LIFESTYLE LETTER

The Women’s Issue

May 2022 PUBLISHER

Justin Padilla | justin.padilla@citylifestyle.com EDITOR IAL COOR DINATOR

Joanna Sanchez | joanna.sanchez@citylifestyle.com

Our May issue is dedicated to celebrating the women in our lives. As I reflect on the many women in my life, I am thankful for each one and the impact they have made. One of the best qualities a woman can possess is having confidence with oneself, but at the same time being able to see the beauty and talent in other women and call out greatness in them, too. Women celebrating women and encouraging each other to succeed rather than competing with each other is so beautiful and rewarding. Encouraging and empowering the people in our own life can be something that comes naturally to do, but the impact of intentionally looking for ways to build up those in our greater community is so powerful. We all want to be seen, and when we share encouragement and consideration to those around us, barriers break down and warmth follows. In this month’s issue we are sharing stories of women who have made their mark in our community in one way or another. We are also recognizing a few local entrepreneurs and women who are finding ways to give back to our community that have left me inspired. In a world that thrives on competition, let’s take time to encourage each other, appreciate the beauty in everyone and lift each other up, perhaps even a stranger. I also encourage you to take time to reflect on the inspirational women in your own life and reach out to them to thank them for their impact on your life. You won’t regret it.

Do you think you need to sell your current home before you can buy your next one?

FACT or MYTH

There is nowhere for me to move. I will be homeless if I sell my home.

Consider It Done

Homes are being listed and sold daily, but today's market requires innovative and attractive terms for the seller, as well as, ready, decisive buyers.

FACT or MYTH

I will not be able to buy a new home until I sell my current home.

The D-One Realty Team has had great success at negotiating contracts with a contingency, but there is also a way to make a CASH offer on a home. Not only that, but it is possible to buy your next home with NO CONTINGENCIES even if you have not sold your current home.

10311 Palmour Pass Missouri City, TX 77459

These homeowners purchased their dream home with a contingency on this home. It went under contract in SIX days well over list price.

The owners of this home went under contract for their new home contingent on this home selling. This home received a full price offer day one of showing.

Community First ER is a locally owned and operated emergency room servicing Pearland, Deer Park, and surrounding areas. Dr. Radheshyam Miryala, who prefers to be called Dr. Rad, is the Medical Director and the brain behind the company that pledges to provide first class care through personalized attention, comfortability, and state of the art facilities. In order to increase the impact of the industry-leading patient experience that Community First ER is known for, Dr. Rad knew he had to increase awareness of the services his healthcare organization offers. With this mission in mind, Dr. Rad assembled a super squad of heroine heralds tasked with touting the capabilities of Community First ER. These mavens of marketing combine their strengths and put their trust in each other to get the job done. Marketing Manager Jennifer Almaguer has been a powerhouse promoter of the organization for over three years and oversaw the expansion of the urgent care facility in Deer Park. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs helped her understand the discipline and self-commitment needed to keep a business thriving. “With the love of my family, my hard work, consistency, and dedication, I put myself through graduate school.” Utilizing her advanced degree, Jennifer assists in recruiting healthcare workers for the two locations, coordinates community events, and develops advertisements and marketing ideas for Community First ER. The client-facing duties of the business development unit fall to Amanda DeAlejandro, the confident conversationalist who lobbies physicians' offices and urgent care centers for patient referrals. She also helps host public healthcare workshop, chamber events, fundraisers, and healthcare networking events at their facilities. Her deft interpersonal skills and welcoming personality are greatly admired by her teammates. Amanda’s involvement with other local organizations such as the Houston Rodeo committee, Navidad en el Barrio, Project Hope and Joy, and the Deer Park Rotary has helped to build her prominence in the community and to strengthen her public speaking and event hosting skills. With fresh ideas in communication and technology, Tess Hammock the thorough techie also in the business development side has been diligently leveling up Community First ER’s digital presence. Very detailed and task oriented she has been working behind the scenes ordering promotional items, for the company, and the advertisements to provide a fresh approach that keeps it modern. Having grown up volunteering and fundraising with her family and church Tess’s genuine nature has accepted her leadership role humbly viewing it as a rare opportunity to grow as an individual as well as making a difference in her neighbors’ lives. The trio are united bouncing strategies and challenges off each other during presentations with ease as if they were born for it, a dynamic that is few and far between. “We all know where our strengths are so we use that to function more efficiently as a team.” says Tess. Community First ER hires people who they believe will treat patients like family but when seeing these ladies in action everyone is treated like family.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE FOR WOMEN STARTING THEIR CAREER PATH IN PUBLIC RELATIONS? Networking is so important! It can be intimidating, but just be yourself and make a goal for yourself (ex: I want to talk to x amount of people today). If you’re not feeling confident, plan out a couple talking points and wear an outfit you feel great in. - Tess

IS THERE A WOMAN WHO YOU HAVE RECEIVED PROFESSIONAL INSPIRATION FROM, IF SO TELL US A LITTLE. Yes, Melinda Torrison, CEO of Meador Staffing. She is an inspiration to me. She is a dedicated leader in her community, she is centered and anchored in her faith, and has some of the most robust and positive energy I have ever been around. What I love most about her is her kind heart. You can tell all her decisions are heart centered and admire how successful she has been leading her staffing company. -Jennifer

HOW DO YOU FEEL YOUR INDIVIDUAL STRENGTHS COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER? Gosh, where do I begin with this question. We each have our very own strengths, I'm good at talking to people, I can become

18

G IV IN G BAC K | LOCA L SERVI CE S

friends with a brick wall. Tess is amazing at everything technology, organization and task oriented. Jen is great at all the behind-the-scenes marketing ideas. When I need help with any computer stuff, I know without a doubt those two can do it in 5 seconds compared to me sitting for an hour figuring something out. Whereas if we need help meeting someone new or going to talk to a new doctor's office, urgent care or anyone new, I'll be the girl. And when we're doing business that way it just makes our jobs so much easier because we know someone can help with that one challenge you may have. -Amanda

WHAT MAKES COMMUNITY FIRST ER DIFFERENT? Community First ER truly stands behind its name, Community First. We love to give back to our community in various ways. You’ll see us at chamber events, fundraisers, volunteering, hosting our own events, and more. We truly want the community to know that we are there to serve them and give back to them. We want to take care of our community when there is an emergency and even when there isn’t. We strive to be a wellknown name in our community and for people to know they can rely on us.

