January carries a certain clarity. I have always felt that a new year is less about reinvention and more about recognition. It's a moment to pause and acknowledge who we are now and who we are becoming. I love seeking meaning in things, so I looked into the symbolism of stepping into 2026. In numerology, the number six represents harmony and balance. The number two is tied to connection and purpose. Together, they remind us that a meaningful life is built in the in-between spaces. The small choices. The daily rituals. The moments we decide to show up for ourselves. We are honored to open the year with Brooke Burke on our cover. Personally, I will always cherish our Zoom interview, with Brooke on video from her neighbor’s treehouse. I grew up with her workout DVDs, and talking with her now was a reminder that evolution is a privilege. We do not have to chase a past version of ourselves. We can honor who we are today. This issue reflects that spirit. It's filled with stories, insights and fresh thinking designed to support your year ahead. Inside, you'll find health trends worth exploring, micro joys that make everyday life feel richer, and perspectives from voices who live and breathe wellness. And because we are embarking on the greatest show on grass, we are bringing you an exclusive with the 2025 WMPO champ as he prepares to return and contend again. Personally, I do not do resolutions, but I do embrace goals. This issue reminded me of the power of doing. Even a few minutes of movement. Lifting something heavy. Drinking more water. A healthier choice. A kinder thought. Small actions that build momentum. As I look back on 2025, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. For your support. For our partners, friends and community. For the privilege of telling your stories month after month. Every year seems to move faster, and while I wish I could press pause, I am thankful for the chance to begin another chapter with you. With gratitude as we step into 2026 and all the possibility ahead, I am excited to continue this journey together and appreciate you being part of our PVCL family. Here's to 2026! A year of grounding, growth and genuine joy. NADINE BUBECK, PUBLISHER @ PA R A D I S E VA L L E Y C I T Y L I F E S T Y L E

BECOMING B ro o ke
BURKE “I FEEL LIKE I AM EVERY WOMAN. I EVOLVE AND CHANGE EVERY SEASON, AND I AM DIFFERENT TODAY THAN I WAS LAST YEAR.”
For many women, Brooke Burke was not simply the woman we watched. She was the woman we grew up with. She was the face on our fitness DVDs, the voice in our living rooms, the woman so many of us admired long before wellness became an industry. And now, years later, Brooke is offering something far more meaningful than workouts. She is offering connection, community, and a genuine chance to come back home to yourself. CONTINUED >

Talking to Brooke feels familiar. She is still radiant and warm, but also grounded, intentional, and deeply self-aware. The titles we used to give her do not fully fit anymore. She has grown past them. “I feel like I am every woman. I evolve and change every season, and I am different today than I was last year,” she reflects. And she means it. Reinvention, for Brooke, is not a brand. It’s a life practice. A muscle she has strengthened through divorce, motherhood, blended family dynamics, career pivots, cancer survival, and the quiet internal work of softening when the world expected her to be steel. This is the Brooke Burke we meet now; a guide, a teacher, a woman who continues to become. Here, she opens up with candor, humor, vulnerability, and wisdom in a conversation that feels like catching up with someone we have known forever.
WHAT IS THE TITLE THAT FEELS MOST TRUE TO YOU TODAY? I am the sum of a lot of different stories. Every chapter of my life forces a reinvention, and I am constantly reintroducing myself to myself.
WHAT IS ONE DAILY RITUAL THAT YOU SWEAR BY?
I start every morning with lemon water. The whole lemon. Skin, seeds, pulp, everything. People tease me and call me the lemon lady, but everything we need is in the skin. Antioxidants, gut health, detox. And when I do that one intentional thing, the tone of my entire day shifts.

YOUR RETREATS ARE EXPLODING, FROM ARIZONA TO COSTA RICA. WHAT DRAWS YOU TO THIS WORK? Every time I guide a retreat, I leave wanting more. It is not a vacation where you need another vacation. It is a reset. A redesign. A chance to reimagine your life. And women show up hungry for change. Hungry to reconnect with themselves. I take that seriously because time away is such a privilege. I cram every pillar of mind, body, and energy into the experience so they walk away transformed.
WOMEN FEEL SUCH A STRONG BOND WITH YOU. WHAT DOES THAT CONNECTION LOOK LIKE BEHIND THE SCENES? It is undeniable. We are together from breakfast to dinner. We share meals, stories, tears, breakthroughs. We form lifelong friendships. One of my best friends came from a retreat. Women want to be seen. We want to be heard. We want a safe space to soften. And these retreats give us that.
WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST LETTING-GO MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE, THE ONE THAT SHIFTED YOU? Many. Divorce. Leaving ABC after almost a decade. Reinventing myself publicly. Blending a family. Cancer. Living without guilt or shame. The strongest women are the ones who know how to surrender. Softening is strength. CONTINUED >

“YOUR SPIRIT IS AGELESS. IT DOES NOT KNOW NUMBERS.” BROOKE’S DAILY RITUALS • Lemon Water: She blends the entire lemon, calling it her intentional reset. • Morning Meditation: Ten quiet minutes to clear the mind and set the tone. • Walk and Talks: Sometimes a business call, sometimes silence. • Yoga and Sculpt: A few weekly sessions, plus her Friday livestream. • Joy Forward Meals: Family dinners, grilling with Scott, veggies, soups and a bottle of red wine. • Digital Community: Her BB Body women meet every Monday to start the week together.

WHAT HELPED YOU ACTUALLY GET STRONGER? Life. Experience. Wellness. Guiding women all over the world and learning from them. I do not just teach. I absorb. And coming back to Arizona feels like coming home. There is something about the desert. The neutral palette, the landscape. My stress level drops the minute I land.
HOW DID BROOKE BURKE BODY EVOLVE INTO A GLOBAL COMMUNITY? It started as a fitness app and became a campus. Mind, body, energy. Hormones. Feminine health. Meditation. Strength. We do live streams. We do panels. Thousands of women. Hours of content. And every Monday morning we meet as a community. Some women do not even love fitness. They come for the connection.
YOU SAID BEAUTY COMES FROM JOY. WHAT BRINGS YOU JOY NOW? Family, of course. Motherhood is my foundation. But joy came when I finally put myself at the top of my to-do list. When I lowered my stress. When I carved out girlfriend getaways. When I let myself feel the spirit of a child again. Our spirit is ageless. It does not know numbers.
HOW DO YOU CREATE THAT KIND OF WELLNESS DAILY?
I meditate. I did not do that in my 40s. I could not quiet my monkey brain. But now the more I meditate, the clearer I am. I walk a lot. I take walking meetings. I cook. Scott and I grill. I eat really well but I also love a bottle of red wine and a good pasta night. And no, I do not have a chef or a driver. I am a carpool mom who happens to run a company. CONTINUED >

LET’S TALK DANCING WITH THE STARS. IS THERE A MOMENT THAT STILL STAYS WITH YOU? Oh, so many. That show is terrifying. Physically brutal. Emotional. You want to quit every week. I remember thinking: who do I think I am. But fear is where you meet yourself. Those extraordinary moments during my time on Dancing with the Stars were truly pivotal and life-changing, and I’m immensely grateful for my seven years of hosting. The mirrorball trophy represents a win on so many levels far beyond the ballroom.
YOU HAVE SAID YOU KEEP CHOOSING SCARY THINGS. WHY? Because uncertainty creates growth. Everything beautiful is born from uncertainty. Love. Intimacy. Comedy. Reinvention. Women going through divorce or empty nesting ask: what now. I ask, what is in that uncertainty that is waiting to show you who you are.

body get strong. Come stand on the ropes course crying and shaking and then walk across anyway. You learn things about yourself up there that you cannot unlearn. It is transformation.
AND YOU HAVE A BOOK IN THE WORKS? I want to write about all the things I was not ready to write until now. Blended families, divorce, falling in love again, aging with strength. Not from a place of wisdom, but experience. Because I have become someone new, and she deserves to speak. I like to write about freedom; freedom to change, freedom to let go, and freedom to evolve. What I’ve learned through the peaks and valleys is to carve out a free, protected space that I hold just for myself.
WHY SAY YES TO A SCOTTSDALE COVER NOW?
SOME WOMEN FEEL LATE TO WELLNESS. WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THE WOMAN WHO FEELS INTIMIDATED?
Because Arizona is home. My family is here. My roots. My memories. My cowgirl boots. To return to the desert in this way feels full circle. It is not just an honor; it is personal.

“PEOPLE THINK IT’S ALL GLAMOROUS. THAT NIGHT WAS KIDS, MILK, TAKEOUT AND A TROPHY ON THE COUNTER.”
On the night Thomas Detry won the WM Phoenix Open, he celebrated with takeout and his family. “We put the girls to bed, ordered PF Chang’s, and when the delivery guy knocked he looked at me and said, ‘Wait, you won the tournament, right?’ I said, ‘Yeah, that’s me.’ People think it is all glamorous. That night was kids, milk, takeout and a trophy on the counter.” It was a very on-brand ending for a week that felt bigger than golf but deeply anchored in family, routine and a quiet kind of discipline. Detry, 32, is the reigning champion of the WM Phoenix Open, the Belgian who walked into the loudest tournament on earth and turned the chaos into a personal breakthrough. His 2025 win made him the first Belgian-born player ever to win on the PGA Tour and only the third European to win in the history of the event. Overnight he jumped inside the top 20 in the world, secured spots in the majors and, in his words, made life “slightly easier” from a scheduling standpoint. But in the moment, walking up the 18th fairway with a six-shot lead, he barely let himself think about any of it. “I was so in the zone that not many things went through my mind. My caddie actually tapped me on the back on 16 and told me to enjoy it. Leading by six in a tournament like that is not something I will experience many times in my life.” > CONTINUED

“IF SOMEONE TELLS YOU THEY NEVER GET NERVOUS, THEY’RE LYING. THE KEY IS HOW YOU DEAL WITH IT. THIS YEAR’S GOAL? PLAY AS WELL AS I CAN AND GO FOR A SECOND WIN.” In case you’re living under a rock, we all know that Open week at TPC Scottsdale is unlike any other golf tournament. From practice rounds to Sunday’s final putt, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is part golf, part festival, part controlled riot. Detry calls it “nonstop craziness” in the best possible way. “Everyone is there to party, but when you hit a great shot they have no choice but to support you. On 16 I played really well all four days. When you see the whole place erupt for a good shot, you feel like you’re contributing to the atmosphere.” His favorite test was not the stadium par 3, but the 11th hole, a par 4 that hugs water and desert. “Eleven requires the perfect tee shot. You can hit it right in the desert in a bush, left into the water, blocked behind a tree. You’re making double at best. On Sunday I knew it was a key moment. I birdied it with a tough pin, and that really helped the next few holes.” What makes the story even better is that he almost skipped the week entirely. The tournament before Phoenix was at Pebble Beach. Detry had started the year well with a fifth-place finish in Hawaii and felt taxed by the early stretch. “I was sitting at Pebble thinking I was exhausted. We actually discussed not playing Phoenix and taking the week off. However, we decided to go and take it easy. No practice Monday. Almost nothing Tuesday.

