What are you thankful for, Mount Juliet? You know what I'm thankful for? Families like the Lawrence family who do good things with their good name for their community. We are so honored to share the legacy that Tracy Lawrence and his family are leaving in Wilson, Rutherford and Davidson counties with Mission: Possible. Our family is full of those who have served our country and we take a moment every chance we get to thank a veteran. In this issue we also shine a light on a story about forgiveness. With the beginning of the holiday season upon us beautiful memories are made but let us remember that taking this time to reflect and let go of pain and try to forgive others is what this season is about. Don't forget your neighbors. Take an opportunity to invite a new friend or neighbor to the table this year. You have no idea what others are going through - and how much kindness can go along way. Becoming a Country Legend is an incredible (and for most) unimaginable dream. Creating a lasting legacy? Well, that's even more difficult. Tracy & Becca Lawrence have done both inside the music business and with Mission: Possible.

A LOT HAS CHANGED IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY SINCE TRACY LAWRENCE WAS A "NEW ARTIST." GOING BACK TO THOSE EARLY DAYS, HOW DID YOU BREAK THROUGH, PERSEVERE, AND CONNECT WITH FANS? Radio and lots of live shows. I did 289 shows in my first full year on the road—some were two shows a day. Without radio, you had nothing. We were able to put out multiple songs a year on the radio to give the fans the ability to hear who we were.

To be focused on the music and not get distracted by the outside noise. It's easy to get caught up in the fame and the negativity that surrounds an artist, especially now with social media, but if you focus on the music and keep doing what you're doing, you can persevere.

YOUR NAME, TRACY LAWRENCE, CARRIES A LOT OF IMAGERY: COUNTRY STAR, COMMUNITY-DRIVEN HUMANITARIAN, FATHER, AND HUSBAND. WHAT DO ALL OF THESE HAVE IN COMMON, AND WHAT DRIVES YOU TO EXCEL IN EACH OF YOUR EFFORTS? These are all identities of who I am and who I have been for many years. Being passionate about what you're doing, no matter what it is, is what drives me to excel in these areas.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO BE SUCH A CHARITY-CONSCIOUS FIGURE IN OUR COMMUNITY? With all the great blessings I've had in my life, I really feel I am called to give back.

TO CELEBRATE YOUR 30TH YEAR IN THIS INDUSTRY, YOU STARTED A 3-VOLUME RELEASE: "HINDSIGHT." IT'S AN INCREDIBLE VOLUME OF MUSIC FEATURING HIT SONGS AND NEW RECORDINGS. YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB COUPLING YOUR HITS WITH NEW RELEASES; HOW DIFFICULT WAS IT TO PICK HOW THESE RELEASES FLOWED AND WHAT IS YOUR PROCESS FOR WRITING AND RECORDING THIS TYPE OF PROJECT? First of all, I've never done any project like this. It was a massive undertaking and overwhelming trying to figure out which old songs to include while weaving the compilations together. This project was so different that there was nothing normal about it. It doesn't conform to how I normally make a record.

IN 2006, YOU, ALONG WITH YOUR WIFE, BECCA, STARTED TRACY LAWRENCE "MISSION: POSSIBLE," A NON-PROFIT TURKEY FRY EVENT THAT HAS RAISED OVER $600,000 FOR NASHVILLE RESCUE MISSION AND HAS FRIED OVER 6,400 TURKEYS, PROVIDING OVER 90,000 MEALS TO THE UNHOUSED AND FOOD INSECURE PEOPLE OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE. WHAT WAS YOUR INITIAL THOUGHT IN STARTING YOUR TURKEY FRY? The simple goal of driving awareness to the Nashville Rescue Mission and giving back to the community. When we started frying turkeys, it was just a few people from church who brought their own propane tanks and fryers. We bought a few birds to fry and handed out the food to those in need. The rest was history.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE HOW IT FEELS TO STEP BACK AND LOOK AT THE TURKEY FRY AND WHAT YOU'VE ACCOMPLISHED WITH THE HELP OF FRIENDS AND SPONSORS? THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE YOU HAVE IMPACTED, FED, AND PROVIDED HOPE TO? We never imagined this event would grow into what it is today, but I am very proud of what we have accomplished, and I'm grateful for what we've been able to do and give back to the community.

Tuesday, November 22nd’s Turkey Fry will continue to provide turkeys to the Nashville Rescue Mission and the state’s Family Resource Center’s Thanksgiving Program in the following counties: Wilson, Davidson, Robertson, Smith, Sumner, and Trousdale County Schools, Lebanon Special School District, and Murfreesboro City Schools. Across these districts, Mission: Possible will provide an estimated 800 turkeys and 9,600 cans of food. Following the Turkey Fry, a benefit concert will be held at Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville. Lisia Tucker had a typical childhood growing up in NYC. She lived in a high-rise, played in the streets, and attended Catholic school while being raised with her two sisters by her father and grandmother. Tucker remembers playing with doll heads when they were young, never imagining it would later become her career. Her father was a bricklayer and didn’t particularly promote higher education. Instead, he encouraged his girls to focus on a trade, so Tucker began pursuing beauty school. What happened next changed everything. On New Year’s Eve, 1980, her father hit another motorist while under the influence of alcohol. The next day he left town and headed for Tennessee, hoping to avoid law enforcement. Tucker remembers crying the whole way to Nashville. Looking back, she says being here has been a blessing though it certainly didn’t feel like it at the time. The police eventually caught up to her dad, and at 17, she was placed into foster care. To this day, she is thankful that the state of Tennessee advocated for her to be able to continue in cosmetology school even after she aged out of the state custody program. Within a year, she received her GED in addition to completing her training and practice hours. Thus began a life-long career as a hair stylist. Even though higher education wasn’t encouraged in her family, Tucker knew she would own a salon one day. She often worked two jobs and attended school at night to get her accounting degree from Nashville Tech. In 1983 she started working at Just Hair on Murfreesboro Rd and later bought it as a co-owner in 1991. Before becoming a first-time business owner, she met and married her husband, and they made plans to purchase a home together. Having never owned a house and always eager to learn, Tucker added a real estate class to her school schedule, hoping it would help her better understand the home-buying process. One of her customers also pressed for her to sit for the real estate licensing exam, and she passed! As a realtor, Tucker kept hearing about the Mount Juliet area and rumors of “Providence,” so she took a risk and opened a salon on Adams Lane in 2005. Tucker has seen an immense change from the location up on the hill. She’s had a bird’s eye view to see Providence Shopping Mall and the surrounding residential areas grow over the last 17 years. Tucker says she “loves every ounce of it” and is excited to see the new developments behind their building. She enjoys knowing people can live, work, shop, and play right here in Mount Juliet.

