LIFESTYLE LETTER
Happy New Year!
January 2022 PUBLISHER
Tammy Fellows | tammy.fellows@citylifestyle.com EDITOR
Welcome to 2022! It’s been quite a couple of years, but as always, I feel refreshed and eager for the clean slate of a new year each January. Yes, I also feel that pull to make resolutions (that I will, to be honest, probably break, like giving up chocolate!), but truly it’s the promise of things to come that motivates me for the year ahead—all the opportunities yet to be discovered, friends yet to be made, and achievements looming on the horizon. With how busy life becomes, taking time to welcome in the new year is a nice reminder to be still for a moment and reflect on where we have been, what the past year has taught us, what we want to grow and learn from, and where we want to go from there. The practice of establishing new goals or a resolution for the coming year is something that can help us focus on what is truly a priority, or at least what should be. To help you on your way, we packed this issue full of information. If you’ve been sitting too often (hello, Zoom!), check out our lower body workout. Ready for a spot of tea? From high tea to tipsy tea, we share some of our favorite spots around the Valley. We also share fun fashions, an amazing car, and books from local authors. If you’re ready for a getaway, check out our feature on The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta. And of course, there's our cover story on Kate Walsh. I had the opportunity to speak with her about her acting roles; her company, Boyfriend; and growing up in Arizona. (Sneak tidbit—she loves Arizona so much that she created a cactus garden at her current location in Australia!) I hope you enjoy the issue, and as we enter 2022, I wish you a year of health, happiness, and love! May all your hopes and dreams come true. Yours,

A Letter From OUR PUBLISHER
Happy New Year! We hope you all had a joyous holiday season filled to the brim with precious time and heartfelt love and laughter with friends and family! Now, it’s officially 2022 … WOW! How did that happen?? Honestly, I really love this time of year, it’s when things feel fresh, new, and exciting. I see the beginning of a new year as a reminder to stay focused on my goals and the life I want to live. It is so easy for us all to get right back into the grind and lose sight of that. I encourage you to look at it differently this time. Maybe implement some new little habits and rituals to stay on track with those goals … you can start small and grow from there. I find that when I set my goals too high, it becomes daunting and oftentimes too difficult to attain. It takes baby steps... one step at a time to move the needle forward. This is my strategy in the new year—to stay engaged and take things slow and steady. That is a challenge in and of itself for me as I always tend to rush into things and go hard and fast, which typically stifles me and leads to eventual burnout. I encourage you to take the necessary steps each day to achieve your goals. This will lead you to success and contentment through living the life you want to live, and knowing it’s possible! Just that thought is a relief! With all of that in mind, we can’t begin to explain how excited we are to share the new look with our official rebrand for 2022: Scottsdale City Lifestyle! This rebrand was undertaken with great purpose in order to tie in our robust digital platform CityLifestyle.com, which brings you even more amazing lifestyle content each month! You may also notice a few new segments, as well. This letter, for one! You will be hearing from both myself, as well as Michelle Glicksman, our Editor-in-Chief, each month! Our “City Scene” changed in look, but will still continue to bring you photos displaying all of the amazing events and things going on in the community. Another is the “Business Monthly” section, which incorporates news from numerous local businesses and nonprofits in the community. We hope you enjoy some of the new elements, as we always strive to improve and bring you monthly content that speaks to our community in a way that is enjoyable and uplifting!

