LIFESTYLE LETTER

New Year, New Me (no, really)

January 2026 PUBLISHER

Mike McCarthy | mike.mccarthy@citylifestyle.com M AN AG I N G E D I TO R

Nora Tarte | nora.tarte@citylifestyle.com

Hello and Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe a year has passed since I wrote my last January letter and, oh my, what a year it was. The last year was challenging for me. I dealt with a significant health issue that extended well beyond any reasonably expected timeline and reduced the typically active me to a whiny couch potato. Convalescence is not my thing, and being forced to significantly limit my activity put a real crimp in my life. The longer it dragged on, the more I missed the simple acts and interactions that come with everyday life. And the longer it dragged on, the more resolute I became that once I was ready, I was going to jump back in (ok, tiptoe) feet first. This fall, I began to re-emerge, and while I’m still working my way back to full fitness, I started taking in more of the wonderful cultural offerings that Reno has to offer. The Pioneer, the Phil, the Nevada Museum of Art, and the Discovery all provided an amazing opportunity for me to get out with my family, see people, and feel enriched on a level that had been absent for far too long. And just like that, I was finally back. I’m writing this month's letter with a huge amount of optimism and excitement. I’m convinced 2026 is going to be a great year, and while I am eschewing outright resolutions (again), I am committed to living my newfound mantra of “do more stuff.” I hope you all have an amazing year. I can’t wait to see you out there.

Reno-based artist and photographer Beck Bauman didn’t follow a traditional path into the art world. In fact, her creative journey didn’t begin until age 35, when a graphic design class at Truckee Meadows Community College cracked something open. What followed was an explosion of exploration—illustrating children’s books, writing and drawing a graphic novel, experimenting with beading and “yarn painting.” Each medium pulled her deeper into color, texture, and tactile expression. And eventually, all roads led to the material that would become her signature: sequins. Since 2020, sequins have been the heart of Beck’s work. You read that right…

glimmering, vibrant, meticulously placed, and endlessly surprising sequins. Her sculptures begin as carved and handshaped styrofoam forms, which she then sands, seals, paints, and dresses in layers of sequined fabric, trims, and individual loose sequins. She upcycles discarded styrofoam and pre-loved sequined clothing whenever she can, making each piece both decadent and sustainably built. “My pieces are truly mixed-media art in every sense,” she says. Her fascination with sequins goes beyond their sparkle. They carry a duality she finds irresistible. They are cheap and luxurious, ancient and modern, rigid

yet flexible. Found everywhere from children’s backpacks to couture gowns, sequins offer unlimited possibilities. Their history stretches back thousands of years, a lineage of ornamentation that Beck feels connected to each time she works. That tension between whimsy and craftsmanship defines her pieces: they’re playful, nostalgic, and dazzling, yet executed with remarkable detail and precision. “I see no end to their possibilities, and that is what keeps me interested in their potential,” she adds. Looking ahead, Beck is already deep into her 2026 theme called “Pawn Shop: Sequined!” which is a fantastical CONTINUED > JANUARY 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E. C O M / R E N O

reimagining of pawned treasures. The series will include everything from musical instruments to electronics, jewelry to oddball curiosities, each rendered in sparkling, unexpected fashion. Some pieces veer into the surreal, a gingerbread boombox, for instance, while others reinterpret the everyday with sequined extravagance. Like an actual pawn shop, the exhibition will evolve as pieces sell and new works take their place. The first stop for Pawn Shop: Sequined! will be Sierra Arts Foundation’s Riverside Gallery in April 2026, followed by the inaugural Salt Lake Art Show in May. The collection returns closer to home in September at the Reno Tahoe International Art Show—one of Beck’s

favorite local events and a cornerstone of the region’s creative community. For those eager to follow along, Beck posts new work, behind-the-scenes videos, and updates on Instagram at @beckbaumann. She also participates in several in-person events each year. And while photos capture the shimmer, she insists that seeing sequined art in person offers something else entirely—something warm, joyful, and unexpectedly connective. As she puts it, viewing original art is “literally good for your heart.” Erin Hanna-Butros Meyering is the proud owner of a Beck Bauman piece… giant sequin lips, which daintily bite a blue gummy bear, and the teeth are complete—of course—with a forgotten piece of spinach.

