LIFESTYLE LETTER
Style in Full Color September always feels like a fresh start. The calendar may say we have a few weeks of summer, but cooler mornings, back-to-school schedules and routines bring a sense of normalcy. In our house, September means finding missing dance shoes, coordinating calendars and wondering how, despite buying new clothes, my girls have “nothing to wear” to school. That makes this month’s Style Issue fitting. Style extends far beyond fashion. It can be found in the way we dress, decorate our homes, organize our days and prepare meals that bring people together. The best kind of style is not about following trends—it is about discovering what feels authentic, practical and your own. Turn to page 10 for “Finding Your Color,” featuring Laura Tappan, owner of Chic, Fab, and Authentically You. Through color analysis and wardrobe consultations, Tappan helps clients find the shades that complement their natural features and bring new life to pieces they already own. Her approach makes personal style feel less overwhelming and more joyful—and reminds us that the right color can brighten more than an outfit. Once you know your palette, “Moody Hues, Elevated Style” offers plenty of inspiration for putting it to work this fall. On page 14, discover the season’s rich maroons, soft grays, refined knits and playful textures, along with practical ways to update your wardrobe without starting over. A scarf, bold accessory or great layering piece may be all you need. Style is also about creating a life that feels good, which brings me to my recent birthday at SoJo Spa Club. Turn to page 22 for “Robe, Sauna, Repeat,” where I share my day of pools, saunas, good food and plenty of laughs with friends. From the volcanic sand bath to the rooftop views, it was a memorable way to celebrate— and proof that sometimes the best birthday outfit really is a robe. For style in the kitchen, turn to page 26 for “The Culinary Magic of Peaches.” Chef David Burke celebrates one of the season’s sweetest ingredients with a recipe featuring grilled pork chops, peaches, plums and bacon. It is a combination that may inspire a late-summer dinner. We hope this issue encourages you to embrace your own style—whether that means refreshing your closet, stepping outside your comfort zone, trying a new recipe or simply choosing what makes life feel a little more like you. FINDING YOUR COLOR
Laura Tappan
The Magic of Laura Tappan ARTICLE BY CAMRYN FONTANA PHOTOGRAPHY BY JAY PATEL

Have you ever stood in front of your closet unsure where to begin, reaching for familiar pieces when you crave something more expressive? Many of us long to dress in a way that reflects who we are: confident, vibrant and uniquely ourselves.
“Color is the first thing people notice about you!” —Laura Tappan The secret is color theory. Discovering your ideal color palette creates harmony between your clothing and natural features. The right shades can instantly brighten your complexion, make your eyes sparkle and elevate your entire presence, while cutting through decision fatigue to turn getting dressed into a joyful experience. When your wardrobe works with you, confidence follows naturally. Meet Laura Tappan, an experienced strategic image and professional presence consultant and the owner of Chic, Fab, & Authentically You. Tappan specializes in color theory consultations to guide clients toward the perfect palette. She then reviews what is already hanging in their closets to help them evolve their image by restyling beloved pieces and, when needed, shopping for the right new additions. She also shows how to pair favorite comfort pieces with palette hues for a vibrant blend.
Tappan's journey began in August 2020, driven by a deep yearning to express herself more fully through fashion. Her love for helping people feel their best drew her to the intricacies of color theory. She advanced her education at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), became a certified image consultant and color analyst, and now channels her passion into every session. Her work is fueled by what it means for people to wear colors that bring them confidence. Colors like blue, for instance, convey reliability and trustworthiness, helping Tappan tailor her approach to each client’s lifestyle and professional presence. With a background as a personal trainer and pastry chef—two worlds centered on making people feel good—image consulting and being a strategic advisor feels like a natural extension. CONTINUED >