I played the pro-am Wednesday, felt good over the ball, and the rest is history. That is golf. You can plan everything and not perform, then show up tired and have the week of your life.” That “week of his life” echoed all the way home. Golf is not a mainstream sport in Belgium, so Detry had no sense of the impact until the next morning. “We live so far away from home that we didn’t realize what we had done. I woke up to messages saying I was on the front page of the main newspapers. It was the first time a golfer was on the front page. That is when it hit me.” He is proudest of what the win means for Belgian golf. “I feel like I have written a little piece of Belgian history. To represent the Belgian flag across the pond and win there for the first time… it’s pretty special.” Detry’s life, though, is hardly rooted in one place. His wife, Sarah, is British. They spend time in London. Most of the year is in the United States chasing the PGA Tour. Winters, when the schedule eases, are for Dubai, where he answered our Zoom interview with his two young daughters, ages three and two, just a room away. “We have a crazy life. In season, we are traveling every week. Dubai is where I can sleep in the same bed, work out every day, eat healthy, and practice every afternoon. October to early January is like my reset before we go to the West Coast and start again.”
That reset matters, especially after a year like 2025. For all the doors the Phoenix win opened, Detry is candid that the season did not snowball into the fairy tale some might expect. “I was hoping the win would open the floodgates, that I would turn into one of those stories where someone almost loses their card and then wins a major. You see guys like that. I maybe put too much pressure on myself, thinking that because I won a big event, I should contend every week. I just missed the Tour Championship. I was in the conversation for the Ryder Cup and didn’t qualify. There were disappointments. But if you told me at the start of the year that I’d finish top 50 in the FedEx Cup and win one of the biggest events, I would have signed straight away.” He is equally honest about the mental toll. “It is just us, our caddie and a ball that doesn’t move. Millions of people watching, judging, saying ‘he hasn’t done well since.’ There are critics, there is support, there is everything. It is on us to navigate that jungle as best we can. I think I am doing pretty well with it, but it is a tough sport.” One of the tools that steadies him now is something he discovered the Sunday morning of his win: the cold plunge. “I did not sleep well the night before. Five-shot lead, trying to win my first tournament, I was nervous. Usually I do an ice bath after rounds to recover, but that morning I did one first thing. Five or six minutes. When I came out of it I felt strange but better, calmer. Since then I do it pretty much every morning during tournament weeks.” That morning, he birdied the first hole and rode the momentum all the way to the trophy. “If someone tells you they never get nervous, they are lying. The key is how you deal with it.” On the technical side, his answer to what is in his bag is simple. “Driver and putter. When those two are cooperating, I am dangerous. Iron play can be okay and you can still get around. But when the driver and putter are performing, it is usually a great week.” Beyond the numbers, the images that mean the most are still the ones on the 18th green, his wife and daughters running out to meet him. “Those pictures are all over our house. I look at those photos often and remind myself of how good it felt.” Detry is fluent in four languages, a field-hockey-playing, tennis-loving kid from Belgium who discovered he was simply better at golf. He starred for the University of Illinois, where coach Mike Small helped sharpen his competitive edge and mental game, then turned pro with a self-imposed three-year deadline to “make something happen or do something else.” He made something happen. His style on the greens reflects who he is. “I would say freestyle. I am a feel player. As soon as I get too technical, it goes wrong. When I tried the super-structured green reading, it was not my vibe.” Now he is preparing to return to Scottsdale as the defending champion, his first time ever in that role. “I’m excited. There will be more media, more expectations. It will be on me to pace myself, stay focused and just play. The goal is simple. Play as well as I can and give myself a chance to go for a second win.”
Only one player has won the WM Phoenix Open back to back in recent history. Hideki Matsuyama did it in 2016 and 2017. Detry laughs remembering a recent Sunday round with him in Korea. “I asked if he was playing Phoenix,” Detry says. “He said yes, of course. Then he goes, ‘I won it twice.’ He had almost forgotten he won it two years in a row.” His dream foursome? Roger Federer and Tiger Woods. “Roger has started playing golf lately and I heard he’s pretty keen. Tiger… I’ve been a fan of his ever since I was born. I’ve never played with him, but he’s always been one of my idols. For a fourth spot? Probably a good friend.” A starstuck memory from WMPO 2025? “Meeting Michael Phelps. I’ve always been a huge fan.” He also ran into Niall Horan from One Direction after the tournament. “He gave me a big hug and said, ‘That was so cool.’” Detry has not forgotten anything about his week in the desert, and neither have the fans who stayed up until the early hours of the morning to watch history. In a sport where nothing is guaranteed, his outlook is simple. “There is no script for any of this. Phoenix happened so organically. All I can do is keep working, keep getting better, and hope I get to relive moments like that again.” JANUARY 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C OM/PA RAD I S E VA L L E Y

WMPO Player to Watch: Joel Dahmen According to the TOUR, he’s a name worth watching; a player whose grit and undeniably elite ball striking make him a compelling story heading into WMPO 2026. Here, Joel Dahmen opens up on pressure, perspective, and the moments that have shaped his game.
What’s the most memorable moment of your career so far? I think I’d be lying if I didn’t say my win at Corales. You just try so hard to be on top and it never happens, so when the one actually does, you enjoy it.
What’s one part of your game you’re most proud of right now? I’d say my ball striking stats are pretty good, and no matter how you slice it, it puts me up there with the best in the world. I’m always trying to sharpen my putting, however, but the chipping is something that has me really excited. I have learned a lot about how my body moves, and what that does to change my chipping action.
What’s your go-to pre-round ritual? As I age, the stretching and mobility part of my routine has become a can’t miss.
What would surprise people about you off the course? I’m not as fun as they think I am. I like to be lazy and read up on history and anything that takes my mind to a different place.
A candid look at the mindset, moments, and honesty shaping Joel Dahmen’s game 38
O UR TOWN | SP O RTS + RE CRE AT ION
What are you most looking forward to at this year’s WMPO? The vibe is unbeatable. Hopefully, with all the TOUR changes, just getting in the event can be something I look forward to. Really though, just seeing what the Thunderbirds do for the community is so great. They put so much effort into one week. It’s a party for sure, but for a good cause.
What’s one mindset shift that changed your performance? It’s just golf. Yes, it’s important, but there are kids out there fighting cancer and it makes a golf shot seem so irrelevant. I have a family that takes much of my mind, and caring about them has made me a better man and golfer.
What’s your “shot you’ll never forget?“ One of the most recent is basically the two putts to keep my card last year. People were all talking about it, so it’s probably the most pressure I’ve ever had, and I performed under the gun.
“
“I’m not as fun as they think I am. I like to be lazy and read up on history and anything that takes my mind to a different place. Dream foursome? My mom, dad, and maybe someone like Ken Griffey Jr. or George Washington.”
If you could play a dream foursome with any three people (dead or alive), who’s teeing off with you? My mom, dad, and maybe someone like Ken Griffey Jr. or George Washington...
What club in your bag has the most personality? Easily my hybrid that I bought off eBay. It’s a PING Anser that’s probably 10 years old, but it’s reliable.
What song pumps you up? This might be a weird answer, but I love Ben Rector. I don’t need to be pumped up for a whole lot these days, so Jock Jams volume 77 (probably by now) isn’t really needed. More of a get-in-the-mindset pump up is what I go for.

people in the world. Super Bowl champions. Top tier industry leaders. Award-winning talents. CEOs whose calendars never have space for downtime. And now, a growing wave of women seeking energy, vitality, and relief after years of pushing through symptoms that were never meant to be endured. And while Auragens has long operated at a global level, this month its presence begins to touch Arizona in a new way. A private Paradise Valley residence will host a rare by-invitation-only introduction to the brand. If you are lucky enough to be on the guest list, you’ll hear firsthand the story of a company that is reshaping how injuries heal, how the body ages, and how to move through every phase of life with more strength, clarity, and recovery than ever before. The local connection deepens through Dr. Adam Loiacono, a Scottsdale-based performance specialist and longtime professional physical therapist who is partnering with Auragens to bridge elite regenerative medicine with at-home structure and long-term results. And at the center of it is Dr. Dan Briggs, Founder and CEO of Auragens, a leader whose scientific precision is matched by a rare ability to explain complex biology in a way that sparks hope instead of confusion. “When people step into Auragens for the first time, I want them to feel a sense of support and possibility. Regenerative medicine isn’t magic and it isn’t hype. It’s the science of helping the body repair itself more efficiently,” says Dr. Briggs. CONTINUED >

His message: healing is not passive here. That is the philosophy behind the 48th floor. The destination itself feels like the Beverly Hills of Panama City. Plush accommodations. Private drivers. Concierge airport escorts who greet patients at the gate. Floorto-ceiling views of the Pacific. Quiet lounges designed to lower cortisol by design. Between treatments, patients tour the city, experience the culture, and settle into a rhythm that feels more wellness retreat than medical trip. A regenerative getaway where biology and luxury share the same language. “Every inch of the experience is designed to keep stress low, inflammation controlled, and the body primed for repair.” For women especially, that matters. Hormonal shifts across postpartum, perimenopause, and later life directly influence inflammation, tissue quality, recovery, sleep, and energy. Most women normalize those symptoms and are often told they are tired because of stress or age. “Those symptoms signal something deeper: the body’s repair pathways are overwhelmed. These aren’t just hormones. They are signs the body’s healing systems need help. Stem cell therapy helps recalibrate inflammation and promote cellular repair.” At Auragens, the science is not abstract. It is cellular communication in action. Patients are often surprised to learn that stem cells are not tiny replacement parts. They are signaling cells, sending biochemical messages that reduce inflammation, calm the immune system, and activate the body’s own repair machinery. “Stem cells are more like project managers than construction workers. They organize and coordinate the healing process.” And the results begin early. Less inflammation. Better sleep. Steadier energy. Faster workout recovery. Then, over two to six months, the deeper improvements emerge through cartilage, tendon, muscle, and joint repair. Gradual. Structured. Evidence-based. “Regeneration is a process, not an event.”
Private In-Home Health Care One of the most compelling elements of Auragens is how Dr. Briggs builds protocols for elite athletes and then adapts the same principles for everyday people. Athletes arrive with pressure, timelines, and careers on the line. They cannot disappear from training. They cannot stop moving. “We reverse-engineer everything from the athlete’s competitive demands. Regenerative medicine blended with sports science.” It is why the same approach works for women in their 40s and 50s who are trying to regain strength, decrease inflammation, and feel like themselves again. The biology is the same. Only the goals differ. Notable figures have publicly supported Auragens, including Dan Patrick, Jay Glazer, and Von Miller. NFL star DeForest Buckner recently shared that he traveled to Panama during his bye week to treat a neck injury and accelerate recovery. “The stories are real and increasingly visible, but meaningful transformations belong to the people who aren’t just in stadiums. It is the 40, 50, and 60-year-olds who have been told this is just getting older and then they get their lives back.” For Arizona, Auragens is arriving at a time when women in particular are craving long-term solutions, not quick fixes. The partnership with Dr. Adam Loiacono deepens that reality. Together, they developed LEGACY, a three-phase experience integrating biomarkers, MRI, movement assessments, nutrition, strength cycles, systemic and targeted stem cell applications, hyperbaric oxygen, red light therapy, and six-week pre and post protocols. “Our goal is to pair world-class biologics with structure. To ensure the cells do what they are capable of doing. To bring elite regenerative medicine to men, women, athletes, and high performers in a way that is safe, ethical, data-driven, and deeply human,” says Dr. Adam Loiacono. Dr. Briggs continues.

