Step away from life's distractions and enjoy fun, faith and fellowship

Home Is the People

Home is so much more than a place. It’s a feeling, a sense of belonging, and a reflection of where—and with whom—your life is unfolding.

Over the last 35 years, I’ve lived in more than ten homes across the DFW area. Some were chapters of growth, some of transition, some of reinvention. Each house was different, but one thing remained constant: a house alone never made it home.

What made each place meaningful were the people inside it—and the community outside its doors. I’ve learned that home is defined by relationships, shared values, and the way a town makes you feel.

That’s why coming back to the Weatherford area feels different. This time, it feels like coming home for good. After years of living throughout DFW, I returned with the hope—and intention—that this would be my forever place. Not because of a particular house, but because of the heart of this community. Weatherford, Brock, Hudson Oaks, and Willow Park are places where people still wave, show up, support one another, and take pride in where they live. Here, neighbors become friends. Businesses are built on trust. Community really means something.

This publication was created to reflect exactly that. City Lifestyle is about the people who shape this place—the business owners who pour their hearts into their work, the families who invest in this community, and the leaders who quietly make life better for those around them.

As you turn these pages, you’ll find stories rooted in connection, purpose, and pride of place. You’ll meet neighbors who inspire, businesses that serve with integrity, and spaces that reflect the character of the people who built them.

Because in the end, home is the people, stories, and the sense of belonging that makes you say, this is where I’m meant to be

Welcome home.

THEY’RE THE GOOD GUYS

Lightfoot Mechanical’s Legacy of Service in Weatherford

In the picturesque town of Weatherford, where distinction is still cultivated over time, Lightfoot Mechanical has become a trusted fixture in everyday life. Known for dependable service and long-standing relationships, the family-built company has labored for decades, proving that doing things the right way, in every home, is its priority.

For more than 40 years, Lightfoot has supported families across Parker County with plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and electrical services. Their trucks are iconic, and if you’re a local, chances are you know someone who has relied on Lightfoot for years.

While many things change overnight, Lightfoot continues to deliver the same commitment to quality that cemented its reputation from the beginning.

This resolve is captured in a tagline many Weatherford residents already know well: “We’re the Good Guys.” It’s not just catchy marketing language. It’s a service standard that guides how Lightfoot hires, trains, and shows up for the community every day.

At Lightfoot Mechanical, service is measured by more than technical expertise. It’s defined by responsibility to homes, to livelihoods, and to the people who depend on their systems working safely and consistently every day. That mindset is especially evident within the plumbing division, where technicians are often called into situations that impact health and daily operations.

“Our work goes beyond fixing pipes and systems,” says plumbing manager Mark Tilton. “It’s about

keeping homes safe, businesses running smoothly, and supporting the community.”

Home service companies may lead with equipment and warranties, but homeowners remember something far more personal: how they were treated. Did the technician listen? Did they explain the issue in clear, everyday language? Was the homeowner offered a solution that felt fair and trustworthy? And importantly, did the technician respect the home as if it were their own?

One of the hallmarks of Lightfoot’s approach is the tenure of its employees. While many home service companies experience constant turnover, Lightfoot creates careers, not just jobs. Many team members have been with the company for years, and in some cases decades, watching neighborhoods grow, homes change hands, and families settle into the area. Lightfoot’s teams have worked through scorching summers, unpredictable cold snaps, and every “it picked the worst day to break” moment in between.

That continuity shows up in the details homeowners notice right away. It’s in the way a technician introduces themselves at the door, the care taken to protect

“The strength of this company is our people. We invest in each other.”

floors and leave a clean workspace, and the patience to answer questions without rushing or talking over a homeowner. At Lightfoot, good service never feels confusing or high-pressure. It feels calm, transparent, and respectful.

In a close-knit community like Weatherford, reputation matters and word travels quickly. Lightfoot understands that trust isn’t assumed but earned visit by visit. The goal isn’t simply to complete a repair. They deliver an experience that leaves homeowners feeling confident in the workmanship, recommendations, and decisions being made for their home.

“The strength of this company is our people,” remarks branch manager Zach Fiew. “We invest in each other. We hold each other accountable, and we celebrate

wins together. That’s what makes this such a special place to work. Our electrical manager has been here for eight years, our plumbing manager for seven, and our HVAC install manager even longer. It’s a special thing to find a place like this.”