As fashion transitions from summer to fall, Tappan teaches clients that color palettes are seasonless. While some naturally lean toward lighter shades in summer and deeper tones in winter, she emphasizes that colors can be worn year-round when styled thoughtfully. “You have a dark chocolate-brown satin midi skirt, you can wear that in the winter with a sweater, a pair of boots, a nice big suede leather tote bag, and have that in the colder months,” Tappan said. “Come spring and summer, you can wear that same skirt with a short-sleeve sweater and a pair of heels for the office. Accessorizing with a favorite belt and jewelry will make it your own.” By making pieces seasonless, clients build a versatile wardrobe without chasing every trend. Instead, Tappan advises embracing trends playfully through a nail polish, shoe or handbag. A silk scarf, for example, can be tied on a belt loop, wrapped around a handbag handle or used as a headband to instantly liven up a look. A typical color analysis session begins with a 30-minute strategic image consultation, followed by a questionnaire. Then comes an in-home draping process where Tappan assesses undertones, determines warm or cool tones, and identifies the perfect season and subseasons. This foundation leads into a full wardrobe edit, helping clients navigate their closets. If a piece loved in the store no longer feels right at home, Tappan suggests pairing it with other colors in your palette to balance it out. “If you have a favorite sweater that is not in your color palette, you can still wear it,” Tappan said. “A cool undertone will align more with a pure white than with an ivory; however, if you have the most fabulous ivory sweater, perfect. Let’s wear a white button-down underneath it with a collar and some silver jewelry, or a navy blue button-down is also a great option with a cool undertone, so let’s wear that favorite ivory sweater!” Tappan believes there is always a way to make a color work, utilizing a “purge, prize and repurpose” approach to help clients release what no longer serves them and reimagine favorites into fresh looks.

“If you have a favorite sweater that is not in your color palette, you can still wear it... there is always a way to wear a color.” —Laura Tappan One client transformed a rarely worn green floral dress by pairing it with sneakers and a crossbody bag for an effortless everyday look. Another client softened a luxurious white suit jacket with dark denim, a solid tee and white trainers, maintaining his "boss" energy while appearing more approachable for a new role. Tappan encourages sustainable wardrobe updates by shopping your own closet first, challenging clients to create two new outfits each week using their palette. In a world that often
defaults to neutrals and black, Tappan celebrates the power of color because, as she says, "color is the first thing people notice about you!" Her own childhood favorite was carnation bright pink, and it still is. If you are drawn to certain shades, there is a reason. So, what color will you be wearing this week? Moody maroons? For fall? Groundbreaking.
ARTICLE BY CAMRYN FONTANA
Moody Hues, Elevated Style 14
FASH ION F OR WA R D | STYLE + BE AU T Y
Every fall, we watch familiar color palettes make their stylish comeback, and this season is no exception. Summer embraced colors like butter yellow, powder blue and shades of brown. Now is the time for moody favorites like soft grays and rich, dramatic hues to step forward again, with maroon taking center stage. Pared back from the height of chocolate brown, this sultry shade proves why it keeps returning season after season. It looks good on everyone, no matter your color palette. You don't have to go full drama in a headto-toe maroon dress. A pop of color in a nail polish, a maroon lip liner topped with a neutral gloss or a single bold accessory does the trick beautifully. As we transition into fall, brands are shifting from light pastels to stronger, more structured tones: deeper blues, sultry reds, grounded grays and soft cashew milk shades. The Pantone Color Institute included Red Mahogany among its standout colors for fall 2026, highlighting the season's embrace of rich, earthy hues. A cooler Merlot shade offers a similar effect for those drawn to wine-inspired tones. Don't pack away your soft blues from summer just yet. They pair beautifully with maroons and charcoal grays, creating a look that feels both balanced and seasonally fresh. Now that we've covered color, let's talk prints and textures. Building on the love for cheetah and animal prints, we're seeing more tactile pieces come into play. Pony hair is having a major moment (and yes, it's one of my personal favorites). Moving beyond playful Y2K vibes, this lush texture is shining through in handbags, belts and especially boots. Fall footwear brings more coverage and the opportunity to have fun, whether it's furry accents or whimsical designs. Ballet flats let prints and embellishments shine while offering practicality, and creative heels are having their moment too. Let the special touch live in your accessories. CONTINUED >

