Celebrating the Women Who Shape Our Community
Dear Readers,
As we step into May, my heart is so full as we dedicate this issue of City Lifestyle to the women who shape, strengthen, and inspire the Greater Weatherford community every single day.
This issue is dedicated to the incredible women around us — the entrepreneurs building their businesses, the leaders guiding others, and the many women who quietly give their time, energy, and heart to serve and support our community. From storefronts to nonprofits, the impact you make truly matters and does not go unnoticed.
What inspires me most is how so many of you are not only pursuing excellence in what you do but also lifting others along the way. Whether it’s mentoring, giving back, or simply showing up for someone in need, those acts create a ripple effect that makes this community so special.
I also want to say how incredibly thankful I am for the women business owners who are my partners and part of the City Lifestyle family. Your support truly means the world to me, and I am so grateful to be able to help promote your business while building something meaningful together for our community.
To every woman reading this — thank you. Thank you for your strength, your generosity, and your heart. You are seen, you are appreciated, and you are so deserving of being celebrated.
I say this often, but I truly mean it — I am continually amazed by how much people in this area care for one another and give back so generously. It’s the reason I am so grateful to call this special part of Texas home.

MORE THAN A BOUTIQUE
THE CLASS ACT ON THE GRANBURY SQUARE IS REDEFINING SMALL-TOWN FASHION
ARTICLE BY JESSICA CRANDALL LAWRENCE PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
On any given afternoon in Granbury, the historic square hums with tourists, girls’ trips, and locals who understand that shopping here is an experience. Tucked inside a storied building with leaded-glass windows, which was once home to a famed restaurant, Carol Behringer has created something remarkable. In just four years, she has transformed The Class Act into a small fashion empire.
But long before Granbury, there was Dallas.
“I started in 2003 selling jewelry and accessories,” Carol recalls. “I did trunk shows and events in people’s homes. It was very successful.”
She expanded into Fort Worth before eventually returning to her hometown of Waco to include her mother in the business, where she rented a six-foot jewelry case inside a collection of shops called Spice Village. From that modest footprint, she steadily grew, moving locations within the building, adding clothing, and ultimately landing the most coveted spot among more than forty businesses.
When Carol arrived in Granbury, there was distinct opportunity. She began by renting a space off the square and ultimately moved into her current historic storefront last year. Since then, growth has been swift.
“No one was doing what I was doing,” she remembers. “Now it’s like a freight train going down the track. The Class Act is shipping everywhere now. I never dreamed this big.”
With more than 70 percent of her customers new to the store daily, Carol has cultivated a destination boutique. Women travel just to be styled by her. She recalls one group that drove from five hours away just to be outfitted for the National Finals Rodeo. The boutique carries exclusive highend lines alongside menswear, private-label pieces, and denim brands also sold at Nordstrom but for less.
The Class Act’s jewelry cases sparkle with eye-catching pieces, and soon Carol will announce some exciting news for the upstairs loft. Yet despite the elevated aesthetic, Carol is adamant that luxury does not have to mean unattainable pricing.
The true heart of The Class Act’s success is not the unmatched inventory. The charm of this store lies in a deeper transformation.
“My specialty is styling people,” Carol explains. “Imagine you’re in a restaurant and a strikingly beautiful woman walks through the door. I want my clients to be that woman.”
Carol invites clients to play with fashion by layering earrings, jackets, and boots. She will snap a photo so they can see themselves through her lens. They are often overwhelmed by the result.
“So many women tell me about all their flaws,” she says with a pause. “I don’t see any of that.”
Whether it’s a cocktail party, a cruise, or a rodeo, Carol approaches each fashion request with joy. Champagne flows, laughter follows, and women leave feeling celebrated.
Granbury itself has been named one of the top Hallmark towns in the country in recent years, and Carol’s boutique is part of that charm. She studies trends, sources from Las Vegas and beyond, and nurtures long-standing exclusive relationships with designers.
“I lead. I don’t follow,” she says. “And my favorite part? Making someone feel pretty when they walk out my door. I am truly living my dream.”

INSPIRING Community Growth
THE PARKER COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CELEBRATED 30 YEARS OF LOCAL IMPACT AT THE ANNUAL AWARDS GALA
There are few organizations that contribute as much to the economic development and growth of communities as the local chambers of commerce. By always being pro-business, offering member services, spotlighting events, ribbon cuttings, networking meetups, and continued support for local businesses, these organizations are focused on putting the interests of the community first.
The Parker County Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated 30 years of supporting community growth at their awards gala, where the theme was: “Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.”

While the event honored and celebrated the past, it also looked to the future and the promising path for continued growth in Parker County’s business and economic sectors.

