Three Little Shadows

In honor of our family issue, and as our family welcomes our new son to our beautiful chaos, I had to share the poem Two Little Shadows. I, so, wish I could find the individual who wrote this simple poem because they really hit the nail on the head on the head of motherhood & parenthood. It's a job you're called to. It's work that is never ending, but also comes with a sense of ease because it is work from the heart.

Work from the heart takes away the dread, it fulfills, and it actually matters. Life filled with sun & shadows is a happy life.

1-7: The Brokerage Pilates hosted their community beyond the studio for an afternoon of connection, wellness, and relaxation at Riviom, a historic urban retreat off of Music Row. Members enjoyed time to unwind, meet fellow members, and strengthen the relationships that make The Brokerage Pilates so special. Building community is at the heart of everything they do, and they're excited to continue creating experiences that bring our members together both inside and outside the studio.

8-14: Learning came to life when locally owned European auto repair shop Rennstahl brought a few of its luxury vehicles and technicians to Dudley Head Start in Nashville. As part of the preschool's lesson on cars and transportation, the Rennstahl team gave students and staff an up-close look at the vehicles while sharing how they work and answering plenty of curious questions. To thank their special visitors, the children created a colorful truck artwork made from their handprints. The visit was a memorable experience for everyone involved, leaving the Rennstahl team, teachers, and students with smiles and a reminder of the joy that comes from connecting with the community.

15-20: CHORD Real Estate recently welcomed more than 200 clients, volunteers, and team members to its Annual VIP Day at the Nashville Zoo for a day of family-friendly fun and appreciation. Guests enjoyed a zoo-wide scavenger hunt, thrilling zip-line adventures, exclusive up-close animal encounters, and a BBQ dinner shared with friends. The event celebrated the relationships CHORD has built with its clients while creating lasting memories together. The team looks forward to welcoming everyone back for another unforgettable VIP Day next year.

Design-Forward Bower Nails Debuts in Wedgewood Houston

Bower Nails has opened in Nashville’s Wedgewood Houston neighborhood, offering a design-forward nail salon centered on wellness, sustainability and thoughtful hospitality. Founded by local residents Andrea Fishkin and Amanda Soeder Gleaton, the salon focuses exclusively on manicures and pedicures using ingredient-conscious products and eco-friendly practices. Designed as a calming retreat, Bower features curated treatments, locally sourced amenities and boutique hospitality touches, encouraging guests to view nail care as part of their overall wellness routine.

The Next Door Recovery Expands to 24/7 Admissions

The Next Door Recovery has expanded to 24/7 admissions, providing women with immediate access to substance use and co-occurring disorder treatment whenever they seek help. Supported by funding from the Tennessee Opioid Abatement Council, the program has already admitted more than 600 women during after-hours since launching in February 2026. The nonprofit also offers transportation, TennCare enrollment assistance, priority admission for pregnant women, and integrated, trauma-informed services to support long-term recovery.

Fresh Flavors Arrive as Sweetgreen Opens in The Gulch

Sweetgreen has officially arrived in Tennessee with the opening of its first Nashville location. The fast-casual restaurant celebrated its debut with live music, giveaways, and complimentary entrées for the first 50 guests. Known for its fresh salads, warm bowls, wraps, and protein plates, Sweetgreen also partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, donating a bowl for every meal purchased on opening day. The opening marks Sweetgreen’s mission to bring fresh, seasonal ingredients and healthier dining options to the Nashville community.

In addition to being the founder of NurtureHaus, Dr. Rya Carter is a certified Occupational Therapist, Lactation Counselor, and Educator of Infant Massage dedicated to supporting mothers, infants, and growing families through the earliest stages of parenthood. Blending her passion for helping new mothers and her background in Pediatric Occupational Therapy, it is Dr. Carter’s goal to deliver postpartum support that helps families feel confident, connected, and supported through every stage of early parenthood.

“I have been a Pediatric Occupational Therapist for four years now... I had an amazing mentor at my first clinic that I worked at and loved the OT perspective with babies,” Dr. Carter explains. “I then started to find my niche... I love kids, but I found that I really love babies!”