skin deep Gerrish MedEsthetics Founder Dr. Scott Gerrish Puts His Talents to Work and Gives Patients a Fresh Look and Boost That Have a Reach Far Beneath the Surface
For Dr. Scott Gerrish, it was a way to merge his academic pursuit with a personal passion. The union between two seemingly opposite fields was the spark that led to the founder of Gerrish MedEsthetics’ thriving 25-year cosmetic medicine career. “I always loved medicine, but went through mechanical engineering,” says Gerrish, who holds a mechanical engineering degree from Lehigh University in addition to his D.O. from Midwestern University in Illinois. “But once I got into medicine and was working with plastic surgeons and lasers, I thought, what a great integration of my degrees.” That combination proved to be a winning one, where Gerrish’s skill and talent for giving patients the gift of a new and fresh look with minimally invasive procedures and decreased downtime was honed in private practice. His Scottsdale practice is the west division of his long-standing Virginia practice. In 2019, Gerrish and his family moved to Scottsdale to soak up some west coast living in a warm and sunny space that was conducive to the outdoor lifestyle he, his wife, and his teenage children craved. Since then, the Boston native has been living a cross-country professional life on both coasts. Although located on opposite sides of the nation, they share a common reason of what brings the majority of patients in—a desire to offset the natural aging process with the most natural-looking results and the best way to maximize those. And, they prefer to get these results without surgery, scars, or lengthy downtime. “One day, they look in the mirror and start to see their parents. They say, ‘Oh no, I’ve got to slow this down,’” Gerrish says of his classic patient, who ranges in age from 30s on up. “They say, ‘I want to look better but still want to look like me.’” In addition to naturally enhancing the skin and maximizing its potential, much of Gerrish’s time is spent on ways to minimize recovery while giving patients the best possible outcome. For example, Gerrish is working with a company to create an herbal-based product that reduces recovery time by 50%. This allows patients to get back into their usual grooves a lot faster. Gerrish has countless success stories about patients for whom his work has been life-changing. For example, the woman who saw her industry colleagues slowly get younger while those in her age group seemed to be more rare. When she lost her job, she felt like the oldest person in her office and found herself back out in a competitive and younger job market. Her confidence took a hit. But after Gerrish’s care, that changed. “We made her look like a better version of herself at her age. It gave her the confidence to go out and get a new job, and she was really excellent at it,” he says. And for many, what Gerrish does for them is far from merely skin deep. “We all spend time buying nice shoes and clothes and when we look good, we feel good. When you dress up for an event, you have a feeling that’s associated with that,” Gerrish says. “If you go even deeper as to how your face looks or your body looks, it makes you feel better about yourself… and that goes a long way.” GerrishMedEsthetics.com

Did you find that your workouts were lacking over this last year or that you were not quite as motivated as you were hoping to be? Did your body lose a little definition due to putting on some unwanted pounds or are you finding that your clothes fit a little more snugly than you would like? If so, then you are not alone. I have spoken to many people who lost the motivation to work out once gyms closed in 2020—and unfortunately have found themselves in a workout rut since. I’m truly hoping that these four lower body exercises, which can be done in a gym, in the comfort of your home, or your favorite outdoor location, can motivate you! I hope they help you to get on your feet—and to use your glutes for more than just sitting upon! Moving our bodies every day is so important for our well-being. In fact, exercise is so much more than just a physical act. It helps
us to look better, yes, but most importantly feel better and happier. A little movement each day can really add up to noticeable results and have you feeling more energized. For the following exercises, you’ll need a stability ball, a resistance band, a pair of dumbbells, and a kettlebell. The first exercise activates muscle groups throughout your lower body, including your quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings, and calves. The second exercise helps to sculpt the hard-to-target inner thighs and glutes. The third exercise works your glutes, as well as your hamstrings. Lastly, the fourth exercise works your glutes, quads, hamstrings, and hips. Your core should also be engaged during all exercises so that you protect your lower back and reduce the risk of injury. SENSATIONAL SPOTS FOR A SPOT OF TEA IN THE VALLEY
CUP?
Drink Me! Tea Room
ARTICLE BY ALISON BAILIN BATZ

