LIFESTYLE LETTER
Style Tells Your Story Style is so much more than the clothes we wear. It's a reflection of who we are—a way of expressing our personality, passions, and values without saying a word. It's the spark, the thoughtful detail, or the unexpected choice that sets us apart and makes us memorable. Each of us has our own unique style. Sometimes it's found in a favorite outfit that gives us confidence. Other times it's in the way we design our homes, create inviting workspaces, or gather around a beautifully set table with family and friends. Style is woven into our everyday lives, from the décor we choose to the food we serve, the cocktails we craft, and the little touches that make ordinary moments feel extraordinary. Explore the many ways style comes to life across our community. Discover inspiring fashion, beautiful interiors, creative design ideas, and emerging trends that offer new ways to express yourself. Meet new local people and businesses whose creativity and passion remind us that true style is never one-size-fits-all. Style isn't only about what we see—it's about how we make others feel. It's the confidence we carry into a room when we're authentically ourselves. It's taking pride in our own story rather than trying to imitate someone else's. Sometimes, the most unforgettable expression of style isn't found in a designer label or a perfectly decorated space—it's found in an unexpected act of kindness, genuine hospitality, or the warmth of a welcoming smile. This issue celebrates the beautiful variety that makes our community so special. Every home, every business, every family, and every individual brings something different to the fabric of the Greater Weatherford community. Those differences are what make our hometown vibrant, inspiring, and uniquely ours. As you turn these pages, I hope you're inspired to embrace your own style, celebrate what makes you unique, and appreciate the creativity that surrounds us every day. Here's to expressing yourself with confidence—and remembering that the most timeless style is simply being authentically you.

A Heart-to-Heart Conversation With a Local Country Musician Helping Families Find Their Happy Place
Homegrown Harmony On any given Thursday at Smitty’s honky tonk in Aledo, you’ll find Kristin Carroll perched upon the stage bathed in the glow of neon lights. With a classic six-string guitar in tow, her sound is unmistakably country. Legendary songwriter Harlan Howard once aptly described this genre as “three chords and the truth”. “For me, it’s got to sound like true country music,” she explains. “I love those simple three-chord melodies.” These cadences are etched into the rhythms of her soul. Kristin’s mother performed on Canadian television and radio. Her father once won an Everly

The renovation of her first house spurred on a lifelong curiosity and opened the door to a career that has since spanned the real estate industry. Over the years, Kristin has worked as a loan officer and as a licensed real estate agent, giving her a rare understanding of the purchasing process. Now on her second stint in North Texas, this time as a mortgage loan officer, Kristin is ignited by that same joy that once inspired her as a novice homebuyer. “There’s nothing more exciting than buying your first home,” she says. “I want to see people do what I was able to accomplish.” Whether Kristin is helping a family finance their dream home through Supreme Lending or filling a dance f loor with the twang of country music, she has made a career of bringing people joy. Brothers’ competition as a teenager. The pair played across Canada and had their own band. Growing up watching their artistry awakened her love for music. “I was born into this world. In a way, music was my birthright,” remarks Kristin with a smile. Kristin, who has the approachable air of our Canadian neighbors, adopted Texas as her home state when her parents moved to the Bedford area, where she graduated from high school. Kristin later married and moved back to Canada for 18 years to raise two young children. In the late 1990s, Kristin purchased her first home as a fledgling 22-year-old. It was her first exposure to real estate. “I was so young when I became a homeowner,” she remembers. “We learned how to do everything from electrical to plumbing and drywall. Anything I had a vision to accomplish, it had to be done with our own two hands.” S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C OM/WE AT HE R F O R D

“I don’t sing because I like to hear myself,” she explains. “I sing because I know how music made me feel growing up, and to be able to pay that forward to other people is my heart. OLD WALL, NEW TRICKS HANG UP THE OLD WAY AND TRY A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM IN YOUR HOME.
ARTICLE BY PAM REID
One of my happy places is sitting in front of a museum wall gallery. I can admire art for hours, and if I’m with a friend, there’s no telling how long we’ll sit, reflect, and share our individual perspectives. If you’ve admired gallery wall displays in magazines, catalogs, or on social media and would like to create one in your home, it’s much easier than you might think.
WHY CHOOSE A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM? The beauty of a gallery wall hanging system lies in its flexibility and ease of use. Traditional picture hanging methods can leave walls full of holes, making it cumbersome to adjust placements or update the display. A hanging system, however, allows for easy adjustments without additional damage to your walls. This feature is particularly advantageous for renters or anyone who likes to refresh their decor frequently.
DESIGNING YOUR GALLERY WALL The first step in creating a gallery wall is planning. Start by selecting a theme or color scheme that complements your space. Themes can be as varied as black-and-white photographs, abstract paintings, or a mix of personal and artistic prints.
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED: • A gallery wall hanging system, which typically includes mounting rails, cables or rods, and hooks. You can find them pretty much anywhere, online or at your local home improvement store. • A collection of frames and artwork. • A level, measuring tape, and perhaps a laser pointer for precision.
22

INSTALL ATION TIPS: CREATIVE ARRANGEMENTS • The arrangement of your gallery wall can follow several patterns, depending on your taste: • Linear: Artworks are hung in a straight line at eye level, creating a clean and orderly appearance. • Grid: Perfect for a collection of similarly sized frames, this layout emphasizes structure and uniformity. • Salon Style: This more traditional arrangement involves layering pieces closely together, often extending across the wall. It’s ideal for creating a rich, filled look. Enjoy curating a space that is uniquely yours, evolving with your tastes and lifestyle.
01
MEASURE YOUR SPACE:
Carefully measure the wall space where you want to install the gallery. Consider the height and width available, keeping in mind furniture and other room features.
02
LAY IT OUT:
Arrange your artwork on the floor to finalize your layout. This “dry run” is crucial to get a feel for how the pieces will interact with one another. I like to use painter’s tape to create a visual of what my display will look like on the walls.
03
INSTALL THE RAILS AND HANG YOUR ART:
Following the manufacturer’s instructions, mount the rails at the top of your wall. Ensure they are level and securely attached. Attach cables or rods to the rails, then use hooks to hang your frames. The beauty of the system is that you can adjust the height and position of each piece easily.
04
BALANCE AND SYMMETRY:
Step back to view your layout from different angles. Adjust the spacing and alignment as needed to achieve visual balance.