R E A DY, S E T, GLOW! Skincare tips from a top Reno aesthetician

ARTICLE BY ANGELA RUDOLPH TAYOUR PHOTOGRAPHY BY MELODY RICKETTS, MELODY JANE PHOTO

The appearance and health of our skin is often the first thing people notice about us. Here, local Advanced Aesthetician Stephanie Butler, an award-winning professional for over 18 years, gives some tips for how to care for the skin you’re in and optimize its health and appearance. Q: IF YOU HAD TO PICK, WHAT IS THE ONE SKINCARE TIP THAT IS A MUST-FOLLOW FOR EVERYONE? A: The best thing you can do for your skin to slow the aging process is to wear sunscreen every day! Even in the winter, when you may not feel the effects of the sun as prominently as you do in the summer, the UV rays still penetrate and contribute to premature aging, dark spots, and an increased risk of skin cancer. Q: IS THERE A CERTAIN AGE WHEN PEOPLE SHOULD START IMPLEMENTING ANTI-AGING SKINCARE TECHNIQUES? A: I prefer the term “age management” because our skin is always aging, and we want to support it as it does. Our skin starts to lose collagen and elastin more rapidly after the age of 30, which leads to sagging, sallow skin, and more wrinkles. That's when I would recommend people start adding in products that support collagen and elastin production.

Q: WHAT PRODUCTS ARE IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT AGE MANAGEMENT SKINCARE? A: Hydration for the skin is very important, since we get drier as we age, which leads to more wrinkling. For many, adding retinol can be very beneficial for cell turnover, as it improves collagen production and helps smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Also, vitamin C helps slow the aging process from free radical damage in our environment. I always recommend paying for professional-grade retinol and vitamin C, as you tend to get what you pay for. Q: BEYOND PRODUCTS, WHAT ARE SOME AGE-MANAGEMENT SKINCARE TIPS? A: Be sure to drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, and take skin-supporting supplements. I recommend Omegas, probiotics, and antioxidants as a baseline. Supplement what you aren’t able to get from whole foods in your diet. Another amazing tool is LED light therapy. I recommend the Omnilux brand. It is important to buy a quality tool, or else you're paying for overpriced Christmas lights. Q: ACNE IS A PROBLEM MANY INDIVIDUALS FACE, EVEN INTO ADULTHOOD. ANY TIPS FOR DEALING WITH ACNE? A: Find an aesthetician who specializes in treating acne. Acne is complex, and I CONTINUED >

don't recommend people try to treat it on their own. Many people come to me with severely disrupted skin barriers after trying several different products. An acne specialist will get you on a curated skin care regimen tailored for your type of acne. Q: HOW DOES SOMEONE DETERMINE THE BEST SKINCARE ROUTINE FOR THEMSELVES? A: This is very hard to do on your own. I recommend everyone have an aesthetician they trust who can analyze their skin, taking lifestyle and habits into consideration, and recommend a routine. Eighty percent of your skin health is what you do at home, and 20% consists of treatments you get with a professional. You waste more money trying (and failing) to find what works for you on your own, as opposed to working with a knowledgeable professional. As a licensed aesthetician, continuing education is critically important to me, and I’m constantly learning and attending courses about the latest evidence-based skincare research.

18

LOCA L LIM E LIGH T | BEAU T Y

Q: WHAT IS ONE THING YOU'D NEVER SKIP IN YOUR OWN SKINCARE ROUTINE, OTHER THAN SUNSCREEN? A: Double cleansing at night, first with an oil cleanser, second with a gentle foaming cleanser. It's a game-changer, trust me! Q: FINALLY, MY FAVORITE QUESTION: WHAT MAKES YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT SKINCARE? A: I love building someone's confidence. When clients first start with me, they are often sad and feel helpless. Sometimes they've dealt with frustrating skin conditions their entire life and have tried everything, including prescriptions, and nothing has worked. I love being that safe space for them to heal and see their skin transform.

WELLNESS TRENDS TO WATCH 2026 ARTICLE BY ANGELA RUDOLPH TAYOUR

How do we live a healthy life–mind, body, and soul? Each year, new research emerges and our understanding of what wellness means deepens. The various factors, from environment, nutrition, technology use, movement, and social factors, all play meaningful roles in well-being. Below are some top wellness trends that are helping many live their best lives in 2026–and you may find a few worth adopting in the New Year.

