Fall Tranquility FEATURING THE ARTISTRY OF INTERIOR DESIGNER GREG BAUDOIN
WITH FALL UPON US, AND WINTER AROUND THE CORNER, THE IDEA OF UNWINDING IN A PEACEFUL STUDY SOUNDS EVEN MORE APPEALING. Greg Baudoin brings 20-plus years of interior design experience into these three residential hideaways. In the rooms featured here and in the innumerable interiors he has transformed throughout his career, Greg marries tradition with an element of the unexpected with subtle layers of singular textures to reflect the individuality of each space and homeowner.

Impactful Details: The Home of Ellie and Tom Lawrence / A painting by Veda Reed, represented by the David Lusk Gallery, is central to this design.
IMPACTFUL DETAILS The Home of Ellie and Tom Lawrence Greg centered the direction of this room around an expressive painting by Veda Reed, a lifelong Memphian and artist represented locally by David Lusk. Greg worked around the existing black lacquered background by replacing white, recessed portions of the ceiling with grass cloth that is interwoven with a faint thread of black. He made artistic decisions based on texture with embellishments such as a leather band around the base of the ottoman and miniature lumbar pillows on the sofa. A layered selection of bold materials–metal, leather, wool and more–are pivotal to the reinvention of a room where intricate yet impactful details prevail. CONTINUED >

Bold Sophistication: The Home of Sherri and Kevin Kimery / A wallcovering of pinstriped wool is an innovative tribute to Kevin’s role as a businessman.
Hand-painted, British soldiers from 1881 displayed in a shadowbox were a gift to Kevin from one of his best friends and mentors in life.
BOLD SOPHISTICATION The Home of Sherri and Kevin Kimery In a family home where the majority population is female, this study is Kevin’s reprieve. Greg designed it with a masculine energy, and, because Kevin is President and CEO of Kimery Wealth Management, Greg creatively chose to use pinstriped wool on the walls, a tribute to Kevin’s role as a businessman. A custom mohair couch, a ceiling covered in embossed leather, art lights, and handsome molding complete this well-appointed room with sophistication and balance. While the design of this space emphasizes Kevin’s lifestyle, it is a place both Sherri and Kevin enjoy every evening.

A STATELY RETREAT The Home of Greg Baudoin and Greg Cambell “The room by nature is a study; however, it has lived many lives,” Greg explains about this stately retreat in his home. Greg’s study is an impressive extension of the master bedroom. A work of art from the Ted Faiers estate, represented locally by the David Lusk Gallery, is important to the success of this design. It is an ideal location for showcasing the men’s extensive art collection. Also, antique books line the shelves. They are part of a vast collection that both Greg Baudoin and Greg Campbell, a prolific floral designer in the Memphis area, are proud of with the earliest book dating back to 1634. The walls are faux painted with a brushed wood pattern that adds earthy glamour, and two T.H. chest, adding a touch of history to this noble room. Foundational to the aesthetic of these restful, interior spaces is the rigorous use of detail that Greg is known for in his vast portfolio of work. Those details are selected and thoughtfully incorporated to mirror the lives and character or each client.

The exhibition shines a light on beautiful contributions made to the overall history of American Art by African American artists who were responding to the political, social and economic climate through their work. The Dixon has established partnerships with LeMoyne-Owen College, Second Congregational Church and various private collectors, helping to establish Memphis’ role in the development of Black American art. The museum, with Jenkins leading the charge, will present two additional Black Artists in America exhibitions that will chronologically continue the visual narrative presented in this show during the fall of 2023 and the fall of 2025. When asked about some of her favorite things to do in Memphis in her spare time, her heart-felt response perhaps embodies the very goal of the exhibition and further illustrates why Jenkins was the perfect person to bring it to life. "Memphis is my home. My family, my roots, are deeply embedded here. Spiritually, it is to me a uniquely geographical space, an authentic crossroads, defined by the longterm presence of Blacks in this region. Much of the inspiration for my

I highly recommend Worth Jones and the value he brings to residential real estate transactions. When we connected with Worth, we had 17 showings and three offers for over asking price. It was evident to us Worth has a mastery of the industry in getting our property ready, pricing strategy and its subsequent sale.

HOMETOWN HERO MIFA
ARTICLE LINDSEY TONKIN
Q & A with MIFA's Ellen Whitten HIGHLIGHTING ONE OF THE LOCAL NON-PROFITS HELPING TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF SOME OF THE MOST UNDERSERVED MEMPHIANS
Q: WHAT IS MIFA, WHO DO YOU SERVE AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN AROUND? MIFA (Memphis Inter-Faith Association) was founded in 1968 after the assassination of Martin Luther King by an alliance of clergy and community leaders who sought solutions to issues Memphis was facing. Sadly many of those issues are still prevalent today. Memphis has the highest food insecurity rate of any major metropolitan area in the nation and since 1976, our answer has been Meals on Wheels. Other programs for families provide services to prevent homelessness, stabilize families, and encourage independence. Our interfaith legacy remains central to our identity, fostering a stronger, healthier community. Q: HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED GREATER DEMAND FOR YOUR SERVICES RELATIVE TO THE PANDEMIC? MIFA has a long history of adapting and innovating. The pandemic brought new challenges, but we found ways to serve more of those who needed us by implementing a delivery model that mitigated risk to seniors. We received three times our typical applications from March 2020 to March 2021 and served 100,000 more meals than the year before. Q: HOW CAN OUR READERS HELP? The pandemic has reduced our meal delivery workforce by half so we are recruiting new volunteers. Our holiday card campaign is one of MIFA’s key annual fundraisers. For just $10 per card, you can send us your recipient list, and our volunteers will do the rest! For more information visit mifa.org 42