“WE REVERSE-ENGINEER EVERYTHING FROM THE ATHLETE’S COMPETITIVE DEMANDS. REGENERATIVE MEDICINE BLENDED WITH SPORTS SCIENCE.”
NFL's DeForest Buckner
“Most people prepare extensively before and after surgery. The same preparation should exist around regenerative medicine. Personalization is in the strategy, not the genetic material.” That transparency matters. Auragens uses only screened, healthy, full-term umbilical cord–derived mesenchymal stem cells processed in their ISO and GMP-certified labs on-site. Nothing embryonic. Nothing fetal. Nothing that carries another person’s DNA. It is standardized biology with strict oversight and global compliance. “There are many options out there, but you need to vet a credible and safe clinic. Look at the labs. Look at the oversight. Look at the outcomes. If a clinic cannot explain where the cells come from and how they are tested, that is a red flag.” As the conversation turns to the future, Dr. Briggs speaks about exosome advancements, AI-assisted regenerative dashboards, biologic manufacturing, and the merging of recovery, technology, and luxury into entirely new categories of care. But the deeper mission remains the same: improve healthspan, not just lifespan. Keep people adaptable. Keep them strong. Keep them living fully. “Introducing Auragens to Arizona is about possibility. It is about redefining what it means to age, to recover, and to thrive.” If you’re not on this month’s event guest-list, you can still explore whether Auragens is right for you. Mental Performance Is the New Luxury THE RITUALS THAT POWER TODAY’S TOP ATHLETES ARTICLE BY BROOK CHOULET, MD, THE PERFORMANCE PSYCHIATRIST®
In today’s world where everyone is striving for success, true luxury has evolved. What is real luxury? It’s not possessions or status. It’s mental clarity: the ability to remain composed, confident, and present in a world that never slows down. For elite performers across different industries, mental performance has become the ultimate status symbol.
THE POWER OF CONSISTENCY: KEVIN LOVE’S RITUALS
For NBA champion Kevin Love, high-performance begins with the smallest but consistent rituals. “Cold showers,” he says with a laugh. “It wakes me up, keeps my energy steady, and makes me feel good.” Love, one of the most outspoken advocates for athlete mental health, views consistency as the foundation of confidence. His mornings are structured around:

“YOU CAN’T JUST PUSH THROUGH FOREVER. AT SOME POINT, YOUR BODY OR YOUR MIND WILL FORCE YOU TO PAUSE.” -DANICA PATRICK • Breathwork to center his focus • Nutrition and hydration to maintain balance • Reflection to set intention for the day ahead “Not every day is made the same,” he reflects, “but understanding yourself is key.”
BALANCE AND INTENTION: DANICA PATRICK’S REINVENTION
For Danica Patrick, one of the most successful women in the history of racing, performance isn’t about speed. It’s about harmony. “You can’t just push through forever,” she said. “At some point, your body or your mind will force you to pause.” Patrick’s evolution from professional athlete to entrepreneur embodies a modern definition of success. Drive, identity, and passions are all interweaved. Her approach reminds us that slowing down isn’t losing momentum; it’s building longevity.
RESILIENCE IN MOTION: DERECK LIVELY II’S MINDSET
For the Dallas Mavericks’ center, Dereck Lively II, mental steadiness is the quiet luxury that defines his game. “You just have to take it one step at a time and take it day by day,” he says. “It’s impossible to play a perfect game. You can’t dwell on mistakes. You have to use them to focus more.” His grounded philosophy of “progress over perfection, presence over pressure” is the true essence of peak performance.

THE MODERN LUXURY MINDSET
Across these stories lies a shared truth: mental performance is the new frontier of luxury living. It’s no longer about escaping pressure but refining how we respond to it. Today’s achievers invest in their minds the same way they invest in wellness, travel, or design: with intentionality. They’re embracing: • Morning routines that cultivate calm • Mindfulness as a performance tool • Recovery as strategy, not indulgence Luxury, in its truest form, is now psychological. It’s the ability to live with clarity, alignment, and resilience; qualities that elevate every other pursuit. CONTINUED >

In that moment, Larry felt purpose grab him by the shoulders. What began as a job transformed into a calling. The kettlebells, burpees, boxing, music, sweat, and raw energy... it all lit something inside him. “Every session became a celebration of strength, resilience, and growth,” he says. “I realized the impact we can have when we lead with passion and purpose.” That fire hasn’t dimmed once. Larry grew up in Toledo chasing the shadow of Michael Jordan; not with formal trainers or elite programs, but with the grit of a kid who wanted greatness badly enough to create it himself. He knocked on neighbors’ doors asking to use their hoops. He mimicked MJ’s footwork, studied his mechanics, and outworked every other kid on the block despite being the shortest one in the neighborhood. “I didn’t know I was training. I was just completely immersed in what I loved.” That mindset carried him to college basketball and eventually eight seasons playing professionally. What he lacked in representation, he made up for with relentless self-coaching; a trait he now instills in every athlete who trains with him. Larry’s leap into training pros began not in a gym, but at Scottsdale Fashion Square when he ran into Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe. He introduced himself. He offered boxing training. Bledsoe said yes. That summer changed the trajectory of Larry’s life. They built a hybrid program: strength, conditioning, explosive footwork, and Larry’s signature boxing system. Bledsoe reported to training camp in the best shape of his career, and ESPN took notice. “That article launched everything. It solidified my belief in innovative training and the importance of trust between athlete and coach.” From there, the pros kept coming. Deebo Samuel Jr. Devin Booker Tyson Chandler Eric Bledsoe TJ Warren D’Angelo Russell Simeon Rice Ask Larry what unites them and he doesn’t hesitate: “They are all RELENTLESS.”

These athletes don’t just work; they prepare with a level of discipline and consistency few ever witness. Deebo, for example, starts his day with strength work before seeing Larry for boxing, conditioning, and cross-training… then heads to the field to run routes. “He inspires other athletes. His preparation is one of a kind. Training a professional athlete is like two warriors uniting to conquer a giant. Iron sharpens iron. They arrive at a certain level and I bring my absolute best to match it.” His philosophy is built on a “fourth-quarter, first-quarter” mentality: an athlete should look as strong in the last moments of the game as they did the first. This is where mental fortitude becomes as crucial as physical ability. Larry trains mindset as much as mechanics: visualization, focus, resilience, strategy. “Elite performance blends both. They rise together.” One of the most formative experiences of Larry’s career happened while training Tyson Chandler in Aspen. Chandler brought his Knicks trainer, and the two exposed Larry to a new level of pre-session activation and preparation. “It was transformative. It deepened my understanding of what elevates performance and shaped the way I coach forever.” Larry trains clients ages 8 to 88 with the same energy he brings to a pro athlete. “Because we are all athletes,” he says. “Just in different seasons of life.” Young athletes learn movement, confidence, agility, and foundational athleticism. Adults tap into functional strength, longevity, mobility... and joy. And everyone, regardless of age, walks into a space described by clients as electric, accepting, uplifting, and impossible to put into words. “When someone combines strength training with group energy their results skyrocket.” Larry is known for telling clients to ditch the scale. “You’re building muscle and endurance. The scale might not move; but your body

composition will. Inches matter. Strength matters. How you feel matters.” The element people underestimate most? Consistency. “Just show up. I’ll take care of the rest. We build the endurance to carry us through every season. When someone finds both at the same time, everything elevates,” Larry says. “It becomes more than exercise. It becomes a lifestyle. A winning environment.” And that environment is what Club Larry has become: one of the Valley’s most inspiring, high-vibration fitness communities. Larry sees the vision he wrote down in 2024 coming to fruition; piece by piece, person by person. “I never gave up. I committed to my vision. And now the right people are showing up to help it become a reality,” he says. “I’m excited for 2026.” Sure, everyone wants to start the year strong... but Larry’s advice is simple: Find the purpose behind your goals. “The ‘why’ is what keeps you going on the hard days,” he says. “This journey is about creating a meaningful life... not just physical changes.” Club Larry in one word? “Special.” He continues... “It’s a place where people feel seen, supported, encouraged, and pushed to become their best.”

Justin Whalen didn’t become involved with D1 Training as an entrepreneur looking for a concept. He became involved as a dad. Years ago, when his daughter’s volleyball coach suggested supplemental strength and agility work, he brought her to D1 Scottsdale. The moment they walked through the doors, something clicked. “I thought, what would I have done athletically if I had something like this growing up.”
Justin played Division I baseball at the University of Portland and spent his childhood imagining a professional career. But the kind of structured strength training, speed work, and science-backed programming that kids have access to today simply didn’t exist. Watching his daughter thrive in that environment was transformative. He saw what D1 could unlock for athletes, and eventually, for adults as well. That experience grew into a calling, and today he owns D1 Training Arcadia, part of a national network of more than 90 locations facilitating more than a million athlete workouts each year. “There’s an athlete in every single person on the planet. Lifting weights is easy. Being dedicated to the work is what’s hard.” D1’s philosophy is rooted in athletic development rather than aesthetics. The structure mirrors the cadence used inside collegiate strength programs, which is why D1 hired a national panel of strength coaches to build their methodology. Every workout is programmed on a macro, meso, and micro cycle and every phase has intention behind it. “Our programming rotates movement patterns and energy systems throughout the week, a structure used by high-performing athletic departments across the country. The goal is always progression without overstress.” Muscles must be pushed, but they must also recover. Speed days. Agility days. Upperbody strength days. Lower-body strength days. It is a training architecture designed to create a complete, capable athlete rather than someone who simply looks fit. “You need to stress the body, but in different ways, to get max output.” This adaptability is part of what allows D1 to serve such a wide range of members. Professional athletes train beside adults who haven’t worked out in years, teens hoping to elevate their performance, and kids who are just beginning to understand movement. Every person begins with an assessment. Every person has different goals. “No one body is the same and no one person has the same goals. Our programs are designed to meet each individual athlete where they are.” CONTINUED >

