Anthony and Lucille Rizzo certainly exemplify a true local love story. They grew up around the block from each other in Washington Township and first met in Junior High at Westwood High School. A year apart in age, they remained friends throughout the years and began dating in 11th and 12th grade. They attended each other's proms and dated throughout college. Eventually, they got engaged on a trip to Aruba. These homegrown kids loved the area, so they bought a home in Park Ridge and were happy to have a place of their own. When it came time to plan their wedding in late August of last year, Anthony and Lucille knew they wanted to keep it close to home. "All our family and friends are in the area, and it felt right to keep things local." Since Anthony is the publisher of Pascack Valley City Lifestyle, it was even more crucial for the couple to stay within the Pascack Valley community and work with all the local businesses and vendors they had come to know and love. They discovered the beautiful Old Tappan Manor and immediately booked it for their wedding reception. "It was the perfect venue," says Lucille. With a classic, elegant vibe, it was the perfect locale to be the day's centerpiece, focused on sharing their nearly 14-year relationship with everyone they loved. Guests marked their calendars for the event with invitations from D'Amore Invitations in Cliffside Park. The bride and groom worked with Lauren of D'Amore Invitations to create the perfect piece, and its elegant gold monogram certainly introduced the celebration with class. The couple prepared for their big day by taking dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Oradell. Guests were blown away at their choreographed first dance to a custom mix of "Thank God" by Kane Brown into "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra. "We couldn't recommend Fred Astaire of Oradell enough to prepare for a special way to impress guests," said Anthony. Glowing skin is essential for beautiful wedding photos, so the bride and groom planned ahead and prepped for the big day with Bellatrix Med Spa. Both got regular facials, and Lucille loved how facials and dermaplaning services made makeup application seamless on the wedding day. Wedding bands were selected at La Mirage Jewelers in Park Ridge. The groom selected a two-tone band featuring both gold and white gold accents, while the bride went with eternity bands. George at La Mirage was a pleasure to work with and ensured the couple's rings fit perfectly. CONTINUED >

The night before the wedding, Lucille enjoyed a pre-wedding blowout and a few relaxing moments with her mom at Polished Pub in Park Ridge. Natalie from Polished Pub also provided the bride with hair touch-ups on-site at Old Tappan Manor to keep the bride's hair looking picture-perfect all night long! The ceremony was held at Our Lady of Mercy in Park Ridge. Its gorgeous stained-glass windows and high ceilings were the perfect scene for their heartfelt ceremony, and the magnificent ballroom and grounds at Old Tappan Manor were the ideal backdrop for the party to follow. Transportation was provided by The Good Life Transportation Company, which included a classic white Rolls Royce equipped with a red carpet and Champagne for the bride and groom, along with a party bus to accommodate the entire bridal party. The bride was dressed by BelFiore Bridal Boutique in Maywood. She wore a gorgeous Allure Couture gown accompanied by an overskirt for the ceremony. Her something "old" was a veil passed down for generations in her family. It was first worn by her great-grandmother and made of hand-sewn lace. Jewelry included a bracelet from Red Carpet Rocks in Westwood. Carolyn's Makeup Artistry in Washington Township provided the bridal prep, including hair and makeup. They offer both in-studio and on-site services, and the bride took advantage of the professional studio atmosphere. "It was perfect," says Lucille. "Gorgeous florals line the walls, and the swing backdrop makes it fit for a princess. It was the most amazing place to get ready. Their staff did a fantastic job. Everyone's hair and makeup looked gorgeous and lasted all day long! The groom was dressed by Sal Lauretta for Men in Midland Park. He wore a custom black tuxedo with a "Tom Ford"-style bowtie. His custom shirt was embroidered with his initials, making it extra special. "I felt like a million bucks on my special day," said Anthony. "The entire experience at Sal Lauretta was incredible—from start to finish. It was truly first class." Bridesmaids wore black Allure dresses from BelFiore Bridal Boutique, and groomsmen wore black tuxedos rented from Formals Only Tuxedos in Westwood. Classic elegance prevailed, and the black tuxes helped to create an authentic statement look. The gorgeous florals by Yumila Floral Designs in Paramus were spectacular. The bride carried an all-white rose bouquet complemented by the bridal party's combination of white roses and hydrangeas and the groom's rose boutonniere. Floral arrangements at the church and venue were all white, keeping the classic, elegant look. Angela Marchese, BelFiore Bridal Boutique owner, also served as the couple's day-of event coordinator. "Not only is her shop the perfect place to find your dress, but her services for day-of coordination were amazing! She made the day flow perfectly. It was worth every penny to take

