I have a herniated disc. Can you help me? Patients often come to us after being told that surgery is their option for a herniated disc. While it’s true that a herniated disc is a very serious and painful condition, our procedure has been able to help many people find relief and avoid back surgery. Our specific procedure works by correcting spinal misalignment that may have caused the herniated disc. Correcting the spinal balance results in roughly 75% of our patients avoiding surgery. The other 25% will typically fare better after surgery because our procedure has restored proper alignment and balance to the spine. Proper alignment makes the repair or removal of the herniated disc more successful and the patient is less likely to have multiple back surgeries. Life Skills Education ADLT 101: Life Skills Education aims to help young adults and professionals grow as autonomous individuals by teaching them specific skills needed to function and thrive in society as well as coping strategies to manage situations should any complications arise. These skills are necessary to be successful in all facets of life and can be broken down into three groups: Social Skills, Daily Living Skills, and Employability and Professionalism.

Our cobia dish is a great balance of light and rich. The fish itself has a great oil content that allows it to be cooked in really any way, always maintaining its moisture and richness, while the remoulade brings some bright acidic notes, toning it down a bit and providing a lighter feel. I love topping all of the richness off with the vegetable components. The field peas have a creamy texture and are lightly earthy with a touch of sweetness, and the roasted baby carrots and crushed pistachios give the dish some texture. utumn is finally here, which means soup season is too. It’s the perfect time to cozy

up to a delightful butternut squash soup and wine. Enjoy this fall soup and wine pairing by 101 Steak in their patio dining area. The dish, chosen by chef Thomas Coulter, is the butternut squash and Granny Smith apple soup. It is garnished with shaved Granny Smith apples, crème fraîche and a sage leaf. To prepare the dish, Coulter first roasts squash in the oven with olive oil, salt and pepper. Then, he sautes the peeled apples along with sweet Vidalia onions in a pot and adds the roasted squash meat. The dish is seasoned with ginger, allspice, fennel seed, rubbed sage and pepper, then the squash and chicken stock are added. Coulter reduces the dish before adding heavy cream. For a finishing touch, he tops the dish

with maple syrup. "To me, squash and all of the seasonings embody fall in the east," Thomas says about why he included this dish on the fall menu. "The flavors remind the diner of changing leaves." The wine chosen by beverage director Chris Reid is Warre's Fine White Porto. Often, when pairing soups, people feel the need to apply a lighter wine. Ironically, many soups are made with a sherry base and are considered intense and heavy in flavor. 5 TIPS FOR HEALTHY KIDS

The most important thing to remember about raising healthy kids is to make it fun. Kids learn best through play and won’t like it if it feels like a chore. Be creative! 1. Get the whole family involved. It’s more likely to stick if everyone does it together. 2. Model healthy eating and exercise habits. Fruits and veggies won’t be as scary if mom and dad eat them too. 3. Be adventurous. Hike a new trail. Try a dragon fruit. Kids don’t have to love everything, but it’s important to diversify their eating and exercise. 4. Give them choices. Kids want to give input. Don’t let them decide everything, but offer two to three options for them to pick between. 5. Bartering is not always bad. We all do the best we can, but there are times when kids just refuse to finish that broccoli. It’s okay to encourage children and reward good choices with extra one-on-one time with books, puzzles or games.