According to Justin, youth training is one of the most misunderstood aspects of performance development. Many parents still fear weightlifting or worry about growth plates, but Justin stresses that D1’s age-based system is intentionally built around safety, science, and appropriate progression. Rookies ages seven to eleven focus on the fundamentals: movement patterns, coordination, body control, and speed. Devos ages twelve to fourteen introduce light resistance with a strict form-first approach as their bodies adapt and grow. Once athletes enter the Prep program at fifteen to eighteen, they transition into true strength training with appropriate load, technique, and supervision. Justin emphasizes that the Prep structure intentionally mirrors what athletes would experience in a collegiate Division I program. This tiered model aligns with National Strength and Conditioning Association guidelines, which show that properly supervised youth strength training is not only safe but enhances bone density, neuromuscular control, injury resilience, and long-term athletic development. “Every phase is grounded in science-backed training methodology, supported by D1’s extensive database of athletes across all levels, from youth to pros. We teach fitness for life without overly stressing the body.” Before strength becomes a priority, Justin says the emphasis should be on speed, agility, and nutrition, the foundations that build athletic capacity long before weights enter the picture. And beyond performance, he believes the single most important skill for youth athletes is time management. “Balancing school, sports, family, and life is what prepares them for future success.” On the adult side, the transformations Justin sees inside D1 are not just physical but deeply emotional. Men in their forties and fifties learn to train smarter rather than heavier. Women over thirty-five discover programming
64
B ACK STAGE | FI TNES S
that supports metabolism, hormones, stability, and long-term strength. And for the average adult, something shifts far earlier than the numbers. “Once you see that first drop in body fat or hit a lift you never thought you could do, everything changes.” Women and moms represent one of D1’s fastest-growing membership groups, and the reason is rooted in both science and lived experience. After age thirty, women lose up to 8% of muscle mass per decade, a decline that directly affects metabolism, insulin sensitivity, joint support, and hormone regulation. Strength training two to three times a week has been shown to slow or reverse that loss by increasing lean mass, stabilizing blood sugar, and improving estrogen balance. “It enhances bone density, which is particularly important because nearly 80% of osteoporosis cases occur in women.” Athletic-style training is especially impactful for women over thirty-five because it stimulates several systems at once. Short bursts of speed work activate fast-twitch muscle fibers, which are essential for power and longevity but naturally decline with age. Resistance training strengthens the skeletal system by placing load on bones, a scientifically proven way
to protect against fractures later in life. Interval work increases growth hormone and improves sleep quality, both of which become harder to regulate as estrogen and progesterone fluctuate. The mental benefits are equally well documented. “Research shows that strength training reduces anxiety, improves memory and focus, lowers stress levels, and increases overall wellbeing. Women begin trusting their bodies again. They learn proper form. They feel strong. They begin hitting numbers they never imagined possible.” For moms, the structure of D1 matters. The class is already built. Movements are coached. Recovery is embedded. There is no guesswork. The goal is not to create elite competitors. “It is to build resilient, functional, confident women who move through life feeling capable and strong.” And perhaps the biggest surprise for newcomers is that athlete-style training is more fun and more accessible than they expect. The environment is energetic. The workouts evolve constantly. The programming meets each person where they are. “There is a D1 athlete in every one of us. Time to go find it.” Mention PVCL for 25% off your first month: d1training.com

THE AUCTION THAT REWROTE TELEVISION HOW BARRETT-JACKSON BUILT A GLOBAL BROADCAST EMPIRE
68
C UR B A P P E A L | AUTO + MARIN E
Thirty years ago, Barrett-Jackson made a decision that would rewrite the future of the collector car world: it stepped onto the national stage and into America’s living rooms. What began as a bold experiment in 1996 became one of the longest-running live reality broadcasts in television history, transforming a regional auction into a cultural phenomenon and turning the high-octane energy of the auction block into must-watch TV. In 2026, Barrett-Jackson celebrates three decades on live television, now reaching more than 380 million homes through HISTORY and FYI. It’s a milestone shaped by visionary risk, unforgettable broadcast moments, and the leadership of Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson. In this exclusive interview, Mr. Jackson takes us back to the beginning, sharing the pivotal decisions, surprises, and moments that defined one of the most influential broadcasts in American culture.
Speedvision, Roger Werner and Bob Scanlon, saw the same potential we did; that the passion and excitement of the collector car world could captivate viewers right in their living rooms. What convinced me that Barrett-Jackson belonged on national television was the raw, unscripted drama of the auction block. It’s like a live sporting event where anyone can step onto the field and get in the game. I remember in those first conversations that set everything in motion, we all agreed it was groundbreaking. It wasn’t just about selling cars; it was about expanding the entire car collecting hobby. We pulled phenomenal ratings right from the start and changed the car collecting world forever.
WHEN YOU CONNECTED WITH THE FOUNDERS OF SPEEDVISION, WHAT CONVINCED YOU THAT BARRETT-JACKSON BELONGED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION?
My expectations were high because I believe so much in the auctions, but the actual response was a game-changing moment for us. The ratings were incredible, proving the public had an appetite for the energy and passion of a live auction. It showed us we were onto something massive. That breakthrough success is exactly what drove the decision for full, live coverage the very next year.
When I stepped into leadership in 1995 after my brother Brian passed away, I wanted to pursue the dream I shared with him to bring the auction’s incredible energy to a national audience. The founders of

IS THERE A MOMENT FROM THOSE EARLY TELECASTS THAT STILL GIVES YOU GOOSEBUMPS?
When those first television cameras rolled in for our live Speedvision broadcast in 1997, it was an absolute game-changer. The energy on the auction floor became electric instantly, transforming a great local event into a national production. We were no longer just selling cars to the people in the tent; we were putting on a live ‘rock and roll’ show for millions in their living rooms, which added a whole new level of excitement. That initial moment, when we realized the sheer scale of the audience, still gives me goosebumps.
FROM SPEEDVISION’S EARLY SETS AND SHOESTRING CREWS TO SPEED, FOX SPORTS1, THEN MORE THAN 100 HOURS OF LIVE COVERAGE ACROSS VELOCITY AND DISCOVERY, HOW DID YOU MAINTAIN BARRETT-JACKSON’S IDENTITY THROUGH EACH ERA?
Maintaining the Barrett-Jackson brand has always been about honoring my family and Tom Barrett’s legacy while having the vision to embrace innovation and let the market determine true value. The core ideals
70

of transparency and passion for the collector car community remain unchanged, but we’ve constantly evolved the experience. The greatest behind-the-scenes evolution was our bold transition to the ‘No Reserve’ auction format in 2005. It was a risk that fundamentally redefined our business, creating a level of excitement and transparency that reaffirmed who we are and positioned us as a global leader in the industry.
WHAT DOES THAT GLOBAL REACH FEEL LIKE?
The vast reach we have today, bringing the auction into millions of homes, truly underscores how the love for collector cars transcends borders and demographics. It’s an organic, global community, something we always envisioned when we first decided to put the auctions on live television back in the ‘90s. There have been many incredible TV moments over the years, so it’s very difficult to choose one. The sale of Carroll Shelby’s personal 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake for $5.5 million- three timeswas an incredible moment as was having Carroll Shelby join me on the block when bidders went head-to-head, captivating the arena with incredible energy.
Also, our commitment to philanthropy is a major point of pride, having raised over $164 million for various causes through our charity cars. Having former U.S. President, George W. Bush on the block for a charity sale was a deeply significant moment that I will never forget.
WHAT ELEMENTS WERE MOST CRITICAL IN CREATING THAT “LIVE ADRENALINE” EXPERIENCE?
Building that live adrenaline experience on TV was all about capturing the emotional arc of the auction block. The critical elements were speed, energy, and storytelling. We needed to present the action so quickly, with so much happening at once; the auctioneer’s chant, the bids flying in, the intense reactions of the bidders; that it felt like a sport, a head-tohead competition right up until the final hammer. That, combined with putting a camera on the vehicles themselves as they crossed the block, let viewers feel like they were right there in the arena. Producers have to determine the right mix of auction block coverage and other content, such as behind-the-scenes stories, to keep viewers engaged during varying speeds of bidding. Early on, we faced significant technical challenges in adapting traditional TV production to the unpredictable nature of live auctions, particularly in managing real-time data and graphics for displaying bids and vehicle information to a remote audience.
HOW HAS LIVE TELEVISION SHAPED THE COLLECTOR-CAR HOBBY ITSELF?
It changed the world of car collecting forever by pulling back the curtain on the auction process and bringing the excitement of ‘the block’ directly into living rooms across the globe. 2026 will mark our 30th year on television, and over that time, the shift has CONTINUED >

been monumental. Television has demystified the hobby for millions, creating transparency and building an enormous, engaged audience that wasn’t previously involved. We’ve certainly seen direct shifts: people watching from home learn the nuances of the market in real-time. This exposure fuels demand, educates bidders, and creates a significant cultural momentum around collector cars that simply didn’t exist before we broadcast the auctions live. It’s a key reason for the hobby’s explosive growth.
AFTER 30 YEARS, IS THERE A BIDDER STORY, SELLER MOMENT, OR CAR CROSSING THE BLOCK THAT BECAME AN UNEXPECTED “TELEVISION MOMENT?”
In 2013, the original Batmobile from the 1960s TV series, a custom-built masterpiece by George Barris, crossed the block. The anticipation was electric, the crowd was buzzing, and the energy in the arena was unlike anything I’d felt before.

AS NEW GENERATIONS DISCOVER BARRETT-JACKSON THROUGH TV AND STREAMING, WHAT SURPRISES YOU MOST ABOUT HOW YOUNGER FANS ENGAGE WITH THE BROADCASTS?
Definitely how younger fans, who grew up on ‘Fast & Furious’ and video games, are engaging with the technical side of the cars we sell on TV. They aren’t just looking at the aesthetics; they’re passionate about the performance, the ‘Resto-Mods’, and the engineering. We made the decision to bring in more modern and unique vehicles, like a record-setting Toyota Supra from the Fast & Furious movie, to engage a younger demographic, particularly Millennials and Gen Z enthusiasts, and their enthusiasm has been incredible. We also recently collaborated with popular YouTuber and restaurant entrepreneur ‘Stradman’ (James Neese), who showcased several of his supercars at the 2025 Scottsdale Fall Auction.
LOOKING BACK ON THREE DECADES AND AHEAD TO THE NEXT, HOW HAS SEEING BARRETT-JACKSON THROUGH THE LENS OF TV SHAPED YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE COMPANY’S CULTURAL IMPACT?
It is my sincere hope that my dream of making the auctions accessible to everyone lives on and this wonderful hobby continues to grow. When my parents, Russ and Nellie Jackson, along with Tom Barrett, started the Barrett-Jackson auctions more than 50 years ago in 1971, it was in part to share their love of collector cars with others... and they instilled that value in me. Today, I humbly consider myself a steward of the collector car hobby. It is important to me that the next generation experience and share their love of collector vehicles. barrett-jackson.com

The Year of Joy A self-dubbed Chief Joy Officer proves joy isn’t a feeling... it’s a strategy.
Joy is having a moment. Not the sugary, fleeting kind, but the grounded, resilient kind you build from the inside out. As we welcome 2026, we’re introducing you to Allegra Cohen, a TEDx speaker, author and Chief Joy Officer whose work is shaped by a lifetime of turning hard moments into fuel. “I teach people how to train for joy the way they train for success.” Her relationship with joy began years before she ever stepped onto major stages. At five years old, she performed on Al Alberts Showcase, a Star-Search–style TV show that showcased little talents with big dreams. “That stage taught me what it means to shine, not perform.”
But her path wasn’t a straight line. In fifth grade, she became the target of relentless bullying. Classmates would pour Elmer’s glue into her curly hair. She’d get her pants yanked down in chorus. And one time, a boy kicked her in the stomach. She remembers every detail with startling clarity. Childhood cruelty imprints itself, and those moments don’t disappear just because we grow up. They stay with us even into adulthood. Allegra spent nights lying awake, imagining the next day’s torment. And even now, she carries the memory of that ache. However, the memory is no longer a wound; rather, a source.