the stress off the family so we could relax and enjoy! Our day would not have been the same without Angela there," stated Lucille. Entertainment for the night was provided by POSH DJs. The guests danced the night away to music from Posh DJ Andrew, who also brought a live saxophone player for musical accompaniment! Additional entertainment was provided by " The New Blue Eyes" of Dom Carbone, who performed music from Sinatra and similar genres while guests enjoyed dinner. Guests were enamored by the custom marquee from Marquee and Drops NJ featuring "The Rizzos," which stood front and center in front of the DJ booth. The light-up sign provided a beautiful backdrop for guests to enjoy throughout the night—and created an unforgettable photo op! A live painting of the wedding night was captured by The Wedding Artist, Linda Panikowski, featuring a pose from the couple's first dance. Not only did they get a beautiful piece to display in their home,

but guests were able to enjoy the live entertainment of the painting being created throughout the night. CxB Design tied the event together with an amazing life-size seating chart, along with a custom-created photo table featuring "generations of love," signature drink signs, a card box, table numbers, menus, and programs. The images of the day were captured by John Jae Photo & Video, who created a beautiful wedding video, highlight video, and teaser video for the couple to remember their day. All angles were captured— from bride and groom prep to the close of the reception. There was even drone footage of the church and venue! Anj Photographer, LLC made every moment picture-perfect. From morning prep to the end of the evening, every detail was framed to create lifelong memories. Anthony and Lucille enjoyed going through the huge selection of prints and choosing their favorites for albums and framing. The flowers from the wedding day were too beautiful not to keep forever! Luckily the bride was able to do so thanks to Flohral Preservation. Flohral Preservation created stunning resin pieces to preserve the wedding florals, including a monogrammed hexagon of the bride's bouquet, a jewelry dish, a ring holder, and a block featuring the groom's boutonniere. Last but certainly not least, guests left the party with custom cookies freshly baked by Treat Me Sweet Cookies featuring the wedding monogram as their favor. The cookies were the "talk of the evening" and beautifully decorated each table setting. And, they were delicious, too! Celebrating the day with family, friends, and the professional services of local businesses checked every box for the couple. "Our local celebration of love served as a timeless reminder that in our community, joy, and togetherness are forever intertwined" said Anthony. So here's to love, laughter, and a lifetime of happiness in our own backyard. In every "I do," our community grows a little warmer, a little closer, and a lot more joyful. Owners Ray Sweeney and his wife, Mariann, bought Frames by You in 2015 after Ray stopped by to pick up a framed piece for his wife. “I asked the owner to show me around, and we ended up buying the shop,” says Ray. With a background in drafting and construction, Ray’s skillset lent itself to the specialized techniques of framing all types of art, photos, and memorabilia. He and Mariann enjoy helping their clients select framing and matting materials that will highlight the project and provide long-term preservation of all artwork and treasures. “We only use acid-free mat boards to preserve the integrity of the artwork and artifacts,” says Ray. The shop specializes in custom matting with materials such as paper, silk, crushed velvet, and mats that mimic wood, or even the color and texture of footballs and basketballs. Wedding photos, vintage pictures, invitations, and diplomas are frequent framing projects. Ray is also well-versed in framing unusual 3D items like guitars and shadow box keepsakes. “I’ve framed a 6-foot-high English room divider from the 1800s, mirrors, wooden masks, and assorted collections of souvenirs and FR AME THE THINGS YOU LOVE

memorabilia, including a long-distance runner’s marathon photos, medals, and race bibs. I’ve also framed a grouping of basketball cards and New Jersey Nets memorabilia,” he says. When one of his customers complained that they didn’t have enough wall space for framed items, Ray innovated and constructed coffee tables and end tables with frames built right in--a sample of one is in his shop. They are entirely made of framing material and are photo-ready! There’s a lot of work involved in each project; for example, needlework pieces must be carefully centered, stretched, and matted. “We bring in additional colors from the mat to enhance and accent the piece,” says Mariann. “Custom matting and framing are what coordinate the look.” Ray is an admitted perfectionist at his trade. “I can frame just about anything—I can always figure out a way to do it. I prefer to construct it all myself so that I know it is done right. When I’m not happy with it, I start over again. I’ve thrown away a lot of frames that I wouldn’t give to a customer!” The lesson here is not to let treasured keepsakes gather dust. Recital dance costumes, album covers, racing helmets, concert tickets and posters, articles, magazines, and vintage jewelry can all be turned into works of art with the proper framing. “I get a lot of satisfaction in it. Everyone leaves here happy,” says Ray. “The best part is when people say, ‘I didn’t expect it to look that good!’”

What is the proper time for upcoming college graduates to start looking for their first job? If you're looking for a job now, be advised that most employers plan to fill the role within 30 days. If you are still in school, that won't work. However, professional services firms, such as law, architecture, engineering, or CPAs, tend to select their new employees early—so January would work if you were graduating in June. In most cases, the best time to look is in the spring, 30-60 days out from graduation. Prepare for seven to ten interviews with different companies and employers—it's a great experience!

