I still feel so many different emotions as I write this letter to all of my readers, partners, advocates, and friends. Last month I expressed my gratitude and this month I write to you all with the message of blooming as all things do in springtime, welcoming new partners and making new connections in the center of a large city of which Preston Hollow is the chic and classy beating heart.  It is a privilege to connect people and businesses as well as engage newcomers to this special corner of Texas we call home.  Preston Hollow City Lifestyle thanks you our readers and partners for helping us bloom and grow into your home and heart.

THE GENESIS OF THE INTERIOR

Mark Lafferty, founder and owner of The Interior, discovered his love of design early on during his education at the University of Philadelphia, known for its outstanding textile program. His career, which involved supplying textiles to apparel brands, took him all over the world, from Los Angeles and New York to as far as Hong Kong and Taipei. As Mark’s career evolved, he started becoming drawn to home textiles and home furnishings, and soon he was thinking of how he could pivot to dive deeper into those interests.

AVOCADO MARGARITA

Ingredients:

• Lime wedge for rimming the glass

• Tajín Clásico Seasoning to taste for rimming the glass

• 3 tablespoons avocado, muddled to a smooth puree

• 3/4 ounce of fresh pineapple juice

• 1 ounce syrup

• 3/4 ounce Cointreau triple sec

• 1 1/2 ounce Herradura tequila

Directions:

Rub the rim of a 12-ounce cocktail glass with the cut side of a lime wedge to moisten. Pour Tajín seasoning onto a saucer. Roll the rim of the glass in the Tajín seasoning. Fill glass with ice.

In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, combine avocado puree, pineapple juice, lime juice, simple syrup, triple sec and tequila. Fill shaker or glass with ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain the liquid into the prepared cocktail glass. Garnish with pineapple wedge on the rim. Enjoy! Preferably poolside on a sunny day.

BARKING for BONES

Launched in Spring 2022, The Barking Project was established to save the lives of dogs facing euthanasia in Texas shelters due to overcrowding. Inspired to make a difference, friends with a shared passion for animal rescue created a large-scale adoption event uniting rescues from all over Texas and raising awareness. We partner with animal rescues who are saving shelter dogs from euthanasia and finding them loving homes. All proceeds raised from The Barking Project are distributed among the participating rescues to further their mission and impact.

The continued success and reach of The Barking Project Adoption Event fuel our unwavering commitment to further the cause. We stand united, barking for change, one wagging tail at a time.

President Emily Hoffman is hopeful to make this year's event even more successful than the previous two years.  In 2022, the inaugural event benefitted eight local rescues with over 100 dogs in attendance.  In 2023, the numbers surged with over $20,000 raised for 22 participating local rescue groups and hosted over 200 furry friends.  This year's event should shatter the previous two years as this wonderful organization continues to grow and support all dogs that need good homes.

This year’s third annual adoption event will be held Saturday, April 20th from 11am -4 pm at Mutts Cantina in Uptown.  Participating sponsors this year include, Uptown Dallas Inc., Hart Commercial, Readivet, West Village, Dallasites 101, Hollywood Feed, and Barking Hound Village.  Come enjoy the fun and bring the kids, 2 legged ones and 4 legged ones!

responsibilities tied to property management, the uncertainties of market fluctuations and other associated costs must not be ignored.

The backbone of many retirement plans, Social Security Income, provides a safety net for millions. Established with the intent of financial assistance, the amount one receives depends on various factors. There are also strategies retirees can employ to maximize these benefits, such as deciding on the optimal time to claim or considering the implications of working while receiving benefits.
