Here’s to New Adventures: Our ReLaunch Issue
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the Explore Issue—and to the relaunch of our magazine in The Oranges! If you’ve picked this up and thought, Hey, this looks a little different, you’re absolutely right. We’ve rebranded with a fresh name, a sharper focus, and the same mission: to celebrate the vibrant people, places, and stories that make this community shine. Consider this issue our "boarding pass" to explore not just the world around us—but what’s possible when we embrace new beginnings.
This relaunch is also personal for me. I recently moved back to the area after several years away, but I actually grew up in the area. Coming home to the Oranges—where I once spent weekends grabbing bagels or riding NJ Transit into the city—has been incredibly special. I’m beyond excited to be telling stories from a place that has always felt like home. Summer, after all, is made for exploration. Whether you’re hopping on a plane or simply walking a new path in your neighborhood, there’s adventure everywhere—if you’re paying attention. This month, we’re sharing stories that inspire movement, reflection, and connection.
Our cover feature with Real Housewives of New Jersey star Rachel Fuda is the perfect starting point. In “Family Comes First,” Rachel opens up about juggling reality TV, motherhood, and her family's values with honesty, humor, and heart. Her story is a refreshing reminder that even in the spotlight, what matters most is at home. Read more on page 10.
Looking to get away without actually going far? You’re in luck. The Ultimate Weekend Getaway Right in NJ (page 14) proves you don’t need a boarding pass for a refreshing reset. But if the salt air is calling, flip to page 18 for our Bahamas Feature, full of travel tips, inspiration, and a healthy dose of wanderlust.
We’re also diving into life’s seasons—literally and metaphorically. Into the Wild (page 28) follows us to the Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo. And How to Stay Active and Thrive After Retirement (page 22) is a reminder that adventure doesn’t have an age limit.
And for those whose idea of exploring starts in the kitchen, don’t miss Branzino for Heroes on page 17. It’s a simple, flavorful recipe you’ll come back to all summer long—with a little nod to the heroes who inspire us.
Whether you're navigating new paths, flavors, or zip codes this season, we hope this issue encourages you to explore boldly—and enjoy the journey.
Cheers!

Rachel Fuda on Balancing Motherhood and Reality TV Fame
The Fuda Family
For Rachel Fuda, star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, fame isn’t the finish line—family is. While millions of Bravo fans know her for her polished style, quick wit, and reality TV presence, Fuda remains firmly grounded in her role at home.
“Being a mom is what defines me right now,” she shares. “This is a very temporary little-kid phase of life, and I’m trying to be as present as possible.”
That phase is a full one. Fuda and her husband, John, are raising four children, ranging from a newborn to a high school senior. Their dinner conversations span from college decisions to toddler tantrums—and somehow, she makes it all look seamless.
“I’m sending one son off to college and caring for a newborn at the same time,” she explains. “It’s full-circle chaos—but it’s beautiful.”
Fuda, who was born on Long Island and raised in Bergen County, now calls Franklin Lakes home. Staying close to her roots has always been important. “There’s something special about knowing who your kids go to school with, who your neighbors are. You don’t need to hang out every weekend, but it’s nice to be surrounded by familiar, good people.”
RACHEL FUDA - TV PERSONALITY
Instagram + TikTok : @rachelfuda
Style by: Cenia Paredes - @ceniany
Glam by: @kevinkelly.hair and @darianmarie_mua
Beyond her role on television, she’s a businesswoman. Together with her husband, she recently launched Glam Studio Suites in Norwood and helps operate Valet King, a tri-state parking concierge service. The workload is hefty, but the Fuda’s are clear on what matters.
“We’ve always known what’s important—family, marriage, and doing right by people,” she notes.
That clarity has helped her navigate the whirlwind of reality TV without losing herself. When she joined RHONJ, her youngest daughter Giuliana was just eight weeks old. “It was wild,” she laughs. “But we had a family conversation before committing. I wanted my oldest, Jaiden, to be comfortable with it. I’m really big on boundaries.”
Jaiden, now a high school senior, embraced the opportunity—and even enjoys his own local fame. “He walks the boardwalk in Seaside Heights and gets stopped by girls asking for pictures. He’s loving it.”
Still, the public spotlight has its downsides, especially online. Like many reality stars, Fuda has had to set clear boundaries with social media.
“I’ve been in therapy for a long time, and I’m a big advocate for mental health. People will judge everything—from your parenting to the color of your shorts,” she says with a wry smile. “But I’ve learned the less you read, the better. Ignorance really is bliss.”
