How it works:

EMFACE uses synchronized radiofrequency (RF) and high-intensity facial muscle stimulation (HIFES) to lift, tone, and smooth—naturally boosting collagen and elastin, while strengthening the underlying facial muscles. This means tighter skin, reduced wrinkles, and restored structure… without surgery, needles, or downtime.

∙ It treats both the skin and the underlying muscle, something filler can’t do.

∙ It strengthens the levator and orbicularis oculi muscles, lifting the brow and tightening skin for a brighter, more open look.

∙ It improves natural volume loss without risking puffiness, migration, or overcorrection like filler sometimes can.

∙ It’s a non-invasive alternative to blepharoplasty or laser resurfacing, making it ideal for clients not ready—or not a candidate—for surgery.

Data-backed results:

Up to 26% increase in collagen | Up to 30% reduction in crow’s feet 23% more lifted facial structure | 64% reduction in dark circles

The Ladies Who Shaped Us!

There is something truly special about taking a step back to recognize the women who make our world more vibrant and grounded. Whether it's our mothers, daughters, friends, or colleagues, these women are so often the silent forces that shape our days and make life richer.

With Mother’s Day arriving this month, our thoughts naturally turn to all those incredible women—biological mothers and mother figures alike—who have made an unforgettable impact on us. When I reflect on the women who shaped my own upbringing, it always comes back to that selfless, unconditional care, true agape. It’s the teachers, the friends, the mentors, and the family members who offer their love, wisdom, and support without ever asking for recognition.

This month, as we celebrate these remarkable women, I also want to encourage you to throw your support behind the women-owned local businesses right here in our community. From the movers and shakers to the makers and builders, these women bring so much to the table. Their contributions, both out in front and behind the scenes, drive our local growth and create an impact that simply cannot be replicated.

Take a moment this month to recognize the women in your life. Send a text, make a phone call, or sit down for a real conversation with the women who have made a difference for you. It’s a simple but powerful way to brighten someone’s day and remind them just how much they are loved and valued.

Here’s to celebrating the women who make life so much more meaningful. Happy Mother’s Day, and cheers to the ladies who inspire us every single day!

BERRY BRUSCHETTA

A RECIPE FROM A CUP FULL OF SASS

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY TINNIN

This Berry Bruschetta is a delightful twist on the classic bruschetta that we all love. This version uses fruit, bringing a sweet element to the traditionally savory dish. With the use of fresh berries, cream cheese, delicious fruit spread, crumbled cheese, and fresh rosemary, it is the perfect addition to your next spring event. This simple, yet beautiful appetizer could be enjoyed at your next brunch, shower or Mother’s Day celebration. But let’s be honest—you don’t need an excuse to enjoy this delectable dish!

INGREDIENTS:

• 12 baguette slices

• Extra virgin olive oil (for brushing)

• 4 oz cream cheese

• 1/4 cup Fruit and Honey Triple Berry Spread (or any fruit spread of your choice)

• 1/3 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

• 1/3 cup fresh blueberries

• 2 oz fruit cheese (such as Wensleydale with Autumn Fruit), crumbled

• Fresh rosemary for garnish

DIRECTIONS:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Lightly brush the front and back of the baguette slices with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

3. Toast baguette slices in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until lightly toasted.

4. Once the baguette slices are cool, spread a generous layer of cream cheese over each slice.

5. Add the fruit spread on top of the cream cheese.

6. Add sliced strawberries and a few blueberries, allowing the vibrant colors to pop. (A great place to find fresh fruit is our local staple, Crystal & Rich’s Produce.)

7. Crumble the fruit cheese over the top for an added layer of richness and depth.

8. Garnish with fresh Rosemary if desired.

9. Serve and enjoy!

Hawaii à la Caribbean

ST. LUCIA’S SIMILARITIES & STRESS-FREE TRAVEL PLANNING

You may have heard St. Lucia likened to the Hawaii of the Caribbean (and a veritable honeymooner’s paradise), which, given my love for Hawaiʻi, invariably influenced selecting this destination for a getaway last fall. The island’s lush greenery and prominent mountain peaks do indeed strike some correlation to Hawaii’s storied, imposing, and impressive surroundings. Though still distinctly different, their tropical and volcanic similarities offer an appealing allure, and in the case of St. Lucia, it affords a much shorter flight and a closer time zone to the continental United States. Which makes it a compelling destination for honeymooners, gourmet epicureans, and adventure-seekers alike.

