This season, we’re trading our to-do lists for bucket lists, and this edition is packed with warm-weather wanderlust. From strolling the storied streets of Manhattan’s Upper East Side to stepping into the whimsical world of Meow Wolf’s Radio Tave, we’re taking you far and wide — and showing you how to see even the familiar with fresh eyes. If you’re craving a family getaway, our curated collection of road trips all come with a refreshing twist: each destination includes water! And speaking of sunshine, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite summer skin must-haves to help you glow while you go — with protection, of course! After all, the best kind of beauty is the effortless kind. Whether you’re hopping on a plane or simply rediscovering your own city, may this issue spark your sense of wonder and make your summer one to remember. Happy exploring,

As temperatures rise, summer skincare is all about protection, hydration, and maintaining a healthy glow. Josie Barnard, PA-C at Skin Pharm Houston, says, “One of my favorite combination treatments is microneedling with PRP paired with Botox or Dysport. This duo smooths fine lines, improves skin texture, and delivers a refreshed appearance.” She also uses Botox or Dysport to treat underarm hyperhidrosis, which she says “can be a game changer during the warmer months.” Barnard also recommends Skinvive, an injectable moisturizer that helps skin retain moisture from within for deep hydration. She emphasizes that daily sunscreen and a consistent routine are essential all summer. Read more about Skin Pharm Houston’s best treatments for the summer season.
Sculptra Sculptra is an injectable that helps the skin naturally boost collagen over time, working to smooth, firm, and refresh the appearance. It targets volume loss in areas like the cheeks, temples, and chin, with results lasting up to two years. For best results, 2–4 injection sessions or 3–4 microneedling treatments are recommended, spaced every 4–6 weeks.
Skin Pharm Houston offers several treatments and products that are perfect for a summer glow.

Botox and Dysport are injectables used to relax lines and wrinkles, helping to soften expression lines for a more refreshed look. These treatments use naturally occurring proteins to ease stiff muscles and smooth the skin within days. They’re performed by board-certified providers who focus on a natural appearance. For lasting results, treatments are typically recommended every 3–4 months.
Filler Filler is used to subtly smooth fine lines and restore volume in areas that have lost fullness over time. It offers instant results with minimal downtime and uses ingredients like hyaluronic acid to help lift and contour the face. Treatments are performed by board-certified providers who focus on natural-looking results. For best outcomes, maintenance is typically recommended every 6–12 months.
Skinvive This hyaluronic acid skin booster is designed to treat dullness and fine lines while improving hydration for a lasting glow. It’s injected as microdroplets to boost collagen, increase moisture, and soften the skin. It’s ideal for improving skin laxity, smoothing fine lines, and enhancing radiance. Results are typically visible within four weeks and can last up to six months. Treatments are recommended every six months. skinpharm.com

SEE & DO
Visitors looking for a quintessential New York adventure can enjoy a stroll down Madison Avenue and explore the flagship stores of some of the most sought-after luxury brands. Known as one of the premier shopping destinations in the city, Madison Avenue has preserved much of its historical charm due to rules governing exterior building facades. The Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) helps maintain the area and manages many events involving over 800 businesses. One of the newest tenants on Madison Avenue is the famed French crystal house, Lalique, which just opened Maison d'Artiste in the historic Chopard Mansion. Inspired by artists and collectors, the flagship boutique offers several curated spaces, including an exclusive invite-only bar, lounge, and VIP area. Ralph Lauren, one of the first to move its flagship location to the area in the 1980s, has a significant presence with multiple stores. Shoppers can walk through a converted home to explore the brand's expansive offerings, including home decor. Housed in a landmark bank building and two historic townhomes, the Hermès flagship on Madison Avenue is one of the largest in the world. The lightfilled boutique spans multiple floors, showcasing an

