LIFESTYLE LETTER

Letter from the Editor September: the season’s changing of the guard, back-to-school routines, and knitwear once relegated to the spare closet—if Texas weather permits. A fresh beginning in more ways than one, and the perfect time to reimagine what’s possible before the coming holidays. First up: the arrival of our highly anticipated Style issue, not to be confused with Vogue’s annual fashion behemoth. (Although we did include a few sartorial moments to enjoy.) This edition is all about cultivating the beauty in your home, your wardrobe, and your life. Because style is what you make of it, and it’s all around us in The Woodlands. As stated in our cover story featuring the stylish Mike and Ally Seder, “their understanding of style—architectural, interior, and personal—has grown over time, just as The Woodlands has.” This theme of style’s many genres can be seen throughout the issue and its spotlighted artisans—from the dusty footpaths at Round Top to the cool highlands of Jalisco to our very own community. But it imparts more than just material worth. A recap of Interfaith’s annual “The Walk” fashion show glimmers with philanthropic purpose, and our Q&A with Terravista Interior Design Group reveals the founder’s top decorating tips alongside her grace-driven “why.” And because a Style issue would not be complete without an accessories gift guide, we feature five items of “repurposed luxury” whose origins may surprise you. Many may say that, when it comes to style, you know it when you see it. I can’t argue with that. Whether it’s a classically tailored ensemble evoking a bygone era, or an ephemeral impression you get when passing another person—an artful, cultivated know-how in their bearing—style is hard to miss. But I’ve also come to learn from the most stylish people in my life that while trends may come and go, and items acquire and lose their value, one thing remains sure: a humble heart never goes out of fashion. We hope you enjoy this issue and come away with newfound anticipation for what this September could bring.

House of Colour | 832.510.6651

Have you ever heard someone reference a season when discussing their wardrobe? If so, then you’re one step closer to understanding the world of House of Colour’s Bethany Straub. After working in the fashion industry for over 25 years, Straub relied on her expertise to develop the House of Colour Woodlands location. With color analysis, she strives to foster a client’s confidence and individuality by enhancing their features, clothing, style, and makeup. In her two-hour Color Analysis session, Straub discusses how color relates to the four seasons that make up a color palette. She then holds up multicolored drapes to show the skin’s color changes—features brighten with the right tones and dull with the wrong ones. Once she discovers her client’s season, Straub reviews the color palette, including the best shades for clothing, makeup, and hair. House of Colour also offers a Style Analysis, closet clean-outs, personal shopping, packing for trips and advanced makeup techniques. Straub hopes her clients walk away with clarity and direction about their style and a newfound confidence that makes them feel amazing. She accommodates groups of up to three, offering a fun experience for families or an enjoyable girls’ trip. For appointments call 832.510.6651.

For a tour photo shoot, Shakira glammed it up in Rockabilly Baroness clothing, boots and accessories.

The High Fashion Hub in Round Top That Should Be on Your Radar

When Cathy Mace Frietsch and her husband moved from Houston to Round Top, they had a vision. The couple purchased and renovated a group of landmark buildings at 550 N. Washington Street, opening Stone Cellar Restaurant & Jon Perez Lounge, The Mark Speakeasy, and restoring the historic Round Top Dance Hall. Then Frietsch turned her eye to what she loves most: the world of high-end fashion and design. Shoppers who traverse the dirt pathways and gravel parking lots during the Round Top Antiques + Design Show know style, says Frietsch. Cowboy hats, peasant dresses, cute jeans, broken-in yet stylish boots—looks that move effortlessly from white tablecloth luncheons on through an afternoon of mud, wind, and glaring sun, keeping them chic as they power shop among the hundreds of white tents that populate the area during “The Show.” Frietsch knew that Round Top was ready for someone to tap into that aesthetic and create a truly couture shopping experience. The Frietsches debuted Rockabilly Baroness in 2019, founding the store on a sense of style that embodies the Western mystique, says Frietsch. Located within their growing style and entertainment complex, The 550 District, the boutique caters to fashion-forward shoppers who appreciate the panache of well-made designer pieces. CONTINUED >

