Love actually blinds differences, and that is what we need. The other day I was driving on South Atlanta Road and was abruptly cut off by a driver and it made me really upset but I decided to relax. As I pulled up to the light, the lady looked at me and rolled down the window and apologized. She forgot her infant's bottle and was rushing back home. We talked for a brief second and I found out that she is one of our monthly readers and was extremely nice. What if I had acted on what I felt versus showing control? I showed kindness and the situation turned out well. You must love life enough to love others. Love is health and health is love. Take care of your health. Have regular medical checkups, take vitamin supplements, take time every day to relax or do something that you enjoy.

As with everyone, the COVID pandemic has caused us to take different routes, thus, volunteer Board Member Leah Barnes makes it possible for you to view a spring 2021 installation at Smyrna City Hall featuring eight local and regional artists. According to Barnes, she coordinates about three different city hall art installations a year. Also, from March 20-April 19, Board member Vanya Foote coordinates the M2R Fence Gallery of more than 50 student-to-working artists’ works of art and photography, which are printed on 30” X 40” weather-safe panels. As a part of the M2R Trailfest, last May, before traveling throughout Cobb County, the M2R Fence Gallery debuted trackside downtown, Marietta. “We are thrilled to join other Cobb County cities that host the traveling Fence Gallery,” says Foote. Overseer SAC Board member Lisa Hawk informs that the original street-theatre production Secrets of Smyrna, scheduled in October 2020, will be staged when it is safe, hopefully later this year. For example, as parents, it is a work in progress to get our 8-year-old son Logan set up for school virtually and dropping off our 14-year-old daughter Laila to high school on time. There are so many variables that can throw off our schedules but we stay in communication on how we can improve. HOW WILL YOU BE SPENDING VALENTINE’S DAY IN 2021? As Black, African Americans, we also acknowledge that February is Black History month and the principle of love to be shown to our people in this country is vital for justice and equality in all areas of life as human beings. Valentine’s Day is on a Sunday this year, the one day of the week that we are closed at Code Ninjas. A mini overnight vacation to our favorite spa at Iwi Fresh Farm Oasis would be a treat. We usually do not plan much for Valentine’s Day, but this past year has taught us to appreciate every opportunity to show love, gratitude, and acknowledge each person you love.