O UR TOWN | FOOD + BEVE RAGE
Though the concept of tea itself dates back to ancient China, and tea service was enjoyed by King Charles II in the 1600s, it wasn’t until 1840 when England’s Duchess Anna of Bedford got a hankering for a late-day sip and snack that formal high tea became a social event in popular culture. Given that the weather has finally cooled, there is no better time to indulge in one of our best culinary imports from Britain.
English Rose Tea Room
For those who want a traditional high tea service, look no further than the English Rose Tea Room. Situated in the heart of beautiful Carefree, English Rose has developed a reputation for providing an authentic experience, thanks British native Jo Gemmill, who in addition to owning and operating the tearoom is also a certified etiquette instructor. From a simple scone with Devon Cream to The Duchess of Bedford’s Formal Afternoon Tea, there is something for every discerning tea lover’s palate. English Rose boasts more than 50 loose leaf teas from which to choose, and the formal tea service includes three courses—tea sandwiches with perfect chicken salad, fresh cucumbers, rich cream cheese and more, as well as scones and a three-tier tray of petit-fours and other mini desserts—plus a pot of tea for each guest. Beyond the epicurean experience, Gemmill has gone to great lengths to transport diners to her home country. Her attention to detail is apparent in the furnishings and décor, and extends to the outside dining patio, which offers a lovely garden setting. Sumptuous fabrics, crystal chandeliers, and English bone china provide an elegant and unforgettable experience. CarefreeTea.com In recent months, the Wrigley Mansion also re-launched its similarly traditional homage to the classic high tea. Available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with seatings at 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. in the stunning Geordie’s restaurant, guests can enjoy a relaxing and luxurious experience with a selection of exquisite teas from Dammann Frères and delicacies of house-made finger sandwiches, scones with decadent Devonshire cream and lemon curd, and miniature desserts. The local history is as rich here as the tea service, so sip it all in. Notably, the tea service itself honors aficionado Ada Wrigley, for whom Wrigley’s gum magnate William Wrigley, Jr. initially built the mansion for as a gift 100 years ago. WrigleyMansion.com The Phoenician also has a rich history in observing afternoon tea. For more than 25 years, in fact, the AAA Five Diamond resort has relished in providing the ritual while enveloped in a contemporary setting. Held for years just off the main lobby of the resort, the ritual was recently upgraded and moved to its own space on the property as part of the resort’s multi-million dollar facelift. Live music provides an inviting backdrop to this iconic

offering, creating a signature setting for any special occasion. Full Tea includes a luscious three-course menu of delicate, house-made finger sandwiches, fresh scones with Devonshire cream and fruit preserves, and delicious pastries—all complemented by a diverse selection of fine tea blends. Those-in-the-know opt for the Royal Tea enhancement, which includes all of the above plus a glass of Perrier-Jouët Champagne. ThePhoenician.com Of course, there are those who buck tradition altogether, opting to create their own take on tea service. Case in point: the tipsy tea party at The Camby. Offered monthly at the hotel’s Bees Knees outpost, this spirited iteration features antique teapots whose contents have been turned up a notch. Why? They have been infused with actual spirits and house syrups, transforming them into tea-infused craft cocktails! This twisted take also includes several courses of elevated sweet and savory bites, presented tableside every few minutes

THE ACTRESS AND ENTREPRENEUR ON GROWING UP IN ARIZONA, HER ‘BOYFRIEND IN A BOTTLE,’ ACTING, AND CAUSES SHE’S PASSIONATE ABOUT
Kate Walsh ARTICLE BY MICHELLE GLICKSMAN Actress and entrepreneur Kate Walsh—known for her roles on such shows as Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy, 13 Reasons Why, and Emily in Paris—has been busy. We’re speaking via telephone during a recent Tuesday evening for me, and Wednesday morning for her, as she was in Australia at the time. “I’m coming at you from the future!” she jokes.

I thank her for the interview and for speaking with me again—I’ve interviewed her before— and she replies that not only is she happy to do so, but she’s so excited because “I miss Tucson and I miss Arizona.” Walsh moved to Tucson when she was 11 and grew up there, later attending the University of Arizona. “I’ve loved it,” she shares. “I had the best time growing up there. That’s where my best girlfriends still are, and I love going back. … “There’s nothing like the desert in bloom. And ocotillos and Saguaros—I love it. I love hiking, too.” In fact, when she was back this past summer to visit her friends—she comes back at least once a year—she spent time hiking in Saguaro National Park. During the visit, she also spent time at the Grand Canyon and in Sedona. “Arizona to me is just one of the most beautiful states,” she says. Walsh also loves Sonoran Mexican food and the iconic Arizona Inn (which is where she stays in Tucson when she visits if she’s not staying with one of her friends). “I also worked there in college,” she shares. Her Arizona roots and the beauty of the landscape influenced her so much that she created a cactus garden, complete with rocks, at her home in Australia.
CURRENT ROLES, AND REPRISING HER GREY’S CHARACTER While she was in the United States this summer, Walsh spent time in Los Angeles filming several episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, which was the much-anticipated reprise of her popular character Dr. Addison Montgomery on the show. “It was really overwhelming and beautiful and very emotional,” she says of going back to the show, for the role she had played on it from 20052012. “Imagine going back to a job you were at [many] years ago, but some of the same people are still there. It’s like going home for the holidays but if you haven’t been home for [many] years. … It was like a warm, tearful embrace.” CONTINUED >