“I learned that I had to create and infuse joy into myself because I couldn’t count on receiving it outside of me. It’s a reminder of why joy matters and how early we learn to armor ourselves.” Studies in psychology agree with her instinct. Positive emotions don’t erase negative experiences; but according to the broaden-and-build theory, they build mental resources that help people withstand them. Joy doesn’t replace fear. It strengthens the mind so fear doesn’t win. So she crafted her own morning RICHual. As a kid, she’d wake early, dance around her room, write positive affirmations, and breathed through her fear. “What started as a clunky fifth grade survival strategy became the method I teach today.” At sixteen, life threw another curve... a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. Pain became a constant, yet she refused to let illness become her identity. “I couldn’t control Crohn’s, but I could control what I engaged with. That discipline of choosing where to place my focus eventually evolved into my signature concept of micro-JOYS®️- a concept I trademarked.” These small, everyday sparks can shift the nervous system in seconds. Research shows that even ten seconds of “savoring” reduces cortisol and anchors the brain back into the present. Science also shows that movement magnifies this effect. Dancing, shaking out your shoulders or changing posture can increase dopamine within 30-90 seconds. “Micro-JOYS don’t cost anything. They are right in front of you. You just have to be willing to look for them.” Before she became a national voice on joy she was an actor and producer working with names like James Franco, Adrien Brody and Billy Crystal. She built a career behind the camera and in front of it, including producing a film that won Best Picture at the Phoenix Film Festival. She calls herself a professional asker, collecting every rejection into what she calls her “rejection collection.” “Every brave ask builds resilience.” Her work now is expansive and national. She was invited to lead a session for the U.S. Navy’s Warrior Toughness Initiative, speaking to Squadron HSM-60. “I taught the nation’s bravest how to be brave in a different way.” Even the Navy learned that resilience isn’t about tightening; it’s about softening. And research supports this. Positive emotion widens cognitive flexibility, increases performance under stress and improves recovery after intense alert states. CONTINUED >

“Being brave doesn’t mean staying hard. It means staying open.” She watched hardened service members breathe, laugh, shake off tension and rediscover their capacity for presence. It reaffirmed something she had known since childhood. “We all need tools to go from pressure to presence, from high alert back to home.” Allegra’s TEDx talk, centered on micro-JOYS and attention as power, continues to expand her reach. And her debut book is a guide for anyone craving a braver, lighter, more intentional way of being. “You can honor the hard without silencing the joy.”
“You can honor the hard without silencing the joy.” Joy, she notes, has become more than a feeling. It has become the cultural word of the year. Google Trends reports that searches for “joy,” “joy practice” and “joy coach” have surged more than 300%. “You cannot always control what happens, but you can always train how you respond.” As the new year begins, her invitation is simple: choose joy on purpose. Not because life is easy, but because life is life. “Joy is not a mood. Joy is a strategy.”
5 MICRO-JOY PRACTICES TO START TODAY (NOT TOMORROW)
• Say it before the world rushes in The moment you open your eyes, whisper: “Today is a great day.” This anchors your brain into positive expectancy, a state linked to improved focus and emotional regulation. • Do one 3-4-5 breath Inhale for three Hold for four Exhale for five A longer exhale signals the vagus nerve to shift you out of fight-or-flight. • Spot one micro-JOY A sunbeam. A warm mug. A color you love. • Share a joy with someone Positive emotion is contagious. • Choose one brave act Small bravery builds confidence daily.

DEAR MATCHMAKER by Cat
DEAR MATCHMAKER, Discreet Advice for Love, Dating, and Partnership in Paradise Valley When the calendar turns, we feel something shift. January has a way of pressing pause on the noise and letting you see your life with fresh eyes. It is the moment when people stop and ask themselves what actually feels meaningful, what feels aligned, and what needs to change. Most of the people I work with are not struggling to meet someone. They are struggling to meet someone who fits the life they have already built. They want connection that feels grounded. They want companionship without unnecessary chaos. They want someone who makes life easier, not heavier. Here are two questions I hear often from clients at the start of a new year.
Q: My schedule is unpredictable. I travel. I work long hours. I do not have the luxury of a normal week. How can a relationship grow when life never slows down? A: The truth is that a stable schedule is not what builds a relationship.
Reliability builds a relationship. When two busy people date, the foundation is not the amount of time they have; it is how they treat the time they get. Clear communication matters. Following through matters. Keeping your word matters. Someone who is consistent will always be a stronger match than someone who has more free time but does less with it. The right person brings order to your world, even if life stays busy.
Q: Shared interests are easy. The harder part is how someone behaves in the small moments. Privacy. Awareness. Manners. How do I know what is minor and what is a legitimate concern? A: Those details are never small. The way someone moves through
the world tells you more than a list of hobbies or a perfectly curated lifestyle. If their behavior consistently goes against your values it is not going to level out with time. Compatibility shows up in everyday choices, not big romantic gestures. If someone makes your life feel chaotic or unpredictable, believe that information. As you step into the new year, remember that the right relationship brings a sense of steadiness. It adds to your life instead of draining it. Notice the people who make room for you. Notice the people who bring ease to your days. Notice the ones who fit naturally into the world you already live in. The new year is not about finding perfection. It is about choosing alignment. It is about choosing someone whose presence makes your life feel more like you.

INSIGHTS FROM NICOLE NEWMAN, SIMPLE BLISS DESIGNS
YOUR 2026 FLORAL FORECAST
In the world of Arizona floral design, few names carry the trust, taste, and tenure of Nicole Newman. As the creative mind behind Simple Bliss Designs, she has become the Valley’s quiet authority on color, composition, and the art of crafting arrangements that feel both modern and deeply rooted in the desert. Her clients rely on her intuition, her understanding of climate, and her ability to translate trends into timeless design. So as 2026 approaches, we turned to Nicole for the patterns she’s seeing take shape. What colors will dominate homes and weddings? Which stems will thrive in the desert? What textures and shapes will define the year ahead? Her answers create a clear, thoughtful roadmap for anyone looking to style florals in a way that feels elevated, intentional, and distinctly Arizona.

WHAT’S TRENDING IN 2026
Sculptural, drought-conscious blooms define the year. Protea, king protea, leucadendron, banksia, kangaroo paw, anthurium, trailing amaranthus, dried pods, bleached grasses, and hybrid preserved stems. These stems echo desert architecture and thrive in Arizona’s climate. “They photograph beautifully and they survive,” Nicole says.
CLIMATE MATTERS
Arizona’s extreme climate plays a measurable role in floral longevity. High temperatures, strong UV exposure, and very low humidity accelerate evaporation from petals, which is why delicate blooms wilt so quickly here. Flowers with thicker, waxier, or more fibrous stems retain moisture longer, allowing them to stay vibrant even in harsh conditions. Tropical varieties naturally withstand heat, making them ideal for summer, while winter’s cooler air supports structured greens and sturdier foliage. Protea, eucalyptus, orchids, anthurium, succulents, and woody branches consistently perform well because their anatomy is designed to conserve water. More fragile stems such as tulips, peonies during warm spells, delphinium, lilac, sweet peas, and gerbera tend to falter, especially in direct sun. “Longevity in the desert is all about biology,” Nicole says. “The flowers that thrive here are simply built for it.”
UNEXPECTED COMBINATIONS
“Fresh pairings include protea with sweet peas, succulents with ranunculus, and dried palms with orchard fruits,” she says. • Terracotta with ice blue • Sage with electric coral • Deep plum with chartreuse • Dusty lavender with sun-faded gold
SEASONAL COLOR MOODS • • • •
Winter: Stone blue, pewter, olive, deep evergreen, cranberry Spring: Chartreuse, blush apricot, lilac, dewy greens Summer: Sun-forged gold, cactus green, teal, rust, electric coral Early Fall: Burnt sienna, terracotta, plum, ochre, muted sage

FLORALS & WELLNESS
Florals have a measurable impact on mental wellbeing. Studies show that fresh flowers lower cortisol, boost positive mood, and create an immediate sense of calm. Nicole says it’s because flowers invite you to pause to notice color, texture, scent, and something living in your space. It’s a small, sensory ritual that shifts the energy of a room and your state of mind. CONTINUED >

Implementing certain colors into your home or f loral palette isn’t just aesthetic; there’s actually a science behind it. Studies in environmental psychology show that soft greens and blues mimic natural landscapes, which the brain interprets as safe and restorative, lowering stress and heart rate. Lavender-based hues have been linked to reduced anxiety and improved relaxation responses in both neurological and aromatherapy research. Warm neutrals and soft whites help regulate the nervous system by creating low visual stimulation, reducing cognitive load and mental fatigue. When used together, these tones create an environment that supports emotional balance, promotes calm, and subtly encourages a more regulated state of mind. Nicole suggests approaching florals as a weekly wellness ritual: choose one small floral moment each week, select stems that match your mood, and arrange them with intention. Refresh the water midweek, recut the stems to extend their life,
84
D E C OR T R E N D S | HO M E + D E SIGN
and at week’s end, repurpose or press the blooms as a gentle way to close the cycle.
WHAT’S IN AND WHAT’S OUT
Nicole’s floral pick for the season is the protea: bold, sculptural, long-lasting, and striking enough to stand as a design piece on its own. It thrives in desert environments, adds instant artistry to any arrangement, and brings the kind of structure and personality that defines modern Arizona style. As for what’s out... the era of candy-colored, perfectly symmetrical Instagram bouquets is fading fast, along with foam-heavy, cookie-cutter arrangements that feel manufactured rather than meaningful. In their place, designers are embracing textural, regionally influenced florals that honor place and climate. “Arrangements now have intention, movement, and air, with shapes that feel organic rather than engineered. It’s a shift toward authenticity and artistry, and away from trends designed only for the camera.”
WHERE FLORALS BELONG AT HOME
“Place florals where people pause, not just where they look.” • Entry table: tall stem or sculptural bowl • Dining table: low, horizontal arrangement • Kitchen island: casual greenery • Bedside: calming bud vase • Bathroom: succulents or eucalyptus
AN EASY FORMULA FOR BEGINNERS
Nicole’s go-to formula for effortless arranging is the 1–3–5 Rule. Start with one focal bloom to anchor the design, add three supportive stems for balance, and finish with five greens or textural fillers to create depth. The magic comes from using odd numbers, varied heights, and a simple vase; a combination that instantly makes any arrangement feel polished and intentional. Start with warm neutrals or mineral tones. Layer in seasonal color. Use sculptural lines, negative space, and intentional asymmetry. “Think museum piece, not bouquet,” she says.

