Dear readers, We are excited to share our April issue with you! This month we highlight some of our neighbors and other local residents and talk with them about their involvement in our community. Firstly, we are thrilled to feature local Kevin Griffin, founder of the Pilgrimage Festival and lead vocalist of the band Better Than Ezra. In addition to his musical talents, Kevin is also a gifted writer and is set to publish his new book, The Greatest Song: Spark Creativity, Ignite Your Career And Transform Your Life, a fictional business parable packed with inspiring real-world advice. Local Spring Hill resident Howard Roth speaks on moving to Tennessee so many years ago and how it has been the best decision for him and his family. We sat down with Brent Brinkmeier as he spoke about how combining technology, experience and knowledge can help you get fit and live well. We also check in with Williamson Health and all the regional healthcare system has to offer local residents. If you are looking for something fun to do - we have you covered. Check out our feature on Noble Springs Dairy where owners Dustin and Justyne Noble are raising “hundreds of kids.” Read about local farmer, Allen Foster, and his involvement in the FOX TV show, "Farmer Wants a Wife." We hope you enjoy reading the exciting features in our April issue and find inspiration in its pages. As always, we welcome your feedback and ideas for future issues. Warmly,

OUR YES MAN DOESN’T EXIST. Yes men. They tell you everything you want to hear and nothing that you need to know. Which is why we don’t hire any. Instead, we hire people who help buyers clear all the inevitable hurdles of home buying with honesty, transparency, and even the occasional “No” if it needs to be said. For example, “No, we don’t recommend you put carpet in the bathroom.” Saying “No” when it’s right to do so might not be every builder’s business model, but it’s the one that works for us and it seems to work pretty well for our thousands of happy clients. CUPID’S GONE COUNTRY!
Farmer Wants a Wife is putting a spin on the traditional reality dating show with single women from the city vying for the opportunity to win over the hearts of eligible bachelors from the country. Hosted by country artist Jennifer Nettles of the duo Sugarland, the television show—which premiered March 8 on FOX— follows four single male farmers from the South as they show groups of city women what life on the farm is really like. The women get a hands-on experience of the ins and outs of farm life, while also getting to know their potential lifelong partner and the ranch he calls home. The lineup of eligible ranchers includes cattle rancher and farmer Allen Foster of Santa Fe, TN, horse trainer/ breeder Ryan Black of Gastonia, NC, cattle rancher and farmer Landon Heaton of Stillwater, OK, and cattle/horse rancher Hunter Grayson of Watkinsville, GA. The four country bachelors were approached on social media by the show’s production team to see if they’d like to try their luck at finding love. Heaton and Foster admit that they thought

it was a scam, but once they realized it was the real deal, they were all in on finding love through what Foster calls “the opportunity of a lifetime.” Most of the farmers were not very familiar with reality dating shows before this experience. “I don’t even have cable,” said Heaton. “You know it’s funny, my mom was supportive of it,” Black says of his coming on the show. “But my dad didn’t find out until the Super Bowl commercial.” He reveals that he went to great lengths to keep the surprise from his father until that national moment. While it was a step out of the norm for these farmers, they have great respect for the women who also risked a lot to come on the show. “The fact that they were so willing to learn about the lifestyle that they weren’t used to and weren’t accustomed to, it said a lot to me and that really touched my heart,” Grayson says of the women who gave up their everyday lives in the city to come experience ranch life. Be sure to tune in to see if these eligible farmers find love!

Better Than Ezra's Kevin Griffin Is Singing A Different 'Song' THE PILGRIMAGE FESTIVAL CO-FOUNDER EXPLORES ANOTHER SIDE OF HIMSELF You may have first heard Kevin Griffin's name back in 1993 when his band, Better Than Ezra, first emerged on to the music scene with the album Deluxe and 1995 hit single "Good" which reached number one on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. Or maybe you remember his name from 2015 when he helped to launch Franklin's beloved Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival, now in its ninth year. Today, you'll hear Kevin Griffin's name again as the author of the highly regarded book, The Greatest Song: Spark Creativity, Ignite Your Career And Transform Your Life, a fictional business parable with inspiring real-world advice, due out later this month. Kevin says, "I started doing speeches with Young President's Organization (YPO) groups like five or six years ago. And when I sat down to write my speech, I started to think, 'What would be compelling to a business person?' This organization was made up of very successful business people. People are just so interested in music and behind the scenes, and it's a career that people