She has also been busy filming other roles. Walsh flew to Europe to shoot the second season of Emily in Paris, which dropped on Dec. 22. Then, back in the U.S., she also filmed a new show called Sprung. “It’s a Covid comedy,” she explains. “I play a congresswoman who may have bought stock in a certain vaccine and then dumped it. It was a really fun show to do.” That show—for which an air date has yet to be announced—also stars Martha Plimpton and Garrett Dillahunt. Now Walsh is back in Australia, and this month will be performing in a stage production of Mary Stewart.
THE SCENT OF SUCCESS It was around the time she moved to Arizona when Walsh’s grandmother gave her a bottle of violet perfume. “I’ve always loved fragrance,” she says. “I remember, when I was young, my mom had this one friend and we’d go to her house. They’d have coffee and I’d explore. She had this great boudoir vanity with all these perfumes and bottles. I remember being just obsessed with it. It was like a fantasyland. That and a good playhouse—and where’s the jewelry box—and I’m done! So, I always loved it. “Then when I was in high school in Tucson I got Jessica McClintock [perfume], then later I got my first Chanel.” Fast-forward to 2008. She was on Private Practice then, playing Dr. Addison Montgomery (the character which would later cross over to Grey’s) and she had just broken up with her real-life boyfriend. “I missed his cologne,” she says. She was out shopping and so went over to the men’s fragrance counter. “I don’t have to have a boyfriend to have that boyfriend smell,” she remembers thinking. The idea of a “boyfriend in a bottle” stuck with her, and so in 2009 she founded Boyfriend, launching on the Home Shopping Network in 2010. “I wanted to do just a digital brand,” she says. “I wanted to do it without traditional public relations or buying ads in magazines—just doing web commercials and just doing it online.”
44
I NSP IR E D BY | EN TERTA I NME NT
At the time, the idea was unique. Twitter was just getting going and Instagram wasn’t around yet. The digital landscape was entirely different. Today, Boyfriend—which is neither a masculine nor feminine scent—is an award-winning fragrance. “With top notes of night-blooming jasmine and juicy plum, Boyfriend opens up into layers of warm vanilla, tears of benzoin, a hint of patchouli and finally heats up on your skin with a touch of musk [synthetic] and golden amber,” it is described as on BoyfriendPerfume.com. Boyfriend is a lifestyle brand, and launched with a body oil, hand and body cream, candle, eau de parfum, and a solid fragrance. Walsh always wanted the brand to be a way to connect with her fans, and so she created a group called Boyfriend Confidential on Facebook. There, she and her team ask for members’ opinions on products, and ideas for product development. “We really do use that,” Walsh says. “So, it’s sort of an interactive brand in that way, and it makes me feel really connected to our clients. It’s for them. It’s very analogous to TV and film, because you’re doing this for the audience. Ultimately, the audience has to like [your products].” Walsh says there are several new fragrances that they are currently testing, which were developed with input from several people from the group. The group was also where the suggestion to create an air freshener came from. “I wouldn’t have thought of that,” Walsh says. “But I loved the idea and we made it!” In addition to the Boyfriend website, the company’s products are now also available on Amazon—meaning they can be purchased internationally, which was one of Walsh’s goals.
COMMITTED TO CAUSES As if acting and running a company weren’t enough, Walsh is also very active in supporting various causes. For many years she has been involved with Operation Smile, which treats those with cleft lips and cleft palates, as well as Oceana, which is an international conservation organization that addresses such things as legislation for reef protection, seafood fraud, protecting oceans from deepwater drilling, and more. She is also involved with Planned Parenthood, especially Planned Parenthood of Arizona. “It was seminal in my growing-up,” she shares. “It’s where I went when I didn’t have health insurance in Arizona, and when I was a struggling actress in Chicago or New York. I always went to Planned Parenthood, not just for birth control, but for health services, my annual exam—everything. They really expanded what they do and their services over the years, and it’s really an incredible organization, particularly the Arizona chapter. I’m very passionate about working with them. “I’ve really, even recently, been focusing more on women’s issues and helping women,” she says. Recently, she’s been hosting a weekly or bi-weekly event on her Instagram page, shining a light on women-founded industries and young entrepreneurs. “Women’s health and education are critical and something I think we’ll always have to fight for. “In the meantime, I’m also trying to slow down,” she says, laughing. “I sort of just pretend that I can do that. Sometimes I pretend I’m moving in slow motion just to have the sense of slowing down!”