Unpacking 2026’s biggest aesthetic trends with clarity, honesty, and surgical insight.
As a Harvard-trained plastic surgeon in Arcadia, I see every “next big thing” long before it hits your feed. Some trends genuinely change faces… and lives. Others mostly change your credit card balance. Here are my picks for treatments getting all the buzz in 2026, each rated on how effective they truly are, along with what I recommend when a trend doesn’t quite live up to the hype.
ARTICLE BY RANDY O. CRAFT, MD, MBA, FACS
The Ratings are In...
“The ‘filler era’ gave us beautiful results…and also some over-filled
faces. Reversing poorly placed or excessive filler with hyaluronidase, then rebuilding volume in a more anatomical, restrained way (often with fat, biostimulatory fillers, and good skin work) is a trend I love.” 88
T R E N D SE T T E R | HEALTH + WE LLN E SS
Blepharoplasty (Upper & Lower Eyelid Lift) – 10/10 A well-done eyelid lift is one of the highest-satisfaction procedures in all of aesthetic surgery. It can erase the chronically “tired” look, open the eyes, and make you look rested without making you look “done.” If you’re not ready for surgery: Medical-grade eye creams and energy-based treatments can help, but nothing non-surgical comes close to the results of a precise blepharoplasty.
Facial Fat Transfer/Autologous Fat Grafting – 9/10
CO₂ Laser Resurfacing – 8/10
Dissolvable Filler Reversal + “Natural Volumization” Protocol – 9/10
Using your own purified fat to restore volume is a powerful way to rebuild youthful contours and soften hollowing in the cheeks, temples, and under-eye region. It can also improve skin quality over time thanks to stem-cell–rich components. When it’s not ideal: For a subtle, “testdrive” change, a small amount of hyaluronic acid filler or a biostimulatory option like Radiesse is often a better first step.
CO₂ laser is a workhorse for serious texture issues; etched lines around the mouth, acne scarring, and sun damage that no cream can touch. The trade-off is real downtime, and while results can be impressive, they typically don’t match the depth or longevity of a well-executed phenol–croton oil peel. For true regeneration (10/10): In my practice, phenol–croton oil peeling remains the gold standard for long-lasting resurfacing, with results that can last a decade or more. CO₂ is excellent, but the peel goes deeper and lasts longer for patients who need a true skin “reset.”
The “filler era” gave us beautiful results… and also some over-filled faces. Reversing poorly placed or excessive filler with hyaluronidase, then rebuilding volume in a more anatomical, restrained way (often with fat, biostimulatory fillers, and good skin work) is a trend I love. If you’re filler-curious but nervous: Start with a conservative, anatomy-driven plan that balances cheeks, lips, and chin together rather than chasing a single area.

Mini Neck Lift & Submental Liposuction – 8/10
Breast Implant Exchange or Explant & Lift – 8/10
Hormone-Optimization Bio-Aesthetic Protocols – 7/10
A clean jawline is the new status symbol. For the right candidate, usually someone with good skin elasticity and early jowling or neck fullness, a focused neck lift with precision liposuction can sharpen the profile beautifully. How it becomes a 10/10: When I add Renuvion helium plasma tightening, we’re not just removing fat, we’re tightening the deeper support structures and redraping the skin from within. This creates sharper definition, longer-lasting lift, and can even delay the need for a full lower face and neck lift.
Many women are re-evaluating implants; whether to update older devices, adjust size, or remove them entirely and lift the breast. When approached thoughtfully, this can be both a health decision and a powerful aesthetic reset. If you’re considering a change, a detailed consult with imaging and measurements is essential; for some, fat transfer offers a middle ground between implants and going fully implant-free.
When hormones are truly out of balance, careful optimization under the guidance of a qualified physician can improve energy, sexual health, body composition, and even how skin and hair behave. But this is medicine, not a spa menu item. A safer, smarter version is thorough lab work, individualized dosing, and regular monitoring; not one-size-fits-all pellets or generic “anti-aging” cocktails.
Temporal Brow Lift (Endoscopic) – 8/10
CryoTouchMD Trichocyte Protocol – 8/10
Aerolase Facials Alternating with LaseMD Ultra – 9/10
Endoscopic temporal lifting subtly elevates the outer brow and opens the eye area with tiny hidden incisions in the hairline. Done well, it avoids the “surprised” look and instead restores the natural, youthful brow position you had years ago. Alternative for early changes: Neuromodulators can offer a light “chemical brow lift,” but the effect is temporary and much more subtle.
This minimally invasive scalp protocol uses targeted cryotherapy with hair-focused serums to wake up sluggish follicles, improve circulation, and calm inflammation without needles, anesthesia, or downtime. It’s a smart option for men and women noticing early thinning who want something more powerful than shampoo alone but aren’t ready for surgery or a transplant. This is best used as a series of treatments paired with a medical-grade at-home regimen (and, when appropriate, prescription hair meds) to support thicker, healthier hair while you carry on with normal life the same day.
For Arizonans, alternating Aerolase “laser facials” with LaseMD Ultra is an incredibly effective, low-downtime way to rehab sun-stressed skin. Aerolase calms redness, pigment, and acne with virtually no downtime, while LaseMD Ultra adds light resurfacing to treat fine lines, sun spots, and texture with only 1–3 days of mild roughness. Done as a series, this “skin gym” protocol steadily reverses desert damage, keeps melasma and redness controlled, and builds collagen so your skin genuinely improves year over year.

Collagen Peptide Infusion Treatments – 3/10 IV “collagen drips” sound appealing, but the body doesn’t absorb collagen in a way that directly plumps the skin. In reality, you’re paying for amino acids and hydration, not increased collagen. What works better: A high-protein diet, daily SPF, prescription retinoids, and proven collagen-stimulating treatments like lasers, microneedling, or deep chemical peels deliver far more measurable results.

Radiofrequency Microneedling – 4/10 RF microneedling promises tightening and collagen, but its risk–reward has shifted. The FDA recently issued a safety communication after reports of burns, scarring, facial fat loss, disfigurement, nerve injury, and cases requiring surgical repair. Until clearer guidance and long-term safety data exist, I prefer well-established options like fractional lasers, deep chemical peels, or non-RF microneedling in expert hands; treatments with strong results and a far lower margin for complications.

Five Gam e-C h anging Eye-Ca re Innovations to Watc h in 2 026
PERFORMANCE STARTS WITH VISION ARTICLE BY DR. JAY ARORA, OWNER, ARORA EYE PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARAH VITEL PHOTOGRAPHY We talk about every part of the body when it comes to health. Heart. Hormones. Skin. Recovery. But the eyes; the thing athletes, founders, and high-performers rely on every second; often get left out of the conversation.

I work with many pro athletes and high-performers, and while they generously contribute autographed decor to our PV space, one thing I consistently notice is how often people overlook their eyes while focusing on every other part of their health. Your vision impacts every moment of your day. When it’s strained, dry, or not functioning at its best, everything else suffers. My goal is to change that. I want people to treat their eyes with the same intention they bring to their training, their recovery, and their overall wellness. There are incredible advancements happening in eye care right now, and many of them are accessible, effective, and designed to support long-term comfort and clarity. Here are five innovations buzzing in 2026.

AMNIOTIC MEMBRANE GRAFTS This is what people turn to when a dry eye isn’t just annoying but life-disrupting. A regenerative membrane is placed gently on the eye, calming inflammation and actually helping the surface heal. Why get it: If dry eye is affecting your comfort, clarity, or day-to-day performance, and regular drops aren’t cutting it, this treatment helps restore the surface instead of just soothing it. It’s especially helpful for people whose eyes feel constantly irritated, red, or sensitive.

COLLAGEN PUNCTAL PLUGS A tiny, dissolvable plug is placed in the tear duct so your natural tears stay on the eye longer. It’s simple, painless, and temporary. Why get it: If you want an easy, low-commitment way to see whether tear retention will help your dryness, this is the go-to. It’s perfect for people who experience fluctuating discomfort but aren’t ready for permanent solutions. CONTINUED >

AUTOLOGOUS SERUM DROPS These personalized drops are made from your own blood serum, which means they mimic natural tears better than anything over the counter. Why get it: If your dryness is linked to autoimmune issues, chronic inflammation, or surface damage, these drops support real healing. Patients who feel like “nothing works anymore” often see their first meaningful improvement here.
RED LIGHT THERAPY A wellness-forward option that uses gentle light to support cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and improve the glands that stabilize your tears. Why get it: If your eyes feel tired, inflamed, or screen-fatigued, this is an easy, non-invasive reset. It’s great for people looking to add a restorative treatment to their routine without downtime.
LACRIFILL A next-gen approach to moisture retention. Instead of inserting a plug, we inject a soft hyaluronic-acid gel into the tear duct. It adapts to your anatomy and naturally dissolves over months. Why get it: If you’re tired of constant drops and want long-lasting, low-maintenance relief, Lacrifill is the best “set it and forget it” option. Patients often feel instant improvement and love that it lasts three to six months. aroraeye.com

THE COST OF DEVOTION
When Caregiving Becomes Caregiver Burnout
ARTICLE BY JAMIE SHERMAN, TEAM SELECT HOME CONCIERGE
98
H OU SE CA LL | HEALTH + WE LLN E SS
Caring for an aging parent is one of the most profound acts of love, yet it is the role families are least prepared for. Behind the casual check-ins and “I’m fine,” adult children carry emotional and logistical pressure that would overwhelm most people. Even high-achieving families find themselves facing a responsibility that is intimate, high stakes, and deeply personal.
Ring in savings this new year! My team and I can help get you started on that “save more money” resolution. Stop by my office and let’s see how we can help with your insurance needs.
As the Director of Concierge Business Development at Team Select Home Concierge, I see this reality unfold. Waiting for a crisis does not protect independence. It erodes it. Preparation is the greatest expression of care. Our team is invited into the moments most people never see. The quiet worry at the kitchen table. The subtle changes in memory or mobility that families attribute to normal aging. The strain of juggling careers, raising children, managing complex households, and trying to safeguard a parent’s well-being. The burden is significant, and it is measurable. More than 53 million family caregivers are experiencing burnout, and the financial impact exceeds $600 billion in lost wages. Early signs of caregiver burnout appear quietly and often go unnoticed. Tasks begin slipping. Patience shortens. Emotional resilience fades. Resentment takes hold. Families begin accepting “good enough” care because they are exhausted. These signals reveal that the demands of caregiving have exceeded what even the most capable person can sustain.

