METRO HAS ELIMINATED SATURDAY PARKING FEES Good news: Metro riders will be able to park in station lots for free on Saturdays. WMATA said it will eliminate Saturday parking fees for customers with the exception of specific regional or special events, such as the Fourth of July and presidential inaugurations. Those who park at a Metro facility but do not use the Metrorail system will be charged a higher "non-rider fee" at certain stations. The fee ranges from $8.70 to $10, Metro said. This policy will affect the following stations: Greenbelt, Suitland, Branch Avenue, Huntington, Dunn Loring, Minnesota Avenue, New Carrollton, Largo Town Center, Franconia-Springfield, Rhode Island Avenue, Twinbrook, White Flint and Rockville. In addition, Metro said it is planning to unveil new payment technology options, such as online reservation systems or mobile applications.

HOW HEALTHY MARYLAND REALLY IS VIA NEW RANKINGS Maryland is the 19th healthiest state in America, according to the 29th annual report from the United Health Foundation. The report, "America's Health Rankings," looks at 35 health markers that seek to evaluate how healthy a state really is. This includes indicators involving behaviors, community and environment, policy, clinical care and health outcomes. Maryland performed best in behaviors and worst in health outcomes.
