Style is an expression that touches every part of our lives. It can be dramatic or something soft. It begins from within and finds its way into the details, colors and patterns all around us. Style is created as well as discovered. It’s woven into every detail of our existence, from the way we decorate our homes to the art and music we enjoy, the books we read and even how we interact with the world around us. What makes style so captivating is its deeply personal nature. It evolves alongside us as we explore new interests, embrace our own whimsy and express what we value most. It’s a language without words, a powerful tool for connection that can bridge differences and spark shared understanding. You’ll notice a floral theme throughout this issue that is inspired by the local flowers and growers that Parker Blooms uses for their floral arrangements. Lovely Acres, Golden Hour Gardens, Trinity Lake Farms and The Winding Way Farm provide fresh flowers and inspire the bouquets that Jodie and her team put together. Fresh cut flowers remind me that style is most stunning in its natural state, form and genre. It’s a gentle reminder that style can be an embellishment and celebration as well as a comfort in hard times. An artistic expression, it can awaken all sorts of emotions and meet you right where you are. Style makes life sweet. As you turn the pages this month, I hope each story and idea inspires you and life feels that much sweeter.

ORIGINAL LANDSCAPE AND ABSTRACT PAINTINGS BY DAVE REITER
The Story Behind the Painting:
I admired the grouping of these sunflowers on this particularly adorable day. It seemed like these sunflowers were having a good time simply hanging out and enjoying the moment within their surroundings. I loved the vibe that they projected as they went about their business. I wanted to portray those same impressions as I painted this piece and convey the characteristics of the moment as I first encountered them out in the open air.

Parker Blooms Highlights Local Growers Lovely Acres, Golden Hour Gardens, Trinity Lake Farms and The Winding Way Farm
Parker Blooms is a treasure trove of local appreciation. Jodie Rettinhouse, owner and designer at Parker Blooms, shares the benefit of having local blooms in her shop. “In most cases, our growers harvest the morning we receive them,” Jodie says. “Growing up in agriculture, I’ve always known the value of getting as close to the soil as possible. It’s better for the environment and by knowing how the flowers are grown and the

care that is taken to bring them to market, it makes us more knowledgeable florists.” She relishes the growers who bring each bloom to life. Lovely Acres, Golden Hour Gardens, Trinity Lake Farms and The Winding Way Farm inspire Jodie’s bouquets. Parker Blooms features an array of flowers, including dahlias, zinnias, snapdragons, cosmos and lisianthus. “Our love affair with lisianthus grew tenfold when Ryan at Golden Hour Gardens walked in with her buckets of fresh lisianthus last year, asking if we’d like to buy them. We bought every last bucket as we had never seen such huge, fluffy lisianthus. We joked that we almost wanted to eat them for lunch. I am not sure what Ryan has in her soil in Elizabeth, but it’s magical!” Jodie shares. “At Lovely Acres, dahlias are their prima donna show stoppers,” Jodie presses. “You should see the loving care Andrea provides these blooms. She wipes her clippers between every snip when harvesting to make sure she doesn’t transfer contamination or disease from one flower to the
next. She also puts little organza bags on each individual bloom to protect it from pests. I am so grateful for her care, which results in an amazing bloom for our customers.” The growers’ care and attention enhance the quality of Parker Blooms’ floral arrangements. “Zinnias are a fun, happy flower with some amazing colors. I appreciate their long vase life and versatility in color,” Jodie reminisces. “Snapdragons are another favorite grown by three of our growers. Our team was just talking the other day about how much stronger the stems of the local snapdragons are compared with the imported ones from our wholesaler.” Jodie’s main goal for her customers is to ensure they experience happiness when buying flowers. “Our customers come to us in the best of times and sometimes in the worst. We don’t take that part of our job lightly. It’s important to bring the customer’s vision to life, whether it’s flowers for a wedding, a special event, a holiday, a funeral or just because. People buy flowers to bring joy to the people they care about. This is the part of being a florist that fuels us every day.” CONTINUED >

She goes on to say, “We get to be a small part of our customers’ important life moments: welcoming a new baby; a person excitedly anticipating a first date or a marriage proposal; the celebration of a retirement, anniversary or birthday. We love the little glimpse we have into the lives of our customers.” At Parker Blooms, you’re supporting local growers and inspiring the dreams of florists who love to honor your special moments.