are fascinated with. So I started thinking 'How have I stayed successful in a notoriously fickle business, and are there actual things that I've done, tangible things that I've done, to stay in this game that I've learned over the years?’” That's when Griffin realized he really did have something to say. "I realized there are these tools and these kind of methods that I do, sometimes overtly, but also just out of habit, these things I do to stay in the game. And I put it together in a speech that was really a story arc of my career from the beginning of Better Than Ezra to writing hit songs for other people. The ups and downs of the music business, getting dropped, peppered with the hits that I've written for other people. And then I put these five things that I do to stay in the game." Kevin's Five Tips • Creative collaboration • Filling the well • Leaving your comfort zone • Change your attitude • Dare to be stupid "Writing books is a long process. It takes a long time. I was like, 'I'm going to do a business parable about a songwriter' and not make it autobiographical, but it couldn't help but be just a little bit. It's just the things that I've learned and the anecdotes and the stories and the characters, and it all just fell together. It took a long time to write. I spent many, many hours at Frothy Monkey. I was that guy on the computer," says Griffin. Writing a book was something the English major from Louisiana State University (LSU) always wanted to do. Next up, he says he's working on a purely fiction book. Griffin adds, "I love doing it all. I really love pivoting. It's always exciting to me, and what I learn. It's inspiring that within any profession, there's a whole skill set that you aren't aware exists. And I'm a firm believer in always evolving." Speaking of evolving, what's next for Better Than Ezra? "We have a new album coming out at the end of the summer. It will be our first full-length album in nine years. And we're doing a summer amphitheater tour with Train. It starts in Northern California, and goes all the way across the U.S. And then in the fall, we'll do our own tour of theaters along the East Coast and the Midwest." KevinGriffinMusic.com The Greatest Song is available locally at Parnassus Books, on Amazon, and anywhere you can buy books online.

GET FIT, LIVE WELL Private Classes Tailored To Each Client Through Knowledge And Technology
When Brent Brinkmeier was finishing up his college degree, he started working out and got hooked. He then decided fitness was the path he wanted to follow. “I got my personal training certification in 2002 and have been practicing ever since,” he says. For many years, Brent worked in just about every facet of the fitness industry, including big box gyms, in-home training and online training. He came to discover his passion was strictly for one-on-one training. So eight years ago, he opened On the Brink Fitness in Spring Hill. Last June, he began offering clients FIT 3D, an overall body scanner that creates a 3D model of their bodies. “They get to see themselves in crisp, clear, three dimensions, and they can rotate the image so they can see, say, how their upper

back is looking,” says Brent. “It does all of their basic measurements down to about a hundredth of an inch. The machine will also estimate their body composition, which is the percentage of body fat versus lean body mass.” It also shows how someone stands. “For example, if someone is putting more weight on their right front foot versus their left back foot, this imbalance can indicate an issue we can address in training. FIT 3D also helps estimate basal metabolic rate, which is how many calories your body burns in a 24-hour period by doing nothing.” Once Brent gathers all this data, he puts it together to develop a plan for each client. “That’s where my experience comes in,” he says. “We then focus on conditioning and working out for health benefits. Weight loss comes along with that, but it’s not our main focus.” There are no contracts and clients come in at least twice a week usually for 60 minutes at a time. They range from a 13-year-old working out for the first time to top high school athletes and all the way up to a 95-year-old woman with a hip replacement.“One of my absolute favorite moments was when a woman in her late 60s, about a year after training with me, came in and was just bubbling with excitement that she was able to load a 40-pound bag of dog food into her car, which she hadn’t been able to do before,” he says. Another one of Brent’s passions is doing martial arts with his 12-year-old son, Tristen. The two of them, along with wife and mom Casey, who owns Therapeutic Hands Massage right next door to his studio, also love to play board games. “We have quite a collection,” he says. Inside Williamson Health In 1950, Williamson County’s population was just shy of 24,300. Now, a little more than 70 years later—a little less than the average Tennessean’s lifetime—the population is more than 10 times larger. Back in 1958, a small community hospital provided all the care Williamson County residents needed. But over the years, as the region’s population has boomed, the need for exceptional healthcare close to home also grew—and today’s Williamson Health is rising to meet the challenge. Now a full-service regional healthcare system, Williamson