From boots to bags, everything is meticulously crafted. The shop’s millinery collection features Thunderbird hats by Allen Wilkerson, whose work is “off the charts,” says Frietsch. Other makers include Carlos Hernandez, M. Renee Designs, Rebecca Brannon’s leather and hide coats and bags, Viva Denverado luxury vintage, handwoven Chimayo jackets, and Suede & Honey designs by artist Courtney Jansky. The pièce de resistance? An expansive “boot room” with a dreamy array of vintage boots in a rainbow of colors and exotic leathers, including boots from Frietsch’s own Cathy Collection of haute-upcycled creations. Rockabilly Baroness is the anchor store within The 550 Market, says Frietsch, a curated collection of luxury shops offering everything from art to furniture to jewelry and vintage clothing. This hub for haute design has gained even more momentum with the addition of Rockabilly Baroness Director of Operations Christoph Ayala, who spent years as a stylist and runway director for Italian and French fashion houses, including Versace and Balmain. “I love mixing the fashion experience I have from Miami, New York, LA—I call it luxury Western,” says Ayala. The Western aesthetic is trending not only in the U.S. but internationally, he reveals. From billionaire tech moguls to A-list pop stars, luxury Western is hot. It’s a relaxed-yet-polished look that can take you places without looking like you’re working at it. “We have customers from Italy, Brazil, France. That great Americana look never loses its aura,” says Ayala. He says that global pop star Shakira recently wore fashions by Rockabilly Baroness. “We styled Shakira, first in San Antonio, then in Houston. It was a private photo shoot for her traveling tour.” The high fashion scene in Round Top continues to expand its influence. Now, multiple runway events are held during the spring and fall shows, prominent among them, The 550 Market Red Carpet Fashion Show inside the historic Round Top Dance Hall. Rockabilly and The 550 Market are the perfect ecosystem for fashion and art, says Frietsch. “I want the beauty to shine through—unique pieces you won’t find anywhere else in the country,” she says. “We are at the helm of such a great mixture of fashion and furniture,” adds Ayala. Frietsch and Ayala place emphasis on handcrafted, heirloom-worthy pieces that can transform an outfit.

Designer silver and turquoise accessories are among the collectible pieces.

"We blend our vendors and our inventory with the visual appeal of the art," says Frietsch.

Inside 321 Skin Glow Med Spa, Where Science Meets Style

3-2-1: Glow In an age of intentional living, skincare has evolved into more than a daily habit—it has become a personal ritual, a reflection of individual style as intimate as wardrobe or décor. At the forefront of this refined approach is 321 Skin Glow, a med spa located in The Woodlands and grounded in science, aesthetics, and understated elegance. This serene destination is quickly emerging as a trusted name among those who consider skincare not just a routine task, but a meaningful investment in self-expression and long-term wellness.

26

S PA DAY | BEAUTY

The spa was founded by seasoned beauty industry leaders Jaime Castle and Dr. Laurence Dryer, whose extensive backgrounds with companies like Obagi Cosmeceuticals and Clinical Skin have shaped their vision. Their goal wasn’t to replicate the med spa model; it was to redefine it. 321 Skin Glow was created as a sanctuary where science meets style, and where personalization and performance are treated with equal care. Nestled in the Harper Preserve center, the space speaks volumes. Minimal and tranquil, the interiors embrace soft lighting, organic textures, and clean architectural lines that prioritize privacy and comfort. Rather than a clinical atmosphere, visitors step into a refined environment that feels more like a private wellness atelier. The service menu is both expansive and thoughtfully curated. Clients have access to advanced treatments such as Aerolase laser therapies, HydraFacials, and microneedling enhanced with exosomes, all administered by licensed professionals trained to deliver both results and reassurance. A lineup of customized facials allows for tailored skin correction and rejuvenation, while hair removal, weight loss therapies, and hair-restoration treatments provide a comprehensive approach to self-care. Beyond the treatment room, 321 Skin Glow distinguishes itself through its boutique dermaceutical offerings: a concise selection of high-efficacy skincare lines such as SkinBetter Science,

Revision Skincare, ZO Skin Health, Hydrinity, and Face Reality. Every product is vetted for clinical performance and ingredient integrity, with the spa operating as an authorized retailer for each line—an assurance of authenticity that’s increasingly rare. One of the spa’s most talked-about categories is its retinol collection, featuring six formulations that span from beginner to advanced. Clients are guided through product selection and proper integration, ensuring that even the most potent active ingredients align with skin type, tolerance, and lifestyle. This educational, hands-on approach to skincare positions the spa not merely as a provider, but as a partner in its clients’ long-term routines. Much of 321 Skin Glow’s refinement stems from the expertise behind the scenes. Castle and Dryer bring decades of innovation, strategy, and product development to the table. But the spa’s warm, stylish presence is made complete by Chief Medical Aesthetics Practitioner Lewie Silva, who joined the team in early 2025. Silva brings celebrity clientele experience and relatability, offering a balance of elevated care and approachable service to clients. This September, as style takes center stage, this modern beauty destination offers a timely reminder that elegance takes various forms—radiant skin, confidence, and a sense of ease are the new hallmarks of modern luxury. 321 Skin Glow is poised to help clients achieve all three.