extensive collection of luxury offerings, including rare, one-of-a-kind samples that never went into production. Although special guests are ushered to the invite-only lounge, all shoppers can enjoy the rooftop garden with views of the Upper East Side. Made famous by Sex and the City, Spanish brand Manolo Blahnik's boutique is part shopping experience and part museum. The outpost's walls are full of original signed designs from the luxury shoe designer himself.
SIP & SAVOR
Visitors can keep the luxury vibes going from breakfast through dinner at several unique restaurants on the Upper East Side. The Regency Bar & Grill at Loews Regency New York Hotel introduced the famed "Power Breakfast" in the 1970s when the city's movers and shakers would gather for early morning meetings over breakfast. Guests can still get in on the action at a more leisurely pace with classic breakfast fare.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is part of the “Museum Mile” in New York City.
Coffee aficionados will enjoy Ralph's Coffee on Madison Avenue. What started as a simple coffee shop by Ralph Lauren became a must-try destination for artisanal coffee and pastries. Fashion meets fine dining at Le Café Louis Vuitton. The all-day cafe offers dishes including Sliders 1898, Pomme Mousseline Louis Vuitton, and La Caesar 57th, all artfully presented, and some even adorned with the iconic LV monogram. Diners will enjoy French cuisine and art-deco interiors at L'Avenue at Saks. Guests can stroll down a corridor with floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows to enjoy a main dining room or the cozy bar and lounge, Le Chalet, offering après-ski-inspired decor. Radio Tave transforms a Houston radio station into a surreal journey through sound, art, and imagination.
Recently, Meow Wolf opened its newest permanent exhibition, Radio Tave, in Houston’s historic Fifth Ward. The immersive art experience transforms an ordinary radio station into an otherworldly and, at times, mind-boggling journey that has impressed guests since the doors opened in October. Over 100 artists contributed to the exhibition during the yearlong construction project. Half of the artists are from Texas, and their combined efforts merge Meow Wolf’s signature storytelling with Houston’s creative spirit. “We’re beyond excited for everyone to experience Radio Tave,” said Jose Tolosa, CEO of Meow Wolf. “The artistic talent of this city is unparalleled, and we’ve worked hand in hand with Houston’s best to create something that will leave people transformed.” The installation features some of Houston’s top talent, including Gonzo247 and notable names such as Havel Ruck Projects, Kill Joy, and El Franco Lee II. Inside, visitors will enjoy a wide range
of interactive and surreal environments. One of the centerpieces, Obsidiodyssey by Santa Fe artist Janell Langford, explores the emotional journey of the creative process through a complex series of rooms. Radio Tave is the most sound-driven Meow Wolf project to date. Central to the experience is a mysterious station called ETNL Radio. Local musicians like Fat Tony, who contributed music and appeared in the commercial, collaborated on the project. Texas musicians Pro Ghost and ODAE created tracks that were heard throughout the exhibit. Visitors can also explore a jukebox filled with 30 songs by Houston artists and a front-of-house playlist featuring 50 more. General Manager Gil Perez describes the experience as an invitation to explore imagination without limits. Timed tickets are now available, giving guests space to fully immerse themselves in this multidimensional world. meowwolf.com

Port Aransas
Four hours from Houston
Less than four hours from Houston, Port Aransas offers a combination of beachside recreation, cultural history, and local attractions on Mustang Island. Referred to as “Port A,” this town features 18 miles of shoreline and is a favorite of visitors looking for a variety of things to do while on vacation. The area’s history traces back over 4,500 years to when it first formed as submerged sandbars. The Karankawa Indians were among the island’s earliest inhabitants, with Spanish explorer Cabeza de Vaca making contact in 1528. These days, fishing still has a stronghold, with options ranging from deep-sea charters to pier and bay fishing. Outdoor enthusiasts will be thrilled by kayaking, jet-skiing,