A Brighter Autumn Palette Personalized Color Analysis and Trending Styles for a Confident Fall Wardrobe As the weather begins to cool and subtle autumnal colors appear in the canopies of trees, it’s time to swap the summer styles for fall fashion pieces. Whether your wardrobe could use an update or you’re searching for styles that make you feel confident and fabulous, finding your perfect color palette may be the solution. Alyce Bixby’s journey toward becoming a certified stylist began early in life. “My mother had a professional color analysis when I was about 11,” she shares, “and I watched the confidence it gave her for years afterward. Seeing that made a lasting impression on me.” With 30 years of experience in the beauty industry, Alyce’s move to open House of Colour Weatherford was more

than a business venture. It offered the chance to truly impact lives. “What I love most about my work at House of Colour isn’t the clothes and fashion—though that is fun as it’s ever-changing—it’s the people,” Alyce emphasizes. “The greatest joy is watching someone see themselves differently.” Trends this season point towards simple elegance through pieces that are easy to style and comfortable to wear. Rather than sticking with familiar colors, fabrics, and textures, clients are encouraged to find the styles that suit them individually. For the fall season, aside from the traditionally warm, autumnal tones—like plum wine, rosy brown, and foundational neutrals—seasonal color trends will depend on individual palettes. For those who pair well with warmer colors—springs and autumns—moss green, mint, and lime may be lighter choices. Winters and summers, too, may choose brighter shades like misty blue, rose, or lavender. These lighter options steer wardrobes away from exclusively dark shades and give clients options for a varied, fresh look. Textures also play a role. A piece made from soft velvet, tweed, suede, or faux fur provides another

Accents such as pearl details and statement buttons make any look feel polished and sophisticated. Coats, capes, and ponchos offer more than warmth. These outerwear selections act as central statement pieces, pulling styles together. The steady hum of industrial sewing machines, towering walls of fabric swatches, and the unmistakable scent of leather are part of the ambience at Collins Custom Interiors. For owner Rick Collins, these surroundings are home. Founded in 1960 by Rick’s father, Jackie Collins, the family business has been restoring and reinventing furniture for more than

six decades. Rick grew up handing his father tools and learning the trade one stitch at a time before purchasing the business in 1984. After relocating from Colleyville to Weatherford four years ago, Collins Custom Interiors continues a legacy of fine craftsmanship. “People don’t reupholster furniture to get by,” Rick says. “They do it to get exactly what they want.” In a time increasingly filled with mass-produced, disposable furniture, Rick believes custom upholstery offers lasting quality and complete personalization. Many furniture stores often lack capacity for these options. Whether restoring a cherished family heirloom or transforming a newly purchased sofa, every project begins with understanding the client’s vision. Some customers want to preserve a treasured piece in its
original form, while others are looking to reinvent it with updated fabrics and colors. Thousands of material samples line the showroom, allowing clients to create furniture that perfectly complements their homes and lifestyles. “We can take an old piece, rebuild it, and make it better than it was when it was new,” Rick explains. That commitment to craftsmanship has led to some unforgettable projects over the years. One client purchased a brand-new sectional from a furniture store and had it delivered directly to Rick before it ever entered her home. She loved the design but couldn’t find the quality materials she desired. Rick and his team stripped the sofa down and completely reupholstered the brand-new piece, creating precisely what she had envisioned. CONTINUED > S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . While furniture remains the cornerstone of the business, Collins Custom Interiors’ expertise extends well beyond living rooms. The team restores boat interiors, aircraft seating, convertible tops, canvas projects, leather goods, and even treasured baseball gloves. Rick laughs that the company’s greatest challenge is explaining just how many different things they can do. For him, every project shares a common underpinning of preserving quality instead of replacing it. “It’s satisfying doing something that most people can’t,” he says. As the ancient art of upholstery becomes an increasingly rare trade, Rick hopes more people will rediscover the value of restoring and investing in pieces designed to last for generations. For families hoping to preserve heirlooms or homeowners searching for furniture as unique as their personal style, Rick continues to prove that true craftsmanship never goes out of style.
Collins Custom Interiors welcomes both walk-in visitors and scheduled appointments. Stop by the showroom at2105 FM 920, Suite 107, Weatherford, TX 76088, to browse thousands of fabric and leather samples, or discuss your project. CollinsCustomInteriors.com.

1 bottle, standard size, of pinot grigio 2 1/2 cups fresh apple cider 1 cup club soda 1/2 cup ginger brandy 3 honey crisp apples, chopped 3 pears, chopped
DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients together and stir. Refrigerate for an hour or so (or longer) before serving. The drink can be enjoyed immediately, if desired, but the longer you let the ingredients sit and mix, the deeper the flavors will be. Giving it time to develop will make the drink more captivating and interesting.
NOTE: Regular brandy can be used, but ginger brandy gives it an extra kick of flavor.