possible to provide patients the highest level of care right here in Williamson County now and for years to come.”In addition to state-of-the-art facilities, the physicians and other care providers who make up Williamson Health continuously pursue cutting-edge procedures and treatments that lead to easier recoveries and better outcomes for their patients. WMC was the first hospital to adopt the use of fluorescence imaging to assist surgeons using the da Vinci Si robotic surgical system. A stateof-the-art vascular suite houses some of the most up-to-date technology available today, and WMC’s new cath lab also offers the newest systems to help doctors diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. The surgeons at Bone and Joint Institute are also leading their field, using the most advanced surgical technologies such as Mako SmartRobotics™and Exactech GPS to name a few. With the help of this technology, physicians and patients can be more confident in the strategy, accuracy and recovery surrounding their surgeries. “We’ve been a part of this healthcare system since 2018, but the connection has not
always been clear,” said Bone and Joint Institute CEO Darren Harris. “The creation of Williamson Health as our umbrella organization really crystalizes our relationship and showcases the breadth of our services available to our patients and the community as a whole.” A future-focused approach and drive to find advanced solutions that benefit both patient and physician will allow Williamson Health to provide world-class care long into the future, Mazzuca says.“Our state-of-the-art facilities, excellent providers and modern technologies truly set Williamson Health apart,” Mazzuca says. “The transformation we are undergoing—both on the Williamson Medical Center campus and through the introduction of the Williamson Health brand—simply means that residents of Williamson County and the surrounding areas will have access to exceptional care for many generations to come.”Want to learn more about Williamson Health and all it has to offer? Dustin and Justyne Noble were teenagers when they met through their bearded pals. “We were at the National Dairy Goat Show in Iowa,” says Justyne, “and afterward, we exchanged advice on how to take care of our goats.” When Dustin and his brother were babies, they were allergic to formula and cow dairy products. “My parents got goats so they’d have milk to feed us,” Dustin says. “We lived in a Brentwood neighborhood and were the only ones with livestock.” Those early goat days were brief, but by the time Dustin was 10-years-old, he had cajoled his parents into adopting more goats for him to raise. “I had an interest in agriculture and got my degree in animal science from UT Knoxville.” The 4H club in Justyne’s rural Kansas hometown taught her everything from gardening to crafting to dairy production. After meeting Dustin and visiting Nashville for a goat show,
she decided to pursue a marketing and communications degree at Middle Tennessee State University. She settled her goats at Dustin’s parent’s house, and in 2008 the couple acquired part of a 260-acre Leipers Fork paradise, a Tennessee Land Trust property with rolling hills, valleys and streams. “Goats were how we met and they’re our passion, so we built our lives around raising them,” says Justyne. Noble Springs Dairy opened in 2009. For the logo, Justyne sketched a picture of her goat “Tribute,” who had moved with her from Kansas. The couple married in 2010 and have two children, Brynlee, 7 and Bryant, 4. “Our kids love to be involved with the animals,” says Justyne. “Because they’re growing up with goats, chickens, beef cattle and dogs, they’re not afraid of animals, which I guess is good and bad,” she laughs. Their 200 goats are comprised of four breeds: Saanen, Toggenburg, Alpine, and floppy-eared Nubians. “Kidding season,” when 175 or so babies are born, lasts from February to May, and the Nobles deliver the kids themselves. “It takes years of practice,” Dustin says, “and Justyne is great at goat midwifery.” The kids are bottle-fed three times daily for their first three months. Adult goats are milked twice a day. The rest of the time they graze the huge pasture nibbling on grasses and leaves. “Eating vegetation makes their milk particularly nutritious,” says Dustin. Noble Springs primarily produces chevre, or goat cheese, in a variety of flavors, some seasonal like Honey Peach and Blueberry, or their year-round bestseller, Busy Bee, made with
The goats are milked twice a day using suction cups connected to a vacuum system. They eat breakfast and dinner while hanging out in the milking parlor.
The dairy farm hosts community events throughout the spring, summer and fall, including Saturday open house tours and “Goats & Guitars” live music nights.