22

S ELF CA R E | FI TNES S

RUCKING

If you haven’t seen your friends and neighbors walking around the neighborhood or on the trail wearing a weighted vest yet, you soon will. The practice is commonly referred to as “rucking,” and while it has been popular for decades in the military, it’s becoming mainstream. The benefits of getting your steps in and giving yourself a bit of a challenge can have a major impact on your heart health, weight management, stamina, and bone density, while lowering stress levels and boosting mood. What are you “weighting” for – go out and ruck!

RED LIGHTS AT NIGHT

Research abounds about the negative effects that blue lights from screens (like computers, tablets, and phones) have on the body’s natural circadian rhythm. Turning off the screens at night and using red light lamps, booklights, and even opting for red light filters on your phone are showing promising improvements in restoring the circadian rhythm and helping to improve sleep through natural production of melatonin.

ANALOG WELLNESS

If you’ve heard the term “touch grass” you’ve heard the rallying cry of the analog wellness trend. This is the idea you should unplug and engage in activities unrelated to technology. By putting the devices down and opting for non-tech activities like reading a physical book, taking a walk, or making art, the goal is to de-stress and retrain the brain to find joy in the activity itself rather than on small, nearly constant dopamine releases frequently produced from online scrolling. Benefits include reduced digital stress, improved sleep, and promoting deeper focus.

"By putting the devices down and opting for nontech activities... the goal is to de-stress and retrain the brain to find joy."

MAKING ROOM FOR MUSHROOMS

Adaptogenic mushrooms are having a major moment. The popularity of these fungi is on the rise as people are turning frequently to mushrooms and plants used as adaptogens as a way to bring the body into homeostasis. Available both as supplements in various forms like powders, capsules, and tinctures, and as ingredients in foods and beverages like soups and teas, adaptogens are believed to help regulate stress and alleviate anxiety and fatigue. Popular choices include lion’s mane, cordyceps, and reishi, and adaptogenic plants like ashwagandha and Asian ginseng. CONTINUED >

WEARABLE TECH FOR PERSONALIZED PREVENTATIVE CARE

Wearable technology like the Oura Ring, Apple Watch, and Garmin Forerunner continue to evolve into powerful personal health dashboards. These types of devices give users individualized data from sleep quality and quantity, to heart rate, mobility, calories burned, stamina, and more. Knowledge is power and the more you know about your unique metrics, the better you can work with healthcare professionals and trainers to take the exact preventative approach you need.

AI FOR WEIGHT LOSS

If you’re looking to lose weight, hitting a daily calorie deficit and tracking your macronutrients has never been easier, due to rapidly evolving AI technology. Using AI, many apps are available that let you snap a photo of your food and get an estimate of total calories and macronutrients like protein, fats, and carbohydrates. The apps also help you track your weight and enter a goal with a timeframe to calculate the amount of calories and macros you should aim for each day to sustainably meet that goal.

MEDITATION FOR WELLNESS

LESS ALCOHOL, MORE HYDRATION

The sober-curious movement continues to trend. It’s getting easier to cut out or cut back on alcoholic beverages. There is a wide availability of mocktails at bars and restaurants right here in Reno, and you can easily find alcohol alternative beverages featuring CBD or adaptogen drinks at grocery stores. As science continues to show, swapping out even just one or two alcoholic beverages a week can have major health benefits, including improved sleep, more consistent energy, and reduced inflammation.

Mental health is taking center stage in the wellness world. Meditation practice has been incorporated and is more accessible than ever. Meditation is now available as part of group wellness activities like sound baths and yoga, and as individual activities, including guided practices over streaming platforms like Netflix, or even through audiobooks and podcasts designed to help you learn meditation tools and techniques. Turning inward through meditation has been linked with brain plasticity and with the prevention of some symptoms of Alzheimer’s.

GROUP WELLNESS

HORMONE THERAPY FOR EVERYONE

Health is more enjoyable–and more sustainable–when shared. Group wellness experiences are replacing traditional social outings, whether that means a Pilates class, a moonlit snowshoe hike, or a forest sound bath. Research shows that when you talk about your wellness goals with other people, you’re more likely to stick to your plans, and meaningful social connections are a major component of longevity. Gretchen LaWall, owner of Your Body Pilates, emphasizes the importance of balance and variety in workouts to overall wellness: “Many clients have cut back on how many intense workouts per week they’re completing by adding two to three days of Pilates into the mix to balance their bodies’ needs.” Your Body Pilates offers small class sizes and private class opportunities for friends or partners who want to work out together.