“We can send our grower a color from a vision board and she can send back actual pictures of the flowers growing in her field. Christy, Jann and Jennie
The team at Showplace Cabinetry Design Center has a way of bringing your home’s vision to life. Specializing in cabinetry, they offer full-service builds and remodels. Their main hub is located in South Dakota, where the cabinets are constructed and designers work closely with the production team. The plant also hosts designer meetings. I sat down with designers Christy Stumbo, Jennie Claus, Marissa Meyer and Manager/Lead Designer, Jann Levinsky, to catch firsthand inspiration from them. I wanted to know about their perspective on style and how they approach projects in our diverse and growing community of homes in Colorado. “Colorado has a variety of styles of homes,” Marissa states. “You know, you have everything from downtown Denver, with high rises that are very sleek, to homes built in 1908 that are very Victorian-esque or craftsman style from the 1920s to mid-century modern to the stuff that was built in the 90s and early 2000s. It’s such a wide range that it often comes down to the style of the house. You’re not going to put sleek modern in a 1908 house. You’re going to put in something highly decorative versus a 1920s craftsman type bungalow, CONTINUED > S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 5 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C O M / PA R KE R

where I might go with a slim rail shaker or a shaker or a slab door. There’s such a wide range of styles in our state and yet each one is a beautiful project to embrace.” Christy adds, “And there are ways you can still bring older styles into this era through colors and textures. You might go with something a little bit more traditional on your cabinet door, but your actual stain is going to be a very current stain that embellishes a modern style throughout the room.” “I like to think of us as cabinet and design fairy godmothers. We’re here to make clients’ dreams a reality,” Marissa shares.

They also emphasize the importance of building relationships and trust when they work with their clients. From contractors to their direct line with the team in South Dakota, the designers at Showplace Cabinetry Design Center carry excitement for the final product as well as full integrity and communication along the way. They stress the importance of monitoring home value and current budget when approaching a project. “It’s not just about enhancing the house; it’s enhancing their life,” Jann explains.
“I like to think of us as cabinet and design fairy godmothers. We’re here to make clients’ dreams a reality!”
Jennie mentions that, as a designer, seeing a project in 3D helps the team visualize the possibilities because designing is all in the details. “It’s the jewel of the job. Hardware adds personality to the cabinets. If you put a cute piece of hardware, something funky, it changes the whole flavor of what the door looks like. Faucets, too, decorative sinks in bathrooms. We have such a range of vendors. So you put it together based on budget and what will really dazzle. We don’t follow trends, we make them.” Jann says. Anne Barrington is no stranger to the Parker community. Recently featured in our May Ladies issue, Anne has owned The Barrington Group Real Estate since 2007. She’s also a council member for the Town of Parker and takes pride in giving back to the local community. If that wasn’t enough, last August, she opened Barrington Paint & Design. “Over the years, I have always been good at having consultations with my clients as far as what they need to do to get their home ready, how to depersonalize it and make it look like anybody could feel like they could live there. Along with that comes painting a lot of times,” Anne explains. With the start of this new endeavor, Anne sometimes wears two hats. She lists people’s houses for them, helps them through the selling or buying process and also assists in making their homes more appealing with a splash of color. “I’ve just always had kind of an eye for design,” Anne says. “I like to accent with accessories.” A unique aspect Anne brings to the table is matching a color in a beloved painting, vase or other precious antique and using that color to highlight a room. When it comes to open concepts, Anne sometimes suggests accent walls to add color without worrying about starting and stopping points.
“I have people who want to do accent walls,” Anne says. “And sometimes they have their mind set on one wall, I’ll maybe direct them towards another one. Sometimes it takes some coaching.” With Anne’s help, clients find a way to bring a wall to life with color without creating issues with transitions. Finding a color that works takes time and Anne simplifies the process by providing a method to help choose the right color. “A lot of times what I’ll say is ‘what are you drawn to on this page,’” as Anne showcases a sheet with small color swatches. “Then based on what they choose there, we’ll go a step up,” referring to larger tile swatches to showcase the client’s color preferences.

Anne then shows an even larger swatch that features a peel-off backing, allowing it to stick to the wall and show the client what the color will look like throughout the day. “The way this [paint color] looks right now in this light is going to look completely different this afternoon,” Anne explains. “Then I say I want you to put this in several different rooms and go back at different times of the day because you’re going to live with this for a while.”
Many gold colors from the 1990s are making a comeback, along with blacks for trims and accents. While trends are fun, Anne cautions people against being too trendy when it comes to decorating with paint. “If it’s something that’s very trendy that I know is going to be out next year, I might try to talk them into a different direction,” Anne says. “But I also want them to be able to enjoy it.” She factors in things like when the last time they painted and when they expect to paint again to help narrow down paint colors that will work. She also considers whether they plan to sell within the next five to ten years.
For someone selling their home, Anne discusses how neutral colors are most effective, as a house becomes a selling item rather than a home. “The way you live in a home and the way you sell it are two different things,” Anne explains. “Neutral colors are the safest and I have some go-to colors like Greek Villa.” While Anne’s style is more contemporary and traditional, she tries to keep that out of her planning when providing her expertise, unless the client requests it.
“When someone wants color, I’m going to give them color,” Anne emphasizes, wanting to bring every client’s wants and needs to life. Additionally, Anne collaborates with reliable subcontractors and provides clients with a line-by-line invoice, allowing them to understand the costs for each room. Between that kind of transparency, impeccable work ethic and fitting colors to a client’s desires, Anne says it best when asked what makes her company unique. “You’re getting us.”