cranberry and honey. “What we’re working on today was in a goat yesterday,” Dustin explains. The process of milking, pasteurizing, culturing and draining cheese takes 36 hours. Distributors deliver to stores such as Kroger and Whole Foods, to restaurants, and to locations throughout the Southeast. “The cheeses sold at the Saturday Franklin Farmer’s Market were milked on Thursday, so they’re as fresh as possible,” says Dustin. The Dairy is also a popular destination for visitors, with farm-to-table dinners featuring produce, meats, eggs and cheeses produced on their land; “Goats & Guitars” music nights with personalized cheese boards; and Saturday morning “kid cuddling” sessions, where for $12, visitors can snuggle with mischievous baby goats as they bleat and leap about. “We used to offer goat yoga,” says Dustin,” but everyone just wanted to pet goats.” Justyne agrees that sharing their farm with those who want to interact with animals is the best part of being a dairy farmer. “We’re so fortunate we get to spread knowledge about farming and agriculture while doing what we love,” she says. Sleep Inside, Outside 4 Incredible places to (literally) sleep under the stars

It’s always magical to spend a night sleeping under the stars. In decades past, adventure seekers have packed the SUV or camper with tents and gear for ‘roughin’ it’ in the great outdoors. But the swanky and exploding category of luxury outdoor hotel is something to investigate for an unforgettable, next-level experience. For those who prefer glamping rather than pitching their own tent fireside, here are a few options that incorporate sweeping views and a unique
opportunity for travelers to be more authentically embedded in the landscape of the place they’re visiting. These resorts have bucket list-worthy rooms that capture the best of both the luxury resort experience and the outdoors. Whether you crave the dry heat of the remote Utah desert or the luminous beauty of the Northern Lights, we’ve curated a short list of some places you *must* check out.

Amangiri, Utah In southern Utah, Amangiri is a five star resort perfect for an adventurous weekend in the desert. However, it is the simple rooms built to emphasize the beauty of Canyon Point that truly make it an incredible place to stay. Each suite has an outdoor lounge and fireplace with private pools or rooftop terraces available too. Don’t miss a dip in the ‘gram-worthy pool, which wraps around the landscape’s curved dunes and arid plateaus. CONTINUED >

Pacuare Lodge, Costa Rica This jungle hideaway is so out there, you have to whitewater raft down a river or ride a gondola to get there. A network of hanging bridges connect the villas, which have thatched roofs, plantation teak wood floors, rattan furniture and private plunge pools. In the evening, zip 400 feet down a cable for a meal at the Nest, a platform at the top of a ceiba tree, then take a night-time stroll along romantic pathways lit by candles and lanterns.

Staking His Claim How Big-City Insurance Executive Howard Roth Established Deep Tennessee Roots
When Howard Roth moved to Middle Tennessee from the Philadelphia suburbs in 2009, his arrival was a bit of an outlier. The influx of residents from coastal metropolitan areas had yet to gain steam. But Roth and his wife moved their young family here for business opportunities, not a new lifestyle. Erie Insurance, the company he had worked for since 2003, asked him to relocate to establish the company’s presence in the market. A similar situation transpired for his wife, who’s a healthcare IT director. “Our parents had all moved to Florida, so we weren’t tied to the Northeast,” says Roth. “Our kids were nine and 11 and didn’t really care. So we did it!”
The Roth’s built a house in Spring Hill and have been there ever since. “There’s no way we’d move back up north,” says Roth, a native New Yorker. “Part of that is due to the weather, but in Philly, I wore a suit and tie every day. I haven’t dressed that way since moving to Nashville.” Roth says that in terms of size, and distance from the city center, Spring Hill resembles his suburban Philadelphia neighborhood. But an appreciation for nearby bucolic areas led him to purchase a Winchester lake-house two years ago. “It’s very rural down there and takes 20 minutes to get anywhere,” says Roth. “But I am writing business. Everyone needs insurance and as Williamson and Maury Counties become full, Winchester will grow.”
In 2015, Roth left his position as Senior District Sales Manager for Erie to open his own independent agency, Capitol Insurance Services. At Capitol, his experience in all aspects of insurance – claims, marketing and sales – gives him a leg up on the competition. “Throughout my career, I’ve been responsible for knowing what my competitors were doing,” says Roth. “I’m able to understand policy language in a way that can greatly benefit my clients. Specifically, you don’t want to file a claim unless you know it’s going to be to your benefit. I can look at the loss, analyze and interpret the policy, and advise accordingly.” It’s what you’d expect from your hometown insurance agent. CapitolInsTN.com

Roth is an avid motorcyclist. Later this year he plans to ride roundtrip from Spring Hill to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.