As we transition into fall, brands are shifting from light pastels to stronger, more structured tones: deeper blues, sultry reds, grounded grays and soft cashew milk shades. Another easy way to play with prints? Colorful bandanas and scarves. Tie one onto a headband, wear it as a neck scarf or knot it onto a handbag handle. They're the perfect way to weave in your personal color palette and instantly elevate simple staples. Speaking to silhouettes, fashion has danced between laidback comfort and structured elegance over the past few years, and now we're seeing the two merge into something sophisticated yet soft. Think elevated separates that offer flexibility throughout your day—pieces that can be easily dressed up or down. Don't feel overwhelmed by pairing pieces together and layering. Instead, think about the versatility and creativity these combinations can bring to your wardrobe. When it comes to essentials, a high-quality tank top is everything this season. Since layering is key for fall, every woman (and man) should have a few reliable basics. Doublelined tanks in shades from white to black slip effortlessly under blazers, sweaters or jackets for the office, errands or a casual night out. Pair that with a dependable skirt. While we loved sexy minis all summer, practical midis and maxis feel right as temperatures drop. You can never go wrong with an easy yet elegant skirt that instantly elevates any look.
16
FASH ION F OR WA R D | STYLE + BE AU T Y
We're also seeing a beautiful evolution in tops and bottoms. Embellished pants—think jeans with delicate embroidery for off-duty days or suit jackets trimmed with lace or rhinestones for the office—let you shine without trying too hard. Knitwear is having a refined comeback too, with more shaped, form-fitting knits replacing overly baggy silhouettes. The key is balance. Pair a tailored top with looser bottoms or a flowing skirt with a structured layer. Layered looks are being embraced for their practicality and effortless versatility this fall. Vogue's pre-fall 2026 coverage emphasized a sense of quiet confidence throughout the collections, highlighting rich textures, refined proportions and sophisticated styling over statement-making looks. The overall message was clear: Build a wardrobe around versatile, wearable staples that speak for themselves, then personalize them with thoughtful accessories, pops of color and trend-forward textures. Fashion right now is all about ease, elegance and expressing yourself without starting over. So go ahead and embrace that rich maroon lip, that pony hair bag or that perfectly layered knit. Fall is inviting us to play with what we already love, only better.

