan Crunch Snack Mix Ingredients • 8 cups brown sugar or cinnamon cereal squares • 1 cup pecan halves • 1/3 cup light corn syrup • 1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar • 3 tablespoons butter • 1 teaspoon vanilla • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda • 2 cups white chocolate-covered pretzels • 1 cup salted peanuts • 2 packages of large waffle cones or paper bags Instructions 1. Heat oven to 250°F. Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking pan with non-stick cooking spray. Combine cereal and pecans in pan and set aside. 2. In a 4-cup microwaveable bowl, combine corn syrup, brown sugar and butter spread. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute 30 seconds. Stir. Microwave 30 seconds to 1 minute 30 seconds or until boiling. 3. Stir vanilla and baking soda into mixture. Pour over cereal mixture; stir to coat evenly. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes. Spread on baking sheet and cool completely; break into pieces. When cooled, add peanuts and pretzels. Makes about 10-11 cups. Store tightly covered.