The journey led Dr. Carter to continue her education and receive additional certifications to help with newborn support. She truly loves the dynamic between a mother and baby—so much so, she found herself going above and beyond the normal Occupational Therapist role, supporting parents inside and outside of the office, answering all their questions around the clock, and easing their minds that they are doing a good job. She realized this was a true passion of hers: using her skills as an Occupational Therapist to help mothers beyond what she could do in the office.

“[I love] helping new mothers through the feeding process and correcting any misinformation… I also feel like there are a lot of expectations [for] moms— that things should be natural and easy—and that’s just not the case. I began to realize there wasn’t a ton of help out there for them,” Dr. Carter shares.

Thus, NurtureHaus was born. Using evidence-based support to help babies grow, play, and thrive, Dr. Carter works to improve motor skill development, sensory processing support, play and social engagement, and real-life strategies. In addition to Occupational Therapy, she also offers supply and pumping support, positioning and latch guidance, infant massage techniques, as well as digestion and relief support—to name a few. Since every postpartum experience looks different, support through NurtureHaus is designed to adapt alongside your family’s needs—offering personalized guidance, developmental support, feeding support, infant regulation, and caregiver education through a calm, relationship-centered approach. “I think the way the world is set up medically right now, it's not very proactive—it's really reactive. I felt like I was seeing an area where, if I could step in ahead of time, help these moms, and give them answers before something went wrong, it could make a real difference,” Dr. Carter explains. “[This] seemed like an area where I could help. And the more continued education I was doing, the more I realized that these three, four, and five-year-olds I was working with as a regular OT probably could have had many of their problems addressed when they were only two months old if they had just been identified earlier. I had all this knowledge and with a push from my husband believing in me, we realized this could be something so beneficial to the community.”

NurtureHaus offers different packages depending on the care you are seeking. The Signature Postpartum Support is a week-to-week package offering continuous postpartum support designed to help families feel confident, connected, and supported throughout the early transition into parenthood. This includes a weekly in-home support session, weekly remote support session, direct messaging access, developmental guidance, feeding and lactation counseling, infant regulation support, the Vaughan Approach integration, and infant massage education. Michael Hardy—also known as country rock artist HARDY—may be known for his impressive catalog as an artist and songwriter, but behind the scenes, he's equally passionate about using his platform to give back. Together with his wife, Caleigh, the pair have made impact a priority through The Hardy Fund, philanthropic efforts, and a commitment to supporting others beyond the stage. From kicking off CMA Fest with Trend Management—the influencer talent company that represents Caleigh—to sharing life at home and on the road as parents to their one-year-old daughter, Rosie, the Hardys continue to balance career, family, and purpose.

What first inspired you to start The Hardy Fund, and when did you realize this was something you wanted to build into a lasting part of your legacy?

Creating something like The Hardy Fund was always the dream! We have always hoped for an opportunity to grow good in this world and give back to the causes closest to our hearts—things like supporting military veterans and their families, safeguarding the welfare of animals, championing music education, and uplifting those within our community. When we realized we could make that dream our reality, The Hardy Fund was born. Now, we are proudly able to offer flexible support when and where it is needed most. We pray that we are in the process of creating a legacy of compassion that will continue to make an impact long after us.

Looking back, was there a specific moment or experience that made you want to use your platform to give back in this way?

We wake up every single day and are reminded of just how truly blessed we have been in our lives. And because of that, it is not only our joy but our responsibility to pay those blessings forward to as many people as possible. So, when we had the right opportunity, creating The Hardy Fund felt like a natural way to pour that same love and support back into others.

The Hardy Fund has already made a meaningful impact on so many lives. What has been the most rewarding part of that journey for each of you?

Having the opportunity to see when, where, how, and who these donations are supporting is more rewarding than I can really put into words. The Hardy Fund is literally changing peoples’ lives and we are blessed enough to be able to witness that! For me, the most rewarding part, so far, has been supplying our most vulnerable, local babies with donor breast milk through The Mothers’ Milk Bank Southeast. From our donation of “The Rosie Fund,” we have been able to supply $45,000 of life-changing nutrients to the babies that need it most.

During CMA Fest, you partnered with Trend Management to host a special event benefiting The Hardy Fund. Why was it important to create an event that combined great music with a meaningful cause?

