INVESTMENT-WORTHY WINES

A COASTAL ESCAPE

Investing in What Matters

April always carries a certain energy—a sense of renewal, of possibility, of thoughtful forward motion. That spirit inspired this month’s theme: the Investment Issue.

We’re not talking about investment in the financial sense—although that’s important, too, of course!—but investment in the people, passions, and experiences that shape a meaningful life.

We begin close to home with Tom Kaufman of Kaufman Hospitality, a DC Ranch resident whose belief in community has translated into action. With four restaurants opened in DC Ranch so far, Kaufman isn’t simply building concepts—he’s cultivating gathering places, investing in connection, and reinforcing the vibrancy of the neighborhood he calls home.

We also turn our focus to investments that mature beautifully over time, including a look at wines worth cellaring now and savoring later. Like any wise investment, patience pays dividends.

Wellness, too, is a lifelong portfolio. CarolAnn Tutera, president and CEO of SottoPelle®/Tutera Medical®, has spent more than three decades helping men and women pursue optimal well-being naturally, from the inside out. Her work is a powerful reminder that the most important investment we make is in ourselves.

And because restoration is essential to health, we invite you to escape with us to the coastal charm of Carlsbad, where ocean air, laid-back luxury, and a slower rhythm offer their own kind of return.

This month’s features share a common thread: intention. The decision to pour energy into a business that strengthens our community. The patience to cellar a remarkable vintage. The discipline to prioritize wellness. The choice to step away and recharge by the sea.

True luxury, after all, is not simply what we acquire—it’s what we nurture.

Here’s to investing wisely in what matters most.

Yours,

April 2026

letter from the PUBLISHER

There’s something magnetic about what’s new. A new reservation at a restaurant everyone’s talking about. A new connection that shifts your perspective. Even a quick getaway to a beautiful resort can refresh your mindset. Newness energizes us. But what truly gives it meaning is the intention behind it.

This month, we’re exploring the concept of investment, not simply as a financial strategy but also as a lifestyle choice.

In a city like Scottsdale, investment shows up in countless ways. It’s prioritizing your health and well-being so you have the vitality to enjoy the life you’re building. It’s being thoughtful about your financial future and understanding how to grow and protect your assets. It’s choosing experiences that enrich your life and create lasting memories. It’s recognizing that some of the strongest returns come from strengthening the community around you.

Luxury, at its core, is about intention. It’s about aligning your resources with what matters most. Whether that means building liquid assets, curating meaningful experiences, or supporting philanthropic initiatives that uplift our neighbors, investment is deeply personal. It reflects your values.

What makes our city exceptional is the spirit of entrepreneurship that runs through it. Our small businesses are more than storefronts, they are dreamers, risk-takers and visionaries who continually reinvest back into this community. When we support them, we create a cycle of prosperity that benefits us all.

As you turn through this issue, I invite you to consider where you are placing your greatest investments. The most rewarding returns aren’t always measured in numbers. Sometimes they’re measured in connection, confidence, and community.

HOME SWEET HOSPITALITY

With Restaurants Just a Quick Vespa Ride Away, DC Ranch Restaurateur Tom Kaufman Invests in His Community

Tom Kaufman was in his mid-20s when he was visiting his parents in his home state of Michigan. At the time, he had accumulated about two years’ worth of college credits and was working as a server in a nice restaurant.

Tom Kaufman
“You never know when a phrase will change your life,” Tom Kaufman says.

His best friend was in law school. Another good friend had a prestigious job with IBM. So, when his best friend’s mom—who was like a second mother to him—asked what he was up to, Kaufman felt his job paled in comparison.

“I’m just a waiter,” Kaufman recalls of his response. “She stopped me, did the time-out sign, pointed at me, and said, ‘You are not just a waiter. I’ve seen you in action. Don’t you ever say that again.’”

This revealed to Kaufman a calling that he hadn’t considered until those words.

“From that moment on, it was like, wow, this is what I’m going to do. I’m not going to be embarrassed by it. I try to do that when mentoring my staff … be proud of being in hospitality. You can make someone’s day or evening,” Kaufman says. “You never know when a phrase will change your life.”

But not only did it do just that for the founder of Kaufman Hospitality—with the more than 20 successful restaurants Kaufman has opened over the last three decades, the hospitality veteran has changed the lives of countless Valley diners who have come to love his establishments and choose them as spots to celebrate, relax over a glass of wine, and hang out with friends or even make new ones.

