THE SECRET TO A
FOREVER-

FABULOUS
PHYSIQUE
Cindy Sites opened Greenwich Barre Studio in September 2019. This was several years after opening her first fitness studio, Go Figure Barre Studio, in 2001, also in Greenwich. Expanding to 13 studios across the country over the next 14 years made Cindy the renowned expert she is today.
CONTINUED >

“I was on a roll!” She says of the studio-building momentum. “It was a great experience and I was able to meet so many wonderful clients, train dozens of instructors and become pretty proficient in building-out barre studios.”
In 2015, Cindy and her husband felt it was time to make a lifestyle change, so they moved to Palm Beach, FL (where she had two barre studios). “I thought that I was retiring…hanging up my tights,” she says. “No sooner did we get settled in Florida when our daughter moved to Connecticut to start a family. My husband and I looked at each other and said, ‘What are we doing here?! We want to be with our grandbabies!’”
So, they reversed course—back to Greenwich. All was perfect, Cindy said, except for one thing. “I desperately missed studio ownership,” she said. More specifically, she missed sharing “this wonderful method of exercise” with other women. And that is how Greenwich Barre Studio was born.
This time around, she wanted to make sure she was doing what she loved most—teaching the method (not managing people like she was largely responsible for at Go Figure). “I said if I do it again, there will only be one studio—but it will be a jewel box of a studio,” she stated. It’s no surprise today that what you see when you enter Greenwich Barre Studio is exactly that—a beautiful, serene space where people come to experience the true essence of barre-based exercise.
Cindy, known as “The Grandmother of Barre*”, has dedicated more than three decades to helping women, particularly those in their 40s, 50s and 60s, achieve the best shape of their life. It has even been claimed that Cindy is “proof” that the “purest form of barre is the secret to a forever fabulous physique,” to which Cindy candidly responds, “Yes. I can say that with honesty and confidence having experienced the method firsthand for 32 years. I have witnessed hundreds of women achieve strength, stamina, agility and great posture by consistently practicing this method.”
As for the physical results of the “fabulous physique” ? It’s almost a side-effect of the method, Cindy says. Barre

is a form of exercise notorious for building beautiful, long, lean muscle. Traditional elements of a classical ballet barre workout along with principles of Pilates and Yoga, offer a challenging workout that creates a long, lean “dancer” look. As Cindy puts it, “One day you suddenly notice—wow, my figure looks great!”
Barre is also a fountain of youth, according to Cindy, going so far as to say her method helps create “an ageless body.” How is this achieved for her clients? “If you were to look at a dancer’s body from the neck down, it would be difficult to determine the age of that person,” Cindy says. “That is exactly what this method does. Everything we do in the studio is intended to either strengthen or lengthen muscles. We are either contracting muscles in a very specific and targeted way, or stretching out specific muscle groups.” This, she says, creates a winning combination of toned, agile, defined bodies.
In addition to the physical benefits that Greenwich Barre Studio provides, it would be remiss to skip over perhaps the less obvious results, which include increased confidence, improved mental health and an awareness of posture. At the studio, Cindy and her team have what they call “a healthy obsession with posture.” “Clients hear me say it multiple times throughout class,” Cindy remarks. “What is the very first thing you notice about a person? The color of their eyes? The designer handbag they are carrying? Nope. The first thing you notice about a person is their posture—how they carry themselves. There’s a reason why “slouch” has such a bad connotation. People with good posture exude confidence.” Ladies walk out of the studio feeling taller and have an awareness of how they carry themselves.
Case in point? When you couple the physical appearance of “shoulders down and back, chin parallel to the floor and eyes looking toward the horizon” with a strong body– that is confidence! You’ll have to take Cindy’s class to find out for yourself.

SUMMER DREAMING

ARTICLE BY SARAH TRUE, TRUE EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY BY MINDY BRIAR PHOTOGRAPHY

Both looks represent a style that transcends decades.

The elevated camp setting of Cedar Lakes Estate in New York proved to be the perfect setting for a summer styled shoot. In the heart of Hudson Valley, this estate is a dream location for a destination wedding. Guests can enjoy a weekend of yoga, canoeing, swimming in the lake, and so much more – it’s the perfect little escape outside of the city.
Inspired by the setting and the season, I wanted to design a table that was elegant but not fussy. A tablescape that highlights the colors of the season - leaning into vibrant hues of pink and red with a variety of shades of white and green and a perfect pop of purple.
Yumiko Fletcher from Hana Floral Design selected a combination of bold and soft flowers that created movement and wove in texture. Her use of a variety of seasonal blooms including tulips, clematis, sweet pea, poppies and fresh on the vine tomatoes helped create a garden inspired, whimsical, al fresco table that set the tone for the day. CONTINUED >
The layering of the patterns of multiple dishes atop a rattan placemat and custom linen helped to build the depth of the table.
The foundation of the design was based on custom hand painted china from Squiggle Rentals. Complementary glassware and flatware completed each setting. Pattern linens are a big trend this year, and I love how they create a unique setting making it feel more unique and less traditional. It is a great way to personalize the design and make it feel custom.
Erica Bryniczka, from Erica Jean Calligraphy, hand wrote the escort cards on lucite adorned with pressed flowers that coordinated with the palette of the fresh flowers on the table. It is the little details like this that truly make an event unique and memorable. We have found that handwritten pieces help to personalize each event.
Shannon Vindiola, from Yozo Studio, created the paper suite to continue to build off of the design and tie in all of the little details on the table.
Ana Parzych, of Ana Parzych Cakes is one of the most talented cake designers with a passion for detail and perfection. She creates one-ofa-kind masterpieces and her cakes taste as incredible as they look!
A Little Something White provided the fashion for the bride and the groom. Looks that are both timeless yet with a modern twist from the midnight blue tuxedo by J. Hilburn to the alencon lace detailed bridal gown by Caroline Castigliano styled with a clean cathedral length veil.
MINDY BRIAR
Mindy Briar is a wedding and portrait photographer based in New England, New York and Hawaii. Mindy specializes in fine art portraiture, blending digital and film mediums to capture timeless moments. Her passion for history and design deeply influences her work, allowing her to focus on the intricate details that make each photograph unique. Her approach is tailored to each client, ensuring that every session reflects the individual beauty and personality of her clients.

