CHOCOLATE HAS BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH LOVE FOR NEARLY 700 YEARS. It is a suspected aphrodisiac, an endorphin factory, and a gift of love. No matter how you spend your Valentine’s Day this year, you will likely end up with some of it in your grasp! Be it the day of or the day after on discount, chocolate is quite nearly unavoidable in February. Why settle for bunnies and boxes when you could delight and astound with something homemade? 2020 was the year that birthed many home bakers and chefs. With most folks still trying their hand at new dishes, we’re recommending these recipes to gather the family and your loved ones to create, bake, and enjoy some chocolate goodies together.

Add the dates, almond butter, and honey and continue to pulse until well mixed. Add the coconut flakes and chocolate chips and continue processing until evenly combined. Dampen your hands and roll them into tablespoon sized balls (if crumbly, add some warm water until right). They created a strong network of local parents who faced the same challenges and were dedicated to advocating for their children. This served as the foundation for what is now URS. For more than 60 years now, URS has served thousands of local individuals with internationally and state accredited programs for infants, children, adults and seniors with developmental and acquired disabilities or other special needs, including Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy and Alzheimer’s. premise of Kindli was to create a positive alternative for social media where people can interact and walk away feeling good about the time they spent on the platform, and maybe feel a little more positive about the world and life in general, rather than what I saw was just a downward spiral of negativity and a very hostile, very unfriendly environment that was being fostered and just increasing in ‘traditional’ social media,” he explains. “It really just was trying to figure out a path to fix what I saw were the major flaws in those platforms that were allowing them to be abused and taken over by hate, and, essentially, allowing them to become a very, very toxic environment.”
REDEFINING THE INFLUENCER
Kindli also aims to change the current perception of what
it means to be an influencer on social media. Currently, influencers are generally popular and are often endorsing products. Kindli hopes to alter that definition to someone who changes others’ behavior and inspires them to do good things, and truly makes a positive impact on those around them. “On Kindli, rather than putting the focus on just likes and popularity, our emphasis is more on what have you done to make a difference, and how much of an impact are you making?” Everyone from companies to celebrities to individuals will be able to show the world how much they are an influencer by the number of Kindli cards they’ve given out, based on the number that will be linked to their profile. Martin Diamond and the Kindli bus
SPOT THE BUS
Kindli also now has a dedicated bus, which goes around with
what they call their “Street Team,” and often a celebrity, making random stops to do random acts of kindness. This was recently on display when Tebow and the Street Team took the bus around Phoenix, Arizona and stopped at a gas station, where they surprised customers by paying for their gas, and Tebow actually pumped their gas and cleaned their windshields. They also stopped by a teen football practice, where Tebow gave the team an inspiring speech, as well as a grocery store where they paid for customers’ groceries, and more. Kindli will also feature Daily Kindness content, a stream of feel-good stories, videos, and news. “I hope that this platform helps the well-being of people—their mental health—and it lifts up their spirits and inspires them to serve. I hope this is the platform they turn to, to be uplifted and inspired. After being on the site, I want people to leave it better than they started their day. This is going to change the word for better,” says Santore.

LOCAL LIMELIGHT GREG SCOTT TAKES THE MANTEL FOR SOUTH DAYTON LIFESTYLE
ARTICLE JESSICA FITCH
M E ET OU R N E W P U B LI S H E R AS WE SAY GOODBYE TO ARIELLE JORDAN, OUR PREVIOUS PUBLISHER, WE ALSO GET TO SAY HELLO TO SOUTH DAYTON LIFESTYLE’S GREG SCOTT. Though born and raised in Illinois, this South Dayton local is excited to grow with the community Arielle has created. Greg moved to the area five years ago and married lifelong-Dayton-resident Angela Scott. Since that time, he has felt right at home in the community. “My favorite thing about Dayton is how comfortable it has become so quickly. I worried that when people heard I wasn’t from here, that they would treat me differently, but that hasn’t been the case at all.” Greg has a history of leadership and community. Through high school and college he spent much of his time writing for and editing local newspapers. After graduation from Southern Illinois University, he began working for its magazine (sent to over 200,000 alumni and friends around the world), and
