Happy Holidays, Y'all!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

December brings us cooler weather, fun festivities, and the chance to experience real-life magic in the form of Christmas. For many, this time of year is all about traditions and recreating the joy of our childhoods. For us here at Northlake City Lifestyle, it's all about celebrating the end of the year in this amazing city.

In my family, one tradition we maintain after all these years is watching Christmas movies. My dad and I even have matching sweaters that quote National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation!" It's these little things that make this season the most important. The presents under the tree are great, but the moments spent with family and friends are what truly make this time of the year so magical.

This month, we’ve curated a gift guide to help make your holiday shopping easier while supporting local businesses like Noël at Lemongrass Spa! (The Healing Balm is amazing!) Lamar National Bank is a pillar of the community, and giving back is one of the many things they do best. Check out their story as well as the Drive-Through Food Pantry held by the North Texas Church of Christ every other Thursday.

Though there is often so much joy, this can be a difficult time for those grieving, lonely, or in need. Let's come together this year to show compassion and empathy to those who may be struggling. Volunteer at the food pantry, donate clothes to the Community Closet in Justin, or drop by a neighbor's house to check in on them. Whatever you choose to do, know that every act of generosity makes a difference. May your holidays be filled with love, peace, and the joy of giving.

Happy Holidays. See y'all next year!

Meeting Needs & Building Community

Volunteers turn compassion into action at The Table drive-thru food pantry.

What began in the spring of 2021 as an outreach opportunity allowing local teens to use the North Texas Church of Christ’s gym to practice basketball grew into The Table — a ministry that meets the needs of hundreds of families each year through its drive-thru food pantry.

“While talking to the teens one night, a comment was made about bringing food to feed families in need. The next week, we started to collect food, and soon North Texas Church of Christ, local Girl Scouts, and other groups joined in collecting food,” remembers Park Conner, a volunteer with The Table.

“September of 2021 was our first distribution, and we had 3 single women all in the same vehicle come for food. By September of 2022, we had served around 333 people.”

Since 2021, the ministry has continued to grow and now serves anywhere from 30 to 70 families per distribution, which occurs on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. On those days, The Table distributes meal kits made up of ingredients for 2 to 3 meals, snacks, a loaf of bread, milk, a protein, and fresh produce when it is available. During school holidays, the ministry also provides simple meals that children can prepare on their own while their parents are working.

For special occasions such as birthdays and holidays, The Table adds a festive touch by providing extra items such as Christmas Cookie Kits that include cookie mix, a baking sheet pan, and Christmas-themed cookie cutters. For children’s birthdays, special Birthday Bags are filled with everything needed to bake a birthday cake to help the families celebrate their child’s birthday. These added touches bring an extra dose of joy to families by allowing them to celebrate significant events together without extra financial stress.

At the core of The Table are the many volunteers who pore over the details and serve local individuals and families each month. Their work turns compassion into action, and for Park, building relationships with those volunteers is one of his favorite parts of the ministry.

“We receive help in many ways. We have people who hang our signs out by the road, pack meal kits, shop, plan out what we will distribute each week, and so much more,” he says. “I am a teacher at our local school district’s Adult Transition program. This program helps young adult students with disabilities gain independence and purpose through job skills, and these students are the heart behind the scenes. They help with purchasing, stocking shelves, rotating products, checking expiration dates, cleaning, and other important tasks. Many of these students even volunteer over the summer and during holidays.”

With the help of dedicated volunteers, The Table reaches families who are in difficult situations. For many people, especially during the holidays, money is stretched thin, and tough decisions are made daily between paying bills, buying necessities like clothing or gas, and buying groceries. The heart behind The Table is to lighten the burden by providing nutritious food in a caring manner that goes far beyond meeting the needs at the dinner table; it also strengthens families and brings hope to the community.

“Like any action, we will never know the true impact that is made. As long as one person is positively impacted and passes that on to others, it is all worth it,” shares Park. “I do see the impact it has had on our congregation, and the bonds built in service together are strong. The impact on my students is great as well, and I see the sense of pride and purpose the work provides. So, I can see the good that is happening in the lives of our clients, but the behind-the-scenes connections, the relationships we have built with those who volunteer, support, and participate in the ministry, are truly wonderful.”

The Table is a ministry of the North Texas Church of Christ, which is located at 1290 FM 407 in Northlake. For more information on The Table and to learn more about supporting the ministry through donations or volunteering, visit www.ntxcoc.com/local-ministries/the-table or call (940) 648-2888.

The Face Behind the Fashion

Q&A with our Style Issue model, Emily Boyd!

PHOTOGRAPHY BY

WHO IS EMILY BOYD?

“I am a 2025 graduate from Texas Woman’s University with a B.A. in Dance Studies. My passions include performing and fashion, as well as hair and makeup artistry.”

WHAT’S COLLEGE BEEN LIKE AS A PERFORMER?

“My college experience has been so fulfilling and a blessing. There are so many talented people I have gotten to learn from at TWU, including the faculty and the tremendous guest artists they bring in. TWU guided me through my early 20s and has taken me to places I never expected to go. This past summer, I was inspired by one of the guest artists to sign up for an Immersive Dance and Theatre intensive at Montclair State University in New Jersey.”

HOW DID YOU BEGIN MODELING?

“Modeling is something that’s come my way organically. When I was young, my mom and grandma always dressed me up and took my photos. In high school, my friends and I would get together for fun amateur photoshoots around town. Over time, through the many connections I’ve made, I’ve now had the sweetest opportunity of being on the cover of Northlake 3 times.”

ANY ADVICE FOR PERFORMERS?