Support comes not only from within her home, but also from her Bravo circle. Melissa and Joe Gorga—fellow castmates have become close friends. The families connected through their sons, who played youth football together, and that connection quickly deepened.
As for the show, Fuda takes a measured approach. She’s grateful for the experiences—attending the VMAs, meeting Bravo fans at BravoCon—but she keeps her life in perspective.
“The show is secondary to me. My life doesn’t change whether I’m on or off it,” she affirms. “What I have in my real life is what matters most.”
Looking ahead, she’s starting to think about the next phase. “Right now, I’m in survival mode,” she laughs. “But once the kids are all in school, I’d love to do something for myself. Write a book, maybe launch something new—something that fills my soul.”
Her outlook is shaped by the long view of parenting. “Your kids need you in different ways as they grow. When they’re older, I know I’ll need something for me, too—something that’s just mine.”
Giving back is already part of her story. Diagnosed with arthritis at just four years old, she had both hips replaced by 18. Today, she works closely with the Arthritis Foundation, hosting events and raising awareness for young people living with the condition.
“There were no resources when I was 14, going through all that. I felt so different from everyone else,” she shares. “Now I try to be the support I didn’t have.”
Through it all—motherhood, business, TV—her values haven’t wavered. “John always says, ‘One hand washes the other, and two hands wash a face.’ That’s how New Jersey works. That’s how we work.”
For Fuda, staying grounded in what matters most—family, community, and authenticity—is the real key to navigating it all.

MY ESCAPE TO PENDRY NATIRAR
Sometimes, the perfect escape isn’t far away—it’s just a scenic hour from NYC. Tucked into the rolling hills of Somerset County, New Jersey, Pendry Natirar feels like a world apart. It's where luxury meets nature, and the result is nothing short of magic. If you're craving a weekend that actually feels like a vacation (without the hassle of travel), this hidden gem delivers in every way.
Luxury in the Heart of Nature
Pendry Natirar isn’t your average weekend stay—it’s an experience. Set on 90 acres of pristine countryside, the property is a stunning blend of rustic charm and modern sophistication. From the moment I drove through the gates, I felt the shift: slower pace, fresh air, and peace I hadn’t realized I needed.
Every detail of the design is inspired by nature—from the earthy tones to the sprawling gardens and panoramic views.
UNEXPECTED EXPERIENCES THAT STICK WITH YOU
What makes Pendry Natirar special isn’t just the setting—it’s how it invites you to engage with it. This isn’t a place where you stay inside and watch the view from afar. It’s a place to explore, connect, and rediscover the little joys of being outdoors.
A MORNING ON THE FARM
One of my favorite parts of the trip? A visit to The Farm at Pendry Natirar. I joined a guided tour through the barnyard and got up close with their free-range chickens, fluffy sheep, and yes—adorable baby chicks. Beyond being cute, it was a real look into the farm’s sustainable practices and how everything on the property works in harmony with the land. It felt wholesome, grounding, and honestly, a little therapeutic.
BREAKFAST, FRESH FROM THE HEN HOUSE
Another charming surprise? The estate’s own hen house, home to over 150 free-range chickens. Their eggs go straight to Ninety Acres, the on-site restaurant, and end up on your breakfast plate the next morning. There’s something special about tasting a dish made with ingredients grown just steps away—it’s hyper-local dining at its best.
A DOSE OF ADVENTURE (IF YOU WANT IT)
If you’re like me and crave a little action between spa time and wine tastings, Pendry has you covered. Thanks to their partnership with Compass Sports, there are plenty of ways to get moving outdoors.
HIKING THE GROUNDS
I kicked off the weekend with a hike along the estate’s private trails, winding through wildflowers and woods with views that looked like something out of a movie. It was peaceful, energizing, and the perfect way to shake off the week.
ARCHERY & AXE THROWING
Then, just for fun, I booked a private archery and axe throwing session—because why not? It was an hour of unexpected laughs and surprisingly satisfying aim practice. A little competitive, a little cathartic, and a whole lot of fun.
A WEEKEND THAT TRULY FEELS LIKE AN ESCAPE
Pendry Natirar was everything I didn’t know I needed: a luxurious yet down-to-earth retreat with just the right amount of adventure, indulgence, and fresh air. I left feeling lighter, calmer, and reconnected—to nature, to the moment, and to myself.
