MCCARRON HAS BEEN IN THE PAGEANT AND ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY FOR THE BETTER PART OF TWO DECADES. A former Miss Alabama and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, she has since stepped away from the public eye in favor of a quiet life with her growing family. The Alabama native is married to Texans quarterback AJ McCarron and the two, who met on Twitter, are expecting their third son in April. Already a mom to four-year-old Tripp and two-year-old Cash, McCarron was hoping for a girl with this third pregnancy but now laughs and says, “God had other plans.” Beauty queen turned NFL wife, turned mom, McCarron decided she needed an outlet that was just hers. After a visit to a local art store where she stocked up on supplies, the new mom began painting while her oldest son, then a newborn, napped. After posting her paintings on Instagram where they quickly sold out, she realized that what was once a passing hobby could become a business. McCarron is now represented by an art gallery in Alabama and paints in a storage unit turned studio while her boys are at school. HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN PAINTING? I have always enjoyed doing art. Growing up, it was my outlet and time to escape from day to day stressors and create. I separated myself from my career in the modeling and entertainment industry but still craved to work while I was a stay-at-home first-time mom. I watched a few tutorials on YouTube of artwork that I liked and became inspired to try myself. I quickly realized I might be really good at this. WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION FOR YOUR ART? The first year I began painting, the natural flow of paint inspired me. I could manipulate my art to look like a beautiful marble, and I experimented using watercolor techniques with acrylics as my medium. I knew my art would be attractive to interior designers and figured that it would be easy for anyone to hang this type of abstract art in their home. When you first become an artist, you try to find where you fit in the art world. I didn’t know my aesthetic and tried to emulate some of my favorite artists and their work until I found what fits me the most. I’m more experienced now, and I have expanded my knowledge of art in general and techniques - I think I have finally found my identity. HAS YOUR STYLE CHANGED SINCE YOU BEGAN PAINTING? I have recently switched up my entire aesthetic while still keeping the same techniques I learned with my first pieces. I’ve been buying handwritten French letters from the 1700s and 1800s, and the calligraphy is just beautiful. I’ve been incorporating certain curves, lines, and techniques into my art, and the outcome has been exciting. Essentially, I am mixing the old with the new.

We both grew up there, our family and friends are from Alabama, and we want the boys to have a great childhood playing with their cousins and being around the most important people in our lives. Currently, we live in Houston and LOVE it. It is our favorite city we have lived in since he joined the NFL. I think Texas has many “southern” similarities to how we grew up, and it’s most familiar to us. We currently live in Sugarland, but we may be looking for a little bigger place closer to AJ’s work after this third baby. We will see. (Master Distiller) Eddie Russell and I have worked together for about two years to create Longbranch,” says McConaughey. “Why did we name it Longbranch? We meant it as an extension of the hand – a welcome to friends who can become family.” So, how did McConaughey get his Texas roots into a bourbon so famous for being from the Bluegrass State? The distillers used the most common small tree type to grow throughout southern Texas – the mesquite tree. The eight-year-old Wild Turkey Bourbon is put through a filtration process using American white oak and is then put through a second filtration process using charcoal made from Texas mesquite. “When mesquite is grilled, it gives off flavors that are earthy, rich, smokey, and sweet. It was the note I was looking for – a little sweeter. Refining the bourbon with those mesquite charcoals also gave it a little more smoothness,” said the actor.