Designed with Grace A CONVERSATION WITH SHERRY MILLIEN OF TERRAVISTA INTERIOR DESIGN GROUP

While the modern world often worships surface gloss, Sherry Millien is building sanctuaries. From The Woodlands to the Texas Hill Country, her firm, Terravista Interior Design Group, discreetly defines a more grounded version of luxury. Known for one-of-akind interiors that reflect not only a client’s aesthetic but their values, Sherry brings a deeply personal touch to every home she enters. A mother, an artist, and a woman of deep faith, she speaks with the kind of clarity that feels rare in today’s world. We were fortunate to sit down with Sherry to talk about what makes a home truly beautiful—and how her journey continues to shape the future of Terravista Interior Design Group. Q: TERRAVISTA HAS A DISTINCT IDENTITY—HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN? A: In 2002, I opened my first firm and a retail space in Indian Springs. But in 2008, I felt God calling me to step away and advocate full-time for my daughter, who has Down syndrome. In 2017, I returned—this time, with a new purpose. Terravista loosely translates to “beautiful view,” and I like to believe that’s what God sees when He looks down on the way we serve others through our work. Q: WHAT DOES “ONE-OF-A-KIND” MEAN IN YOUR WORLD? A: To me, it means honoring who each client truly is. I spend time understanding how they live, what they value, and how they want to feel at home. That emotional connection is where design begins. A house becomes a home when it reflects their story—beautifully and authentically. Sherry Millien, Founder of Terravista Interior Design Group.

Q: CAN YOU SHARE A PROJECT THAT’S STAYED WITH YOU? A: A primary suite redesign for a woman in a season of personal loss. Her home held deep emotional ties to her late husband, and we were tasked with turning it into a space that felt like her sanctuary. The challenge was working within the existing footprint while bringing peace, light, and life into the space. It wasn’t just design—it was healing. Q: HOW DO YOU BALANCE LUXURY AND SPIRITUAL GROUNDING? A: Luxury, to me, is how a space cares for you. Many of our clients are caregivers, high achievers, and givers. I understand that life because I’ve lived it. So our goal is to design homes that restore. My faith guides me to create spaces that feel like grace—safe, beautiful, and deeply supportive. Q: YOU’RE EXPANDING—HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN THAT PERSONALIZED FEEL? A: We’ve built a structured yet flexible process that allows each client to feel fully seen. Whether they’re in Houston or beyond, we’ve refined how we communicate, gather insights, and manage every detail to ensure the experience remains intimate and seamless. Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE ENTERING LUXURY DESIGN FOR THE FIRST TIME? A: Start with function. Stay true to yourself. Forget trends. Invest in what you love and create a space that gives back to you every day. That’s timeless design—and that’s what we’re here to help you build. Whether redesigning a quiet retreat or curating a full-scale estate, Sherry Millien brings soul to every surface. Design isn’t just about beauty—it’s about purpose, and the quiet luxury of coming home to peace.

THE SEDERS How the Real Estate Duo Builds Their Legacy in Style Mike and Ally Seder, of The Mike Seder Group.

34

T R E N D SE T T E R | HO ME + D E SIGN

The Seders' legacy of style continues to unfold.

In The Woodlands, style doesn’t simply refer to how one dresses. It’s a way of living. Few understand that better than Mike and Ally Seder. For nearly four decades, the husband-and-wife duo behind The Mike Seder Group has helped shape not just the region’s real estate landscape but its aesthetic identity, cultivating a community where design, legacy, and lifestyle converge with quiet elegance.

DESIGN AND INTUITION

From their earliest days, Mike and Ally brought distinct perspectives to the homes they helped their clients envision. Mike, born in Chile and trained in home design, brings a structural intuition to his role—he can walk into a dated space and instantly reimagine it with cleaner lines and timeless materials. “I often work with sellers on renovations,” he shares. “My background helps me guide them on what updates will not only sell the home, but elevate it.” Ally brings warmth and style to the experience, connecting with buyers on a deeply personal level. “It really is a treasure hunt,” she says. “I love that moment when I walk into a home and instantly know—this is the one for a specific client.”