Kaufman’s restaurants serve as more than places to eat good food. His passion and gift for creating welcoming spaces with impeccable service create communities in ways that are not common in the industry.

For example, Kaufman talks about the day of The Big Game in football as usually being an early closure day at The Living Room, because it’s typically a slow day. But this year, he decided to put the game on at his wine bar and a steady crowd kept them busy and open.

“I was surprised. People just wanted a gathering place,” Kaufman says. “We throw a party every day, and people come to relax and have a good time.”

Kaufman calls DC Ranch home personally, as well as professionally, with his restaurants Elvira’s DC Ranch, Tomu-San Sushi, The Peacock, and The Living Room setting up shop there. He rides his Vespa to work and is able to be hands-on with his establishments.

“It makes sense to have your finger on the pulse of a place, the energy in the kitchen, the quality of the food coming out …,” Kaufman says. “And absolutely, there is a synergy among the restaurants and the community.”

The list of restaurants Kaufman has launched reads like a who’s who of dining, starting with his first, Rancho Pinot, which he opened in 1993, and gems like Restaurant Hapa, Humble Pie, Rock Lobster, and Sea & Smoke. The same A-list status can be applied to former employees-turned-restaurateurs, including Pavle Milic and James Beard Award-winning chef Charleen Badman, owners of the much-lauded FnB.

The catalyst for forming his own hospitality group was rooted not only in achieving success for himself, but also for everyone who ever joined his team. Making this kind of investment has paid off for the Valley dining scene overall.

“There are a lot of good people who work for me, and they don’t want a glass ceiling. Mentoring is part of it for sure,” says Kaufman, who talks about a current employee who shows this kind of promise. “I hope one day he’ll open his own restaurant or take over mine.”

Originally from Grand Blanc, a suburb of Flint, Michigan, Kaufman first arrived in Arizona in 1973 to attend Arizona State University, where he would eventually earn a degree in marketing.

He moved around over the next several years, but hospitality was always the constant. He shored up his professional industry experience with an advanced sommelier degree from the Court of Master Sommeliers and used that in prestigious positions that included work as a sommelier at Hotel Bel-Air.

“There are a lot of good people who work for me, and they don’t want a glass ceiling. Mentoring is part of it for sure,” Tom Kaufman says.

He also learned from professionals along the way, incorporating their skills and approach to customer service into his special and unique style. He recalls his favorite server from back home, named Hazel, who “knew my birthday and favorite dessert.” And while working at a fancy restaurant during his time at Michigan State University, there was a fellow waiter named Richard who had a way of connecting with guests and providing rare, elevated service.

“This guy was good. He moved with such grace,” Kaufman says. “I watched him. I learned a lot from him.”

At 71, and with more than 45 years of industry experience, Kaufman embraces the value and responsibility of guiding and nurturing every team member who walks through his doors. The way he sees it, investing in his people, restaurants, and community results in growth that benefits everyone.

“I love it. Hospitality fills me up,” Kaufman says. “When the restaurant is full and people are having a good time, it’s gratifying. This is the motivation.”

Building a Cellar That Pays Dividends on the Palate and in the Wallet

Some investments hang on walls. Others sit in portfolios.

The most delicious of investments, however, are right under one’s nose, quite literally.

Fine wine has long been one of the world’s most intoxicating assets, prized not only for its complexity in the glass but also for its ability to appreciate over time. For some, it holds impressive resale and auction value. For others, it delivers immediate returns in celebration, connection, and experience.

For those ready to begin, Ram’s Gate Estate Pinot Noir ($85; RamsGateWinery.com) offers an elegant entry into collecting. Rooted in regenerative farming, it captures

place with poise and promises graceful evolution in the cellar. From there, Gary Farrell Winery 2022 Rochioli Vineyard Pinot Noir Honoring a Legend ($105; GaryFarrellWinery.com) deepens the journey with rose petal, lavender, and red fruit—a tribute bottling destined to blossom beautifully over time.

Building in structure, Kendall-Jackson Stature Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 ($100; KJ.com) layers plum, violet, and tobacco over velvety tannins, balancing power and ageability. That richness finds a nuanced counterpoint in Three Sticks 2023 Cuvée Eva Marie Pinot Noir ($125; ThreeSticksWines.com), where meticulous barrel selection reveals dark cherry depth and cellar-worthy precision.