First of all, we are still so honored to have been included in this unbelievable event with Trend! Ted and Dede Raad share our same vision of community and giving back—and throwing a fabulous party—so it was really a match made in Heaven. Our goal was to create something both entertaining and impactful and, thankfully, I think we did just that. I am so proud to say that we were able to raise more than $500,000 for Unlimited Play via The Hardy Fund! These funds will be put towards the construction of

the first all-inclusive playground in the Nashville area for handicap kids. Every child deserves a place to feel welcome, have fun, and play without barriers, and this playground will serve as that place for them.

The event brought together so many artists, industry friends, and fans. What did it mean to see that level of support for something so personal to you?

It meant everything to us! We say this all the time, but there is truly nothing like the country music community. Country music is uniquely filled with the most humble, generous, kind people and we are honored to call them our friends. Even beyond that, our family, friends, and Trend community showed up in ways that filled our hearts to the brim. The generosity we experienced that night will never be forgotten. The support and love we were shown is something we'll never take for granted.

As a surprise, HARDY brought out some of country music's biggest names throughout the night! What was your favorite moment from the event?

I don’t think this will come as a surprise to anyone, but there was a moment on stage when Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and Ella Langley joined Michael and Karen Fairchild on stage to sing “Better Man.” There wasn’t a single person in the room without full body chills! That was just one of the moments where you’re watching and thinking to yourself ‘oh my God, this is a once in a lifetime experience…’ Everyone was truly incredible that night, but that moment was a standout for sure.

You recently welcomed your daughter, Rosie! How has becoming parents changed the way you view success, priorities, and what truly matters?

Easy—the answer to everything is Rosie! What truly matters? Rosie. What are our priorities? Rosie. Having a happy, healthy, kind daughter is our view of success. Now, more than ever, we are reminded that family is everything. Without that, nothing else matters.

What have you learned about each other since becoming parents that has made you appreciate or admire one another even more?

Caleigh: One of the greatest joys of my life has been watching Michael become a Dad—and a girl dad, at that! The love and gentle

nature he shares with her absolutely melts my heart in ways I couldn’t even have fathomed. I have such a deep appreciation for him and the way he balances life on the road with coming home to be a present father and husband. It’s truly amazing.

Michael: What I have learned about Caleigh is that she has a superhero level of patience with our daughter. It is extraordinary to watch. She has always been patient—especially with me—but to see the way she moves with so much positivity, patience, and kindness with our daughter is something I truly admire.

You've both built your careers here in Nashville. What is your favorite part about calling this city home?

We adore Nashville! This city has seen Michael through the last sixteen years of his life, the last seven of mine… and God willing, a lot of years of life to come. It’s hard to pick a favorite thing about Nashville when there are so many things that separate it from the rest… its unmatched music and songwriting culture, cuisine, natural beauty, southern charm, historical roots, nightlife… I could go on and on! I’ll just say we are proud to call this city home.

Michael, between selling out arenas, topping the charts, and headlining major festivals, what's been the most surreal moment of this chapter of your career?

Winning BMI Songwriter of the Year. It’s an award that’s strictly based on stats, and it was a time where I was in the gauntlet as an artist, so to be able to celebrate a completely artist-separate award as a songwriter… knowing that during my hardest years as an artist, I had also written the most hit songs for other people in a calendar year… was a huge victory for me. It paved the way for me realizing I can sustain both careers at once; a realization that I will carry with me forever because of that award.

How has Nashville's creative community helped shape both your careers and your relationship?

The only answer I have is: I will die on the hill that Nashville songwriters are the best songwriters in the world. I got to learn from all of these amazing songwriters. There were moments early in my career where I would tell Caleigh, ‘I know I haven’t made it yet, but I think I’ve learned from the best and I think that knowledge is gonna take me somewhere.’

Caleigh’s confidence and support in that statement alone was a huge part in our relationship. I appreciated so much that she believed in me and what I saw for us. She never doubted me. Now, nearly ten years later when I look back, I am so thankful that

she trusted me and my confidence that I owe to the creative songwriting community in Nashville.

Caleigh, you've had a front-row seat to HARDY’s journey from the beginning. What has it been like watching his career evolve into what it is today?

