FOR A NEW POSITION AS MOM AND CEO OF THE HOUSE. A job, I discovered, that came with hundreds of glorified subtitles including chef, tutor, nurse, laundress, chauffeur, coach, handy woman, travel agent, and logistics manager, just to name a few. I was feeling more disorganized and inefficient than ever. And I wasn’t alone.

I chatted with my college bestie, Tess Dean, and we “conferenced” with every busy woman we knew. The playground became our customer discovery. We all needed the best

referrals and we needed them before the carpool line moved another inch. What if all the contacts that run our busy lives were a swipe away? What if we could STORE, SEARCH, and SHARE contacts for the best contractors, doctors and babysitters in one organized location? The idea for STASH app was born. A place where you can store, search and share contact cards in a simple, icon-based solution. STASH is partially headquartered at my kitchen island in Sandy Springs, sharing space with a school classroom and law firm these days. even more than when we moved here three years ago. The hilly terrain is the new family cardio. We are now obsessed with takeout from Erwan Organic Thai and pick-up at Cubanos ATL. We were giddy to learn that The Springs movie theater turned drive-in and when restaurants reopened, one of our first date nights was at The Select. What else do I love in Sandy Springs? From doctors and dog groomers to roofers and flower shops, it’s all in my STASH just waiting to be shared with you. STASH is in final testing mode with busy CEOs of the house around Atlanta. In a matter of months, it will roll out to everyone wanting to STORE, SEARCH, and SHARE the best contacts. Can’t wait? JENNIFER BARLAMENT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ATLANTA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA For me, it comes down to three P’s: purpose, passion and path. First, be clear about your purpose. You will be spending literally your life—or at least most of your waking hours over many years—working, and your life is priceless, so make your career something that will be fulfilling, joyful and meaningful. Second, follow your passion. While I was in college, I was headed for a career that made logical sense, but my heart was in music. Once I gave myself permission to pursue my passion, I’ve never looked back. When you’re passionate about your work, you will work hard, have fun and be successful. Third, be open to where the path may lead. It’s only in retrospect that my path has become clear—how decisions and opportunities have added up to where and who I am now. One last thing: BE BOLD and shoot for the top!

WORDS OF WISDOM FROM WOMEN IN THE ARTS

Be Bold, Trust Yourself

N ATA L I E D E L A N C E Y MANAGING DIRECTOR, CITY SPRINGS THEATRE COMPANY Dear Future Women Arts Leaders, While all of our paths to a career in the arts may look different, our reasoning and purpose is usually similar: Passion. Creativity. Talent. Connection. I believe any career in the arts demands strength, hard work, and vision. In my experience, I would offer you this advice: 1) Know your purpose and what you hope to achieve. 2) Think big and never underestimate your capabilities. 3) Enjoy every moment. There will be challenges. Success may not come easily but, it will be worth it when it does! In my role as Managing Director at City Springs Theatre Company, I have the pleasure of overseeing the fundraising, operations, and finances of a 3-year-old organization that is bold, professional, and focused on serving the greater Atlanta community through Broadway mainstage musicals and high-quality arts education training. Keep dreaming, working hard, and connecting with likeminded people. Break a leg!

In my current role as CFO, I am responsible for ensuring that the Museum operates annually within budget, as well as overseeing administration activities. I am also the “Founding Mother” of our nationally recognized annual David C. Driskell Prize. It is a privilege and honor to work in the Museum Field. If Champagne is more your speed, don’t miss Veuve Happy Hour. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., clink glasses with bubbles on special for $15 per glass or $75 per bottle. Round out the resort experience with a tee time. Mountain Shadows boasts one of the only 18-hole, par-3 courses in Arizona. The Short Course has an emphasis on fun for the casual golfer as well as the serious player, featuring dramatic views of iconic Camelback Mountain. The course is playable in under three hours, leaving time for beers and bites at Rusty’s (or poolside lounging).
