About the Publisher

Frozen Treat:

Sloan’s at CityPlace has an absolutely decadent coffee ice cream. For something a little lighter, I usually opt for the Sorbet Splash at Sprinkles in Palm Beach. You can’t really go wrong with sherbet blended with mango nectar.

Cocktail:

I adore a good Gin and Tonic! Le Bilboquet makes one with green grapes and a dash of coconut liqueur and it’s heavenly. I think they call it the St. Tropez.

Quick Getaway:

You don’t exactly have to twist my arm to get me to go for a ‘staycation.’

The Tideline, Brazilian Court, or The Ambassador are all great spots to decompress over a long weekend.

Pizza Spot:

Grato is a personal fave of mine for a woodfired mushroom pizza and a hopping city scene. For a date night vibe, my wife Denise and I usually head to Pizza Al Fresco on the island. A glass of wine and the Colorful Bianca is a perfect Friday evening.

Tennis Court:

You’ll find me at The Four Seasons! Having a restringing service and tennis pros on staff makes a huge difference.

CELEBRATING COASTAL LUXURY

LILLY PULITZER COLLABORATION BRINGS COLORFUL ELEGANCE TO EAU PALM BEACH

ARTICLE BY ARSINE KALOUSTIAN PHOTOGRAPHY BY CARMEL BRANTLEY

In an exciting collaboration, Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa and iconic Palm Beach brand Lilly Pulitzer have unveiled a luxurious themed suite that embodies the joy of coastal living.

The oceanfront Lilly Pulitzer suite at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa epitomizes luxury and effortless sophistication. At a sprawling 1,000 square feet, the suite showcases Pottery Barn Brands and Lilly Pulitzer furnishings, adorned with the

latest Dandy Lions print. This playful print complements the resort’s signature interior tones of hydra blue and spearmint green, with its chic blue leopards and lions pattern and coastal elements like shell pillows, rattan mirrors, and Lilly Pulitzer light fixtures. Every detail, carefully curated by Lilly Pulitzer, offers guests a refreshing and memorable escape.

"Partnering with an iconic brand such as Lilly Pulitzer felt like such an organic collaboration," said Michelle Phillips, director of marketing and brand at Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. "The designs at Eau Palm

Beach are meant to feel luxurious and sophisticated, yet relaxed and approachable – which is very much in line with the designs, fabrics, and styles that Lilly Pulitzer is best known for. The partnership is a celebration of coastal living and iconic style, and every detail has been carefully curated to help tell the story of both Lilly Pulitzer and Eau. I have always described our guestrooms as something that will make you smile, even on a rainy summer day, and with this collaboration, guests are immediately approached with bursts of color and energy that are sure to bring a smile to your face."

“The partnership is a celebration of coastal living and iconic style.”

"We chose the Dandy Lions print because it naturally complemented the Jonathan Adler interiors," Phillips continued. "There were several different prints to choose from, but we wanted to maintain the integrity of the Jonathan Adler footprint in the guestrooms to create a whimsical and vibrant suite that celebrates everything Palm Beach."

Guests staying in the Lilly Pulitzer suite will enjoy exclusive amenities, including a Lilly Pulitzer beach bag and beach towels for use during their stay. Additionally, resort guests can indulge in surprise

offerings such as a complimentary glass of Champagne upon check-in, Lilly-printed reusable water bottles (they're yours to keep!) and numerous luxe experiences. These include the Forbes Five-Star Eau Spa, oceanfront cabanas, an adults-only pool, and diverse dining options from alfresco oceanfront dining at Breeze Ocean Kitchen to Italian fare at Polpo Palm Beach, fine dining at Angle, and locally brewed coffee at Oceana.

"We are excited to collaborate with Eau Palm Beach to create a truly unforgettable experience for guests that epitomizes

the vibrant nature of South Florida," said Michelle Kelly, CEO of Lilly Pulitzer. "Celebrating our 65th anniversary with incredible brand partners, we’re proud to welcome Eau Palm Beach into the celebration and showcase our newest print, Dandy Lions."

Tucked away on a private beach spanning seven acres of the Atlantic coast, Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa is a hidden gem offering stunning ocean views and lush tropical gardens. The resort's spacious accommodations blend Capri, Santorini, and Palm Beach vibes, featuring private balconies with hanging chairs. Guests can indulge in the luxurious 42,000-squarefoot Eau Spa, enjoy a match on one of the three tennis courts, relax by the two pools, or let the kids explore the children and teen club. Plus, the resort is just minutes from the vibrant nightlife and shopping of Palm Beach. As a proud member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection, Eau Palm Beach promises an unforgettable stay.