Hormone therapy specifically related to healthy aging is becoming increasingly widespread and gaining popularity. Hormone imbalances can begin in your 30s and both men and women can benefit from hormone therapy and feel improvements with fatigue, irritability and anxiety, sleep issues, sexual health, and more. Local providers include New Theory Medical and Dolce Vita Wellness and Medical Spa, both of which offer assessments and services for hormone therapy and for weight loss and metabolic wellness. Their medical experts can give you a complete look at your individual metrics and suggest a plan to address your needs.

THE RISE OF PROTEIN

cognitive function, weight management, and more. Optimally, you should be aiming for about 1 gram of protein per kilogram (2.2 pounds) of body weight. This recommendation has contributed to a boom in protein-rich snacks and beverages. Local providers, like Mother of Macros and Protein Jungle, offer surprising protein-added recipes like smoothies and pastries, and national brands like Starbucks are jumping on the trend with protein milks and cold-foams. For a treat, try the Sugar-Free Vanilla Protein Latte, which boasts 27-29 grams of protein per drink. While it’s important to embrace a protein-heavy meal plan for longevity and wellness, be sure not to neglect a well-balanced diet with plenty of fiber and micronutrients, too.

MICRO-STRENGTH WORKOUTS

Often referred to as “exercise snacks,” short 10–15 minute strength sessions sprinkled throughout the day are gaining momentum. These micro-workouts boost mobility and increase

26

S ELF CA R E | FI TNES S

overall movement without requiring a dedicated 45–90 minute gym session—which in today’s fastpaced world can be difficult to fit in consistently. Research shows that smaller, more frequent bouts of exercise can significantly improve cardiovascular health, support recovery, and make daily movement more accessible and enjoyable.

MOUTH TAPING

Your partner’s open-mouth snoring isn’t just irritating; a new trend suggests it may be contributing to poor sleep quality and bad breath, too. A new trend of taping your mouth closed at night to encourage breathing through the nose is said to improve sleep quality, improve morning breath, and of course, create a quieter sleeping environment. While some folks swear by it, experts urge caution, especially for anyone who experiences difficulty breathing or who has sensitive skin. Be sure to consult a doctor first and use high-quality products if you decide to give it a go.

Drip, Drip, Hooray! All you need to know about IV therapy

Whether you’re bouncing back from the holidays, chasing those new-year wellness goals, or simply trying to shake off seasonal fatigue, IV therapy has become a go-to for many looking for a bodily reset.

BUT WHAT EXACTLY IS IT, AND DOES IT REALLY WORK?

IV (intravenous) therapy directly delivers hydration, vitamins, and micronutrients into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system for faster absorption. What this means is your body gets a higher dose concentration of nutrients, resulting in a quicker, more noticeable boost in how you feel. “IV therapy is appealing because it delivers hydration, vitamins, and micronutrients directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system,” shares Riley Henderson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, nurse practitioner at Ritual Aesthetics & Wellness in Reno. “That means patients can feel the effects more quickly and efficiently than with oral supplements. Whether someone is recovering from illness, training intensely, traveling frequently, or just feeling depleted, IV

therapy offers a rapid and personalized way to replenish what the body is missing.” When it comes to IV therapy, there’s no one-size-fits-all formula. The right blend depends on your unique goals and how you’re feeling at the time of treatment. Ingredients should always be chosen based on symptoms, health history, and lifestyle. For example: • Electrolytes for hydration • Vitamin C and zinc for immune support • B-complex for energy • Glutathione for antioxidant benefits • Amino acids for muscle recovery “It’s also important to receive IV therapy from a qualified medical provider who can screen for contraindications, dose vitamins safely, and ensure proper sterile technique,” she adds. While IV therapy appears to have gained popularity (with around 20 local providers in Reno), it’s not meant to replace healthy habits. “A lot of people assume IV therapy is a ‘cure-all’ or something they should do weekly,” Henderson says. “In reality, it’s most effective when it’s tailored to a

person’s specific needs, labs, and goals — not used as a blanket treatment. It’s a helpful tool, not a replacement for proper nutrition, sleep, and long-term wellness habits.”

