REV UP YOUR GARAGE THIS IMPRESSIVE GARAGE PROJECT ALL STARTED LAST YEAR AS A REQUEST FROM THE HOMEOWNER’S SON TO CREATE AN AT-HOME GYM. They needed to free up space in the basement by shifting some storage to the garage. So, they reached out to Closets by Design (CBD) to accomplish their organizational goals while also upgrading the look of the garage. A year later, the space looks just as clean and organized as the day it was finished, and the owner’s son is happily using his home gym.

1. Design and Installation
A designer from CBD meets with the client to discuss their storage needs. “We identify obstacles and work with the homeowner to design a storage solution that fits their space and works best for them,” says CBD project designer Trey Wight. After the customer approves the designs, cabinets are built at their factory. Next, the installation team sets up the space per the approved drawings.
2. Storage Solutions
“Clients are typically looking for garage storage solutions to accommodate belongings such as lawn and garden equipment, sporting goods and holiday decor,” explains Trey. “We use a combination of cabinets and DesignWall systems to store or hang the customer’s items.” CONTINUED CityLifestyle.com/SouthDayton

The DesignWall is a great way to save space, by hanging lawn tools, small power tools, sporting goods, and hoses or extension cords. It is available in several colors and with accessories like hooks and baskets that allow for hanging just about anything. This garage features a DesignWall hanging storage system in Grey.

4. Cabinets
Cabinets are fully customizable to fit the client’s space and store a variety of items. The floor-based systems use legs with leveling adjusters to compensate for uneven floors. The cabinets are leveled and then attached to the wall for greater stability. All cabinets are built with shelves strengthened with metal supports to hold heavier items. This design has custom Black melamine cabinets with shelf and door stiffeners. It also features doors and drawer faces in Brushed Aluminum with Matte Nickel barrel handles.

5. Flooring
CBD uses tiles that are heat, slip and chemical resistant. The tiles interlock for fast installation and come in several colors that allow the customer to create their own design. Flooring can be installed over chipped or cracked concrete and is easily cleaned using a leaf blower or hose. This project uses a smooth Traxtile polymer tile floor with a custom color and design.

MATHNASIUM HELPS FAMILIES KEEP STUDENTS ON TRACK THROUGH PANDEMIC AND BEYOND
FOR MANY FAMILIES, COVID-19 MADE A DRAMATIC CHANGE IN SCHOOLING. Instead of going to in-person classes, lessons have taken place in a patchwork of remote delivery plus occasional face to face options. This puts many parents into the unexpected role of teacher. After ensuring their child’s health and safety, parents often worry about making study time effective and the child continuing to make appropriate progress in learning. We sat down with Glenn Mikaloff, co-owner and -director of Centerville’s Mathnasium, to see how they can help. 1. WHAT IS MATHNASIUM? Mathnasium
provides
supplemental
math instruction outside of school hours to students in grades K through 12, up to pre-Calculus. Mathnasium bridges the gap between traditional and newer math programs by helping students master number facts, build computational skills, and improve number sense. Beyond facilitating good grades and top scores on standardized tests, Mathnasium cultivates an intuitive understanding of math.

CULINARY CREATIONS
P S O U T Z A E T T O T E E S THERE ARE FEW FOODS AS COMMONPLACE AS THE POTATO, BUT POTATOES AT HOME DON’T HAVE TO BE BORING. Look back to the middle of the 20th century, and you will find one of the original recipes for Potatoes Suzette, or “twice-baked potatoes.” This dish is easy to make, requiring far less prep time than oven time. That makes it a great option for those who need to multitask, fixing dinner while working from home or helping with homework. The final product is rich, creamy, and a complete departure from the common spud. We recommend making a few extra for second helpings or the next day’s lunch. ENDURING AND UPLIFTING. The combination of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating provides assurance and dependability, with a vivacious warmth. Here are some ways to reinvigorate our homes using these colors.
OUTDOOR LIVING Doctors recommend spending a minimum of 20 minutes outdoors a day to improve our health. When looking for patio sets and outdoor lounge furniture, consider gray. The color is symbolic of pebbles on the beach and can bring a subtle nod of coastal living to your backyard. Choose yellow cushions and umbrellas to keep you comfortable and safe in the sun!
BATHROOM The bathroom is the perfect room to experiment with paint colors. If your vibe is timeless and classic, look to gray walls for elegance and select yellow towels and artwork. Feeling bold? Use yellow ARTICLE ALLY STRACZEK
as an accent wall or on each wall to coordinate with gray fixtures, towels and decorative pieces. Your bathroom will be cheerful, sunny and uplifting!