Momentum continues with ONEHOPE Winery’s 2020 Iconic Red Blend ($125; OneHopeWinery.com), co-founded by a Scottsdale native and channeling Rutherford structure through Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel aged in French oak. In the same price tier yet distinct in personality, Clif Family Winery 2021 Valle di Sotto Proprietary Red Wine ($125; ClifFamily.com) brings an organic Oak Knoll pedigree and a savory complexity built for the long haul.

As collections mature, Sterling Vineyards 2018 Sleeping Lady Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon ($165; SterlingVineyards.com) delivers Napa intensity layered with violet, blackberry, and espresso notes designed for decades of cellaring. Rising to the occasion, the 2021 Palmaz Cabernet Sauvignon ($185; PalmazVineyards.com), born inside Mount George, pairs innovation and terroir in a bottle worthy of milestone moments. Collectors also look to limited releases such as The Prisoner Winemaker Series Trio Volume II ($270; ThePrisonerWineCompany.com), whose three small-batch wines reward those who secure the complete set.

And sometimes, investing means going big, as with Jordan Vineyard and Winery 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon 3L ($850; JordanWinery.com), a large-format statement that elevates cellar and celebration alike.

The Health Innovator Shares Tips for Greater Vitality

CarolAnn Tutera: Invest in Your Health

ARTICLE BY CATHERINE J. ROURKE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY DANIELLE MUCCILLO

Wellness isn’t just about fit bands, food fads, or fitness trackers. Good health is “an inside job” that begins with the mind, body, and soul in proper balance. People spend years building a life … investing in their education, career, home, and family. But they often neglect their own self-care, overlooking a “return” on their lifelong investment.

CarolAnn Tutera, the president and CEO of SottoPelle®/Tutera Medical®, has dedicated over three decades to helping men and women achieve optimal well-being, naturally, from the inside out. Long before the “menopause movement” and “andropause awareness” became health industry buzzwords and social media trends, she was blazing innovative trails in these areas to promote healthy living.

Tutera is the first woman entrepreneur and original industry leader in the field of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) using natural bioidentical hormone pellets. Known as an innovator, she co-founded the company over 30 years ago with her late husband, Dr. Gino Tutera, a pioneering ob-gyn who developed a multi-patented individualized dosing site for hormone optimization. Together, they set the industry gold standard for pellet therapy across America and internationally.

Dr. Tutera’s groundbreaking research showed that sex hormones aren’t just for reproduction but serve as the control panel regulating every function of the body and brain. He also discovered that, by their 40s, both sexes have lost over half of their normal hormone levels.

Maintaining the intricate hormonal balance required for optimal well-being and disease prevention formed the heart of their practice, to restore the physical, mental, and emotional vitality of their patients.

LIVING VIBRANTLY

“The company focuses on hormone balance so people can feel their best,” says Tutera. “Our goal has always been to help people age gracefully—not just grow older, but live vibrantly.”

Hormones act like a head-to-toe tune-up that can help prevent many diseases, improve cognitive function, and reduce the need for medications. That’s why investing in hormonal balance before levels drop too low offers a smart safeguard for a healthier life.

“Over 87 years of studies show that bioidentical pellet therapy is the only safe, effective approach for restoring hormonal balance and the body’s normal physiology,” she says. “It’s the best preventative approach in modern medicine to alleviate the devastating illnesses and diseases caused by stress.”

Hormones influence every thought, movement, behavior, action, and emotion. If the buttons don’t operate, neither will the main screen, and the neurotransmitters often go haywire. This, in turn, can

“Some days, work takes over; other days, I focus on self-care and unplug.
I listen to my body. If I need rest, I take it.”

deteriorate brain health and lead to Alzheimer’s, especially in menopausal women as their hormone levels plummet.

As people age, hormonal imbalances can result in cognitive disorders, memory loss, mental health conditions, sleep disruption, and neurotransmitter imbalances that often lead to dementia and depression. The key is to correct the deficit before it leads to health problems. Way ahead of their time, the Tuteras began using pellet therapy over a decade ago to treat patients with Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative conditions, including former NFL players who had concussions.

Tutera advocated for greater awareness of these brain health issues long before the current trends. Her ongoing passion for the health benefits of BHRT pellet therapy has earned her numerous awards, including Innovator of the Year, Who’s Who in Arizona Healthcare, a Most Influential Women distinction, Entrepreneur of the Year, and Top 5 Most Trailblazing Magnates to Follow.