SO, HOW DO YOU KNOW WHERE TO START?

Fortunately, local MedSpas and wellness centers offer a variety of treatment options, often with customization based on

individual goals. Prices can vary depending on ingredients and add-ons, and while some medical plans may reimburse treatments prescribed for specific deficiencies, most IV therapy is unfortunately not covered by insurance. If you’re considering trying it, experts recommend doing your research. Be sure to ask about credentials, ingredient sourcing, and safety protocols before booking your session. TRUCKEE OFF

the Slopes ARTICLE BY NORA HESTON TARTE

Truckee is our own little Hallmark town this time of year. With twinkling lights illuminating the main drag and snow-capped mountains to explore, it’s the ideal, close-to-home escape for a weekend away or just a day off the beaten path. Drive into town—it’s less than an hour away—and make the most of your time off. From strolling Donnor Pass Road for shopping and food to adventuring in the Sierra Nevada mountains, you don’t have to be on the slopes to have a good time.

MAKE THE MOST OF A DAY TRIP

Get an early start so you can enjoy your first meal of the day in Truckee. With so many options it’s hard to go wrong, but we have some favorite early morning eats. If you’re a fan of Coffeebar, for example, you can visit their original storefront on Jibboom Street. Truckee is also the site of the first Squeeze In, serving up a full menu of weirdly delicious bites. For a rustic

sit-down experience, Coffee And is the cozy place you’d expect in a small town (complete with adorable mugs). Once you’re fueled, hit the streets. The Historic Downtown Truckee & Visitor Center is on Donner Pass Road, where you’ll find many of the postcard city’s charms. We love meandering aimlessly up and down the road, popping into the shops. Word After Word Books boasts more than literary treasures, including a selection of gift items and a downstairs dedicated to music. And you can always update your wardrobe at Nomad Boutique, Cabona’s, or California 89. Other gems include Cooking Gallery, brimming with cookware and kitchen gadgets, and Tahoe Oil and Spice. For lunch, we’re partial to Bar of America—part of the same restaurant group as Gar Woods and Riva Grill—which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025 by expanding its dining space. The lunch menu is impressive with or without a boozy component, with dishes such as St. Louis Black & Tan Ribs, Cowboy Chili, and Blackened Fish Tacos.

An ideal afternoon can be spent on the Truckee Ice Rink located at Truckee River Regional Park. Skate hand-in-hand under the pines while enjoying music and twinkly lights. On-site, a snack bar and warming hut are perfect reprieves for when your fingers freeze. Truckee River Winery specializes in high-altitude, single vineyard wines in a snowy escape on the Truckee River. Even during the colder

months, the winery is exciting to visit, inviting guests to revel in the wintry bliss. If you want to get active on your visit, book an excursion with Tahoe Adventure Company. The adventure outfitter offers Truckee-specific snowshoeing tours in a variety of themes including Full Moon Snowshoes that double as a history lesson regaling participants with tales of the ill-fated Donner Pass excursion. at night, you’ll want to fuel with dinner first. Donner Creek Brewing and Old Town Tap offer laid-back atmospheres that won’t have anyone giving you side-eye in your snow clothes.

SPEND THE NIGHT

The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe offers a luxurious albeit cozy night away from home. Nestled into the mountainous surroundings, it feels like you’re worlds away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. A quiet evening in includes dinner at Manzanita, a California cuisine restaurant with some Latin flair, followed by s’mores around a private firepit (that can be rented for the evening). Before you head to bed, grab a nightcap in the towering lobby. Appropriately called the Living Room Lodge. The Ritz Carlton, Lake Tahoe is known for its seasonal programming, which means a calendar of events will offer plenty of options for extra entertainment if you need it. Personally, we’re partial to holing up in our room, enjoying a glass of wine fireside while watching the snow fall from the private balcony. And if you booked your accommodations on the fifth floor, you have access to the Club Lounge for free glasses and snacks when it’s open.