From leadership to every level of the organization, the commitment flows both ways.

“I’m here for the guys,” explains dispatch agent Erica Prince, who has a nineyear tenure with the company. “They make it worth it. They’re in front of the customers all the time. I don’t know what I’d do without them.”

Lightfoot’s investment in its personnel directly benefits customers. Technicians undergo extensive background checks, and homeowners receive a text before service arrives with detailed information,

Zach Fiew

including a photo of their technician, so there are no surprises. It’s one of many ways the business prioritizes comfort and consistency for the community it has supported over the years.

Behind the scenes, human resources play a key role in protecting the “Good Guys” promise by supporting employees and ensuring they are aligned around clear expectations. When considering candidates, the Lightfoot team confirms that each new hire fits its core values of safety, integrity, community, innovation, and grit.

“People come to us looking for a job,” says human resources manager Jennifer Mahan. “But they stay because they find a fulfilling career, room to grow, support, and opportunities to excel.”

Modern homes require more than ever before. Smarter HVAC systems, increased electrical demands, and high-performing plumbing all work in concert to keep households running smoothly. When problems

arise, most homeowners prefer the reassurance of a service provider with an established, trusted relationship.

Lightfoot’s advantage lies in its whole-home approach by bringing heating and air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing together under one cohesive team. This integrated model strengthens communication and ensures recommendations reflect the full picture. A cooling issue may involve more than the unit alone; a tripping breaker can signal a broader safety concern; and a water heater leak may point to deeper plumbing needs. Lightfoot’s teams take the time to explain each situation clearly, helping homeowners make informed decisions without undue stress.

Lightfoot’s teams are trained to approach these situations with the right balance of technical expertise and clear, homeowner-friendly explanations. The goal is to bring clarity and confidence to every choice—never to complicate or pressure the process. CONTINUED >

For many Weatherford families, Lightfoot’s membership program transforms emergency-only maintenance into a calmer, more predictable routine. Built around the philosophy of catching problems early, the program supports longer equipment life, fewer surprise breakdowns, and safer system performance.

Membership typically includes priority scheduling, planned maintenance visits, and savings on repairs. But the deepest value is peace of mind. Knowing a proven team is keeping an eye on small issues before they escalate is invaluable.

More than a service provider, Lightfoot Mechanical is part of the Weatherford community. Their employees live locally and give back in meaningful ways. The trust they’ve earned is relational, not transactional. It’s why generations of homeowners continue to turn to Lightfoot for quality care and lasting peace of mind.

If you’re looking for a dependable team for your home’s heating and air conditioning, electrical, or plumbing needs, or if you like the peace of mind that comes from routine maintenance, Lightfoot’s membership program is a practical place to start. There’s no pressure or complicated sales pitch. It’s just a straightforward way to protect your home, simplify upkeep, and feel more prepared for whatever the season brings.

HOMES WITH SOUL

How H+Co. Design Haus Creates Spaces That Reflect Real Life, Real People, and Real Comfort

PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMBER TICE

A house most often feels like home when it provides comfort, helps you feel truly relaxed, and allows you to let your guard down and be yourself. Decorating your home is the perfect opportunity to create a space that is as unique and beautiful as the life you’ve built inside its walls.

“A home is more than just a place you sleep or eat. It should be a place you are proud of, and a place that reflects you and your family.”

When H+Co. Design Haus opened in 2023, it was a passion project for owner Heather Hargis. “I made the decision to give up my first career and jump headfirst into my passion; creating beautiful homes and spaces for people to make their most precious memories. A home is more than just a place you sleep or eat. It should be a place you are proud of, and a place that reflects you and your family.”

Each new project is an exciting challenge and a chance for Hargis to help her clients truly express themselves through the style of their homes. One of the first steps of the interior design process at H+Co. Design Haus is assessing how a household uses their space. “Function always has to take priority,” Hargis explains, “but once we know how a space needs to function, we can let the creative process run.”

In order to learn more about a client’s style and taste, Hargis focuses on learning more about them. “The more I understand about my clients’ lives and what means the most to them, the more I’m able to weave that into the design of their home.”