DEFINING A MARKET

Together, the Seders have built a team that not only leads the market but also defines it. Their names are synonymous with luxury living in The Woodlands, and now, with their recent expansion into Austin and partnership with eXp Realty, their reach has gone global. “Our transition to eXp gave us access to cutting-edge tools and international exposure,” Mike explains. “Our listings now appear

on platforms like Mansion Global and the Robb Report. It’s about presenting properties with the level of style and sophistication they so richly deserve.” But for the Seders, success is not a solo journey. Their love story began with Ally trying to set Mike up with a friend (a match that, thankfully, never materialized). That spark grew into a business built on mutual respect and balance. Mike tends to listings and logistics; Ally connects buyers with homes and elevates the marketing voice. “We work independently but together,” Ally says. “Mike’s the visionary who sees what’s possible in a home’s structure. I’m the one who brings that vision to life in our videos and descriptions.”

STYLE THROUGH THE YEARS

Their understanding of style—architectural, interior, and personal—has grown over time, just as The Woodlands has. Once a visionary concept in master planning, the area is now a flourishing tapestry of neighborhoods, each with its own charm. The Seders have witnessed every phase of its evolution. “When we first arrived, it was brilliant but barely built,” Ally recalls. “George Mitchell’s vision of living, working, and playing all in one community—it was ahead of its time.” With their experience spanning tens of thousands of properties, they’ve seen design trends ebb and flow. “Right now, we’re seeing a shift toward clean lines, smooth walls, minimal trim, open spaces,” Ally notes. “But traditional homes will always be in style. Ultimately, it depends on what speaks to the client.” Their own home leans timeless. S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 5 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C OM/TH E WO O D L A N D S

“I dress in pieces that flatter and last,” Ally shares. “Our home is the same. We choose one focal point, something beautiful and enduring, and design around it.” Their eye gravitates toward consistent flooring, beautiful light fixtures, and, naturally, a kitchen worthy of gathering.

LEGACY IN MOTION

Style, for the Seders, extends far beyond visual choices. It’s a philosophy of life. Their community involvement reflects this ethos. From serving on nonprofit boards to hosting signature fundraisers like Open Your Purse for Change—which blends fashion, philanthropy, and purpose—Ally has helped raise awareness and funds for causes close to her heart. “It began after I saw the room where domestic violence victims could choose donated purses and toiletries. That moment stayed with me,” she says. “Now, people across the community donate designer handbags. The stories we hear from survivors at the event are deeply moving.”

"Traditional homes will always be in style," Ally says.

Mike echoes a similar sentiment: “Success is only meaningful when it’s shared. That’s the legacy we want to leave.” And that legacy is already unfolding. Sons Patrick and Brett have joined the team, along with daughter-in-law Megan. “It’s a blessing to work with our family,” Ally says. “And we’re especially excited about The Ritz-Carlton Residences coming to The Woodlands. They’ll set a new standard for luxury living here.” For a couple whose careers began on separate paths—Mike in home construction, Ally in corporate sales—their alignment in real estate seems inevitable in retrospect. “Ted Bates at RE/MAX invited Mike to join after seeing his sales success,” Ally recalls. “I started by doing his marketing. Then I realized I wanted to be part of it fully.”

THE SEDER STANDARD

From early mornings to late-night listing calls, the Seders remain in sync—Mike bringing precision and punctuality, and Ally, heart and flair. “He’s always early,” she jokes. “And I’m the one who’ll call a client mid-video shoot to say, ‘This is the house you’ve been waiting for!’” They’re quick to credit The Woodlands as their muse. “There’s just something about coming home here,” Mike says. “We’ve traveled the world, but this place? It still gives us that feeling.” Perhaps that’s the clearest expression of the Seder style: understated excellence, rooted in family and driven by purpose. Whether they’re staging a showpiece home or organizing a charity gala, Mike and Ally do more than sell homes. They help define the way we Woodlands residents live—and live beautifully.