So if you're looking for a getaway that doesn't require a plane ticket but still feels like a true escape, put Pendry Natirar at the top of your list. Trust me—you won’t want to leave. Plan Your Stay

Branzino for Heroes
SAUTÉED LEMON GARLIC BRANZINO WITH WARM TOMATO SALAD OVER BABY ARUGULA
If you’ve ever had the desire to be bathed in the unfettered sunshine of your family’s sincerest adoration, then buy them a puppy. But if you just want them to love you a little more, make this dish and enjoy the warm embers of their gratitude. It’s that easy.

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY METROPOLITAN SEAFOOD GOURMET
INGREDIENTS:
• 1½ to 2 pounds of Branzino fillet (or use Sea Bass, Flounder, or even Red Snapper)
• 3 tablespoons olive oil, separated
• 2 teaspoons lemon juice, plus the juice of one lemon
• ½ teaspoon lemon zest
• 2 large cloves garlic, crushed and finely minced, divided
• 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
• Salt and pepper
• Flour for dusting
• ½ to 1 teaspoon Bomba (Calabrian chili paste)
• ½ cup dry white wine
• 1 pint grape tomatoes, halved
• 4 handfuls baby arugula
DIRECTIONS:
1. Season the Branzino fillets generously on both sides.
2. In a glass pie plate, whisk together 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, lemon zest, half the garlic, and rosemary. Add the fillets, turn to coat, and refrigerate for 20 minutes, flipping once.
3. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Remove fillets from marinade and dredge lightly in flour, shaking off excess.
4. Sear fillets skin-side down for 4 minutes or until golden and crisp. Flip and cook another 3 minutes, or until just cooked through. Transfer to a warm platter.
5. In the same pan, add remaining olive oil, then sauté the rest of the garlic and Bomba for 30 seconds. Pour in the wine and simmer until reduced by half. Add tomatoes and heat through. Stir in lemon juice and season to taste. 6. To serve, divide baby arugula among four plates, top with fish, and spoon the warm tomato mixture over. Pour any extra juices from the platter into the pan, swirl, and drizzle over everything.
Son of a gun! I promised myself I wouldn’t cry today—but then I pictured the new puppy licking my face… sob, sniff, sniff… whew. I gotta go.

A BAHAMIAN Escape
Travel in Luxury with British Colonial Nassau
ARTICLE BY CARLY MAC MANUS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRITISH COLONIAL NASSAU
There’s something magical about stepping off a plane and straight into paradise. The warm Bahamian breeze hits you, the sun is shining, and you realize—yep, this is real life. I was lucky enough to be in the Bahamas on a recent editorial travel trip with a group of fellow writers and editors, invited to experience the newly renovated British Colonial Nassau. With over 100 years of history and a $50 million facelift, the property is now a crown jewel of the Caribbean—and it lived up to every expectation.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: OLD MEETS NEW IN THE BEST WAY
From the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I was in for something special. The hotel’s blend of colonial charm and modern luxury made an immediate impression. It’s the kind of place where you feel like royalty—without needing to dress like you’re attending a gala (thankfully). The lobby is grand but welcoming, full of rich textures and tropical touches.
I grabbed a cocktail at Woodes Rogers Tavern, the hotel’s signature martini bar, and watched the mixologists craft drinks like it was art. Dinner that evening was a delicious blend of local and international flavors—a perfect start to what would become an unforgettable few days.
BAHAMIAN FOOD & CULTURE: CONCH, RUM, AND A WHOLE LOT OF FLAVOR
The next morning, I eased into the day with strong coffee and pastries at the Tamarind Market Place, followed by a little beach time on the property’s private stretch of sand. But soon it was time to explore.
BRITISH
Lunch took us to the lively and colorful Arawak Cay for the famous Fish Fry. Conch salad, fried snapper, and Bahama Mamas were the stars of the show, and yes—I tried the conch pistons. As I cautiously took a bite, I couldn’t help but think, my dad would be proud I’m trying something new It wasn’t just about the food—it was about the experience.
That afternoon, we headed to John Watling’s Distillery for a rum tasting. I’ve had plenty of rum in my day, but tasting five varieties while surrounded by Bahamian history was a whole new level. I even got to bottle my own. I had to remind myself—this is work.
EXUMA ADVENTURE: SPEEDBOATS AND BEACH PIGS
You simply can’t go to Nassau without doing the Exuma Adventure—and it ended up being the highlight of the trip. We climbed aboard high-speed boats and jetted off across crystal-clear waters, stopping to snorkel, feed iguanas, and wade with stingrays. But the main event? The beach pigs.
They were somehow even cuter in real life. (Yes, I took a photo. Yes, I’m framing it.) Swimming with them was a surreal, bucket-list experience that I’ll never forget.