Another equally important aspect of the interior design process is trust. “Creating trust in my ability is vital,” Hargis says, “Trusting can be difficult for some people, but ultimately, the clients that put the most trust in me are often the happiest in the end.”

While every project is unique, there is one particular home design that stands out in Hargis’ memory. “The very first large-scale project that I did was special for me because it was my first whole home design. It forced me out of my comfort zone. This project was a large family ranch that was purchased

furnished with the original furniture. My client wanted the home to feel updated and reflective of what he liked, and with bolder colors. Prior to this project, I didn’t have a lot of experience with sourcing ranch-style furnishings, but I embraced it fully and put my own special twist on it. We incorporated rich leathers, lots of texture, and a ton of character. It turned out beautifully, and I’m proud of it.”

Instead of labeling herself with a particular decorating style, Hargis uses her eye for design to tailor each home’s interior to match her clients’ tastes. From modern, rustic, contemporary, industrial, and beyond, she has designed spaces for every style and fashion. “It doesn’t matter if it’s my taste or not,” Hargis says. “It’s their home, and it’s my job to create a design they will love.”

Though each interior design project is as unique as the client, there is one common theme across all of Hargis’ projects. “In addition to making it aesthetically pleasing and functional, my philosophy is to carefully curate each space to feel comfortable and reflective of the people living there. No space is ever the same, and they shouldn’t be. It’s important that each home is full of character and has some soul to it.”

Homes are not the only spaces that benefit from Hargis’ expertise. She also works with local businesses to create beautiful and inspirational rooms, while taking into account how the space is used. “In the case of a business, if it’s a high traffic area, we would select more durable finishes and furnishings,” Hargis explains.

Though creating uniquely beautiful interiors for her clients is her passion, Hargis also enjoys building friendships as she spends time learning about her clients’ style and design preferences. “It sounds cliché, but I mean it with all my heart when I say that my favorite part of what I do is getting to build relationships with the wonderful humans that I work with.

“Whether my clients are building their new families, growing their families, or settling in for a slower phase of their life, I feel privileged to help make that home beautiful and functional

for

all of their most precious moments.”

Some of my clients are now friends, and I am so grateful for those friendships.”

For home and business owners who are ready for a spring design refresh but aren’t quite sure what they’re looking for, Hargis has one piece of advice. “Just pick up the phone and call us! Put your trust in us to make it beautiful.”

With the opening of their new design studio, H+Co. Design Haus is here to help Parker County and the surrounding communities discover the beauty of personalized interior designs for their homes. Local residents will also benefit

from a furniture showroom set to open later this spring, featuring a selection of decor, such as rugs, lighting, and furniture—all available for public purchase.

“Whether my clients are building their new families, growing their families, or settling in for a slower phase of their life, I feel privileged to help make that home beautiful and functional for all of their most precious moments,” Hargis says. “I take that honor seriously.”

AN ARTISTIC SANCTUARY IN GRANBURY

A LOCAL GALLERY WHERE FINE ART AND WESTERN STORYTELLING CONVERGE

Stepping into Your Private Collection Art Gallery in downtown Granbury feels less like entering a retail space and more like crossing a threshold into another world. Light dances across layered canvases. The colorful brush strokes speak before words do. Every piece feels intentional, thoughtfully placed, and deeply alive, because it is curated by an artist who understands art not only as an object, but as an experience.

ARTIST’S PALETTE | ARTS + CULTURE
Artwork by Jeremy Serna

Owner Stacey Watkins is best known for her work in phosphorescent art, which is a rare and mesmerizing medium that absorbs light and glows in the dark for up to eight hours. Tucked quietly in the back of the gallery, her glowing works invite visitors into a dimly lit space where time seems to slow and the senses awaken. These pieces are beautiful in the daylight and morph into something completely different as the light changes. It is intimate. Unexpected. And unforgettable.

Watkins’ artwork carries a deeply spiritual essence. Angels, trees, roots, and foundations appear often. These are visual metaphors for faith, family, and legacy. Her work invites reflection by offering viewers a quiet place to pause.

“A lot of my pieces are very spiritual,” she says. “I had a large piece of art called Michael in the gallery for a long time. I would often find customers pausing in front of it. People who didn’t even know each other would gather in front of that piece to pray together.”

Moments like those reflect the soul of Your Private Collection. The gallery is not curated for trends. It is curated for community.