What about resumes, cover letters, and references? Craft one resume that encompasses all of your experience and another that highlights your unique qualifications for a specific job you wish to pursue. Don't exaggerate. You will need to speak to every bullet on the resume (bullet format is best for readability). A one-page resume is perfect for early career candidates. If your GPA is over 3.5, add that to the resume, along with clubs, sports, or extracurricular activities to make your profile more well-rounded. A cover letter is unnecessary since most HR managers just skim them. Instead, invest your time in a well-written thank-you note after the interview. Human Resources may receive hundreds of applicants for each job posting, and things frequently fall through the cracks. Following up is essential, and a thank you note is a great way to do it! References are always provided upon request, so there's no need to include that line on the resume. Only share references when you're close to an offer. Richard Kintzing looks at health and wealth from a unique perspective. As a financial advisor with CFS Financial in Paramus, he helps individuals and businesses understand the “health” of their “wealth.” “I work with people and businesses organize their financial ‘junk drawer,’” he says. “I take the different products and institutions they use to manage their money and create a ‘Living Balance Sheet’ for them. CFS provides this service free of charge to help our clients get a snapshot view of everything in one place. There’s an app that goes along with it as well, and it’s very useful.” Managing wealth is actually Richard’s second career. His first was in the health field as an operating room nurse at Valley Hospital. The onset of the pandemic led him to consider a change of professional career. “My wife and I are both registered nurses, and my son was born in March of 2020. It was a nerve-wracking time to be a nurse.” Several months following the birth of his son, Richard’s mother-in-law posed an interesting question. “She asked me if I had a desire to do something other than nursing,” says Richard. “And immediately, I knew what it was. I was self-taught and self-studied in the field of finance. That’s what I wanted to do. I saw Covid as my opportunity to make a change.” Rich sought the help of his own trusted financial advisor who helped mentor him, setting him on the path to completing the licensing and compliance requirements to follow his dream. It was an inordinate amount of work, but Rich’s interest and fascination with the field were the catalysts to study and pass the mandatory tests. “It was a natural transition from nursing to financial advisor for me,” he says. “I’m a people person, and I enjoy working with people. Most folks don’t like talking about their finances—like they don’t like talking about their health, but I think my interpersonal skills help with that.” Rich’s engaging manner

and approachability have worked out for him in both professions, and many of his clients are nurses. “I speak their language,” he says. Rich also has a solid personal and professional involvement in philanthropic work. “I grew up doing a lot of volunteer work at my church in Nyack,” he says. When he began networking to grow his financial advisement clientele, he learned about several non-profit organizations that piqued his interest. “I wanted to help out in my own way,” he says. He developed a close relationship with TevaLand – a sanctuary farm in Hillburn, New York, where he volunteers as a sponsorship coordinator, providing information on sponsorships and what that means for both individuals and businesses on various levels, including how they may be able to claim sponsorships as tax deductions. “Our recent golf outing was our biggest success this year,” Rich states. Rich also volunteers with the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), which promotes education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, and excellence through community service and volunteerism. He is a member of the board of trustees within AHEPA, which focuses explicitly on cancer research. “This year, we donated $52,500 for cancer research to Rutgers, Fox Chase, and Weill Medical College. The organization donates directly to researchers, and every board member is a volunteer, so the money goes directly to the cause,” he says. Although Rich has worked very closely with these two organizations, he has a quiet involvement with many. “If there are other charitable things I can sprinkle in here and there, I love to help. My firm, CFS Financial, is also very active. We do a Thanksgiving food drive and a Christmas toy drive with the Salvation Army. CFS also supports the Make a Wish Foundation with a popular golf outing at Knickerbocker CC, which had raised over $2 million over the 27 years for the foundation.” CONTINUED >

Interestingly, Rich uses the same diagnostic tools for his financial clients that he used as an OR nurse. “I take a clinical approach--starting with assessment, and then moving on to diagnosis, planning, implementation, and finally, evaluation,” he says. “This diagnostic tool serves both professions well. We see where the inefficiencies are and then address them. When my kids were little, we would address valentines to classmates, deliver flowers to neighbors and decorate the house with hearts and snowflakes (cut from white coffee filters). For dinner, I would make their favorite meal: dessert! Why not? I'd melt chocolate (the good stuff) and let them line up their dippers. They thought dessert for dinner was magical. Of course, I'd fed them a protein-packed after-school snack and served "dinner" early so they could get their sugar wiggles out before bed. Delightful! Happy Valentine's Day!

1/2 cup milk 1 cup heavy cream 1/4 cup whole coffee beans 2 ounces semisweet chocolate (61% Valrhona), chopped • 2 tablespoons Kahlua • 1 teaspoon confectioner's sugar • 1 tablespoon dark chocolatecovered coffee beans, chopped

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, 1/2 cup cream, and whole coffee beans. Bring to a simmer, turn off heat, cover, and steep beans for 1 hour. Strain liquid and return to saucepan; discard beans. Bring the milk-and-cream mixture back to a simmer, add chocolate, and whisk until incorporated. Remove from heat; whisk in Kahlua. Whip remaining 1/2 cup cream and the confectioners' sugar until soft peaks form. Divide the hot chocolate between 2 cups and garnish each portion with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkling of chopped chocolate-covered coffee beans.
