The headline for our feature story wrote itself: “Personal Style Begins with a Smile.” Think about it the next time you greet an old friend or meet somebody new. Lombardo of Diamond Dental Service (Lake Zurich) shares her insights and experience on the ultimate fashion accessory – your smile. There’s nothing like sinking into the gazillion-thread-count luxury of a great hotel bed, so we offer up a few resort hotels in far-away places that you may want to visit next. Closer by, every family displays a personal style with their own home. To that end we offer a peek at the furniture and accessories now available at Acosta’s Home in Lake Zurich. There’s also a terrific Open House story about a remarkable home in Long Grove that Realtor Renee Clark brought to market.

Brewery Styles (and Flavors) Continue to Evolve Locally We asked photographer Graham Blus to check out more local breweries, including two newcomers. He traveled from Libertyville to South Barrington with stops in Mundelein, Buffalo Grove and Lake Zurich, and raved about the taproom experiences. The beer was also tasty. Many spots have outdoor spaces so make plans to share a beer with somebody soon. (Graham Blus photos)

Farmers Market: Where Food is Fresh and Advice is Free We're fortunate to have so many farmers markets to choose from weekly in SW Lake County. A visit to any of them offers food fresh from the farm, along with treats that are hard to ignore. (Did somebody say kettle corn?) BARRINGTON EXPANDS POLICE FORCE The Village of Barrington formally promoted and swore in three new officers at a recent Village Board meeting. These officers include Sergeant Lori Allsteadt, Sergeant Ryan Powal and Officer Evelyn Gaitan. The mission of the Barrington Police Department is to deliver quality law enforcement services to residents and businesses of the Village of Barrington and to provide them with a safe and secure environment that fosters a sense of security in person, property and mind.

MORE GOLF CARTS COULD BE ROLLING IN NORTH BARRINGTON Over the last few years more and more drivers in the Biltmore and Oaksbury neighborhoods have taken to the streets in golf carts, sometimes piloted by underage drivers. Residents have voiced concerns about the safety issues presented by the golf carts. The Village Board took up the issue at a recent meeting to explore permitting the use of golf carts which are currently not allowed for use. A new ordinance could require that golf carts comply with State and Federal laws involving seatbelts, lighting, turn signals and other safety modifications, and may only be operated by licensed drivers with proper insurance. The board agreed to seek input from the Lake County Sheriff’s Department on safety and enforcement; the county is currently contracted to provide policing to the village.

UNDER CONTRACT
FOR GOING BACK TO THE OFFICE Make the transition back to work as easy as possible by following these tips:
SPRUCE UP YOUR WORKSPACE
Bring in any items that will provide a sense of comfort, whether that’s some new framed photos, a plant, seat cushion, blanket, or maybe even a diffuser.
22252 W LITTLE POND RD, KILDEER
5 beds | 3.2 baths| $698,900 UNDER CONTRACT
DO A TEST RUN
If possible, try working in the office for a day or two before everyone else makes their return. This will give you a chance to adjust, and will also give you an idea of commute times.
DRESS THE PART
40 OPEN PARKWAY, HAWTHORN WOODS
5 beds | 4.1 baths| $689,900
Now also may be a good time to treat yourself to new work clothes that will help you get back into the routine of things. Plus, who doesn’t love a shopping spree?
ADJUST ALARMS
You’ll need to readjust your routine to account for your commute. Establish a sleep schedule that gets you your recommended 6-8 hours, and try out those earlier alarms in the days leading up to your first day back.
PREPARE YOUR PETS
Help them adjust to your return to work by leaving the home more frequently and for longer periods of time.
DON’T FORGET YOUR NEW HABITS
Regardless of what you’ve added to your routine, make it a priority to continue taking time for yourself. And while you adjust, be patient with yourself and others as you make the return back to the “new” new normal.