Bludorn, Squash Blossom
SEASONAL SQUASH BLOSSOMS WITH RICOTTA, PESTO, AND PEPPER JAM OFFER A CRISP, FLAVORFUL SUMMER STARTER AT BLUDORN. From April through October, Bludorn offers a seasonal appetizer that draws in rave reviews: Squash Blossom. Executive chef and partner Aaron Bludorn calls the dish "light and overall fun," and it's easy to see why. The blossoms are filled with ricotta and served with zucchini pesto and pepper jam. The flavor pairing is inspired by cream cheese and pepper jelly on crackers, a simple snack many know from popular party fare. They're breaded with Parmesan breadcrumbs, a nod to eggplant Parmesan, adding a bit of crunch to each bite. The Squash Blossoms are a seasonal favorite on the dinner menu, reflecting Bludorn's approach to blending familiar flavors with refined techniques. For those dining at Bludorn this summer, it is an appetizer worth ordering while it lasts. bludornrestaurant.com
THE FILLING
THE SQUASH BLOSSOMS
THE SAUCE
The dish begins with zucchini squash blossoms. "They are breaded with flour, eggs, and Parmesan breadcrumbs," Bludorn explains. "Then lightly fried until crispy."

Inside, the blossoms are stuffed with a simple mixture. "They are filled with cream cheese, ricotta cheese, and feta cheese mixed with basil puree," says the chef. "All items are mixed in a bowl. It's really simple."
THE TOPPINGS
A blend of sweet, spicy, and fresh elements is added to finish the dish. "We add pepper jam and a shaved fennel and herb salad to the top," Bludorn notes. "The pepper jam gives some sweet heat, and the herb and fennel salad gives the dish some fresh herbaceousness."
Everything rests on a bright green base. "We make a basil-zucchini pesto to give the dish a creamy, herbaceous flavor that goes with every bite," the chef says.

Ambiance: Throw pillows are a must. Pull them from your couches or invest in outdoor pillows that can be used repeatedly. A large throw is also essential to protect from moist ground and grass stains. Bring your favorite tunes with one of the many available portable speakers or unplug and enjoy the sounds of nature. Cut flowers add a wow factor.
Gear: You don’t have to own a picnic basket to have a picnic. But if you do bring a basket, make sure to have some way to chill your perishables and drinks. Reusable silverware, plastic wine or drink cups, and plates often come with a picnic basket set, but can also be purchased separately. Keeping it elegant, but easy (and cool) is the key! CONTINUED >

Accompaniments: A cheese plate with fruit is the perfect start to your picnic fare. As with the cheese, your drink selections should coordinate with the main dish. For salads, pair accoutrements with the dressing in mind. A lemony herb vinaigrette dressing goes well with smooth cheeses and tart beverages such as lemonade, prosecco, or sauvignon blanc. Enjoy your perfect picnic!

Architect Stephanie Millet loves residential projects, turning lines and curves into rooms and homes as clients dream out loud about the places they want to live. A native of California, Millet earned her bachelor’s degree in architecture at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and worked for a residential architecture firm in California before moving to Houston to earn a master’s in architecture at Rice University. Once here, she decided to stay and found a work “home” at Natalye Appel + Associates Architects, where she became a partner in 2010. In July, Millet – who lives in Houston’s East End with her 10- and 13-year-old sons – was named a Leader In Design by the Houston Design District. “Natalye has been a huge inspiration and mentor to me,” Millet said. “When I came to Houston, I thought about how I would have a family and a career and they seemed like conflicting ideas. When I saw Natalye doing it, all blended together … it allowed me to say ‘I don’t have to fit in this box, I can design my own box, my own life.’” Appel’s office culture is collaborative, so everyone has input on a lot of projects. In addition to high-profile residential work, they’ve done the Saint Arnold Brewery, award-winning Levy Park as well as Woodchase and Pine Cove Parks and the recently finished Camden Park. The city park projects were done with the Office of James Burnett, which was hired as landscape architect, then OJB hired the Appel firm for pavilions and outdoor structures. “We just finished Camden Park in April and I’m excited about that one,” Millet said. “That park had unique challenges because the canopies and buildings are egg-shaped, so there were no corners in the project and we had to make sure all of the edges met. We also have this big metal screen that wraps around the building like a ribbon.”
