how to get involved with sleep in heavenly peace, denver Because the Denver chapter doesn’t have a designated space to store materials and build beds. They are dependent on space from contributing corporations and volunteers. A major way to further the mission of Sleep in Heavenly Peace is to provide a consistent location for operations. Something as small as a 250 square-foot office to store materials and bedding would be significant support. If you would like to get involved in another way, monetary and material donations are greatly appreciated. You can donate pillows, sheets and comforters to The Mama Bear Team. If you purchase any donations online, Tasha welcomes you to ship them directly to her office at 383 Inverness Pkwy Suite 140, Englewood, CO 80112. You can also sign up to be a corporate sponsor or volunteer your labor at https://www.shpbeds.org/chapter/co-denver. Lowe's has even pledged to donate $2 million to SHP when the nonprofit reaches 200,000 volunteers!

INSPIRED BY (CONTINUED) The Mama Bear Team was hooked. During the summer, they went to a National Build Day where they got to participate in making the beds from scratch. Once a quarter, the team participates in bed delivery days. These days pull on Tasha’s heartstrings because she gets to give a warm place to sleep to kids who've never had a bed before. “We’ve taught 11-year-old kids how to make a bed for the first time because they’ve never had the opportunity,” she says. It all ties in with The Mama Bear Team’s mission to fiercely protect their clients with every move. Tasha is invested in putting her clients’ needs first—much as a mother would. “Plus, I’m 6’1'', so I have the stature of a large animal. The name fits!” Tasha jokes. According to Tasha, buying a home is the largest financial decision many people will make during their lifetime, so she has 16 professional designations after her name, a repertoire she refers to as alphabet soup. “I can only serve your needs when I understand what your needs are. I take the time to ask and I further my education so I can represent my clients to the best of my ability,” Tasha says.

L I L I 'S B I S T R O DILLON Cocaine Tacos

When you pull into the parking lot of the little strip mall that houses LiLi’s Bistro, it’s not exactly a “wow” moment. Not yet at least but trust us and go inside anyway – the best part is coming. LiLi’s is bright and clean and has gold encrusted pictures on the wall that they make and sell on the side. It really doesn’t look like any traditional Mexican spot, but the food… the food is authentic and interesting, and honestly; it’s just good. The menu has character too, with sassy cocktail names, addicting apps and a kid’s menu that’s got jokes – this is the kind of place where you can enjoy a good meal but also feel like you are in good company. PRO TIP: It’s not on the menu, but the skinny margaritas made with agave are perfection.

TA C O S T E Q U I L A BAR & GRILL DILLON While I’m sure the food and drink here are good, I truthfully wouldn’t know. Because I don’t come here for the meals, I come here for the pastries. Having been raised in Arizona, there is nothing quite like the thrill of finding the local spot that displays a case full of assorted Panadería de México, churros and my absolute favorite, that creamy custardy flan. Skip the restaurant seating area and head straight for the bakery display-case corner. Here you will find the pan dulce and other goodies, many at just $1 apiece. Fill a box and enjoy them with coffee for breakfast, as a midday snack, or to close out your day on the slopes with a sweet treat! PRO TIP: Cash only.

BROKEN COMPASS BREWERY AIRPORT ROAD & NOW SOUTH MAIN STREET, BRECKENRIDGE

In Colorado, breweries are like coffee shops - there seems to be a craft brewery or local taphouse on every corner. The mountains are no exception and for our last (but certainly not least) Publisher pick, we are introducing you to one of our favorite places to spend an afternoon with a view – Broken Compass. Opened in 2014, with a second tap room new to the Breckenridge scene as of this year right downtown, this local gem brews and pours unique and delicious beers from the highest quality ingredients and purest water to delight anyone’s discerning taste. Jason (The Big Beard on Campus) and wife, Jo Ford, founded the brewery with the understanding that sometimes getting lost helps you find your way and Broken Compass has been part of their passionate journey and destination all at once. Check it out next time you’re in town and be sure to visit their website for live music, trivia and food truck events. PRO TIP: Grab that growler (or two). You won’t find this beer at your local liquor store because in the spirit of keeping it local you’ll be hard pressed to find it down the hill.

GIVING AWAY AFTER A SUCCESSFUL CAMPAIGN LAST YEAR, LIFESTYLE PUBLICATIONS IS GIVING $300,000 TO RECIPIENTS IN NEED THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON AND BEYOND... AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

ABOUT SIX YEARS AGO ANNA SAROL, THE DAUGHTER OF A SINGLE MOTHER, WAS PARALYZED IN A GYMNASTICS ACCIDENT WHEN SHE WAS A FRESHMAN IN HIGH SCHOOL, BUT UNTIL LAST YEAR SHE DID NOT HAVE A STAIRLIFT IN HER HOME. The stairlift was made possible when Lifestyle Publications gave her family $10,000. Anna Sarol

“I watched my community come together to help me get this equipment to my house, and words can’t explain how appreciative my family and I are,” Anna says. The money for Anna’s stairlift was part of a giveaway campaign from the company during the 2020 Christmas season that benefited more than 80 recipients across the country with a final distribution of $250,000 throughout the year. When the company opened nominations, they were flooded with submissions. Community leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you nominated people that were in need of assistance. As the eyes and ears of the community, these readers were able to help identify people who might have otherwise gone unnoticed or unrecognized. One such nominee was Kathy*, an aunt who is raising her three young relatives. The children came from an abusive situation, and Kathy, a single guardian, works tirelessly to provide for them. Nevertheless, the family was already living in poverty despite her working seven days a week when Kathy lost her job during the pandemic. She resorted to selling tamales to help pay the rent.

When a case manager with a Big Brothers Big Sisters foster youth mentoring program heard about Lifestyle’s campaign and call for nominations, she quickly thought of Kathy. “When I shared the news that Kathy was selected and would be receiving $3,000, she cried, screamed, and was in disbelief,” the case manager said. “She immediately wanted to give back to me and the donor by providing endless tamales. This funding allowed the children to have a small Christmas tree for the first time ever. Kathy was able to pay her rent and utilities for three months, and the children were able to experience a holiday season in peace without financial stressors.”

GIVING BACK (CONTINUED)

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GIVE AWAY $3OO,OOO This year the company will have nominations for the giveaway open from December 1-15, 2021. To submit a nomination, follow @CityLifestyle on Instagram and fill out the form found in the bio link. The amount given to each recipient will be based on need. The leaders of Lifestyle Publications believe God has blessed them with their company’s continued success, so they in turn wish to be a blessing and encouragement to others as they increase the amount of this year’s giveaway to those in need to $300,000 for the year.

In yet another case, Emily* who worked as a janitor at a school, was a recipient and was struggling to afford simply buying groceries for her children. Before the ongoing difficulties of the pandemic even started, a tornado destroyed the school she worked at just a couple weeks before the initial shutdown in March 2020 which resulted in a loss of income for her. Emily was incredibly surprised and grateful to receive assistance from the giveaway. *Names changed for privacy 38