Beneath these behaviors sits the most powerful motivator of all: the fear of failing. Adult children replay the same questions. What if I miss something important? What if I make the wrong decision? What if this is not what my parent would have wanted? Meanwhile, aging parents often work hard to conceal their challenges. They laugh off forgetfulness. They hide falls. They downplay weight loss. They say they’re just tired. Families want to believe them, but decline rarely resolves itself. Missed signs are what lead to emergencies. And the risks are real. For example, a quarter of adults over 65 experience a fall each year, often resulting in hospitalization. In addition, up to 30% of home care patients experience preventable medication mistakes that send them to the emergency room. Resources do not always lessen the burden. In many successful families, they heighten it. High standards often lead to a belief that one should manage everything alone. But dignity and safety come not from doing more, but from partnering with a coordinated clinical team. Concierge care is not an admission of failure. It is an investment in stability, in clarity, and in the preservation of the family’s emotional future.
WHAT CONCIERGE CARE PROVIDES
RN-Led Oversight A dedicated RN Care Manager becomes the family’s single point of contact. This clinical expert coordinates specialists, manages communication, oversees medication plans, and ensures every detail is aligned. Proactive Safety Our team evaluates and mitigates risks long before a crisis occurs. Medication concerns, mobility changes, and environmental hazards are identified early, allowing families to stay ahead rather than scramble from behind. Dignified Independence Professional support strengthens independence. When medical and daily needs are met consistently and correctly, older adults maintain more control and confidence in their lives. It is not the loss of independence. It is the preservation of it. Most families reach a turning point after a small accident or a moment of realization that everything feels harder than it should. When a licensed nurse steps in, the relief is immediate and profound.

Plan. Protect. Empower. WE DO MORE THAN CREATE ESTATE PLANNING DOCUMENTS - WE HELP BUILD LEGACIES. EARLY WARNING SIGNS YOUR FAMILY SHOULD NOT IGNORE
• Increasing forgetfulness or repeating questions • Reaching for walls, furniture, or doorframes while walking • Missed or duplicated medications • Weight loss, dehydration, or a sudden change in appetite Families overlook these clues because they see them every day. A trained clinician sees them immediately. In my work with distinguished families, I know how expertly managed care restores stability and harmony. The reassurance of knowing your loved one is protected, monitored, and clinically supported is priceless. It allows families to return to their roles as sons, daughters, and grandchildren instead of exhausted caregivers. Investing in concierge home care is an investment in healthspan, the quality of the years ahead rather than simply the length of them. It is one of the most meaningful decisions a family can make to protect dignity, preserve legacy, and ensure the well-being of the people who shaped their lives. Before you go juicing, here’s what you need to know
Juicing may look like a wellness win, but hormonally and metabolically it works very differently than most people expect. In my practice, patients often feel great with the first sip, then end up hungrier, moodier, or more fatigued as the day goes on. The reason is simple physiology, and here’s what science actually shows. MYTH: Juicing “resets” metabolism FACT: There is no research demonstrating that juice cleanses, reset or repair metabolic function. Metabolism is shaped by age, hormones, muscle mass, sleep and overall diet quality. Harvard School of Public Health and National Strength and
Conditioning Association research shows that stable blood sugar, adequate protein and resistance training have far greater metabolic impact than any juice. MYTH: Juice digests “cleaner” than whole fruits and vegetables FACT: Removing fiber changes the hormonal response entirely. Studies published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition show that fruit juice raises blood sugar significantly faster than whole fruit. Fiber slows digestion, steadies glucose release and supports gut hormones involved in fullness. Without it, the body absorbs natural sugars rapidly, which can worsen cravings, fatigue and insulin resistance.
ARTICLE BY HEATHER SARAN, D.O., BRIGHT ENDOCRINOLOGY
104 C ULIN A RY C R E AT ION S | F OOD + BE VE RAGE
MYTH: Juicing helps balance hormones, especially during perimenopause and menopause FACT: High sugar juices often make hormonal swings worse. As estrogen decreases in the forties and fifties, fat storage shifts toward the abdomen. Belly fat increases cortisol, which increases insulin resistance. Spiking blood sugar with juice compounds this effect. For many women in midlife, protein and fiber are far more effective for hormone stability than pure juice. MYTH: Juicing “detoxes” the body FACT: Your liver and kidneys detox continuously without assistance. NIH research clearly shows that these organs metabolize and eliminate toxins around the clock. No juice accelerates this process. Juicing can provide antioxidants, but it does not detoxify the body. MYTH: All produce is equally healthy when juiced FACT: Some juices rapidly flood the bloodstream with sugar. Pineapple, mango, grapes, and beets create a high glycemic load when juiced, which is important for anyone with insulin resistance, PCOS, thyroid concerns, or perimenopausal weight changes. People prone to kidney stones should also be cautious with high-oxalate juices such as spinach and Swiss chard. The National Kidney Foundation notes that oxalates are safe for most but can raise stone risk in those predisposed. MYTH: Bottled juices are just as potent as fresh FACT: Antioxidants degrade quickly. Many nutrients break down as juice sits on the shelf. Fresh or cold-pressed options maintain more of their original vitamin and phytonutrient content. MYTH: Juicing is the best way to get nutrients quickly FACT: Blending whole produce may support hormones more effectively. Smoothies retain fiber and allow for the addition of protein, healthy fats and seeds that stabilize blood sugar. For busy schedules, smoothie ingredients can be prepped and frozen ahead, making them more practical than daily juicing. CONTINUED >

MYTH: Fiber is mainly for digestion and does not influence hormones FACT: Research across major journals shows fiber is essential for hormonal and metabolic balance. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirms it slows digestion and prevents blood-sugar spikes; the Journal of Nutrition shows it boosts gut hormones like GLP-1 and PYY that control appetite; Nutrition and Cancer links higher fiber intake to healthier estrogen metabolism; and NIH research shows fiber feeds gut bacteria that produce anti-inflammatory short-chain fatty acids. When produce is juiced and fiber is removed, these benefits disappear and natural sugars hit the bloodstream quickly. Blending whole produce preserves fiber and supports the hormonal pathways that stabilize blood sugar, appetite, and metabolism.

INSIDE THEIR Wellness Bags We asked some of our PVCL health and wellness partners to share the habits, tools, and practices they personally rely on. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only about 24% of U.S. adults meet the federal guidelines for both aerobic exercise and
muscle-strengthening activity. With most adults falling short of recommended wellness benchmarks, this roundup offers a clear look at what top experts genuinely prioritize in their own lives. As you’ll see, many of their perspectives align in meaningful and consistent ways.
PVCL’s trusted pros share the habits, tools, and rituals they personally rely on.

DAILY MOVEMENT Motion is lotion. Gentle, consistent activity boosts circulation, supports neuromuscular health, and reduces pain without stressing your joints. Walking, stretching, swimming, or light strength work all count.
RESTORATIVE SLEEP Restorative sleep is one of the most powerful tools for recovery. Seven to nine hours a night supports muscle repair, cognitive function, hormone balance, and pain perception. Quality sleep strengthens the body’s natural healing systems and enhances overall wellness.
DR. MICHAEL WOLFF
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY NUTRITION What you eat directly influences your body’s ability to heal. Anti-inflammatory nutrition reduces systemic inflammation and supports tissue repair. Fill your plate with whole foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and colorful fruits and vegetable.
Southwest Spine and Sports
In a world crowded with quick fixes and passing wellness trends, true health still comes back to the fundamentals. Dr. Michael Wolff of Southwest Spine and Sports highlights his essential pillars that strengthen the body’s ability to repair, recover, and thrive.
MIND-BODY PRACTICE Stress levels, emotional well-being, and pain perception all influence one another. Mind-body practices such as breathwork, meditation, mindfulness, and gentle yoga help reduce stress, support recovery, and improve overall function.
FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH Functional strength, core stability, and posture form the foundation of mobility and longevity. Strengthening the muscles that support your spine and joints helps prevent injury, improves posture, and enhances daily movement.

WHOLE-FOOD, PROTEIN-RICH MEALS Wellness starts with nourishment. I focus on whole, minimally processed foods and aim for around 30 grams of protein per meal and around 1g of protein per pound of ideal body weight per day.
STRENGTH TRAINING AS NON-OPTIONAL Muscle is medicine. Strength training 3–4 times per week is the cornerstone of my physical health supporting metabolism, bone density, and longevity. It’s not about perfection in the gym; it’s about showing up and building strength for life.
FUNCTIONAL LAB TESTING I believe in understanding your body from the inside out. Comprehensive labs- from hormone panels to gut testingreveal early imbalances long before they show up as symptoms. Knowledge is empowering, and this data allows for a truly personalized approach to wellness.
SHERIDAN JAMES, MD Concierge Primary Care
Dr. Sheridan James’ concierge practice blends western and functional medicine to address root causes and promote long-term wellness. She prioritizes prevention, precision medicine, and a deeply personalized doctor– patient relationship, made possible by the time and access that a concierge model provides. Here Sheridan shares wellness practices she swears by.
PRACTICING GRATITUDE Wellness extends beyond physical health. Starting or ending the day with gratitude- whether journaling or simply reflecting- keeps me grounded, present, and focused on what matters most. Emotional health is as important as any lab result.
SAUNA SESSIONS If I had to name my ultimate wellness luxury, it’s the sauna. The ritual of heat exposure helps detoxification, boosts circulation, supports recovery, and provides a few quiet minutes of stillness. It has also been shown to help prevent cognitive decline. CONTINUED >

INTERVAL EXERCISES I recommend 45 minutes of interval cardio 5-6 days a week. Alternate 30-60 seconds of high-intensity effort with a minute of recovery, aiming for about 85% of your maximum heart rate, calculated as 220 minus your age.
FACIAL AND SKIN CARE Start the morning and finish the day with facial skincare and self massage of facial muscles to relax and relieve stress and cleanse facial pores.
DENTAL CARE Taking time for oral hygiene is linked to overall health, cardiac health, and nutritional status. Gum care, flossing, and gentle brushing with careful attention to avoid substances that erode enamel or cause gum recession.
FEED THE SOUL Make time for the things that bring you happiness and fulfillment. Daily responsibilities and work stress can take over, so carve out time to focus on activities that bring you joy and allow you to prioritize yourself.