Lunch was served on a private island— fresh seafood, sunshine, and nothing on the agenda but soaking it all in. I kept thinking, can you bottle this feeling?

BEACHSIDE DINNER: THE PERFECT SENDOFF
“It was a reminder of the unexpected joys that come from embracing adventure and new experiences.” - Carly Mac Manus
Our final night included a private beachfront dinner—grilled fish, soft music, and a star-filled sky. With waves crashing behind us and a cold drink in hand, it was the perfect close to a perfect trip. Even for the non-seafood eaters, there was something for everyone, and the atmosphere was simply unmatched.
FINAL THOUGHTS: A TRIP TO REMEMBER
As I packed up to leave British Colonial Nassau, I kept thinking about how lucky I was to be part of this unforgettable experience. Between deshelling conch, sipping rum, island hopping, and swimming with pigs, it was a whirlwind of discovery. But that’s what travel does—it pushes you, excites you, and reminds you that life is meant to be lived out loud.
And I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’m already planning my next escape to this tropical paradise.
HOW TO STAY ACTIVE AND THRIVE After Retirement
A CONVERSATION WITH RIGHT AT HOME OF ESSEX COUNTY
ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY MAEGHAN SCOTT
Retirement marks a significant transition from decades of routine-driven days to newfound freedom. “That can be either scary or exciting—or, more likely, a combination of the two,” says Maeghan Scott, Owner & Operator of Right at Home of Essex County. While the prospect of long, unstructured days may seem appealing to older adults, it can also affect them in a negative way. The solution: staying active, both mentally and physically.
Right at Home of Essex County recognizes the importance of keeping an active mind and body for older adults and seniors. Staying active is crucial for maintaining physical and mental health, continuing personal growth, and avoiding the pitfalls of isolation during the aging journey. Retirement is the perfect time to dive into interests and hobbies there wasn’t time for during working years. From gardening and painting to writing and performing, engaging in hobbies enhances life satisfaction and provides meaningful ways to spend time.
Here’s why and how retirees can live their best lives by staying engaged with life.
THE IMPORTANCE OF STAYING ACTIVE
“Many working people don’t realize how much their work and daily routine benefit their well-being,” Scott says. “Yes, it’s important to manage work-related stress and all the other ways jobs can affect us. But at the same time, most jobs get us out of the house, they require us to interact with others, and they often keep us attuned to new technologies and information.” Once that structure goes away, we need to remember a couple of key benefits of staying active:
• Physical and mental health benefits: Regular activity helps maintain strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health, which are paramount as we age. But the benefits of staying active during our golden years go beyond the physical aspects; engaging in various activities can also ward off cognitive decline. Activities that stimulate the brain, like learning new skills or hobbies, can keep the mind sharp and resilient. • Combating isolation: Retirement can often lead to feelings of loneliness, especially after leaving a busy work environment. Isolation is a known risk factor for depression among older adults. Whether it’s through travel, classes, or community involvement, staying active as we age fosters social connections, keeping loneliness at bay.
TRAVEL: THE GATEWAY TO NEW EXPERIENCES
Traveling isn’t just about relaxation; it’s about exploration and education. For retirees, travel offers a unique way to see the world and continue learning about different cultures, histories, and peoples. Whether it’s a cruise in the Mediterranean, a road trip across the United States, or a visit to family members, travel broadens horizons and brings unforgettable experiences.
If you’re not used to traveling, you’ll have some planning to do. “For older adults,” Scott says, “an important part of planning is to think about different climates you might experience and how they might affect your comfort or even your health. Remember that climate extremes may affect you in different ways from when you were younger.” For example, if traveling to areas with extreme heat and humidity, stay hydrated, wear loose-fitting clothing, and avoid the midday sun. In colder climates, layering is key to maintaining body heat, and investing in proper footwear to prevent slips on ice is crucial.
SENIOR VOLUNTEERING: GIVING BACK AND GROWING
Volunteering is another excellent way for retirees to stay active and connected. Whether helping at a local food bank, mentoring students, or working with animal shelters, volunteering provides a sense of purpose and community involvement. “It’s also a wonderful opportunity to meet people with similar interests and values,” says Scott.
OTHER WAYS TO STAY ACTIVE AS AN OLDER ADULT
Outside of the home, consider the following:
• Exercise groups: Joining a gym or a walking group can help seniors stay physically active and socially connected. Many groups cater to older adults, focusing on gentle but effective workouts.
• Technology classes: Technology is constantly evolving. Taking classes can help retirees stay connected to modern advancements and stay up-to-date with the technology available to keep in touch with family and friends.