The Caribbean has held a particularly special place in my heart since first visiting Antigua and Barbuda’s strikingly crystalline waters and to this day remains a preferred escape. This time I opted to book a St. Lucian property from one of my preferred associations, Relais & Chateau (which has afforded me stays from Champagne, France to Cape Town, South Africa). Although located at the opposite side of the island from the airport, their local hotelier,  Cap Maison offers serenity and a sense of seclusion, as well as enchanting vistas, several pools, and accompanying culinary delights. Breakfast as well as exquisite seasonal and elegant French and West Indie infused dining can be found at the property’s widely recognized the  Cliff at Cap, which boasts the most incredible sunset views, as well as a most tranquil panorama of the island’s gently rugged topography as the Caribbean Sea trails off to meet the island of Martinique in the distance. The Cliff at Cap also offers an option for exclusive seaside dining for two at “Rock Maison.” While the  Naked Fisherman affords a “relaxed beach bar and grill” just below Cap Maison in a tranquil natural cove.

And naturally, the island also hosts a variety of other properties from the breathtaking  Jade Mountain to the equally impressive luxurious retreat of  Sugar Beach,

a Viceroy Resort, nestled seaside between the islands’ prominent Pitons.

Additionally, when it comes to activities and local offerings, St. Lucia readily delivers. It affords hiking to the more active and adventure seekers (especially le gros Piton , the islands’ larger of the paired iconic protruding mountain tops), decadent  chocolate tastings, as well as a variety of private (or group) catamaran sails. And of course you must not miss a sulphur soak at Soufrière, the town built in the caldera of an imploded [dormant] volcano, which also boasts the Toraille waterfalls. It also proved extremely interesting to hear [and pick up some of] patois, the local language spoken, which holds French, West African and even some pre-Colombian origins — revealing the mosaic of the island’s history in its very words. Thus whatever your interests, from its natural beauty to its multifaceted language and cuisine, sulphuric springs, rich culture and history, to its breathtaking sunsets and supremely serene sails, St. Lucia rightly retains its allure and enduring desirability as a premier Caribbean destination.

Which for those who dream of such a journey but are overwhelmed at the prospect of planning it, travel agencies and advisors, like  jo•vage, can help. As the premier haute luxury travel agency in Oklahoma and Georgia, our background, expertise, and firsthand knowledge translates your travel dreams into reality, especially for those seeking a highly customized, luxury-inclined and authentic experience. Thus wherever your travels may take you, St. Lucia certainly stands out given its indulgent chocolatier culture, sensational sails, and sulphur soaks — making it an idyllic equatorial escape and one jo•vage ( jo-vage.com) can certainly help craft, from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean and beyond.

BECKY HILLYARD

From Side Hustle to Style Empire

The power of taste, trust, and the courage to “just start.”

She didn’t have a business plan, a media budget, or even a name anyone could pronounce. What Becky Hillyard had was taste, a young family, and the instinct to just start. Today, her lifestyle brand Cella Jane commands an audience the size of Vogue’s , she’s nine collections strong with Splendid, and she’s built it all while raising three kids — refusing to sacrifice one for the other. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Becky shares what it really takes to build a brand, a career, and a life you love. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full conversation.

Q: WHEN DID YOU KNOW CELLA JANE WAS MORE THAN A HOBBY?

A: Two moments. Women started emailing me saying they bought something I recommended and felt amazing — asking me to help them find a dress for a wedding. That felt incredible. Then I looked at my affiliate numbers for one month and realized I could cover our mortgage. I thought, I can actually do this. I never set out to build a business. I started it because I genuinely loved it.

Becky in Splendid x @CellaJaneBlog Spring 2026 Collection

Q: WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU EVER TOOK WITH THE BRAND?

A: Designing my own collection. It’s easy to point at items on a website and say I love these. But to create something from scratch, put your name on it, and wait to see if people connect with it — that’s terrifying. I had an incredible partner in Splendid, and women loved the pieces. It was the biggest risk and the biggest accomplishment.

Q: HOW HAS INFLUENCER MARKETING CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?

A: When I started, brands didn’t know whether to take it seriously. Now it’s a legitimate line item in their marketing budgets — sometimes bigger than TV. Because what we’ve built is trust. People trust a real recommendation from someone they follow far more than a commercial. There’s no question about it now.

Q: YOU’RE A MOM OF THREE RUNNING A FULL BRAND. WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?

A: I try to get up at five and not hit snooze — that first hour before the house wakes up is the most productive, most peaceful hour of my day. Then it’s all hands on deck with the kids and school drop-off. After that I work — planning content, connecting with my team, editing. After pickup, the day shifts completely and it’s all about them. I’ve learned to protect both halves fiercely, because both matter.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BUILD SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN BUT KEEPS WAITING?

A: Don’t wait. Don’t wait for the perfect camera, the right strategy, or enough followers. We find every excuse to stay comfortable. Just start, be consistent, and be authentically yourself. The right people will find you — and they’ll stay.

This conversation is just the beginning. Becky goes deeper on the risks that almost stopped her, the design process behind her latest Splendid collection, and what she’d tell her 2012 self today. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on the Share the Lifestyle podcast.

