SPRING IS FOR RECITALS Courtnay and Rowe Music Academy hosted seven free outdoor recitals under the Pavilion of the Cochise Riverview Club. Parents and families enjoyed pop, rock, and classical hits from Academy students at the first “in-person” recitals in more than a year and a half. Courtnay and Rowe’s sister school, The Music Studio Atlanta, located on S. Atlanta Road, is also planning for in-person recitals for Studio students over two weekends later this June. 2020 was a hard year for all music schools, but things are getting back to normal at Courtnay and Rowe Music Academy and The Music Studio Atlanta. The schools have seen a huge return to in-person lessons and enrollment is at an all-time high. This has allowed the schools to do charity work with donations to local school employees and fundraisers, as well as the Samuel Vargas Music Foundation which gives used musical instruments to those in need. The staff, teachers, and students are very excited for opportunities to perform before a live audience and resume life as normal.

CAMPBELL HIGH SCHOOL OF SMYRNA’S CLASS OF 1986 REUNION Ok kids, time to dig out the letter sweater and yearbooks. Campbell High School of Smyrna’s Class of 1986 is hosting its 35th Reunion July 30-Aug 1, 2021. Classmates are encouraged to attend. All the details may be found at CHSclassof86smyrna.square.site/. G R A N D PA A N D G R A N D M A’ S FA R M F R E S H F R I T T E RS Fritters Ingredients: + 1 can creamed corn + 2 eggs + 1 1/3 cups flour + 2 teaspoons baking powder + 1 teaspoon salt + ¼ teaspoon pepper + 1 pinch nutmeg + 1 tablespoon sugar + 1 scallion, minced + 1 pinch clove + 1 pinch allspice + ¼ teaspoon cinnamon + 1 pinch nutmeg Method for Fritters + 1. Combine wet and mix well. + 2. Sift dry and combine with wet. Do not overmix. + 3. Drop small scoops into 350F oil.

Homemade Syrup Ingredients: + ¼ cup sugar + ¼ cup maple syrup + 1 cup apple juice + 1 ½ tablespoons lemon juice + ¼ teaspoon salt + 2 tablespoons soft butter + 1 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolve Method for Syrup: + 1. Combine juice, sugar, syrup, and spices. Bring to a boil. + 2. Dissolve cornstarch with water and slowly add to thicken. Cook out for 3 minutes. + 3. Whip in the butter. + 4. Drizzle over fritters and serve.

3 WARM WEATHER STRETCHES FOR SUMMERTIME

HI EVERYONE! I’m Natasha, a certified yoga instructor in the SmyrnaVinings area. I love practicing and teaching all types of yoga throughout the year, but one of my favorite seasons is summer. This is an excellent time to get outdoors, enjoy fresh air, and add more movement to your routine. Practice these 3 stretches to stay cool, relaxed, and rejuvenated this summer: WIDE-LEGGED FORWARD FOLD Start by standing tall and place your feet about 3-4 feet apart with your toes facing forward. Place your hands on your hips and fold your torso down towards the floor. As you approach the floor, place your hands down in front of you or reach out and grab your big toes. Pro tip: Interlace your fingers behind your back and reach your arms away from your body for an added upper body stretch. Hold for at least 3-5 breaths. Exit the pose by bringing your hands back to your hips and slowly lifting your torso upright. Walk your feet back together to return to standing tall.

1. ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK Rocky Mountain National Park includes majestic mountains, abundant wildlife, incredible hiking trails and so much more. 3. YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK Yellowstone’s 2.2 million acres include colorful hot springs, awe-inspiring waterfalls, fascinating mudpots, explosive geysers, diverse wildlife and more. It is home to more hot springs and geysers than anywhere else on Earth. The oldest and largest herd of bison in the country lives at Yellowstone, as well as elk, wolves and grizzly bears.

BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK Bryce Canyon National Park, located in southwestern Utah, is home to the world’s largest concentration of hoodoos on Earth. With its fascinating landscape composed of hoodoos, horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters and whimsical limestone rock formations, a visit to Bryce Canyon is often likened to a visit to another planet. This stunning landscape, formed by wind, water and snow, draws hikers, rock climbers, photographers, stargazers and cross-country skiers.

GLACIER NATIONAL PARK Glacier National Park is located on the border of Canada and the United States and is often referred to as the “Crown of the Continent.” Visitors will find more than 700 glacial lakes and many hiking trails, ranging in difficulty from easy to strenuous. Going-to-the-Sun Road, known as one of the most spectacular scenic drives in the country, is a paved, two-lane highway that divides the park into east and west regions.

ZION NATIONAL PARK Zion National Park’s colorful sandstone cliffs, lush plateaus covered in pine and junipers, narrow canyons, the Virgin River, plus seeps, springs and waterfalls are just some of the scenic wonders here. One of Zion’s most popular hikes is known as the Narrows, the slimmest section of Zion Canyon. Other popular attractions include the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, Angels Landing, Observation Point and Canyon Overlook Trail.

7. GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park spans 310,000 acres and towers above the Jackson Hole Valley. The Teton Mountains, the youngest in the Rockies, are reflected majestically on the surfaces of six pristine lakes and the Snake River. Experienced climbers can summit the 13,770foot Grand Teton, and long-distance hikers can take the Paintbrush Canyon-Cascade Canyon Loop for impressive views of the mountain.

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK This UNESCO World Heritage Site is 277 river miles long, up to 18 miles wide and 1 mile deep. The South Rim is home to Grand Canyon Village and Bright Angel Trail. The West Rim is home to the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a glass bridge that extends 70 feet over the edge of a cliff. The North Rim is the most remote access point, allowing visitors to experience the park firsthand through intense hiking and backpacking and thrilling river rafting.