The Lilly Pulitzer suite is available for reservations through September 8, 2024.

FINDING A TOUCH OF GLAM IN EVERYDAY DESIGN

ARTICLE BY ALLISON GIBESON | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
HGTV star shares her secrets to make a home look both beautiful and livable.

Tamara Day, star of HGTV’s Bargain Mansions, describes her style as “laid-back luxe.”

“I am a mom of four, and I like pretty, shiny things,” Tamara says. “The two don’t always mix well. I design with lifestyle and family in mind but with that touch of glam.”

This mixture of practicality and flare can be accomplished throughout the home on a budget, Tamara says.

When it comes to the kitchen, she says replacing the backsplash is one of the most cost-effective ways to refresh the room. Additionally, she says paint is the most inexpensive option to update cabinets, and there is a de-glosser on the market that will reduce the labor involved by helping paint adhere to cabinets.

“You can get a whole new kitchen with some fresh paint,” Tamara says.

In the bathroom, Tamara suggests putting up new light fixtures and wallpaper for a fresh look. She suggests using wallpaper on just one wall to create contrast.

“Wallpaper transforms everything and puts in a hominess factor,” Tamara says.

To give a new feel to the living room, Tamara suggests using decorative pillows as well as displaying design books and layering with a candle or other interesting object to create a sentimental focal point. She also suggests investing in good, quality sofas

and rugs because less expensive options will not typically withstand the amount of wear and tear they receive from a family.

Overall, Tamara says there is a balance between mixing expensive and inexpensive items and materials around the home, all without having it looking cluttered. She says every space needs something that is thrifted.

Tamara finds many people enjoy elements of different types of styles and have a hard time defining their personal style. To help narrow down to a preferred look, she suggests taking a hundred room images and sorting them into piles of likes and dislikes. She says when someone completes this exercise, they typically find a theme to their preferences.

MAKING COLOR, TEXTURE AND PATTERN STAND OUT

Tamara has a natural eye for using great colors and textures in design. What is her approach to making a room look great?

HERE ARE TAMARA’S TOP TIPS:

Find a base color with pops of other colors.

“Every room needs a touch of black and a pop of color,” Tamara says. “The black will anchor it, but the color will give it life.”

If the home is urban, she suggests more bold pops. If it is a traditional home, use a mixture of colors. Additionally, she suggests using one basic color throughout a home with pops of other colors as opposed to having a different color in each room.

Consider wallpaper.

“Wallpaper can be scary for a lot of people, but there are so may wallpapers out there that are removable,” Tamara says.

Tamara says wallpaper adds texture and warmth, and she includes it in most of the homes she designs.

Layer with baskets, blankets and greenery. All three make a room feel cozy and add color and interest to a space.

SUMMER END of CRAB BOIL

I love family-style meals such as a crab boil this time of year. The food is the star of the show and a vital part of the tablescape – decor optional! Additional elements included here are a large paper-sail, light blue taper candles, a few large flowers, and heavy white rope as nautical accents. You can also use other elements such as large seashells, coral or seaglass. Use whatever you have on hand that nods to the sea.

Paper-Sail Centerpiece (instructions found in Martha Stewart’s book “Handmade Holiday Crafts” page 248) set in a galvanized bucket filled with white sand.

Blue Taper Candles placed in 8oz jelly jars filled with white sand.

Glass Bottles labeled “Let’s Sail Away.” Inside, roll up a handwritten note, joke or riddle for guests to enjoy a chuckle or conversation starter.

Large Galvanized Tray overlaid with parchment paper to hold the crab boil feast.

Fill a large stock pot halfway with cold water. Season with lemon peels, bay leaves, black pepper, red pepper flakes, Old Bay Seasoning, and garlic powder. Bring to a boil and add crab legs, sausage, potatoes, and corn until cooked. Strain water and serve on a large galvanized tray, newspaper or parchment paper – enjoy your meal with guests, family style!

Give each guest a bowl of garlic butter for dipping as well as lemons for squeezing (wrapped in cheesecloth and tied with twine to avoid seeds).