Tiziano Iannitelli
SMART HOME SYSTEMS BLENDS TECHNOLOGY, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN FOR MODERN LIVING.
Style is often defined by what we see—the architectural details, carefully chosen finishes and thoughtfully designed spaces that make a house feel like home. But according to Tiziano Iannitelli, some of the most impactful design elements are the ones homeowners never notice at all. As founder and president of Smart Home Systems, Iannitelli brings nearly three decades of experience designing and integrating luxury home technology systems. His goal isn't simply to install smart home features. It's to ensure technology enhances a home's beauty, functionality and lifestyle without disrupting its design. "A well-designed smart home should feel effortless," Iannitelli says. "The technology should work in the background." That philosophy stems from his own professional journey. Before entering the home automation industry, Iannitelli studied architecture and worked as an AutoCAD designer, creating technical drawings for architects. The experience gave him a deep appreciation for thoughtful design and the countless details that contribute to a well-executed home. His career eventually led him into the audio-video industry, where he discovered a natural connection between technology and architecture. "I was fascinated by high-end homes and the craftsmanship that went into them," he says. "I realized technology could complement great design rather than compete with it." After spending more than 17 years with one of New York City's premier home integration firms, where he rose to vice president of operations, Iannitelli founded Smart Home Systems in 2020 to bring the same level of expertise, craftsmanship and personalized service to homeowners throughout New Jersey, New York and South Florida. Today, Smart Home Systems specializes in customized technology solutions that include lighting control, motorized shades, whole-home audio, security systems, climate control and AI-powered automation. 19
But for Iannitelli, every project begins with a simple question: How does the homeowner live? Rather than pushing predetermined packages or products, he takes time to understand a family's routines, priorities and lifestyle. From there, he develops a tailored plan designed to improve convenience while maintaining the home's architectural integrity. His architectural background continues to shape every recommendation. "I'm always thinking about how we can eliminate visual clutter," he says. Traditional walls lined with multiple light switches can often be replaced by elegant smart keypads. Thermostats can be hidden from view. Speakers can disappear entirely behind finished walls and ceilings, delivering high-quality sound without interrupting a room's design. The result is technology that feels integrated rather than intrusive. That same philosophy extends to the way Smart Home Systems collaborates with architects, builders, interior designers and landscape architects. By becoming involved early in the design process, the team helps ensure technology supports the architectural vision rather than competing with it, creating cleaner, more seamless solutions from the very beginning. That attention to detail extends beyond design. Iannitelli has built a company culture centered on professionalism and respect. Every technician is trained not only on technical systems but also on how to work carefully within finished homes. Protective boot covers, drop cloths and meticulous workmanship are standard on every project. "We're guests in someone's home," he says. "We treat every property with respect." That same commitment has earned Smart Home Systems recognition as an HTA Luxury Certified integration firm, reflecting the company's dedication to industry best practices, thoughtful system design and long-term client service. Just as importantly, Iannitelli believes the company's reputation has been built on being a trusted project partner. Architects, builders and designers know they can rely on Smart Home Systems to communicate proactively, coordinate closely with every trade and anticipate challenges before they become problems. By taking ownership of the technology scope, the team allows project partners to focus on the bigger picture with confidence. As smart home technology continues evolving, Iannitelli is particularly excited about the role artificial intelligence will play in creating more intuitive living environments. Voice-controlled systems can now understand natural conversation, while advanced automation allows homes to respond seamlessly to daily routines. He also sees growing interest in wellness-focused technology, including lighting systems that mimic natural daylight patterns and adjust throughout the day to create a more comfortable environment. For Iannitelli, however, technology is never the destination. It's simply a tool. The true goal is creating homes that feel beautiful, functional and uniquely tailored to the people who live in them. At Smart Home Systems, style isn't just about what homeowners see. It's about creating an experience they can feel every day. ROBE, SAUNA, Our publisher and her friends before trying SoJo’s volcanic sand bath.
R E P E AT Some birthdays call for dinner out. Some call for cake. This year, mine called for a robe, a sauna and a full day at SoJo Spa Club. I have never needed much convincing to spend a day with friends, so when someone suggested celebrating my birthday at SoJo, the answer was an immediate yes. I had always been curious about the Edgewater spa but had never quite made my way over, which made it feel like the perfect excuse to go.
22
S PA DAY | LO CAL SERVI CE S
We arrived at 10 a.m., and it was clear we were not the only ones with this idea. The spa was already in full swing, with guests moving between pools, lounges and saunas. Located along the Hudson River, SoJo is a multi-level spa that feels part Korean bathhouse, part wellness retreat and part “why have I not done this sooner?” The facility includes pools, baths, saunas, lounges, a Food Hall, spa services, a gym, co-working space and an attached hotel. We started by exploring, the only way to begin at SoJo. During the warmer months, the rooftop infinity pool is one of the showstoppers, with panoramic views that stretch from the George Washington Bridge down toward the city. We also made our way through the hydrotherapy pool, Hinoki bath, silk bath, carbon-rich bath and waterfall area, each with its own reset. The highlight of the day, without question, was the volcanic sand bath. This is not like when your kids bury you at the beach and you regret agreeing to it. It is warm, intentional and calming once you get past the thought of, “Wait, am I really doing this?” SoJo is the only spa in the U.S. with volcanic sand imported from Ibusuki, Japan, and the treatment is meant to help the body relax and ease tension. Once I got past the idea of being covered in sand on purpose, I understood why people book it. I was unsure at first, but glad I tried it! We also made it our mission to try every sauna: the far-infrared sauna, red clay sauna, dry sauna, white clay sauna, Himalayan salt sauna, charcoal sauna, ganbanyoku room and steam room. After all that heat, we finished with the ice room. I am not usually one for cold plunges or anything that requires voluntarily freezing, but this felt bearable and good after all that sweating. I even lost four pounds. I know it was water weight, but still—I’ll take it wherever I can get it. CONTINUED >