Finding Home
How Jamie Bodiford Paired Local Roots and a Heart for Service to Become One of Weatherford’s Most Trusted Real Estate Professionals
ARTICLE BY JESSICA CRANDALL LAWRENCE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARA GIDDENS JACOBS
There are careers that we pursue, and then there are callings that seem to find us. For Jamie Bodiford, real estate was unmistakably the latter. Long before she ever held a license, she was already doing the work instinctively by connecting people.
She recalls a moment in the late 1990s that, in hindsight, feels life-changing. Sitting in a nail salon in Hurst as a rare Texas snowstorm rolled in, Jamie struck up a conversation with a woman longing to move to Weatherford. As she described her dream home, Jamie realized it perfectly matched a friend’s house that had just hit the market that very day. A phone call was made, and by the next day, the home was under contract.
It was a glimpse into what would become Jamie’s passion. After five years in banking, she made it official by earning her real estate license and stepping into a new career.
Twenty-five years later, Jamie has become one of the most sought-after agents in North Texas. She has built a reputation rooted in consistency. Among more than 1,400 agents across 22 Texas offices and five in Oklahoma, she has been recognized as a top agent three times and has remained in the top one percent nationally for Century 21 in sales for 20 years.
Jamie is what many would describe as a warm force of a woman. Her background reads like a masterclass in preparation, with ten years as a Congressional staff member, eight years working for a Texas State Senator, a paralegal certification
“The Weatherford market is one of the most soughtafter in DFW. People are drawn to the quality of life, the schools, the lower taxes, and of course, the beauty of the land.”
from the University of Texas at Arlington, and professional experience with both Stewart Title and Citizens National Bank. Each role sharpened her ability to listen, problem-solve, and guide people through complex decisions.
“It was the perfect storm,” she reflects. “I was being prepared for real estate without even knowing it.”
At the heart of Jamie’s business is a philosophy centered on care. Jamie approaches every client relationship with intention, whether helping buyers envision their future or guiding sellers through what can often be a time-sensitive process.
“I love understanding what my clients need—not just today, but down the road,” she says. “This isn’t like buying a car. It’s a process, and it’s personal.”
Her strategy is thoughtful. She uses targeted marketing, open houses, agent networking, and active participation in the Parker County Tour Group, where local agents meet weekly to share insights and tour listings. It’s a collaborative spirit that reflects her broader belief in community over competition.
“The Weatherford market is one of the most sought-after in DFW,” Jamie explains. “People are drawn to the quality of life, the schools, the lower taxes, and of course, the beauty of the land.”
With its sandy loam soil ideal for the horse industry, rolling terrain, and welcoming atmosphere, Parker County continues to attract both longtime Texans and newcomers seeking a simple but good life.
Jamie doesn’t just sell in this community. She serves it. Her involvement spans decades, including time on the Weatherford School Board of Trustees, Weatherford City Council, and the Parker County Hospital District. She remains active with organizations such as the Chandor Gardens Foundation, Weatherford College Foundation, and the Historical Commission. For her, civic engagement is not a checkbox; it’s a responsibility and a passion.
“It’s a place of pride.
A refuge at the end of the day. Whether it’s a bungalow, a suburban home, or a ranch, it’s your happy place.”
“You have to be invested in the place you work,” she says. “People want to know you care about their community as much as they do.”
That same sense of connection extends into her personal life, and most notably in how she met her husband, Michael Brinkley. A real estate attorney with a deep foundation in Weatherford, Michael shares both her professional world and her values. Married just two years after she entered the business, he has been a steady and supportive partner ever since.
“He understands the demands of this career,” Jamie says with a smile. “And he supports me in every way.”
Together, they share a love of history and travel, currently working their way through visits to U.S. Presidential museums across the country. Closer to home, Jamie is focused on raising funds for the restoration of the Speaker Jim Wright Museum. It’s a project she believes is essential to preserving Parker County’s rich heritage.
Through it all, her definition of home remains beautifully effortless.
“It’s a place of pride,” she says. “A refuge at the end of the day. Whether it’s a bungalow, a suburban home, or a ranch, it’s your happy place.”
Jamie Bodiford is a top real estate agent with Century 21 Judge Fite in Weatherford. She is often seen around town with her beloved border collie, Flare II. You can contact her by calling (817) 269-4597. century21.com