Colorful china was layered and complemented by lush florals that stretched down the table in an eclectic mix of rattan vases and stone compotes.

HOW TO DESIGN A RELAXING SPACE
ARTICLE BY EMILY FOSTER INTERIORS

INVESTING IN HOME DESIGN CAN GIVE YOU A PEACEFUL SANCTUARY WHERE YOU CAN ESCAPE FROM THE STRESSES OF DAILY LIFE. SO GO AHEAD, TAKE THE PLUNGE AND REVAMP YOUR LIVING SPACES – IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY!
invest inyour living space
There are many things that can help a room feel relaxing, but let’s keep it simple and focus on my top three. I would say that one must incorporate good lighting, great textures, and a decluttered space to truly get the cozy vibes. Let’s tackle each.
GOOD LIGHTING
It’s imperative that there are multiple sources of light in a space. Rooms need a soft warm light, so I always like to use a light bulb between 2,700k and 3,000k. Also, all lights should have the same temperature light bulb to avoid clashing. It’s not enough to just have recessed or pendant lighting. I add a table or floor lamp to a space to truly have ambient light. Candles are a must for me. They can be scented candles (an extra way to add relaxation) or I like to use remote control tapered candles, so I don’t have to worry about cleaning up wax later.
GREAT TEXTURES
Textures are seen in toss pillows, rugs, draperies, throw blankets and furniture upholstery. Textures add color, pattern and visual interest. I like to use at least three different textures to help a room feel lived-in and welcoming.
DECLUTTERING
So many times, a person thinks that every nook and cranny and every wall need to have something, and this is not the case. A decluttered space is actually more relaxing because overcrowding of items doesn’t quiet the mind. Decluttering a space can be overwhelming, I get it, so just do it in stages. You’ll love the outcome when the room is tidy, organized and you are only surrounded with what brings you joy.
Fabulous Flatbread

This dish is from Chef Evon Profitt, the director of culinary operations for all of Westside Concepts in Arizona. This flatbread with grilled peaches, house-made rosemary paneer cheese, soppressata, fresh mint, and pistachios with a balsamic drizzle is to die for.
Grilled Peach Flatbread with House-Made Rosemary Paneer Cheese
Yield: 4 flatbreads
INGREDIENTS:
• 2 peaches cut into 8 pieces each
• 12 slices soppressata or any salami
• Fresh mint
• 1 tbsp. olive oil
• ¼ cup pistachios, chopped
• Balsamic reduction
• 4 baked naan bread
FOR THE PANEER CHEESE:
• 6 cups whole milk
• 2 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
• ½ tbsp. fresh rosemary, chopped
• 1 tsp. kosher salt
HOW TO MAKE PANEER CHEESE:
Paneer cheese is made by curdling milk using an acidic additive such as lemon juice or vinegar. Paneer cheese does not use any kind of rennet, nor fermentation or aging.
In a pot, bring 6 cups of whole milk to 200 degrees. Once milk has reached temp., stir in the 2 tbsp. of vinegar and turn off heat; milk will begin to separate. Allow milk to curd for 5 minutes, strain whey and curds into a cheesecloth-lined colander. Transfer curds to a mixing bowl and add chopped rosemary and 1 tsp. kosher salt, mix ingredients together, reserve the cheesecloth for the next step. Place the curds back into the cheesecloth, pull the corners of the cloth together, ring out excess whey from the curds, and hang for 30 minutes to continue draining. Once the curds have drained, place cheesecloth-wrapped curds back into the colander and place a heavy item on top, in order to press the curds into shape and press more of the whey from the cheese, for 3-4 hours. Use cheese fresh or keep refrigerated up to 4 days.
FLATBREAD:
Brush olive oil onto both sides of naan flatbread, and place in oven on rack for 10 minutes at 400 degrees, or grill for 2 minutes each side. Grill peach slices for 2 minutes each side, or place in oiled sauté pan till each side begins to caramelize. On a cutting board, lay flatbread down, and place grilled peach slices around flatbread. Take small pieces of Paneer cheese and place throughout over the peaches. Be creative and find place for the soppressata or salami of your choice. Garnish with crushed pistachios and torn fresh mint. Cut flatbread, transfer to serving plates, and drizzle with balsamic reduction.
“I love the use of fresh, locally sourced peaches, and giving people the chance to make an easy, versatile cheese at home with ingredients that many already have in their refrigerators and pantries.”