EXPLORING THE WESTIN RESORT & SPA, PUERTO VALLARTA
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE GLICKSMAN
I’m not sure which elicited a squeal from my daughter first—the whirlpool on the balcony of our 10th-floor room, which overlooked the resort’s pools and endless-seeming ocean just past it, or the stunning blue of the pool, interrupted only by individual palm trees growing throughout, and the ocean beyond. It was stunning. The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is just a short 2.5-hour flight from Phoenix. It’s situated on a former palm tree plantation (hence the palm trees left to grow in mini palm tree islands throughout the pools) over 14 acres, and my family and I were ready to explore it all. First up though—sipping the beverages that were presented to us upon arrival. The above-and-beyond service at the resort began the moment we arrived, and continued until we headed back to the airport. Staff greeted us as we walked around, some by our names, and everyone was friendly and going out of their way to make sure our stay was as perfect as possible. We toured the property, exploring the lush grounds; spa; gym; tennis courts; kayak rental area; beach club with pergolas, chaise lounges, and privacy curtains; meeting spaces; pools with a swim-up bar; and of course, the restaurants. As Arizonans, the first thing on our agenda was to curl our toes into the sand of the beach and dip our feet into the water. The beach was devoid of rocks, the sand was soft, and the waves lapped gently on the shore. Perfection. After that start, we spent our days lounging by the pool, where both my son and daughter spent time lying on the built-in lounges in the pool. My husband and I grabbed lunch and a drink at the swim-up bar. CONTINUED >

In addition to the food and drink available by the pool, there were three on-site restaurants to dine at—La Cascada Restaurant & Bar, Arrecifes Seafood & Steakhouse, and El Palmar Restaurant. All offered a variety of options, including seafood that was freshly caught, and a selection of healthy options. In fact, The Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta has a holistic commitment to well-being: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Play Well, Feel Well, and Meet Well. The management and staff go out of their way to ensure that the destination is a place to relax, recharge, and have the type of vacation you’ve dreamed of, whether that’s relaxing by the pool, spending time at the spa (I had a massage that was amazing!), enjoying water sports, biking around the area, or heading out to explore Puerto Vallarta itself. One of the days we took a cab into town and walked and shopped near the Malecón Boardwalk area. It runs alongside the ocean and features a variety of shops, dining, and vendors. We spent a few hours exploring the area before heading back in time for our evening reservation for a picnic dinner on the beach. The sunset picnic was set up on a pergola, with cozy cushions to sit on and expertly prepared food served to us as we watched the sun dip below the horizon while the stunning colors of the sunset were streaked across the sky and reflected on the water. Both my son and daughter declared it was one of the most memorable family meals we’d ever had. Whether for a family trip, romantic escape, girlfriend getaway, or destination wedding, it’s just a short flight to paradise at this stunning oceanfront destination.