ESCAPE YOUR COMFORT ZONE Trying new things, whether learning a language, traveling somewhere unfamiliar, or picking up a new skill or sport, challenges both cognitive and physical limits. Novel experiences strengthen resilience, expand your skillset, and support overall mental health.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MORNING RITUAL My day starts with hot water, lemon, ginger, and turmeric. It lowers inflammation, supports digestion, and gives me steady clarity. I follow it with Chaga mushroom coffee for clean energy without the crash keeping me sharp and centered all day.
THE MLS-M7 LASER FOR PAIN & INFLAMMATION When I feel stiff or achy, I turn to the MLS-M7. This is a class IV medical laser designed to penetrate deeper tissues and target pain and inflammation at the source. It works fast, reduces flare-ups, and keeps minor joint or back irritations from slowing me down.
MEDICAL-GRADE RED LIGHT THERAPY (REDVIVE) RedVive is the only red light system I use. It’s a medicalgrade, physician-backed class II device supported by clinical data. I use it morning and night to improve HRV, support cellular repair, reduce stress, and enhance sleep.
PROTEIN FOR STRENGTH & LONGEVITY I prioritize protein every day. I use my wife’s savory protein seasoning on meals and have a cup of protein broth at lunch. Supporting strong muscle and bone health is one of the most reliable ways to age well and stay active.
DR. ASHU GOYLE
Double Board-Certified Anesthesiologist and Pain/ Regenerative Medicine Specialist, Integrated Spine, Pain and Wellness Dr. Ashu Goyle is known for his minimally invasive, non-narcotic approach to long-term pain relief. He believes pain is the body’s signal of deeper dysfunction and that lasting recovery comes from treating root causes, not masking symptoms. His integrative method combines regenerative medicine with the body’s natural repair systems; results last for years rather than months. Here he shares his wellness rituals for longevity and pain prevention.
WALKING IN NATURE My routine is simple: strength training to protect muscle and bone, and walking outdoors to calm my nervous system and clear my mind. This mix supports mobility, mood, and long-term health more than any trend or quick fix.

MY ANTI-AGING SECRET FOR JOINT & SPINE HEALTH I use regenerative treatments like bone marrow therapy. Anti-aging isn’t only about skin; your joints, spine, and bones age too. Bringing Sexy Back 21 Questions with Chef Jason Franey of Scottsdale’s Sexy Roman In true PVCL fashion, every month we play 21 Questions with an esteemed Valley chef, and this month, we’re bringing sexy back. Consider it your seductive start to the new year. Meet Chef Jason Franey, a James Beard– nominated talent and Food & Wine Best New Chef. He’s a culinary mind sharp enough to shape a city and soulful enough to redefine Italian-American cooking. Today, he stands at the helm of Old Town’s fresh dining destination, Sexy Roman, the mischievous, transportive Italian hot spot inside the W Scottsdale.
1. WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU KNEW YOU WANTED TO BECOME A CHEF? When I was 15, I realized cooking could take me anywhere. Everyone around me was stressing about college paths that didn’t guarantee anything, and that never made sense to me. I liked being in kitchens, my mom worked in restaurants, and cooking felt like something I would enjoy building a life around.
2. YOU TRAINED UNDER DANIEL HUMM AT ELEVEN MADISON PARK. WHAT LESSONS FROM THAT EXPERIENCE STILL GUIDE YOU TODAY? Discipline and perseverance. Those two values shape everything I do.

3. “SEXY ROMAN” IS A BOLD NAME. WHAT DOES “SEXY” MEAN TO YOU WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD? Textures and flavors that feel sensual, layered, and inviting. Food that pulls you in before you even realize it.
4. HOW DID YOU BUILD THE SEXY ROMAN MENU?
By honoring the classics of Italian American cooking while looking in the rear-view mirror. I wanted to respect the heritage, keep what’s timeless, and put a modern, personal spin on it.
5. WHAT IS YOUR DEFINITION OF PERFECT ITALIAN FOOD? Simple and delicious.
6. HOW DO YOU BRING THAT BALANCE TO YOUR DISHES?
Keep it familiar enough that guests feel instantly comfortable, but refined enough that cooks can geek out over it.
CLUB LARRY: WHERE GRIT MEETS GREATNESS. Group Fitness
7. WHAT DISH BEST CAPTURES THE SPIRIT OF SEXY ROMAN? The Lumache.
8. YOU’VE COOKED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. HOW HAS EACH CITY SHAPED YOUR CULINARY STYLE? Each place has its own bounty and culture. That’s what drives creativity. Cooking with what the land gives you and learning from the people who live there.
9. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PASTA ON THE MENU? The squid ink pasta. Its texture, subtle seafood notes, and seashell shape hold the sauce beautifully. Classic done right. CONTINUED >

10. HOW DO YOU INSPIRE YOUR TEAM? Respect earns respect. I invest in training, lead by example, and never ask anyone to do something I wouldn’t do myself.
11. HOW DO YOU STAY INSPIRED?
No one will ever know everything about cooking. Somewhere in Morocco there’s a grandmother using ingredients I’ve never heard of. Every culture has something to teach you... even a new way to peel a carrot. Food knowledge is infinite. The world is the literal oyster.
12. YOU’VE BEEN NAMED FOOD AND WINE BEST NEW CHEF, A THREE-TIME JAMES BEARD NOMINEE, AND A RELAIS AND CHÂTEAUX GRAND CHEF. WHAT DO THESE MILESTONES MEAN TO YOU? They’re an honor, but they’re not everything. Being in the restaurant every day is what matters. Practice makes perfect. My dad drilled that into me, and I still believe it.
13. HOW DO YOU BUILD A DISH?
I start with a loose idea, expand way too far, and then strip back. I throw everything on paper, then refine it until it becomes something beautiful.
14. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE INGREDIENT? Pho broth.
15. WHAT’S YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE FOOD? Imitation crab meat.

17. WHAT IS THE MOST UNDERRATED INGREDIENT IN ITALIAN COOKING? Bottarga. Or puntarelle, a Catalonian chicory that’s incredibly sautéed or in salads.
18. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER A YOUNG CHEF? Persevere. Repetition makes you better. Put the time in.

FOUR SEASONS Resort Rancho ENCANTADO Santa Fe Why Santa Fe Should Be Your Wellness Reset in 2026 PHOTOGRAPHY BY FOUR SEASONS RESORT RANCHO ENCANTADO SANTA FE
There are wellness destinations designed to help you reset, and then there are places that do it for you the moment you arrive. Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe is that place. Set on 57 acres of high-desert wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo foothills, the resort sits on land once home to a 1920s dude ranch, a setting that has always attracted seekers of quiet, art, and open sky. Today, it remains one of the Southwest’s most peaceful escapes, yet it’s only minutes from downtown Santa Fe, which earned the #1 U.S. City spot in the 2025 Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards. In a world obsessed with spa menus and “biohacking,” it’s refreshing to find a place where wellness comes not from technology, but from land, culture, history, and space. Here’s why 2026 is the year to go.
THE LAND HEALS YOU WITHOUT ASKING
The resort sits at 7,000 feet, where the air is lighter and the horizon stretches farther. The high desert has a calming effect that is hard to describe until you’re standing in it; soft white light in the morning, blazing colors at sunset, and stars so sharp they don’t look real. Twenty minutes outside the Plaza, you feel worlds away. The property offers complimentary daily hikes on the Camino Encantado trail introducing guests to the flora, fauna, and spiritual stories tied to this land, echoing the resort’s history as a place of reflection and escape.

FIREPLACE SEASON IS CALLING
OUTDOOR LIVING REIMAGINED HISTORY SHAPES THE CALM
Before it was a Four Seasons, the property was an early 20th-century dude ranch known for its quiet, horses, and unbroken views of the mountains. Even after evolving into a luxury retreat, Rancho Encantado has never lost its origin story. Casitas are dispersed across the ridge to preserve that sense of privacy and space. The architecture blends adobe warmth with refined, modern lines. Fireplaces, terraces, piñon wood, and indoor-outdoor design bring the desert into every moment. CONTINUED >

THE ART SCENE IS A WELLNESS PRACTICE OF ITS OWN
Santa Fe has more than 250 galleries in a two-mile radius... more than any city its size in the country. Instead of trying to navigate it all, guests can lean on the resort’s Art Concierge, led by Mike McKosky, a fixture in Santa Fe’s fine art world. He curates: • personalized gallery itineraries • private showings • artist meet-and-greets • after-hours experiences It’s a cultural immersion designed to quiet the mind through beauty rather than overwhelm it with options.
THE ADVENTURE CENTER GROUNDS YOU THROUGH DISCOVERY
This is the only on-site Adventure Center of its kind in Santa Fe, offering custom excursions led by experts in geology, archaeology, and Indigenous history. Ideal for families, couples, friends, or solo-travelers, there’s something special for anyone. For example, the Tsi’pin Ruins Tour is an eight-hour experience to an ancient mesa-top settlement, explored respectfully alongside a geologist and archaeologist. These aren’t just tours. They’re reminders of the civilizations that shaped this land long before hotels existed.
WINTER WELLNESS LIVES ON THE MOUNTAIN
Just a short drive away is Ski Santa Fe, the resort’s unofficial winter wellness program. Families find gentle terrain; advanced skiers get steep winter lines; and everyone gets crisp air, glowing cheeks, and that unmistakable sense of clarity that only snow and sky create. Come back down the mountain and warm up by your casita fireplace, complete with the resort’s Fireplace Butler and signature piñon wood.
CUISINE THAT NOURISHES WITHOUT NOISE
At Terra, Executive Chef Gregory Joseph blends Northern New Mexican flavors with global sophistication. Meals are rooted in Spanish, Native American, and Mexican traditions. Expect a menu rooted in place: local chiles, earthy stews, blue-corn touches, and regionally sourced proteins. Even the view is restorative; the Sangre de Cristo Mountains turning blush pink at dusk.

THE SPA HONORS LAND, NOT TRENDS
While the Spa is iconic, its power comes from its roots. Treatments incorporate sage, adobe clay, desert botanicals, and the energy of a natural spiritual vortex. This is not about pampering; it’s about ritual. Treatments focus on purification, grounding, quiet stretching, breathwork, and the healing power of regional herbs and minerals.

In February, we’ll be sharing photos from the PCH Sage event we MC’d in December, but for now, we want to offer heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary chairs and to Amy Yount, owner of Amy Atelier, for trusting us with that role. Looking ahead, we are honored to MC the Alzheimer’s Association Era of Hope Gala this April. Want to join us? Reach out!
NOW WITH NADINE PODCAST
Join PVCL owner and publisher Nadine Bubeck on her nationally syndicated podcast, Now with Nadine. Featuring athletes, notable figures, and esteemed entrepreneurs, every episode offers a candid, behind the scenes look at their journeys, challenges, and triumphs. New to the pod: Brooke Burke, Allegra Cohen, Gene Simmons, and AQ Shipley. All episodes streaming everywhere.
SAVE THE DATE We are thrilled to officially launch our Purely PVCL video series on Instagram. These reels are dedicated to telling stories beyond the pages of the magazine and giving you a closer look at our incredible partners. You will also find updates, spotlights, and community moments we love sharing. Next, a huge thank you to Modern Day Wife & W Scottsdale’s What She Said event for inviting us to moderate such an empowering panel in November. We cherish every chance to connect with our community.