For nearly two decades, Watkins has been recording history in real time by curating and championing artists whose work has grown from local recognition into international acclaim.

“I was always interested in art,” Watkins reflects. “I love to watch people grow through their artistic gifts. When an artist creates a piece, it endures beyond a lifetime.”

That philosophy is etched into every corner of the gallery. Purchasing a piece from Your Private Collection is not simply acquiring décor; it is investing in heirloom-quality art, meant to be lived with and passed down through generations.

“When I choose an artist, I select someone who has committed their life to that journey,” Watkins explains. “It fills me up to watch customers invest in these artists, and their pieces increase in value due to their accomplishments.”

The artists represented encompass multiple genres and styles, yet they share a common thread: an eclectic Western influence imbued with authenticity and emotional depth. Originally from Kansas, Watkins has called Granbury home for 19 years, building a collection of artists who have flourished together.

“Our gallery consists of more than sixty artists that we consider to be family,” she shares. “We celebrate their success and grow with them.”

Jeremy Serna, a Western artist known for painting en plein air, often demonstrates live painting at the gallery, capturing scenes in real time. Guests are invited to watch the creative process unfold. His brushstrokes form stories before their eyes. It is art in motion, accessible and alive.

Among those artists is Justin Blair, a contemporary Western painter with whimsical, Texas-themed works that elevate interiors with both humor and heart. His pieces feel bold yet playful. His art can transform a space instantly.

Also represented is Pamela Steege, a local fine art photographer whose work captures quiet moments with striking clarity and intention. Her photographs balance technical precision with emotional depth.

The gallery features Soon Y. Warren, widely regarded as one of the top watercolor artists in the world, and Jeremy Salazar, a Navajo contemporary painter whose vibrant acrylic portraiture blends abstraction and realism. Salazar’s work directly benefits the Navajo Nation, adding yet another layer of purpose to each piece. His paintings, which celebrate the Navajo Nation and other indigenous tribes, are full of soul.

“I like to ignite joy,” Watkins says. “Emotions are portrayed through art. If you can’t stand in front of a piece and feel deep emotions, then it doesn’t belong in this gallery.”

That ethos comes to life during the gallery’s monthly Last Saturday Gallery Nights, when featured artists gather to meet collectors, share the method behind their work, and demonstrate their craft over hors d’oeuvres. It’s an experience where art glows, stories unfold, and beauty lingers well beyond the night.

A Commitment to Community

A Personal Perspective on Parker County Real Estate

The population of Parker County has grown by almost 44% in the last 30 years, according to the United States census records. With that growth comes investment opportunities, newly developed land and neighborhoods, and an abundance of housing options for those looking to put down roots in the area.

As the CEO of Worthington Realty & Investments, Brooke Ladouceur has a deep understanding of both the local and national real estate markets. In a recent interview, Ladouceur shared her expert opinions and an in-depth look at what

steps families and investors can expect when it comes to searching for the perfect property in Parker County.

WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES THE WEATHERFORD/PARKER COUNTY AREA A PRIME REGION FOR HOUSING DEVELOPMENT?

I love this question because Parker County has never felt like something I need to “sell.” My passion for this area comes from a genuine love and deep personal connection, not from financial motivation. I was born in Weatherford,

my father was born here, and my grandfather helped establish one of the town’s earliest institutions—Weatherford National Bank. These roots run deep, and they give me a profound respect for both the history and the future of this community.

I’m incredibly proud to live here and equally proud to have watched my husband invest a significant portion of what he earned with the Dallas Cowboys back into the land of Parker County—investing not just in property, but in the people and the long-term growth of this area. This is my home, and it always will be. I was born here, I plan to die here, and I look forward to playing a meaningful role in every chapter in between.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY MAKES A NEIGHBORHOOD TRULY FEEL LIKE HOME?

This question is exactly what guided my husband and me when building the three communities we’ve developed. To us, a neighborhood truly feels like home when it’s safe, welcoming, and rooted in connection. It’s a place where children can play outside freely, families feel secure, and neighbors share similar values and respect for one another.

We also believe the best communities are multi-generational. Older residents bring wisdom, patience, and a watchful presence, while younger families and children bring energy, joy, and life. That balance creates a sense of belonging where people look out for one another, relationships grow naturally, and every generation plays a role in shaping the community.