The Cold Plunge
Dive Into The Wellness World’s Hottest (Actually, Coldest) Addition 54
AT H LE T E LIF E | FITNESS
Are you ready to take the plunge? It’s a question you may not have asked yourself before but will now. So what is “The Cold Plunge?” In short, it’s a brisk, three-minute immersion into a cold tub that triggers the body into a state of regulation, greatly improving levels of energy, mental and physical strength and blood circulation. The profound effects of The Plunge can impact your overall health, from reducing chronic pain and inflammation to boosting metabolism and focus and creating better sleep and mental clarity. Co-founded by two entrepreneurs who bonded over their love for health and business, Ryan Duey and Mike Garrett found a friendship and created a vision to rejuvenate people. Two to three minutes a day of plunging into 39-55 degrees of cold water stimulates the mind, body and soul and sets your day into optimistic motion. Mike and Ryan both previously owned their own flotation therapy centers. Early pioneers in that space, they discovered they shared many of the same values, business practices and interests. Therefore, the formulation of a business together became inevitable. With finding himself feeling sick on a consistent basis, Ryan found solace in cold plunging. With an engineering background and having built his own chest freezer, Mike found cold plunging tubs on the market unattainable. Together, they set out to create a more realistic solution for half the price. “Everything else on the market was $10k, and it’s not really achievable for a lot of people,” they say. But as the business began to set in, so did the 2020 pandemic, forcing both to shut down their primary businesses, which turned out to be a blessing. It offered time for Mike to begin designing the product that would look, feel and cost significantly different. In a short 12 months, The Cold Plunge quickly garnered attention as a result of organic growth, wellness influencers who embraced the product, and a pandemic that forced people to focus on their health and added time at home. It’s also worth noting that the likes of Tony Hawk and Kerri Walsh Jennings swear by their cold plunges for their athletic recovery. “It’s an interesting moment in time. There’s this heightened sense of, ‘how do I become more resilient, how do I boost my immune system?’ Health and wellness is way more in the spotlight, and the trend of more people being at home has launched a new consumer process,” they say. “What’s also exciting about this is that we have partnered with American Neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman, who has a very specific protocol: Get in for sixty seconds, get out for sixty, do three to five rotations and get to the point of a shiver.”
It doesn’t hurt that they are designed with your home in mind. The elegant and unique physique makes it an easy decision for everyone to appreciate. “The design passed the wife test—everyone was happy to have it! We appreciate aesthetics and design, that’s been a key piece. It fits with a beautiful home and we are proud of that.” Everyone from homeowners to commercial businesses are hopping on the train to add these beautiful accessories into their space. Hot or cold environment, home or commercial studio—the tubs were built with design and longevity in mind. “The one thing I’m still bullish on is I know it works,” Ryan says. “Anyone who gets a unit from us, their true testimony is that this would go onto their top three things they would NOT give up for their health and wellness. Right now the cold plunge is “kind of trendy, it’s kind of cool, but it’s effective. Two to three minutes, or even 60 seconds a day—there are very few things out there that give you the return you get from this.” Different protocols are needed for different desired results. They recommend one style of plunging for increasing metabolism and fat loss and a different, more deliberate process for muscle recovery or inflammation, mental clarity and so on. Ryan also compares it to working out, citing weightlifting as an example. “The whole thing is tearing your muscles down so they become stronger. You are going through an intentional stressor. You will get a relaxed response after, but you are intentionally putting yourself into a fight or flight state. It’s uncomfortable. You are literally going through an override of that natural internal process, and that sends signals back into the body that creates these different activations.”
The goal with the cold water is to lower your core body temperature, and it takes time to do that. “Water cools your body at 25 times what cold air does. Cold water is the quickest activation to do it.” Ryan shares his sentiment on doing something uncomfortable first thing in the morning to make the biggest, most positive impact on your day. What you can expect to feel is, “I did something first thing in the morning that I didn’t want to do, but I know it is good for me.” “What’s also exciting about this is that we have partnered with American Neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman, who has a very specific protocol: Get in for sixty seconds, get out for sixty, do three to five rotations and get to the point of a shiver,” he says. Ryan also knows over the next one to two years they are going to learn so much about cold plunging. As more people do it, there will be more anecdotal data and validity to the practice. Ryan has his own process—getting in, breathing four seconds in and four seconds out, transitioning his hands in and out of the water because their different nerve endings create a different blood flow and kick off the fight or flight mechanism. His nervous system then calms down and his mind sets into calmness roughly two and a half minutes in. After a three minute plunge, he comes out super energized with mental clarity. “It feels like a back door to meditation for people who don’t meditate, i.e. two to three minutes vs twenty,” he says. “It’s a totally different process, but you push out the mental chatter and you become more present.” Cold plunging can be done daily or multiple times a day. It’s all about getting people to explore what works for them. They may offer up recommendations, but ultimately CONTINUED >

it’s you building a relationship with your cold plunge. Many like the morning plunge, others enjoy nighttime. For some, it cools the body down resulting in better sleep. “A lot of people who come for our product just want to do hard things, uncomfortable things. They say, if it’s good for me AND it’s difficult, then they are completely motivated by that.” The Cold Plunge offers four different models, all the same size, all cold at 39-55 degrees, and one that can turn into a hot tub at 103 degrees. The heat can be great for clients in really cold environments. There is also an app to control the temperature via bluetooth. “One of the things that has been rad that we did not anticipate is parents doing it with their children,” he says. “It’s become this ritual where they do it together, a family plunge.” CrossFit frontman Rich Froning told the team that the coolest thing about having The Plunge is doing the plunge together every night with his daughter. It’s another layered benefit for their clients to know, one of creating special time around doing something uncomfortable and getting healthier, together.