THERE’S A New Medspa IN TOWN Dre’s Medspa serves more than just beauty treatments. Andrea (Dre) and Jason Nelson are all about creating a welcoming atmosphere for clients and offering services tailored to their customers’ needs. “Our main goal is to make you feel at home and comfortable while giving you excellent results,” Jason explains. The Nelsons opened their Parker medspa in April of 2025, inside Glamour FX salon. “It’s a one-stop shop here. We are a big team!” Jason says, referring to the providers within the retail space who offer permanent makeup, hair services, tattoo removal, eyelash extensions and more. Jason’s 21 years of experience as an RN and Andrea’s 15 years as a business owner have allowed them to fulfill their dream as a married couple, to work together to provide joy and hope to their clients. “We are best friends!” Andrea explains. “We have a blast! I wouldn’t want to work with anyone else.” The Nelsons trained for three years before opening the medspa. “We traveled all over the nation, did tons of training and obtained numerous certifications. We want to offer the ‘best of the best’ for the people who come to us,” Jason says. Andrea adds, “Jason knows the anatomy of the face better than most people do. He understands the muscles and how they work. CONTINUED >

He spends so much time on education, so people are really getting next-level care.” As parents of three boys and six dogs, family and marriage are their priorities and that attitude extends into the community-oriented style of business. “We are down-to-earth and treat all our clients like family, joking around and having a great time together. Some of our clients stop in just to say hi,” Jason says proudly. Jason is the master injector. He always starts with a complimentary consultation to understand the client’s needs. “I listen to what they say. We talk about everything they want and what I think we can do,” he explains. He gives the costs up front before any work has been done. “A lot of people have a budget, so we may work on the most important part for now. Then, down the road, we slowly get to where the client wants to be.” Dre’s Medspa is not about instant, dramatic results every time. “I tell people, ‘I know you want results right now, but in the long run, this will be the best treatment for you.’” The Nelsons buy their products in bulk and pass their discount on to their customers. “We don’t price gouge our clients,” Jason explains. “I would rather see ten people in one day and make the same amount of profit as I did if I just saw two.” Andrea and Jason see their clients return smiling and full of confidence. “It’s just the best feeling in the world!” Jason says exuberantly. LIVING STYLE THE INTERSECTION OF FASHION AND HOME
ARTICLE BY TYLER AMADEUS PHOTOGRAPHY BY ADRIEN KING AND ALEC WALWORTH
IN
this unexpected love affair, fashion and interiors are more than just a simple pairing—they are rooted in culture, creativity, and the human desire for self-expression. As conscious consumers of the 21st century, participating in a retail landscape that is oversaturated and struggling to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the modern customer, our purchasing power should not only respond to a feeling of want but also prioritize items that reflect who we are and who we aspire to be. This is clearly visible through the representation of fashion and interiors. Although we tend to consider cost-perwear primarily when it comes to clothing, this same principle applies to furniture and the function it brings to the home. Aesthetics and functionality both play a role in this pairing, painting a picture for
the rest of the world of who the wearer is and how they live in their space. The woman who wears a blazer with sharp shoulders that makes her feel powerful in her everyday life—or the black dress that gives her a necessary boost of confidence—may naturally gravitate toward sleek, modern furniture that feels equally strong and elevates the space where the modern woman thrives. In the same way, someone who prefers an effortless ensemble—like their favorite white T-shirt and comfortable denim jeans—may also look for home pieces that
are functional and make their guests feel at ease. Even a handmade rug, one that sparks conversation about where it was found and adds a focal point to a room, mirrors how we search our closets for a sweater tied to a cherished memory. Just as we carefully choose outfits to express ourselves, it’s equally important to ensure that our living spaces are designed with the same intention. More than ever, modern buyers are making purchasing decisions based on personal morals and values, forming a new wave of consumers who seek products that are both high-quality and environmentally or socially conscious, whether for themselves or their homes. The following imagery affirms that living a timeless lifestyle across all aspects of life is possible through the thoughtful styling of sustainable clothing and vintage furniture. As the modern retail landscape continues to evolve, it’s become increasingly vital to make conscious consumer choices—ones that allow us to express our truest selves through both our wardrobes and the places we call home.