FOR SOMEONE CONSIDERING BUYING IN ONE OF YOUR DEVELOPMENTS, WHAT ARE THE TOP THREE THINGS YOU WANT THEM TO KNOW?

First, communication and long-term commitment matter. I’ve seen too many developers enter a city, complete the first phase, collect their profits, and disappear—leaving unfinished plans, shifting restrictions, and communities that slowly decline. That is not how we operate. I’m not going anywhere. My office is at 1701 Santa Fe Drive in Weatherford, Texas—you always know where to find me. I welcome questions, conversations, and accountability, and I believe strong communication is what protects the integrity of a community over time.

Second, we build communities we’re proud to live in. I personally live in our first development and reside directly next to our other two. I would live in any of our developments without hesitation, and that pride comes from the care and attention my husband has poured into every detail.

Third, each development offers a distinct lifestyle. Bluebonnet Ridge is designed for those who value space and freedom. You can have horses or cattle, build large metal shops, and truly enjoy an equestrian-friendly lifestyle. Summit Ranch, on the other hand, offers a more refined country feel. It’s just ten minutes from the highway, sits at the peak of Aledo with incredible views, and provides a more upscale environment with architectural restrictions that preserve its polished aesthetic. WHAT’S YOUR APPROACH WHEN WORKING WITH DIFFERENT TYPES OF CLIENTS?

Each type of client requires a different approach. With first-time homebuyers, I intentionally slow the process down. I walk them through every step carefully, explain the details thoroughly, and practice a great deal of patience—because this is often the biggest and most personal purchase they’ll ever make.

When working with investors or commercial clients, the approach shifts. Those transactions are driven by numbers, strategy, and timing, with far less emotion involved. In those cases, I’m more direct, analytical, and efficient, so decisions can be made quickly and confidently.

At the end of the day, my goal is to meet clients exactly where they are. Whether it’s a family buying a home where they’ll create years of memories or an investor focused on returns, I tailor my pace, communication, and strategy to ensure each client receives the attention and expertise their situation deserves.

HOW DO YOU HELP CLIENTS FEEL CONFIDENT WHEN MAKING BIG REAL ESTATE DECISIONS IN AN EVER-CHANGING MARKET?

I believe confidence comes from clear, transparent communication. I make it a priority to educate my clients on realistic expectations—I don’t sugarcoat the process. I’m direct and honest because clarity builds trust. Beyond that, I focus on listening closely to their

goals, concerns, and timelines so every decision feels intentional rather than reactive. In an ever-changing market, my role is to be both an advocate and a steady guide to get them to the end goal - the closing.

HOW DO YOU STAY BUSY AND GET INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY OUTSIDE OF REAL ESTATE?

I’ve always held myself to very high standards, and I tend to overextend because failure has never felt like an option. Serving my community has been a major part of my life—from spending seven years on the Center of Hope board and seven years on the Chandor Gardens board, chairing multiple local galas, and previously serving on the Parker County Health Foundation board. Volunteering is truly one of my greatest passions. I’ve

“We build communities we’re proud to live in.”

coached girls’ basketball for over four years at Trinity Christian Academy, and even taken on roles that were more demanding than rewarding—such as serving as HOA president for Rancho Vista Estates for 13 years and later for Bluebonnet Ridge—because I believed it was for the greater good of the community. I also founded Flourishing Faith, a nonprofit for the women of Parker County, after seeing how many women were exhausted, overworked, and often underappreciated.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE AT WORTHINGTON REALTY AND HOW YOU CREATE A WORK/ LIFE BALANCE.

In 2026, I officially took over Worthington Realty & Investments from my parents, stepping into the role of CEO. With that transition, I’ve become more intentional about setting boundaries—especially with volunteer commitments—so I can be more present with my family. One of the most meaningful rhythms in our home is that we prioritize family dinners. Even on busy nights, we gather at the table to share the highs and lows of our day, prepare the meal together, and clean up together. It’s a tradition passed down from both my parents and my husband’s parents, and it’s something we deeply value.

While I may struggle at times with doing too much, I’m never confused about my priorities. My strength comes from God’s Holy Spirit and the peace He has given me—peace that truly surpasses all understanding. I know I could never do any of this on my own, and all glory and honor ultimately belong to Him.