Or you can rent a Veuve Clicquot Cabana Chalet, a private, heated après ski experience where Veuve Clicquot champagne and gingerbread hot chocolate are poured while DJs perform live on the weekends, for a full or half day. Every chalet includes its own plush accommodations including fur-lined chairs and seating for up to eight, plus a private firepit. Upgrades such as a caviar and champagne pairing, charcuterie board, cheese or chocolate fondue are available. Active couples may prefer to end their evening with a little competition in the Topgolf Swing Suite, a new addition to the property during its most recent remodel. There are two bays available for group bookings by the hour. Simply check in with the front desk to reserve. Before heading out, visit The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Lake Tahoe. Whether you opt for a day pass to enjoy the indoor hot tub, private (heated) pool and sauna, or want to experience a massage or facial, you won’t regret setting aside a few hours to truly relax and unwind. Of course, the slopes of Northstar are just outside, but even if you aren’t skiing or snowboarding you can still enjoy the great outdoors in The Village with shopping, eats, snow tubing, and a lively ice rink featuring hot beverages and live music on select days.

LEGO Exhibition at The Discovery encourages creativity for all ages Northern Nevada visitors and families have a new reason to explore The Discovery: Brick Masters Studio. This new exhibition is a dynamic, first-of-its-kind showcase built around the creativity of LEGO® bricks, and it’s now open in Reno. “The Discovery is excited to bring this brand new and truly unique exhibition to our community,” says Patrick Turner, chief advancement officer. “The appeal of LEGO is nearly universal, but this exhibition uses LEGO bricks to create engaging learning experiences for people of all ages.” What sets this exhibition apart in Northern Nevada is both its scale and its immersive approach. Created by acclaimed artist Sean Kenney and produced by Imagine Exhibitions, Brick Masters Studio features more than 100 sculptures built from LEGO bricks and includes interactive build stations and galleries that explore the science of shape, color, structure, and design. For locals this is not just another traveling show, it is a major experiential milestone for the region’s cultural calendar. Located at 490 S. Center Street in downtown Reno, The Discovery will host the exhibit through May 8. As one of the few stops on this exhibition’s tour, Northern Nevada residents, and visitors from surrounding areas, have the advantage of a worldclass “builder’s playground” right in their backyard. This is

particularly exciting for families, STEM-enthusiasts, art-lovers, and anyone curious about the ways creativity and science can intertwine in unexpected ways. If you’ve ever seen LEGO bricks simply as toys, prepare to be surprised. Brick Masters Studio invites you to step inside an artist’s workshop, experiment with foundational principles of design, and walk among giant colorful sculptures that transform familiar bricks into something extraordinary. And with its all-ages appeal, it offers a canvas of discovery for children and parents alike. David Funk is one local resident excited about the exhibit opening. "I think it’s important to acknowledge that for many people, this hobby is more than building sets," he says. "For some of us, it’s about easing anxiety. For others, it’s healing or simply finding comfort in something structured, predictable, and safe." In short: make a date to go, bring curious minds and cameras, and dive into an experience that’s equal parts playful and profound. Northern Nevada hasn’t seen anything quite like this, which makes it a must-see. TERRY LEE WELLS NEVADA DISCOVERY MUSEUM 490 S Center St., Reno, NV Nvdm.org

“What is Your Favorite Self Care Habit?” Happy New Year to all! As we embark on 2026 we are making our goal lists, setting up new gym memberships, and creating diet plans after the holiday feasts. With all of our planning sometimes we lose sight of the basics, like self-care. So, we hit the streets to find our what our fellow ‘Renoites’ are making top priority this month.

Megan O'Reilly, Co-Owner, Pitch Black Printing Co. “I have no self-care habits, that is my active goal! Right now, I am spending a little bit of time crafting with my bud, Amber. It's a great way to be creative with no pressure; no client, no rules, just good fun with a good friend.”

Scott Benton, Family Violence Prevention Program Manager with Inter-Tribal Counsel of Nevada “My favorite self-care habit might be cheesy, but it is enjoying watching and supporting my kids. I have three very active kids and knowing that I can be present for them and support their adventures keeps my cup full. I do enjoy reading and listening to autobiographical podcasts that allow me to escape the world of social and human services. Travel is also one of the ways I get to compartmentalize and excel in the work I do.”

Neoma Jardon, Executive Director, Downtown Reno Partnership “My favorite self-care habit is snuggling with my dog, Duke. There is nothing like your sweet dog’s kisses after a long, difficult day. He’s a lap dog so he forces me to sit down, reset, and relax."