Understanding how hormones support better health can help people make educated decisions earlier in life to enhance their vitality and longevity. By seeking treatment early, they have a better chance of preventing cognitive dysfunction, autoimmune disorders, osteoporosis, metabolic syndrome, high cholesterol, inflammation, chronic fatigue, heart disease, prostate issues, diabetes, and other conditions.

Tutera explains that good health is no longer a given—it’s the engine that determines whether your golden years will be defined by newfound freedom or physical limitation. In the economy of aging, an investment in your well-being is the difference between enjoying a full, active life or navigating a complex healthcare system.

OTHER WAYS TO INVEST IN YOUR HEALTH

With a mission to eradicate all the mythology around aging, Tutera shares how she invests in her own well-being as a busy executive operating an international company.

“It’s about prioritizing,” she says. “Some days, work takes over; other days, I focus on self-care and unplug. I listen to my body. If I need rest, I take it. I’ve learned to make small shifts, allowing myself to end the day with a book or simply unwind in a quiet place, focusing on what truly matters, whether my health, my business, or my personal growth.”

Tutera recommends daily journaling to release internal stress and practice gratitude to foster a joyful mindset. For busy professionals, she suggests intentional downtime, such as unplugging from phones and taking a few deep breaths or using meditation to calm the mind.

“We live in a technology-driven world requiring people to remain constantly connected, scrolling and messaging,” she says. “Digital detox is a big trend … we need to reduce our screen time, go offline, and simply relax.”

Preventative care is vital, especially for those over 50. Tutera advocates for regular wellness exams to monitor hormone levels for conditions like osteoporosis. Her philosophy of “authentic aging” suggests that health and aging are not mutually exclusive; rather, it is about redirecting your energy to live vibrantly at any age.

Investing in health transcends the absence of illness and encompasses a holistic view of body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Longevity isn’t about living longer but about feeling good, with quality sleep, wholesome foods, microbiome diversity, mental wellness, lively movement, and stress management. It’s about connecting with good friends and maintaining an attitude of gratitude.

“Good health is about becoming intentional with your time, energy and focus … taking time out for reflection and finding your bliss,” Tutera concludes. “True happiness comes from within.”

Western Spirit Unveils its $12M Expansion; New Galleries Deepen the Story of the American West

Nestled in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale, Western Spirit Museum has long stood as a defining tribute to the region’s history. Since its 2015 debut, the Smithsonian Affiliate has become both a staple for museumgoers and an award-winning destination. Now, with the unveiling of its much-anticipated $12 million expansion, the museum enters a bold new chapter.

At the center of this evolution is the Louis Sands IV Center, a striking two-story, 12,000-square-foot addition that brings the museum’s total footprint to 55,000 square feet. The expansion not only transforms the physical space, it reinforces Scottsdale’s stature as a premier arts destination in the American Southwest.

Designed to elevate both scale and storytelling, the newly expanded museum opens with four major exhibitions spanning two floors. Together, they weave Western American and American Indian art—paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and ceramics—into a dynamic setting that reflects both the breadth of the region’s creative traditions and the depth of the museum’s collections. The expansion is not simply an increase in square footage; it is a reimagining of how the art of the North American West is encountered, understood, and celebrated.

“This new addition to Western Spirit marks a transformative chapter in how we tell the story of the North American West,” says Western Spirit Museum CEO Todd Bankofier. “It elevates our role as a Smithsonian Affiliate and firmly establishes the museum as a must-see cultural destination for both local residents and travelers from around the world. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning throughout the year, there is always something new to discover—and a new reason to fall in love with the spirit of the West all over again.”

On the main gallery level, three interconnected exhibitions explore the West through three forms: bronze, jewelry, and ceramics.

Visions in Bronze traces more than a century of sculptural mastery, from the myth-making frontier figures of Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell to a midcentury revival led by Arizona artists to contemporary voices reshaping the narrative. Cowboys, mountain men, and American Indian leaders emerge not as relics, but as evolving cultural icons rendered in luminous metal.

Louis Sands IV Center

From Earth to the Stars offers a look at American Indian jewelry, spotlighting masterworks from artists such as Charles Loloma and Preston Monongye. Silver, turquoise, and stone are transformed into statements of identity and innovation, revealing lineages of artistry that stretch from ancestral techniques to bold contemporary designs. The exhibit highlights the deep relationships between land, materials, and artistry.

