OLONICS OF VININGS SPECIALIZES IN RESTORING
YOUR BODY’S NATURAL BALANCE THROUGH THE USE OF COLON HYDROTHERAPY. In a private suite, clients enjoy a 45 minute session on the Angel of Water colon hydrotherapy machine which uses a gravity fed flow to flush waste and leaves the body cleaner and healthier. Think bidet for the booty. We talked to Kate Vepraskas of Colonics of Vinings who happily provided these four benefits.

HYDRATES THE WHOLE BODY. Water is gently infused into the colon, where some of it is reabsorbed back into the body through the lining of the colon. This hydration rejuvenates the cells of the body. The extra hydration in the colon may also soften and loosen hard impacted waste that has adhered to the walls of the colon. Every system and organ of the body is connected to the colon by reflex points. Colonic irrigation stimulates these points, thereby affecting the corresponding body parts in a beneficial way. carried on as if her husband was not only still alive, but right there beside her. And what were the townspeople to do but go along with their beloved widowed Piper? After all, the people of Frick Island do not take well to change. What harm could it possibly do? Anders Caldwell had hoped he’d be a national award-winning podcaster by now, rather than writing fluff pieces for a small town newspaper. When he gets an assignment to travel to Frick Island and cover their annual cake walk fundraiser, he stumbles upon a much more fascinating tale - an entire town pretending to see and interact with a man who does not exist. As a “Come Here,” a person not from Frick Island, his curiosity and questions are not welcome. But when he receives an anonymous tip via email saying, You came all the way to Frick Island and missed the biggest story out here... he knows he’s on to something. Determined it’s the career-making story he’s been needing, Anders returns to the island to begin covert research and spend more time with the enigmatic Piper—but he has no idea out of all the lives he’s about to upend, it’s his that will change the most. With The Invisible Husband of Frick Island, Colleen Oakley delivers an incredibly satisfying one-of-a-kind story about an eccentric community, a grieving widow, and an outsider who slowly learns that sometimes faith is more important than the facts. Colleen Oakley’s books have been translated into 21 languages, optioned for film, and have received numerous accolades including multiple Indie Next Picks, LibraryReads Pick (2020), starred trade reviews, and praise from O Magazine, People, Real Simple, US Weekly, PopSugar, and more. Her go to is Adobo Confit Duck Fried Rice. And, when the Chef has steak on the menu, absolutely order it. Jackie swears he is a steak master. Another favorite is Muss & Turner’s. In the back they have a speakeasy called Eleanor’s. The only way to get there is through a commercial refrigerator door. This is a fun restaurant within the restaurant. She also enjoys their outdoor, covered patio. Her menu favorites are Day Old Soup and Lamb Sirloin. Jackie can’t go without including South City Kitchen, an Atlanta staple and co-owned by her friend Stuart Fierman. She craves their specialty Pan Fried Chicken Livers. Pimento cheese is also a must have. Shopping in Smyrna: She prefers to shop for groceries at the Kroger on S. Atlanta Road which is older but smaller and shopper friendly. Vinings Pharmacy on S. Cobb Drive is also on her list because of the stellar customer service and delivery option. And, she loves to support local and give small business, the business. She knows a thing or two about that. Because of COVID and sheltering in place, she has oriented her life toward Smyrna where she lives from Buckhead where she owns her store. This includes physical therapy at Atlanta PT on Highlands Pkwy., veterinarian Dr. Kimberly Cary at Apex Animal Hospital on S. Cobb Pkwy. where the old QT was located, and the Vinings Wellstar Urgent Care on Atlanta Road where Dr. Yoon practices and is like her primary care doctor. Jackie has lived in a charming John Wieland development called Paces Green for 21 years. She lives with two brother and sister toy poodles, who are 7 years old, named Angel and Cuddles. Her youngest son Todd Slutzky and his three children live six minutes away, also in Smyrna. His family moved nearby so that they could remain close and she could enjoy the company of her grandchildren. She thought she would migrate from Buckhead to a Virginia-Highlands or Morningside neighborhood, but fell in love with her house. She had previously lived in a condo on West Paces, from where she never traveled past the restaurant Canoe. With beautiful flowers a-bloom, she takes great pride in her backyard patio oasis, and her front yard, filled with at least 30 rose bushes and hydrangeas, a favorite southern accent. An American flag flies on her front porch in honor of her brother, Gary, who served in Vietnam more than 50 years ago. It was the only thing she knew to do to keep him safe, 24-7.

CULINARY CREATIONS (CONTINUED)
DOUBLE FRIED FRENCH FRIES INGREDIENTS + Russet potatoes (figure 1 medium per person) + Pinch of sea salt + Oil for frying + Grated parmesan (optional topping) + 1/4 cup chopped parsley
INSTRUCTIONS 01 Hand-cut or use French fry cutter to cut raw potatoes into uniform size. Put into a bowl and cover with water and place in fridge overnight to soak. Drain water and place on a baking sheet lined with paper towels. Place back in fridge to dry out until ready to cook. 02 Set up your deep fryer with preferred oil (I use peanut oil) and heat to 300 degrees. 03 Working in batches as to not overcrowd the fryer and drop the temperature by too much, fry the potatoes for 5-6 minutes. 04 Once all the fries have been initially cooked, raise temperature of oil to 375 degrees. 05 Place fries back into oil and cook for 6 minutes or until preferred doneness. 06 Drain and dump into large mixing bowl and sprinkle on sea salt. Toss to coat. 07 Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