“Take as many classes as possible. If you are a dancer, try acting workshops; if you are an aspiring actor, take dance classes! Cross-training is your best friend. Consume as much art as you can and have conversations with everyone. You never know whose ideas might align with yours, and together, you can create something amazing!”

WHAT IS A MOTTO YOU LIVE BY?

“Do your work with your whole heart, and you will succeed.” It came from a fortune cookie I once got, and it’s inspired me ever since to stay true to myself.”

Lamar National Bank, serving the community by building relationships! SERVICE, CONNECTION, & CARE

As a community bank founded in 1981, Lamar National Bank was created on the premise of providing relationship banking at its best. “When you walk through our doors, chances are that we already know you and can greet you by name,” shares Northlake Branch Manager, Dylan Ruthart. “We’re able to talk with you, ask about your family and your kids, and see how life is going. Here, you’re so much more than a number; you’re a real person that we know and have a relationship with.”

Creating meaningful connections with customers allows Dylan and his team to provide the best banking experience for individuals and businesses based on their specific needs. Whether it is a loan to help launch a small business or online banking tools that are extra helpful during busy seasons like the holidays, they know what options provide the best fit for local customers.

Relationship building continues beyond the walls of the bank and into the community as Lamar National Bank sponsors local community events, teams, and educational programs, as well as supporting the United Way and being an active member of the Metroport Chamber of Commerce.

“We also ask our employees to spend a certain amount of time outside of work each year volunteering in the community, whether that is at church, the food bank, with a local charity, or helping with special events,” says Dylan. “We want to be part of the community so that our customers are not just a face in the crowd. We want them to know that they can trust us with whatever banking need they’re having and that we can help.”

Stop in Lamar National Bank and say hello to Dylan and the team at 100 Plaza Place in Northlake. For more information on services, visit www.lamarnationalbank.com or call 972-318-1060.

You can also join Noël’s Facebook group, http://facebook.com/ groups/noelshealthyhome,for more information, tips and tricks, and exciting giveaways!

Noël Borchardt was introduced to Lemongrass Spa shortly after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Her diagnoses pushed her to look for gluten-free skincare that had great ingredients without breaking the bank. She was first invited to an online spa social, began using the products, which made her fall in love with her skin and hair again, and from there, the rest was history! Noël felt called to begin working with Lemongrass Spa so she could educate others and help people find products that work for them. Community is a huge drive for Noël, and she loves partnering with local businesses to find ways to give back to her community. “As I got to learn more about the heart of the company and the founders, I realized that this company is so special. The founder, Heidi Leist, started making the products in her home with the highest quality ingredients…” says Noël.

What makes Lemongrass Spa products unique is that they are handmade and handpoured. Lemongrass Spa avoids ingredients that are known for hormone disruption, synthetic fillers, and forever chemicals, and they are held to the highest standard. They remain gluten-free, synthetic fragrance-free, cruelty-free, and avoid many other harsh ingredients. “We take an ethical, effective, and affordable approach to our business and to our products. The company truly exudes faith first and family second (and that includes our Lemongrass Spa sisterhood family),” says Noël.

On top of owning 2 businesses, Noël is a mom, wife, and corporate executive. She is no stranger to a busy schedule. She knows how difficult it can be to find products to take care of yourself or to find the perfect gift for a loved one. She has decided to give us a look at some of the Lemongrass Spa holiday collection-yay! You can browse pre-made holiday sets, or you can consult with Noël, and she will create a custom set that will work best for you and your skin. that’s a WRAP

DIY Gift Wrapping That Stands Out During

The Season

‘Tis the season to get crafty, clever or characterized! Wellwrapped holiday packages create immediate enthusiasm and somehow seem to make gifts more meaningful. Whether going for shiny, vintage, colorful, rustic, playful or eco-friendly impressions, the following are some Do-It-Yourself gift-wrapping ideas to make the wrapping process even more satisfying. Simply applying jute twine to gifts provides a ‘less is more’ vibe.

ADD NATURAL TOUCHES TO CRAFT PAPER:

For gifts with a rustic, organic feel, use seasonal accents, such as sprigs, pine cones and cinnamon sticks, tied up with twine, encircling recycled paper for the wrapping.

FIRST INITIAL DECORATION:

In lieu of a gift tag, attach an oversized paper mâché letter of the recipient’s first initial to the top of the box. The letter then can serve as customized décor, too.

POLKA DOTS:

Wrap gifts in plain craft paper and then cut out big, multicolored polka dots to glue down. It’s hard not to smile at big, bright dots.

CARDBOARD BOX SNOWPERSON:

Wrap three or four boxes in white paper, with different gifts inside, and then stack them. Tape the boxes together,

the SEASON

tapering to the top. Glue buttons on the bottom ones, create a snowperson’s face on the top one, with carrot nose cut out of orange paper. Attach a real hat, if desired. Tie wider, festive bow around the snowperson’s ‘neck.’ Add a real corncob pipe for a bonus finishing touch, if preferred.

MINI TREE GIFT WRAPPING:

Pine needles and small tips of real tree branches make quick and easy mini Christmas trees that can be glued onto Christmas gifts. They will smell nice, too.

BOOK PAGE WRAPPING PAPER:

Repurpose old book pages by cutting out

shapes of dreidels, snowflakes, ornaments, candles or reindeer to paste on gifts.

DIY STAMP WRAPPING PAPER:

Wrap gifts in solid colors of paper. Secure ink stamps and an ink pad in a themed color(s), and stamp the paper as much or as little as desired.

UNBOXED:

Apply other types of containers, rather than boxes or bags, for gift wrapping; examples:  canisters, pillow cases, baskets, fabric scraps, maps, glass containers, towels, blankets, scarves, Bento bags (also called triangle bags or origami bags).