In  Fire of Ages , more than six centuries of ceramic tradition are showcased, from the bold innovations of the Nampeyo family to refined designs of modern potters. Clay and fire become vessels of continuity and reinvention, illuminating how Hopi and Southwestern potters have sustained and redefined their art across generations.

Upstairs,  Working Pardners: Masterworks from the Eddie Basha Collection makes its public debut. Drawn entirely from local icon Eddie Basha’s collection—one of the most significant private collections of Western American and American Indian art—the exhibition reflects a legacy of patronage and partnership. Bonzes, paintings, prints, and carvings by artists including Howard Terpning, Larry Yazzie, Roy Anderson, and Martin Grelle offer perspectives on how creative expression emerges from connection and cooperation, and a look at the West not as a solitary frontier but as a shared landscape of labor, kinship, ceremony, and collaboration.

The architectural flow between floors encourages movement and discovery. Light-filled galleries, expanded exhibition space, and thoughtful curation create a museum experience that feels immersive yet intimate.

With this expansion, Western Spirit advances into its next chapter—larger in scale, broader in vision, and more compelling than ever. It’s where the story of the West continues to unfold in bold and unforgettable ways.

CARLSBAD MAGICAL

There’s something magical about Carlsbad. Located along a pristine stretch of Southern California coastline, about 35 miles north of San Diego, this seaside locale beckons with its small-town charm and world-class attractions. Getting here is easy. American Airlines offers nonstop flights from Phoenix directly into Carlsbad, so in less than an hour and a half, you can be touching down and ready to head to the beach, town, spa, or start your adventure. There’s so much to see and do.

The Flower Fields of Carlsbad Ranch

STAY

Start by checking in to the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, a lush, Spanish-inspired retreat that feels worlds away from everyday life. The 400-acre property completed a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2024 and features eight pools, a spa, multiple dining venues, and a championship golf course. Spend time poolside beneath swaying palms or wander the manicured grounds before indulging in the property’s crown jewel: The Spa at Omni La Costa. The spa has been a destination in its own right since 1965, when the resort was known as the “original destination for mind, body, and sport.”

When hunger calls, head to VUE, one of the resort’s main restaurants, where locally sourced ingredients meet coastal creativity under the direction of Executive Chef Emily Brubaker. The menu showcases fresh seafood, hearty proteins, house-made sauces, and locally sourced fruits and vegetables, offering a modern, creative approach to Baja cuisine.

DO

If you’re visiting in spring, a trip to The Flower Fields of Carlsbad Ranch is a must. Open from March 1 through Mother’s Day each year, the rolling hills burst into a kaleidoscope of color as rows of flowers blanket the landscape. It’s one of those rare experiences that feels almost surreal, a living rainbow that is joyful, breathtaking, and definitely Instagram-worthy.

Carlsbad’s dining scene extends well beyond the resort. In nearby Carlsbad Village, you’ll find an eclectic mix of restaurants that reflect the city’s laid-back yet sophisticated vibe. Wildland delivers seasonal, produce-forward fare in a bright, airy setting that invites you to settle in and savor. At Campfire, wood-fired dishes and craft cocktails evoke a modern coastal camp experience. For a cozy nightcap, head to Little Victory Wine Bar, where thoughtfully curated pours of natural wines pair with small bites in a space that offers an intimate neighborhood feel.

To truly taste the town, book an afternoon with Carlsbad Food Tours. Beyond sampling standout bites from local eateries, the guided experience weaves through the colorful streets of Carlsbad Village, showcasing vibrant murals and public art along the way. It’s a delicious introduction to the city’s creative spirit and close-knit community.

Of course, no visit to Carlsbad is complete without embracing the outdoors. Begin your morning with beach yoga or Pilates with Yoga Your Way, where the rhythmic sound of waves replaces a studio playlist and the salty air sharpens your focus. Later, trade your mat for a paddle and explore Agua Hedionda Lagoon by kayak with California Watersports. The company offers a variety of rental options, including  paddleboards, swan pedal boats, and  pontoons, if those are more your speed.