Our publisher takes in the pools and views at SoJo Spa Club.
Of course, no spa day is complete without food. We had lunch in the Food Hall, and I ordered a tuna poke bowl, which was right up my alley: fresh, healthy and exactly what I wanted between rounds of lounging, soaking and sauna-hopping. Later, we grabbed a snack outside, and I had a coconut ice pop that may have been my favorite ice pop ever. It had actual chunks of coconut in it and was cold, creamy and so good that I am still thinking about it. Two things I did not take advantage of, but absolutely would in the future, were the coworking space and the gym. The coworking area has desks, phone booths, Wi-Fi and even a conference room, so you could answer a few emails, take a call and head right back to a pool. The fitness center has cardio machines, free weights and stretching tools, plus a yoga studio, making it easy to turn the day into whatever you need it to be: relaxing, productive, active or all of the above. For anyone looking to turn the day into more of a getaway, SoJo is also attached to a hotel with 22 rooms, including four suites. After a full day of moving between saunas, baths, lounges and good food, the idea of heading upstairs instead of heading home makes a lot of sense—especially for a birthday weekend, girls’ getaway or quick reset close to home. For me, it was the perfect birthday plan: a full day with friends, beautiful views, good food and plenty of time to unwind. And honestly, 44 felt pretty great from a robe and sauna. T H E CU L I NA RY M AGIC OF PE ACH E S Chef David Burke brings a playful, modern twist to the smoky magic of peaches
One of my favorite things about this time of year is the abundance of peaches, which are at their prime from July through September. At their peak, their flavor, texture and aroma create a sensory experience, while their balance of sweetness and acidity
brings any dish to life. Bottom line: Peaches have a magic all their own. Peaches have an origin story that stretches back to China more than 4,000 years ago. They journeyed west on the Silk Road to Persia and then on to the

Mediterranean world. There, they were embraced by the Romans who planted peach orchards across their empire, helping the fruit take root in Europe. By the Middle Ages, peaches were well established in Europe. It was Spanish explorers who introduced peaches to the Americas in the 16th century. Indigenous peoples quickly adopted and cultivated them, integrating peaches into their agricultural traditions long before widespread European settlement. Two centuries later, peaches were thriving across the United States, becoming especially associated with the South. Georgia made the peach its state symbol, although South Carolina’s annual peach production is often larger. Today, peaches are grown worldwide—from China (still the largest producer) to Italy, Spain, Turkey and the United States. The standout aspect of peaches is the contrast they embody: firm yet yielding, sweet yet tart, floral yet earthy. That’s what makes them so versatile in the kitchen, playing nicely with savory and sweet ingredients. When raw, peaches resonate with freshness and perfume. When cooked, they deepen, caramelize, and develop a richer, almost honeyed complexity. Their high water content means they break down nicely in heat, creating natural sauces and syrups without much intervention. The following recipe showcases all the characteristics of cooked peaches. Swordfish steaks can be substituted for the pork chops.

GRILLED PORK CHOPS WITH PE ACHE S, PLUMS AND BACON
Ingredients: • • • • • • • • • • •
2 pork chops 1/2 cup shallots, slivered 1 peach, cored and thickly sliced 1 plum, cored and thickly sliced 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup honey 2 tbsp. barbecue sauce 4 slices bacon, cooked and roughly chopped 1/2 cup scallions, roughly chopped 1/2 cup butter Sea salt
Directions:
After patting dry, season the pork chops with olive oil and salt and pepper, to taste. On a grill or in a grill pan over medium-high heat, sear for 5 minutes on each side, until the internal temperature reaches 125 degrees for medium and 155 degrees for well-done. Meanwhile, in a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat 4 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the peaches, plums, honey and butter for 5 minutes undisturbed to caramelize the fruit. Then flip the fruit and add the shallots. Sauté for another 3 to 5 minutes until the shallots are just taking on some color and the fruit has caramelized on the other side. Add the scallions and bacon last and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well. Bring to a simmer. Place the pork chops in the center of the plates. Arrange the peaches and plums attractively around the pork. Serve immediately with warmed firecracker peach sauce, which is great with grilled shrimp, too.