AGED WELL Style, Spirits, and the Virtue of Time

There is a particular hush that descends upon a proper aging room—not silence for silence’s sake, but the earned quiet of craftsmanship allowed to unfold without interference. Not the artificial murmur of a climate-controlled cellar, but the kind of reverent stillness found only where time has been granted authority. At Destilería La Alteña, nestled in the highlands of Jalisco, that hush carries weight. Row upon row of American oak barrels rest in dignified slumber, each containing tequila that will not see daylight for another three years. The master distiller, Carlos Camarena, moves among them with the measured deliberation of a man who understands that his role is to steward a process that began long before him. “To rush is to disrespect,” he often tells me, his English precise despite his preference for Spanish. “Not just the spirit, but the land that created it.” It’s the kind of sentiment that would sound contrived coming from a brand ambassador in a tailored suit. From Camarena— whose family has produced tequila for four generations on this very soil—it carries the simple gravity of truth. Prepping the "piña" of the Blue Agave. Perfection takes time.

THE PATIENCE OF PROPER THINGS

In our age of instant downloads and overnight deliveries, where convenience masquerades as sophistication, there remains something strikingly countercultural about spirits that demand decades to reach their potential. In a world of immediacy, they are elegantly analog—more heirloom than hashtag. An añejo tequila or mezcal represents a defiance of modern impatience—a quiet insistence that some pleasures cannot, must not, be rushed. The finest agave plants used in top-tier tequilas grow for twelve to fifteen years before harvest. Their journey from earth to bottle requires nearly two decades—a timeline that would bewilder most corporate boardrooms. And yet, it is this very unhurried pace that gives rise to the sort of depth no marketing campaign can fabricate. To that end, I find myself increasingly drawn to aged spirits not merely for their complex profiles, but for what they represent: a commitment to legacy over convenience, to inheritance over immediacy.

THE ARISTOCRACY OF CRAFT

There exists a quiet aristocracy of craft, a noble pursuit not of titles, but of devotion. The men and women who devote their lives to perfecting slow processes belong to this refined circle. Like the English dry-stone wallers who work CONTINUED >

INTERFAITH’S ‘THE WALK’ FASHION SHOW

Courtney Pell Wilkerson, honored as a 2024 Community Champion, shines in a moment of recognition at last year’s show.

Strut, sparkle, and shine—The Woodlands Waterway Marriott ballroom was transformed into a runway of purpose as Interfaith of The Woodlands hosted The Walk 2025, its dazzling annual fundraiser held on August 23rd. Beyond the glitz, this night honored the true stars: Interfaith of The Woodlands’s 2025 Community Champions. Born from the Giving Goes Glam luncheon, The Walk evolved into a vibrant evening event four years ago. Interfaith, a Woodlands-based social service agency, reimagined the luncheon as a high-energy, New York-style fashion show to spotlight those making a difference in The Woodlands and deliver a more immersive experience for guests.

HONORING THOSE WHO WALK THE WALK

The heart of The Walk is its tribute to Community Champions—individuals who excel in supporting Interfaith’s mission of building a more loving and caring community through service. This year’s CONTINUED >

honorees were Dr. Adrienne Blessing, Alison Henderson, Catie Fuller, Jason Higham, Barry Blanton, and Jim Parisi. The event also paid tribute to Todd and Carol Durkee, naming them honorary chairs in recognition of their decades-long commitment and heartfelt service to Interfaith.

A SENSATIONAL NIGHT OF FASHION

The Walk 2025 dazzled as a sleek, professionally crafted fashion spectacle. Courtney Pell Wilkerson styled professional models in the latest looks from Pell 1990, while collaborating with Market Street General Manager Noemi Gonzalez to produce the high-energy show. Hugo Boss supplied menswear, with Thomas Markle providing jewelry. Professional models graced the runway in trunk show styles before Interfaith’s Community Champions paraded the runway to applause, confetti showers, and glowing wavers. The celebration continued into the evening with an elegant after-party, sponsored annually by The Kink Team Real Estate Group.

FUELING LIFE-CHANGING SUPPORT

Proceeds from The Walk fund Interfaith’s wraparound programs, including food, housing assistance, and job support through its Workforce Solutions offices. One story illustrates the impact: a single mother escaping domestic violence came to Interfaith in crisis. Interfaith staff met with her and connected her with employment assistance through Workforce, while Interfaith assisted in covering security deposits, utilities, childcare, school supplies, food, and gas cards. The mom also put in the work—and with Interfaith’s generous support, within two months her family was thriving.

SUCCESS MEASURED IN IMPACT

Attendance at The Walk has grown from 450 to nearly 700 guests, as an increasing number of people—including new generations—become engaged in Interfaith’s mission, contributing to its success. “Beyond fundraising, The Walk introduces new donors and volunteers to serving our community,” says President and CEO Missy Herndon.