D O R I S M E T R O P O L I T A N WHERE FOOD IS AN ART TO BE SAVORED

Elegant ambiance, superb service, and divine food will keep you coming back for more. Doris Metropolitan has the art of steaks down to a T. The gorgeous restaurant located in Houston, New Orleans, and Costa Rica presents delectable dishes which are Israeli inspired. Try the Regiis Ova Royal Caviar spread with a wildly delicious in-house dipping bread. Pick from a sophisticated menu with oneof-a-kind high-quality meats such as a steak board that includes a Moroccan

filet, a classified cut (rib cap), and “shpondra” short ribs that fall off the bone. If that wasn’t enough to compliment the cuts is an extensive wine list that may leave any wine connoisseur undecided. When it comes to cocktails the signature G&T is a customer favorite, while the Rare Cask old fashioned and 34oz. Porter house is perfect to share for a date night. If needing to impress at home, Doris meats are available in their butcher shop as well for fresh purchase.

Dear Younger Me

ARTICLE BY JOANNA SANCHEZ PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY WRITERS

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO YOUNGER YOU IF YOU COULD

Dear Young Christy, Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up! There will never be another time in your life where you are as free to pursue your dreams! As your family expands, time to devote to your own interests, and desires will come less easily. Don’t travel through this season of your life too quickly. Please give yourself grace! Remember imperfection always beats stagnation! You will find your dreams shift and change. Approach challenges with confidence and a plan and you will succeed! Keep moving forward! You have gifts to share with the world. Don’t hide them thinking they are less valuable because someone is more talented than you. Someone will always be more talented. That doesn’t make what you have to offer less! A time will come when you’re not sure you will live to see your children grown. Through this trial, you’ll realize people are the most important things in life. Let the little things go! It’s okay to not win an argument or be right. Small things are never worth the cost of a valued relationship. LOVE! You will have the opportunity to parent many children. Some you will give birth to, some you will adopt, and others will be children of your heart who don’t have homes of their own. These children will make amazing transformations just because they are loved, believed in, and have a support system! The road will be difficult, but it will be so worth it! Finally, you are fortunate to have an amazing circle of people! Trust their faith in you! View yourself through their eyes and see your potential. Don’t let your own self-doubt dim your light! Go out into the world and pour goodness, love and happiness into it! You will have a richer life for it! Love you, Future me

Breanne, When you were 20 years old you wrote the quote “I am the narrator of my lifetime story and it WILL be a Best Seller” …. Well, wasn’t that the truth. From your future eyes, now in a helicopter view staring at a little “Baby Bre” (as my Dad calls me) I stand in 1 thing and that’s P-R-I-D-E. Bre, life works out! The most powerful thing you have done is EVOLVE. Oh, the mistakes, the terrible decisions, the selfishness at times, the over giving other times…all of that doesn’t matter. Failures have formed you. I would love for you to know what your 2 biggest wins have been… 1. Receiving unconditional love from your parents creating your foundation, always value that! 2. You will learn to make peace with your past. Evolving has been your JAM! Good job girl! The pursuit of happiness has failed you many of times…Be grateful! That pursuit guided you to recognize it is not always the result you were chasing….it is the journey! These things led you closer to God and understanding yourself. You will find out… Your CUP is ALWAYS FULL. You do not crave anything in the flesh, you are not thirsty or dehydrated ever! I can’t wait for you to grow up past all of these awkward crazy “fun” times and feel intrinsic peace. Your husband is beautiful…good catch girl. Your children are amazing and maybe… just maybe you should have considered more? You are powerful and can handle ANYTHING life throws at you. Continue to know that little thing deep inside of you that always told you just to LOVE humans first….was your compass. Keep following that! Now, more importantly than what I tell my younger self, is what I will tell my future self…Voice of the future speak to me kindly! What we tell ourselves matters. Hopefully I am around midlife right now and I am just simply “narrating my lifetime story…and AGAIN… it will be a Best Seller”. Your Biggest Fan, Confident and Peaceful Breanne

Enter for a chance to win a 3-night getaway to Denver! chic Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek. Equal parts nostalgia and composure, this neighborhood restaurant serves up great food in a socially engaging atmosphere, offering brunch and dinner menus. Step outside the restaurant, and you’ll find the only hotel property in the country that offers a Vespa to zip around town. Halcyon feels a bit like your living room with a warm and inviting vibe. Soak up the social atmosphere both upon entry and at the Elevated Rooftop Bar, and bring your swimsuit for the pool deck complete with recreational curling, cabanas and breathtaking views of the city. Beyond the charm of Cherry Creek, Denver’s culture of arts and live music are thriving and growing by leaps and bounds. Take Meow Wolf, for example. Meow Wolf’s third permanent exhibition, Convergence Station, opened in Denver in September 2021 and is a not-to-be-missed experience. Likewise, the Denver Art Museum hosts its global art collections representing cultures from around the world, with more than 70,000 works of art in 12 permanent collections along with several outdoor artworks not to be overlooked.