And then there are the beaches of Carlsbad themselves—wide, sandy stretches perfect for sunbathing, surfing, or simply strolling hand in hand as the tide rolls in. The coastal city meets the Pacific Ocean with 7 miles of stunning coastline. As day turns to dusk, make your way back to the sand for sunset. Carlsbad sunsets have a way of slowing time, painting the sky in soft pastels and fiery oranges.

Evenings in Carlsbad Village hum with an easy energy. Wander the boutique shops or settle into a patio for a bite to eat, a drink, or to listen to live music. It’s relaxed but lively, polished yet unpretentious.

That’s the magic of Carlsbad. It’s a destination where luxury and leisure intertwine, where mornings begin with ocean breezes and evenings end beneath technicolor skies. Whether you’re seeking spa serenity, culinary exploration, outdoor adventure, or simply a beautiful place to unwind, this coastal gem delivers, just a short flight away.

Redefining MVP: TIM TEBOW’S LIFE BEYOND FOOTBALL

An exclusive Q&A with City Lifestyle

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

From championship trophies to global humanitarian impact, Tim Tebow’s journey has defied every standard playbook. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Tebow pulls back the curtain on the moments that truly defined him, from a humbling middle school church retreat to the life-altering shift of fatherhood. This isn’t just a look back at a career; it’s an invitation into the heart of a man driven by purpose. Read the highlights below, then join us for the full, unfiltered experience by scanning the QR code at the end.

Q: WE ALL KNOW YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, BUT TELL US ABOUT THE CURL CONTEST.

A: I was competing for my future high school team (my brother’s team), and I pushed myself way past what was smart. I ended up collapsing and needing medical attention. But what stayed with me wasn’t the pain, it was the lesson. Would I be willing to do something that others aren’t? For much of my life, I strived to bring my best for a game, but I hope that I can say at the end of my life I was willing to do that for things that actually matter.

Q: YOU’VE ACHIEVED SO MUCH IN SPORTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT NOW?

A: Becoming a dad. Nothing compares. From the moment I knew my wife was pregnant, I felt a new depth of love for our child, but when you bring your baby home, the responsibility hits you like nothing else. Suddenly, everything you see, every decision you make, you’re asking, “Is this corner too sharp? What happens if she reaches that drawer?” It changes how you see the world and how you see other people.

Q: YOU’VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOTBALL. HOW DID THAT SEASON OF LIFE SHAPE YOU?

A: I talked a lot about that very thing in my book Shaken . We all go through moments where our faith in our abilities and purpose feels rattled, but I believe it’s often in those storms when God can show us who we could become.

Q: YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT COMPARISON CULTURE. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE COMPARISON HAS BECOME SUCH A TRAP TODAY?

A: Because we’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. Social media shows people’s “best day,” often filtered and staged, and then we measure our reality against that. There’s a reason filters are so popular—it’s not real. We end up scrolling through images that don’t tell the full story, and without realizing it, comparison starts to steal our joy and our gratitude.

“We’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel... comparison starts to steal our joy.”

Q: YOUR FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON THE “MOST VULNERABLE.” WHERE DID THAT CALLING BEGIN?

A: When I was 15, I met a boy in the Philippines who was treated as a throwaway because he was born with physical differences. That moment changed me. I realized God was calling me to pursue a different kind of MVP, not “Most Valuable Player,” but “Most Vulnerable People.”

Q: FINALLY, WHAT’S ONE THING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

A: I have some weird coffee habits, which include protein powder, collagen, and cream all mixed together. I love golf dates with my wife. And every night, I bring snacks to bed to share with our dogs. It brings me more joy than it probably should.

This conversation barely scratches the surface. Tim goes deeper into the moments that rattled him, the joys of fatherhood, and one story he has never shared publicly until now. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

• 2 Dashes Angastura Bitters

• Orange Twist

• Glass Type: Coupe

5. Twist your orange peel again, like you did last summer.

8. And a good cocktail.

The Income Tax Cocktail likely popped up during the Prohibition party scene of the 1920s. Its exact origin story remains a bit blurry, but it was definitely a hit in speakeasies.

The name? Well, it's like a cheeky nod to the idea that sipping on this cocktail might be more fun than paying actual taxes! Made with gin, sweet vermouth, orange juice, and a dash of bitters, it's like a boozy adventure for your taste buds, with hints of citrus and herbs. Despite its vintage roots, the Income Tax Cocktail still brings the party vibes, transporting you back to the roaring '20s.