Incredible. There isn’t a single person more deserving of this success than him. I have watched him work like a dog for years, with more passion and character than anyone I know. He has made songwriting history, bent music genres, inspired new generations of artists, sold out tours, been an incredible dad… all while staying true to himself through this whole process. His journey inspires me everyday.

What do you hope your daughter will someday learn from watching the way you've approached your careers, your family, and giving back?

More than anything, I hope she puts kindness first and understands the importance of loving people well. I hope she sees that success isn't just about accomplishments, it's about how you treat others, how you show up for your family, and how you use whatever platform you've been given to make a positive impact. If we can raise her to know how blessed she is and that it’s her responsibility to grow good in this world, then we will have done our jobs.

TREY & KATIE KENNEDY

ON MARRIAGE, KIDS, AND THE COMEDY OF REAL LIFE

Trey Kennedy makes a living finding comedy in regular life. Marriage. Toddlers. Yoga pants. The Thursday-night scramble between school dropoffs, soccer practice, and whatever has to be done by morning. Twelve years in, it shows: millions of followers across every platform, three stand-up specials, a sold-out Relatable Tour, and a style of humor fans send each other captioned, “Are you watching me?” He delivers the kind of comedy that travels because everyone’s living some version of it.

Katie, his wife of six years, is a former biomedical engineer who also built a modeling career. She’s now raising their kids and co-hosting Correct Opinions alongside Trey — the show where the two of them swap takes on marriage, parenting, and whatever came up that week.

Trey has been at this longer than people realize. An Edmond, Oklahoma kid who grew up playing basketball described himself as a “shy kid who never thought he’d be an entertainer.” He started making videos while attending Oklahoma State University. After building millions of followers on Vine before the platform shut down, he gave himself six months on Instagram and Facebook to see whether he could rebuild from zero. He did. Stand-up soon followed. His first special, Are You For Real?, streams on YouTube; the second, Grow Up, on Amazon Prime; the third, built around the Relatable Tour, wrapped earlier this year. “I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now,” he says. Most of what Trey writes lately starts in his own kitchen. Thomas is three and a half, and he is, in his father’s words, “a movie.” He narrates his own life from the moment his eyes open and mispronounces words in ways his parents now repeat to each other because no one else would believe them. His younger sister, Eva, is what Katie calls “the calm one.” With a third now in the mix, the Kennedys are officially outnumbered.

After six years of marriage, Trey and Katie have learned that the partnership runs best when it gets its own time on the calendar. So once a week, they leave the kids with a sitter and go out for coffee. “You need a system,” Katie says. “It’s about taking time to look each other in the eye. Not the kids. Not the cameras. Just each other.”

The same instinct shapes the work. Most of Trey’s trial and error happens onstage or on Instagram, but the first read is always Katie’s. “There’s only been one time ever I’ve had to be like, ‘you’re not doing that,’” she says. The rest of the time, she just laughs first.

Homemade Dog Food

My two pugs are more than pets—they’re part of the family. That’s why I started making their food at home, and it’s been one of the most popular posts on my blog. You may be surprised just how easy this recipe is. I add all the ingredients to my slow-cooker to cook, and my dogs love it. If you decide to try this recipe for your pet, please consult your veterinarian. Every dog has different needs based on age, weight, and any health issues. You can even share this recipe with your vet to see if any changes are needed. The ingredients are flexible and can be easily swapped to substitute the turkey for chicken or beef, and even try different dog-safe vegetables. Making dog food at home isn’t hard—it just takes a little planning, and my dogs love it.

Slow Cooker Homemade Dog Food

INGREDIENTS:

• 3 lbs ground turkey (85% lean)

• 1¼ cups frozen sweet potatoes

• 1½ cups frozen peas and carrots

• 1 cup frozen spinach

• 1½ cups uncooked brown or white rice

• 4 cups water

DIRECTIONS:

1. Add all ingredients to a slow cooker.

2. Break up the ground turkey and mix all the ingredients.

3. Cover and cook on High for 3–4 hours or Low for 6 hours, stirring occasionally.

Note: My dog food was ready in 3½ hours on High. Let cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freeze for later use.