• Senior Centers: Local seniors centers like the JCC Metrowest in West Orange have wonderful events and programs to cater to all interests.
If it becomes a struggle to leave the home, Right at Home of Essex County offersthe ENRICH Program, designed to bring activities to our clients’ homes. With the Life Enrichment Team, led by Christine O’Keeffe, we help seniors thrive in the comfort of their own homes by bringing the social connections to you. This includes having conversation, playing games, cooking together, spending time outdoors, etc. - reminding older adults of things they loved in the past.
ACTION ITEMS FOR AN ACTIVE RETIREMENT
• Set goals. Just like at work, setting short- and longterm goals during retirement can provide direction and motivation. For example, if you’re planning a trip abroad for next year, give yourself a deadline to learn some words and phrases in the local language.
• Explore local resources. Check out community centers, libraries, recreational centers, and local colleges or universities for classes and groups that interest you. Many offer special prices for older adults.
• Plan regular activities. Schedule regular activities, much like a work calendar, to maintain a routine and ensure you have activities that are both diverse and consistent.
• Stay informed. Keep up with health recommendations and safety tips that are especially pertinent to older adults so you can enjoy activities without risking your well-being.
By embracing these practices, retirees can not only enhance their quality of life but also ensure that their golden years are active, fulfilling, and vibrant. Scott encourages retirees to “find your favorite ways to ensure that your retirement years provide continued growth and enjoyment.” And remember, Right at Home’s professional caregivers can help by lending a hand so you can enjoy your golden years. INTO THE Wild
Tucked into the wild, green coastline of Jalisco’s Costalegre, Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo offers a quieter kind of luxury—one rooted in place, tradition and the rhythms of the natural world.
The resort sits within a 3,000-acre private eco-reserve, a largely untouched stretch of Pacific coast known as the “Coast of Joy.” Just 2% of the land has been developed, and that restraint is part of the experience. The resort’s 157 accommodations—ranging from suites to private villas—are discreetly built into the landscape, offering expansive views of the ocean and surrounding jungle.
Designed by a team of leading Mexican architects and landscape designers, including Victor Legorreta, Mauricio Rocha and Mario Schjetnan, the architecture is deliberately low-profile. Terracotta-colored exteriors mirror the land, while interiors are shaped by natural textures, handmade ceramics and locally woven textiles. Much of the craftsmanship is sourced from across Mexico, grounding the resort in regional identity.
Exploring the Natural Wonder and Refined Simplicity of Four Seasons Tamarindo
ARTICLE BY CARLY MAC MANUS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY FOUR SEASONS RESORT TAMARINDO
A stay here is largely about balance: between luxury and ecology, design and wildness, privacy and connection. Days may begin with coffee on a shaded terrace perched into the stunning cliffside, or a walk down to Majahua Beach, where the sand feels almost untouched.
While the experience is intentionally unhurried, the resort does offer structure for those who want it. There’s a trio of three cascading infinity pools, a handful of quiet coves and beachfronts, and Spa Tamarindo, where treatments use native botanicals and draw on Mesoamerican traditions—including temazcal ceremonies led by local practitioners.
The resort’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its architecture. Rancho Lola, a new 35-acre working farm on the property, supports both the kitchen and the surrounding ecosystem. Guests can visit the greenhouse, take part in tree-planting efforts or join a small chef’s table dinner featuring produce harvested just hours earlier. The meliponary—home to native, stingless Melipona bees—signals a future step toward house-made honey.
The property’s three dining concepts reflect this same connection to place. Nacho leans into casual coastal fare, while Sal focuses on open-fire grilling and seafood. Coyul offers more refined flavors with seasonal ingredients, but none of it feels out of step with the region. There’s no pretense—just thoughtful, carefully made food.
An on-site Discovery Center, staffed by biologists and conservationists, introduces guests to the land’s biodiversity through hikes, marine observation and education about ongoing preservation work. For golfers, an 18-hole course designed by David Fleming winds through cliffs and jungle with panoramic ocean views.
Getting to Tamarindo is now easier with the Air & Suites Package, which includes a private flight from Puerto Vallarta to Chamela followed by a scenic drive through the reserve. It’s available to guests staying four nights or more in Cliffside or Beachfront Suites through Dec. 18.
Costalegre is still one of Mexico’s lesser-known coastlines, which may be its greatest asset. Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo doesn’t try to change that. Instead, it offers a respectful way in—an invitation to pause, look closer and let the place speak for itself.
