In this season of giving thanks, we often find ourselves reflecting on the many blessings in our lives. One of my passions in life is Interior Design and Art. It’s Pumpkin Bread Season

The Perfect Recipe For Some Autumn Comfort

Ingredients: • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon • 1 teaspoon nutmeg • 1/2 teaspoon ginger • 1 teaspoon salt • 1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin • 1 1/2 cups sugar • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or canola oil • 1/2 cup melted butter • 2 eggs Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2. In a mixing bowl, add the flour, baking soda and baking powder, spices, and salt. Set aside. 3. Combine the oil, butter, and vanilla in a liquid measuring cup. 4. In a mixing bowl (with a paddle attachment), beat the pumpkin, sugar, and eggs until combined. 5. Turn the mixer to low and slowly add the liquid ingredients. Let this process take about 1 to 2 minutes so the mixture becomes light and fluffy. 6. Using a spatula, fold the dry ingredients into the wet and slowly fold until the ingredients are blended. 7. Prepare a 10 x 5 loaf pan by buttering it really well and then adding a strip of parchment paper to the bottom and up the sides for easy removal. 8. Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 1 hour. The bread will be fully risen in the center, like a loaf. Make sure it’s fully cooked and brown on the top otherwise it will fall in the middle once removed from the oven.

Kimberly Alvord knows how to throw a good party! In honor of a special home with one of Naples Bay's best views, Kimberly and her team pulled off a sexy sunset soiree that will not soon be forgotten. 1340 Pelican Avenue is not only our featured property for this month's issue, but a true waterfront gem deserving of a captivating evening with all of the frills. It was all in the details for the "007" themed gathering. The event featured fancy cars, Chagall paintings gracing the walls, a fabulous martini bar (we'll take ours shaken, not stirred), live music, gift bags and door prizes from Urban Meditation. The kitchen was filled with delectable food from Naples' favorite catering company, The ChefandB Team with Chef Avi and Bill. The crowd was dressed to impress, the residence filled with beautiful friends, but the true star of the night was the view and a spectacular sunset. Guests flocked to the pool deck and multiple balconies to revel in the dazzling view, as the colors from the sunset bounced off the gentle ripples of Naples Bay. WELLNESS TRIATHLON

On a bright and sunny September morning, the Naples community came together for a special event that combined wellness, fitness, and a touch of inspiration. The Wellness Triathlon, hosted by City Lifestyle Naples and the Blue Zone Project, took place at the beach with Naples Pier in the background, setting the stage for a day of healthy intentions and networking.

After the triathlon’s activities came to a close, participants were invited to enjoy a special brunch at Urban Meditation. The event was graciously sponsored by The Board House, providing brunch and bubbly to refuel the participants. As a highlight of the brunch, Maria Felipe, author of “Live Your Happy,” made a special appearance for a book signing event, inspiring all with her wisdom and positivity. To sweeten the deal, attendees were treated to a 30% discount on Urban Meditation’s retail items and meditation services.

Following the walk, yoga mats were rolled out on the sandy shore for a rejuvenating yoga session led by Marta Campanella. Monica Fuentes finished off the yoga session and led us into meditation with the healing sounds of her sound bowls.

Passive stretching is what we all know and probably grew up doing. It has become dogmatic that stretching prevents injury. The current research does not reflect that. Passive stretching is your classic hamstring stretch, or a quad stretch or calf stretch. All this does is temporarily diminish the stretch reflex. That reflex is there for a reason and inhibiting it may not be the best idea. Well, let’s just say it’s probably not ideal. Active stretching is basically what we mean when we say “mobility.” It’s improving range of motion through use of the muscle. To be clear, we’re not saying passive stretching is bad, it’s just not the best use of your time prior to sport. Think of it this way: you want to warm the muscle up. What’s the best way to do that? Blood. Flood the area with blood and now you have a warm muscle. Blood tends to pool towards the gut and brain when you are sedentary. Especially if you just had a meal (gut), or you are studying or reading (brain). If your limbs get cold after a meal, this is why. Using your muscles will get blood to your limbs. Jumping rope or doing burpees will get a lot of blood to the limbs. If you want to improve your range of motion while using your muscles, now that’s mobility. Bonus points if it’s sport specific. So then the question becomes, what movements does the sport demand. Pickleball is a rotational sport like golf or tennis. So we know we need spinal rotation. Thoracic rotations are something you can do for that. So we should select an exercise that challenges the hip, knee, and ankle. It’s also important to recover afterwards.

Maria, born on January 2nd, 2021, started her life with symptoms of yellow eyes, a hard belly, and non-growing nails. The devastating news came on August 11th, 2021: stage 3 Hepatoblastoma, a rare liver cancer. Suddenly, Maria's mom was submerged in fear and worry. Financial challenges loomed with the mounting medical bills. Enter Cancer Alliance Network (CAN). Upon a visit, a dedicated caseworker at CAN provided immediate assistance and solace. Within a week, they were covering car payments and providing gift cards for necessities, ensuring they were not battling alone. Maria’s journey involved intense chemotherapy sessions and an agonizing wait for a liver transplant. At just one year old in January 2022, she successfully underwent the transplant. By March 24th, 2022, following further treatments, the bells rang signifying Maria's victory against cancer. Set to turn three in 2024, Maria’s mom expresses profound gratitude for the donor and CAN's unwavering support. She says, "CAN's assistance was the lifeline I needed during our darkest times." He splits his time between Aspen, Colorado, Big Sky, Montana, and Naples. Rickey initially reached out to David Yarrow to express his admiration for his art. The feeling was mutual, and Rickey created a black cashmere topcoat with a custom lining featuring 12 of David’s favorite images. Recently, Rickey connected with the world famous Artist, and the two men decided to collaborate and transform Elevee into a gallery showcasing David's work While David Yarrow's photographs are stunning in magazines or on a computer screen, Rickey believes they are best appreciated in person. The artwork will be displayed at Elevee by Rickey Custom Clothier on 3rd and Broad throughout the season. The Traditional Table Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving or an autumn dinner party, setting a festive table creates the perfect cozy atmosphere. Improvise and use what you have around the house for adding elements to the table.

For this classic, traditional look, a plaid throw blanket stands in for a tablecloth to establish a festive base layer. Brass candlesticks with brown taper candles create a simple and elegant centerpiece. Use familiar accents such as amber jars filled with dried grass foliage and brass pheasants to adorn the table. To add a little character to the table, use a recycled wine bottle as a vase. The simple place setting is enhanced with a dried grass accent and brown silk ribbon tied into a bow to add a special touch to your traditional display.

The Fall Garden Party Table Are you planning to dine al fresco this fall? Create an earthy, fall garden party on the porch by using natural, organic elements, greenery and flowers. To make a statement, create a floral chandelier by hanging flowers upside down above the table using fishing wire (if your space allows).
