These daydreams are reality at the Hotel Three Sixty in Costa Rica. The boutique, five-star hotel derives its name from its 360-degree panoramic view of nearby Pacific beaches, mountains and the Osa Peninsula. Owner Trevor Ling, originally from England, worked as a wealth management specialist for 30
years before turning his focus to the world of hospitality. After moving to Costa Rica, he opened Hotel Three Sixty in 2017 with investor friends. He and his team are especially proud of the hotel’s dedication to environmental sustainability. Guests can see evidence of this everywhere—from the organic or locally-sourced food served in the hotel to ecological cleaning products and organic amenities offered in the rooms.
One of the many standout features of the property is its friendly and accommodating staff. From the hotel manager to its chef, servers and cart drivers, a genuine and sincere effort to care for guests is always evident.
The staff is also happy to make recommendations and help arrange for special tours to nearby destinations.

One such memorable expedition is the Nauyaca Waterfall Tour. A 4X4 takes groups to two of the region’s spectacular waterfalls, one can be viewed at a distance while the other allows visitors to watch daredevils dive off ledges into the pool below or splash into the surrounding water to cool off.
Another not-to-be-missed excursion is the immersive boat tour exploring the Costa Rican mangroves and its varied residents. Guests can expect to see countless monkeys frolicking and sometimes sleeping among the tropical plants where they live and play, and if you’re lucky a long-distance sighting of a boa constrictor. According to the boat guide Vilmar Lopez, more than 375 types of birds reside there. As for dining facilities, the food at the hotel’s Kua Kua restaurant is filling and plentiful and the nearby bar serves up wonderful tropical drinks as well (don’t miss the frozen banana daiquiri). Close to the hotel are several outstanding local restaurants such as Fuego, a popular local brewery which offers quality craft beer, Citrus, a well-known dining spot in the area with offerings from Asia, and the Middle East and even France. Heliconia is also a crowd-pleaser, offering up authentic Costa Rican cuisine.
On-site offerings dedicated to self-care include a yoga deck, a gym, and an easy-to-hike nature trail. Not to be missed, however, is the Jungle Spa which offers massages, wraps/scrubs, facials, and many other services. I can tell you from experience that masseuse Shirley Rodriguez’s shoulder and back massages are one of a kind.

Decorate your bikes, scooters, wagons, strollers, or anything on wheels. Roll over to St. Paul Park by 9:45am to participate in the bike parade. Follow the KVFD Fire Truck through the streets of town from 10am – 11am.
3. Create Your Own Craft Beverage Tour
Sip and savor your way around farm-chic tasting rooms and sophisticated urban wineries. Grab a pint on a working horse farm or hit a few breweries along the red line metro. Try out local hard cider or sample craft spirits at the county’s first and only distillery. Plan your stops for a personalized craft beverage tour along the Tastemakers Trail.

5. Check out Montgomery County Recreation’s Fireworks
Mid-County Sparkles will begin at 6:00 pm on Saturday, July 1 with music by Ocho de Bastos and the Earth, Wind, and Fire Tribute Band. The fireworks display will begin at approximately 9:15 pm. Located at Albert Einstein High School. Shuttle services are available starting at 5:30 pm from the Westfield Wheaton Mall.
Everglades of the North
Nearly 50 square miles of forests, fields, marshes, and open water await at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Its shady reaches are alive with the sights and sounds of waterfowl, bald eagles, and ospreys. Trails are color-coded by skill level so you can choose the best route for your group. Outfitters like Blackwater Adventures offer equipment rentals along with guided tours.

Test your paddling skills with Class IV and V white-water adventures on the breathtaking Youghiogheny Scenic and Wild River. This extremely challenging 21-mile stretch of river flows through forests and wilderness, with public access points at Swallow Falls State Park and off Sang Run Road. Local outfitters offer rentals and guide services. River guides are highly recommended.
The swift and storied waters of the Potomac River shaped our nation, and boating on it remains an unparalleled way to experience the excitement of American history. One of Maryland’s longest rivers, the Potomac offers 300 miles of pristine paddling. With plenty of camping and lodging along the way, the river is perfect for single- and multi-day trips. around after you drop anchor.
The award-winning, beautiful Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) trail stretches 159 miles from Cumberland to Pittsburgh. The terrain is mostly flat and smooth and takes you through a series of tunnels, viaducts and bridges. As you wind through the Appalachian Mountains, you’ll find plenty of charming small towns that roll out the welcome mat for cyclists.
5. Hike Through History
The C&O Canal is a beautiful transportation artifact of 20th-century engineering. Now, it’s a beloved route for thru-hikers and bikers as well as day trippers. It’s also a hub for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, bird-watching and even old-fashioned, mule-drawn barge rides. At the heart of this remarkable trail is the C&O Canal National Historical Park with its 74 unique lift locks and the 184.5-mile C&O Canal Towpath.

“As a teenager, I had terrible menstrual cramps,” says Sateria Venable, founder of the Fibroid Foundation. “I dealt with it, as I think so many women do, but it became too much.” Venable’s story is one so many women can relate to. A fibroid diagnosis in her 20’s was the first puzzle piece to figuring out why she suffered every month – but her story was far from over. Her journey to healing was filled with multiple surgeries, diet changes, and searching for resources that could help. “I had difficulty finding a really skilled fibroid specialist in Chicago,” says Venable. “So, I decided to start the Fibroid Foundation.”
The organization, based in Rockville, just celebrated their 10th anniversary in September. Over the last 10 years, Venable has educated thousands of women on fibroids, creating 27 chapters of the organization, both in the U.S. and abroad.
“It’s mind blowing to me that my journey could translate into an organization that resonates with so many women and their families,” she says.
“We try to keep our community updated on emerging treatment options through our Fibroid Summit, which we host every September,” Venable says of the foundation’s focus on education. “It has about 2,500 virtual viewers, both clinicians and patients.” Most recently, Venable and others from the organization hosted their first congressional briefing on Capitol Hill to declare May as Menstrual Health Awareness Month. It’s all in an effort to solve what Venable calls the “fibroid puzzle.” “I’ve been an advocate since 2007, and I have seen the conversation on menstruation open up drastically,” she says. “I look forward to seeing that continue.”