BECKY HILLYARD
From Side Hustle to Style Empire
The power of taste, trust, and the courage to “just start.”
She didn’t have a business plan, a media budget, or even a name anyone could pronounce. What Becky Hillyard had was taste, a young family, and the instinct to just start. Today, her lifestyle brand Cella Jane commands an audience the size of Vogue’s, she’s nine collections strong with Splendid, and she’s built it all while raising three kids — refusing to sacrifice one for the other. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Becky shares what it really takes to build a brand, a career, and a life you love. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full conversation.
Q: WHEN DID YOU KNOW CELLA JANE WAS MORE THAN A HOBBY?
A: Two moments. Women started emailing me saying they bought something I recommended and felt amazing — asking me to help them find a dress for a wedding. That felt incredible. Then I looked at my affiliate numbers for one month and realized I could cover our mortgage. I thought, I can actually do this. I never set out to build a business. I started it because I genuinely loved it.
Becky in Splendid x @CellaJaneBlog Spring 2026 Collection
Q: WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU EVER TOOK WITH THE BRAND?
A: Designing my own collection. It’s easy to point at items on a website and say I love these. But to create something from scratch, put your name on it, and wait to see if people connect with it — that’s terrifying. I had an incredible partner in Splendid, and women loved the pieces. It was the biggest risk and the biggest accomplishment.
Q: HOW HAS INFLUENCER MARKETING CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?
A: When I started, brands didn’t know whether to take it seriously. Now it’s a legitimate line item in their marketing budgets — sometimes bigger than TV. Because what we’ve built is trust. People trust a real recommendation from someone they follow far more than a commercial. There’s no question about it now.
Q: YOU’RE A MOM OF THREE RUNNING A FULL BRAND. WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?
A: I try to get up at five and not hit snooze — that first hour before the house wakes up is the most productive, most peaceful hour of my day. Then it’s all hands on deck with the kids and school drop-off. After that I work — planning content, connecting with my team, editing. After pickup, the day shifts completely and it’s all about them. I’ve learned to protect both halves fiercely, because both matter.
Q: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BUILD SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN BUT KEEPS WAITING?
A: Don’t wait. Don’t wait for the perfect camera, the right strategy, or enough followers. We find every excuse to stay comfortable. Just start, be consistent, and be authentically yourself. The right people will find you — and they’ll stay.
This conversation is just the beginning. Becky goes deeper on the risks that almost stopped her, the design process behind her latest Splendid collection, and what she’d tell her 2012 self today. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on the Share the Lifestyle Podcast.
“Trust is the only metric that actually compounds.”

A CALLING TO CARE
Careity Foundation is Ensuring That No Cancer Patient Faces the Journey Alone
ARTICLE BY JESSICA CRANDALL LAWRENCE PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
For Lyn Walsh, the mission behind Careity Foundation began with an intimate family cancer diagnosis at a young age that molded the direction of her life.
The inspiration for Careity traces back to the strength of two remarkable women: Walsh’s mother and the mother of her
Beverly Branch, Ventriloquist Gloria Gilbert-Barron, and Lyn Walsh
“Meaningful work like this is never accomplished alone. It requires collaboration, trust, and people who truly care.”
co-founder, Beverly Branch. Both women were deeply rooted in service, always looking for ways to uplift others in their communities. But both families were soon confronted with the painful reality of cancer.
Beverly’s mother, Mary Branch, battled an aggressive form of breast cancer for four years. The fight brought countless doctor’s visits, chemotherapy treatments, radiation, experimental therapies, and the emotional toll that accompanies a long illness. After years of courage, Mary passed away. Only six months later, Walsh also lost her own mother to lung cancer after surviving thyroid cancer at a young age.
“Losing our mothers only six months apart was a defining moment for both of us,” Walsh remembers. “It strengthened our commitment to helping families facing the same difficult journey.”
Even though neither family had financial concerns regarding this diagnosis, they were sympathetic to patients who aren’t acknowledged by the
system due to financial concerns and the slow speed of action that would ultimately cause major stress in the recovery process.
Today, Careity Foundation serves uninsured and underinsured individuals across North Texas, helping patients navigate the often overwhelming path that follows a cancer diagnosis. Careity is unique in being a hands-on nonprofit that assists with cancer screenings, diagnostic testing, biopsies, and comprehensive patient support programs. They can even help navigate the needs of the insured.
For Walsh, the work is not simply about providing services. It is about walking alongside people during one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.
“Cancer is not a single moment. It is a long and often overwhelming journey,” she explains. “Patients are managing medical decisions, emotional stress, financial pressures, and family responsibilities all at the same time.”

Careity Foundation Survivor Luncheon
One of Careity’s most significant contributions is personal support. When patients call, they speak with someone who listens with empathy during moments of fear and uncertainty.
The Careity team includes social workers, nurse navigators, intake specialists, massage therapists, and pastoral support who collaborate closely with physicians and hospitals throughout the region. Together, they guide patients through treatment decisions while helping them access resources that might otherwise feel out of reach.
One such story is that of Sherry Barrett of Weatherford. During the early days of the COVID pandemic, Barrett’s husband had lost his job, their health insurance disappeared, and the family faced the possibility of selling their home. Amid the stress, a scan had revealed a mass that needed immediate attention.
With no insurance and no clear path forward, Barrett called Careity. What happened next surprised her.
Within hours, the Careity team had arranged and paid for a diagnostic mammogram appointment the following Monday. When the diagnosis was confirmed, they continued to guide her through each step of treatment, connecting her with physicians and ensuring she was not alone in the process.
“Having them get on it like that was unexpected,” Barrett later shared. “I felt so loved and so blessed. They took my fear and gave me hope.”
Stories like Barrett’s are what continue to motivate Walsh every day. She credits the dedication of volunteers, physicians, and community partners who rally around Careity’s mission.
“When you are serving people facing difficult circumstances, it’s essential to understand their needs before offering solutions,” Walsh explains. “Meaningful work like this is never accomplished alone. It requires collaboration, trust, and people who truly care.”
Looking ahead, Walsh and Branch hope Careity will continue strengthening the support network available to cancer patients and their families. Community partnerships, volunteers, and events play a vital role in sustaining the organization’s work.
What began with the loss of two beloved mothers has grown into a mission built on compassion, service, and hope, while ensuring that no one in North Texas has to face cancer alone.