TONE + TEXTURE

STYLE YOUR HOME IN TONES AND TEXTURES WITH DESIGN HELP FROM HOUZZ INTERIOR DESIGN EXPERTS

WOVEN + KNOTTED

LIVING BOHO-CHIC WITH WOVEN TEXTURES AND MACRAMÉ

Decorate your space with handmade textures such as the modern, maker revival of 1970s macramé and year-round tropical feel of wicker. MACRAMÉ Made through knotting instead of weaving, macramé can add a unique touch in many various ways. Houzz contributor Laura Gaskill suggests incorporating it as nursery decor, plant hangers, wall hangings and modern fiber arts. WICKER According to Houzz contributor Yanic Simard, “the best way to really embrace the luxury-cottage appeal of wicker and rattan is to combine different forms of the two in one space... Look for other unexpected places to add a natural twist to your home with a new material woven into your palette.”

AGAINST THE GRAIN

TIPS FOR DECORATING WITH NATURAL MATERIALS

Houzz contributor Katie Treggiden offers many ways to incorporate natural materials and natural-state timber into your home, including using wood to cover one wall in a home for a pleasing accent wall; featuring your firewood as a striking, stacked display; and mixing different types of wood and different finishes in the same space. “A simple way to incorporate the wood trend is to expose structural wooden beams already present in your home,” Katie says. “Instead of painting them or boxing them in, leave them raw or give them a coat of wax to enrich the tones.”

BRIGHTS + WHITES

ADDING TASTEFUL POPS OF COLOR TO YOUR WHITE ROOM

Do you feel like your all-white room is missing something? Houzz contributor Kelly Porter bets what’s missing is energy.

“The best way to add a spark to any space,” she says, “is with bright color.”

Kelly says green is one of the easiest colors to live with, looking organic even in its more vivid tones.

“When searching for the perfect bright green, think springtime—fresh green grass and newly sprouted leaves,” she says. “These greens have lively undertones that will look comfortable and warm in your white space.

Other colors Kelly recommends adding as accents are yellow, royal blue, orange, bluepurple, red-purple and sky blue.

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS

Supplies:

• Flowers of your choice

• Scissors

• Twine or floral tape

• Ribbon (optional)

Decorate Your Space With a DIY Floral Design

Spring: the days grow longer, weather turns warmer, and the earth’s greenery starts to make its reappearance. During this time, flowers shoot up from the ground in a ballet of colors and movement. Walking outside becomes a cherished moment to breathe the fresh air and immerse yourself in lush surroundings. Being inside your home turns dreary and dull, everything that thrives is now outside, but this can easily be remedied. Why not bring some life inside? Make a spring floral bouquet to lighten up your space. Flowers add color and character to any room that needs a little lift, and our step-by-step guide will inspire you to create something grand.

• Decorative paper (optional)

• Bouquet sleeve (optional)

“Just remember, whatever way you choose to decorate your bouquet, you will end with a personalized piece made with love and care.”

Directions:

Step 1: When creating a beautiful floral arrangement, the first thing to do is decide on a color scheme and prepare the flowers.  Have fun deciding what colors you want to play with. Perhaps go pastel for spring or match the hues to other decor items in your house. Once you have picked your flowers, you need to do a little prep work. First, remove extra leaves and damaged petals from the stems. Then make a fresh diagonal cut to the bottom of all the flowers. This allows each bloom to soak up as much water as they need.

Step 2: Now it’s arranging time — think focal and filler. The best way to start the arranging process is by choosing your most interesting or favorite flowers — this will be your focal point. Hold the focal flower(s) upright and add your supporting blooms around it. Make sure to turn the bouquet as you build so that the design is as desired. Once this is complete, add your filler flowers to finalize the look. Filler options include baby’s breath, ivy, fern, eucalyptus and more.

Step 3: Let’s get ready to tie. Once you’ve arranged your bouquet, tie all the stems together using twine or floral tape. If using twine, we recommend securing it in a small bow in case you would like to rearrange at any given time. Floral tape is easy to move on and off for this purpose as well.

Step 4: Add the finishing touches. At this point, you are almost done with your bouquet and all that’s left is embellishments. There are so many ways to further adorn your creation: one way we love is to wrap it in fun decorative paper or put it in a special sleeve made just for flowers. If this idea isn’t for you, we recommend going to Pinterest for inspiration. Just remember, whatever way you choose to decorate your bouquet, you will end with a personalized piece made with love and care.

