For me, this summer has already started with one of life’s big adventures. We welcomed our third child – our third son – at the start of the season. What a thrill! And although this means I might be inside with the AC a bit more than outside in the heat for the next several months, it does nothing to diminish my love for summertime and the many other adventures it brings. When I was growing up, the summers were all about neighborhood swim team, my mom’s pasta salad, and getting to watch The Price is Right each morning. Maybe for you it was summer camp, family vacation, snow cones, or going to the movies. No matter your brand of nostalgia, we’ve got ideas to continue those memories. That’s why this issue of Park Cities Lifestyle is all about summer, adventure, and fun here in Dallas. Don’t miss our list of family-friendly water outings on page 16 or our feature on kid-friendly camps and more on page 24. And definitely take time to peruse our recommended collection of beach reads on page 36 and the roundup of jetsetting travel gear on page 32. Plus, if (like so many of us) your body is feeling worn down from the first half of the year, then now might be the time to dig into our story on whole body cryotherapy on page 18. Looking ahead, I’m hoping for a safe and happy summer for everyone in this community. As we all know, our neighbors in the South Texas town of Uvalde are experiencing unimaginable grief that will continue for a long time. Let’s remember not to take any moment for granted, to cherish the ones we love, and to enjoy every adventure life brings our way. Which brings me back to my own big adventure: It’s time to figure out the magical, nostalgic, summertime fun I can create for my own growing brood. And I hope you are doing the same!

Some aches and pains are just a part of life. But when they become debilitating, such as in the case of friends Michelle Yourek Grosse and Alli Chambers, something has to give. In Chambers’ case, a nagging back injury forced her out of a career she loved. Then, in 2013, she discovered cryotherapy through Grosse. Originally intended for athletic recovery, chronic pain, and natural healing, it became her solace, working wonders where other treatments had done little to nothing. She was sold. “Michelle and I combined our superpowers, and before we knew it, The Cryo Spa became the first whole body cryotherapy location to open in Fort Worth,” Chambers says. Today, Chambers says the close friends and business partners’ passion for cryo and holistic health and wellness has grown exponentially. “We’re in a unique position to spend our days helping people reach goals and feel their best,” she says. “What a life. ADVENTURE GUIDES Looking ahead to the fall and next Spring, here is one not to miss. Dallas area fathers, and their children, will tell you about an important rite of passage: the Y’s Adventure Guides program (formerly known as Indian Princess and Indian Guides). It has been a cornerstone of the organization’s mission to put Christian values into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Adventure Guides provides dads and their children unique opportunities for valuable time together twice a year.