FINDING JOY IN THE DETAILS
Style isn't always about what you add to a home. Sometimes it's about removing the frustrations that have been hiding in plain sight for years. For Sharron Chang, owner of Art of Drawers New Jersey, style and functionality go hand in hand. A beautifully designed kitchen should do more than look good. It should make everyday life easier, more organized and more enjoyable. "It's really about solving a problem," Chang says. "A lot of homeowners are living with frustrations they deal with every single day, and they don't realize there's a solution." Before launching Art of Drawers two years ago, Chang spent more than 15 years in the corporate finance world. Her career path, however, has never been a straight line. She studied journalism in college before pivoting into finance and eventually entrepreneurship.

ART OF DRAWERS BRINGS STYLE, FUNCTION AND ORGANIZATION TOGETHER BEAUTIFULLY.
"I've pivoted a few times in my life," she says with a laugh. "Art of Drawers is one of those pivots." The move into home improvement wasn't accidental. After earning her business degree and exploring numerous entrepreneurial opportunities, from startup concepts to franchise models, Chang spent nearly a year researching potential businesses. She evaluated more than a dozen opportunities before discovering Art of Drawers. What stood out wasn't simply the business model. It was the impact. "I felt like it was solving a real problem," she says. "People don't always want to spend the time, money and stress that comes with a full kitchen remodel, but they're still frustrated with how their space functions." Many homeowners contact Art of Drawers after years of struggling with difficult-to-reach cabinets, cluttered storage areas or kitchens that simply no longer work for their lifestyle. "People tell us, 'This has been bothering me for years,'" she says. "Every time they open a cabinet or corner space, they get frustrated. They're looking for a better solution." Art of Drawers specializes in custom pull-out drawers, cabinet refacing and organizational solutions designed to improve
accessibility and maximize storage without requiring a complete renovation. For a Style issue, it's easy to focus on aesthetics. But Chang believes style starts with understanding how people actually live. "Everyone uses their kitchen differently," she says. That's why every project begins with an in-home design consultation, often lasting 90 minutes or longer. Rather than immediately discussing products, samples or pricing, Chang and her team spend much of that time learning about the homeowner. They open cabinets. They ask questions. They learn exactly how each family functions. "It's really about understanding their habits and their lifestyle," Chang says. "Once we understand how they use the space, we can create a solution that works specifically for them." That personalized approach reflects the company's philosophy that style and function should never compete. Art of Drawers creates solid wood products designed to blend seamlessly with existing cabinetry while elevating both the appearance and performance of the space. "We focus on the feel, the touch and the look of the product," Chang says. "We want it to match the home beautifully while providing a better experience." The result is often far more impactful than homeowners expect. While the company is known for transforming kitchens and pantries, Chang says the emotional transformation can be just as significant as the physical one. "The feeling we want homeowners to have is joy and relief," she says. Relief from digging through crowded cabinets. Relief from bending, reaching and searching for items hidden in the back. Relief from duplicate purchases because something couldn't be found when it was needed. For many homeowners, organization creates something even more valuable: peace of mind. CONTINUED >

"It's decluttering," Chang says. "It's knowing where everything is. It's having more space and easier access." One growing trend she's seeing involves homeowners planning to age in place. Rather than waiting until accessibility becomes a challenge, many are proactively upgrading their kitchens with pull-out storage systems designed to make daily tasks easier for years to come. At the same time, others are choosing cabinet refacing as a practical alternative to a full renovation. Instead of spending months and significant expense gutting a kitchen, homeowners can achieve a refreshed look and improved functionality in less than a week. "It's efficient, it's convenient and it saves a substantial amount compared to remodeling," Chang says. As a woman business owner in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Chang has embraced the opportunities and challenges that come with entrepreneurship. Her diverse professional background, combined with a passion for helping homeowners create

beautiful, functional spaces, has shaped the thoughtful, personalized approach she brings to every project. What she enjoys most isn't the cabinetry itself. It's the people. "I really enjoy talking with homeowners," she says. "They have a real issue, and I'm there to help them." That commitment to service remains central to her vision for the future. As Art of Drawers continues to grow throughout New Jersey, Chang hopes to build a team of designers who share the same passion for improving people's lives. "I want people who genuinely care about helping homeowners," she says. "That's the most important thing." Because at the end of the day, the company's work isn't really about drawers, cabinets or organization. It's about helping people fall in love with their homes again, one beautifully designed space at a time. Ready to transform your kitchen without a full renovation?