W A T C H THEM GROW

The days are long, but the years go fast. So they say with raising children. I have to agree with that sentiment. Each year as summer ends I find myself looking at my kids and reminding myself to “Watch them grow!” Both as a reminder to not miss the growth (with all the distractions and responsibilities that adult life brings) but also as reflection on how far they’ve come since the last time we turned the calendar page to August. Whether there are children in your life or not, I’m sure we can all agree that childhood is fleeting. Instead of stopping to smell the roses, I need to remind myself to “stop and watch them grow”—you can’t see it if you stare, but you’ll surely miss it if you blink! It helps me to set aside intentional time to be present with these fast little growers.

For us that looks like setting a special table to spend time sharing (or drawing) how we’ve seen them grow over the summer before jumping back into school routines. Making DIY game boards together and then having a family game night. Making snow cones for an after-dinner treat or, for a bigger wow factor, for breakfast! They will never forget that one, I promise. (Psst! my snow cones are made with fruit juice so it’s Mommy approved too!)

As August rolls in and the calendar tells us that it’s time for back-to-school shopping, the weather does not usually agree that the times are changing. I find that it’s such

a weird dance between what looks like the change of seasons when I open my calendar but not when I walk out my back door (heat wave!). On one hand, we’re still in full throttle of blazing temperatures in the Midwest and with no end in sight. At the same time, being thrown into back-to-school shopping, Meet-the-Teacher nights, resuming the regiment of packing school lunches, and if you’re a homeschool parent, all the to-do lists and lesson plans in order to launch into another school year. As we find ourselves

with one foot in summer and the other in a classroom, how do we embrace and (dare I say) celebrate this month? Instead of feeling ungrounded in the juxtaposition of August, I am inviting myself, and anyone who would join me, to embrace the opportunity to celebrate the in-between seasons that this month brings. My hope is that these ideas help spark your imagination on how to keep you cool in the heat, launch your kiddos into a new school year, and to set aside time to watch them grow.

DIY GAME BOARDS

Welcome more play into your life with this little DIY project. At our house we like to keep outdoor game boards around for short moments together as well as full blown game nights. These game boards are meant to be kept outside but could also be brought indoors as well.

Materials

• Pebbles for Checkers, 24 similar sized

• Small stones for Tic-Tac-Toe, 8 similar sized

• Acrylic paints (black, red, yellow and white)

• Paint brush

• Raw wooden boards + black paint marker

• Reclaimed wood + black acrylic paint

• Polycrylic spray

Instructions

1. Game Pieces: Paint your rocks with acrylic paint. For Tic-Tac-Toe you’ll need a total of 8 rocks, 4 of each type (here I’ve painted 4 lady bugs and 4 bumble bees). For Checkers you’ll need a total of 24 rocks, 12 of each color (here I’ve used black stones, painting half of them red).

2. Game Board: For raw wood (such as our TicTac-Toe board), use a ruler and black paint marker to create board lines. For reclaimed or treated wood, use paint. Let game pieces and game boards fully dry. Seal with a polycrylic spray for protection from heat and moisture.

SNOW CONES

We adore snow cones at our house! If you’ve been to our house then we’ve probably served them to you. A shaved ice machine makes it oh-so-easy! You can purchase premade snow cone syrup flavors or make your own healthier version by using fruit juice concentrates. Simply thaw the frozen fruit juice concentrate and put the liquid into squeezy bottles for an easy way to pour over shaved ice.

Assemble

• Ice, lots of ice!

• Snow Cone Machine

• Snow Cone Cups

• Snow Cone Straws

• Snow Cone Syrups (or frozen juice concentrates, thawed)

Use a snow cone machine to shave ice into snow cone cups. Top with your favorite flavor—either store bought snow cone syrups, homemade syrups, or our favorite—fruit concentrates. Stay cool and celebrate the last days of summer heat! CONTINUED >

TABLESCAPE GUIDE

To recreate this tablescape, see the list of items below. This list is meant to be used as a guide and not a rule book. Using items that you already own not only saves you a shopping trip but also encourages (often forces) creativity! All it takes to make a tablescape beautiful is by using LAYERS both vertically and horizontally. For layering vertically, create a centerpiece with three different heights. On this tablescape I used:

1) a plant for the highest layer

2) outdoor spheres as a midsized layer

3) wooden items such as game pieces and game boards for the lower layer

For layering horizontally, layer your place settings by using 1) terracotta plant saucers, 2) green plates, and 3) mini cupcake stands topped with a small terracotta pot and flower.

Centerpiece Items {Layer Vertically}

• Large plant (I used my Pothos)

• Game pieces (yard dice shown here)

• DIY game boards (see instructions above)

Place Setting Items {Layer Horizontally}

You will need one of each item per guest at your table:

• Small terracotta pot

• Small wooden coaster

• Mini cupcake stand

• Green plate

• Tea towel (instead of napkins)

• 12.2 inch terracotta plant saucer (as plate chargers)

• Flowers (faux or real)