The expansion of Providence has also meant significant growth for Aqua Bella Day Spa & Hair Studio. Tucker now has over 35 ladies on staff who offer a wide variety of services, including hair, nails, massage, skincare, waxing, makeup, and more! Almost half of the crew has been working with Tucker for 15 years or more. In an industry with frequent turnover, this is an unheard-of statistic! She shares how it warms her heart to see how beautifully they all get along. She says, “many of them are best friends who are in each other’s weddings and having kids together.” Beyond the friendships, she says they are incredible at what they do, which keeps her young! Tucker is also actively involved in the community. She has held several leadership positions and has served as a long-time member of various community and professional organizations. It’s evident how much pride she has in her town, stating, “Mount

Juliet is like a modern Mayberry. It’s different. It’s special here. I love it!” Lisia Tucker has come a long way from begging her dad not to bring her to Nashville. Today, even with the circumstances of her relocation, she’s incredibly thankful to live here. Tucker remarks that Tennessee has been good to her. Despite being in and out of foster homes, she recently celebrated 40 years as a hairstylist and has built a life with her husband of 34 years that she previously never knew existed. When Tucker isn’t behind the chair, she is often a speaker for women in business or cosmetology programs. She encourages her audience to put their mind to pursuing their dreams and not look in the rearview mirror. Tucker says she could have blamed many people for her situation, but once she forgave, everything opened up, and she’s never looked back. www.aquabelladayspa.com

Nishann LaNata is no stranger to military life. As the daughter and granddaughter of military veterans, she deeply understands the unique demands that come with life in a military household. Additionally, Nishann is the wife of a service member and continues to experience, firsthand, the distinct realities that come along with being part of a military family. Nishann began her career as a Financial Advisor for First Command in 2019. And after spending time in Japan's Yokota U.S. Air Force Base, she and her husband soon found their way to Tennessee in hopes of setting down their roots and starting a family together. Nishann continues her work as a Financial Advisor serving the Middle Tennessee area. She has proved to be an essential part of the First Command family and the impact they have on the lives of the many men and women who serve the U.S. and its communities. Since its inception in 1958, First Command has undergone many changes. Nishann uses her personal and professional experiences to incorporate First Command's methods of financial planning and coaching, guiding clients through the tasks of cash management, risk management, and wealth management. "We focus on financial security because it's defined differently for every person or family unit," she states, "... it's really just making sure folks are taken care of." They say a little among neighbors is worth more than riches in a wilderness. Wouldn’t it be ideal then if we got to know our neighbors better? This month we sat down with Jeff Gannon, the consummate neighbor. Gannon, a successful State Farm Agent, plans to expand into Lebanon in November 2022. In addition, his Mount Juliet office will move from its current location in Providence to 820 North Mount Juliet Road, in early 2023. What makes his story heartening is that not only is he a neighbor (as the State Farm jingle promises), he’s a hometown success story.

Gannon isn’t from Mount Juliet (in fact, Mount Juliet was considered his high school’s crosstown rival), but he grew up in Wilson County (Lebanon), and it was here that he established his roots. By all accounts, he had the quintessential high school experience, replete with football and a high school sweetheart. His college career took him to the University of Tennessee. After obtaining a degree in business, he ultimately decided to pursue his goal of becoming a State Farm Agent. Insurance was more or less the family business, as his mother worked for State Farm for an impressive 40 years. His career with State Farm gave way to some exciting opportunities, like allowing him to travel throughout the country to provide training to agents in the various products they offered. However, his path always led him back home. “This is home. I love the people. Middle Tennessee is an easy place to travel to/from centrally located and now a popular place to visit. I love the seasons. I love living close - within a two-hour drive of Knoxville, TN; go Vols - GBO (my home away from home).” Gannon’s family and Agency team keep him tightly integrated into the Wilson County community. He’s been married to his high school sweetheart, Felicia, for 21 years. They’ve raised three children, all of which are involved in competitive sports within the community. His family has served as an unyielding support system, allowing him to take risks and achieve his career goals. Buoying that strength is his work crew, who have similarly been team-oriented and have created a solid foundation for his State Farm Agency to thrive. And given that his career has now culminated in moving into two new locations (including Mount Juliet and Lebanon), Gannon has been quite the success and has brought it all full circle. His ultimate vision is “to support both ends of the county and service an important role as a name and brand you can trust when it comes to insuring the things you value the most. We are truly, ‘like a good neighbor,’ and ‘we live where you live.’”

• Build a menu around the season. “In November, people crave turkey, sage stuffing and cranberry sauce,” Chef Kyle says. “Autumn dinners mean bigger-course meals with varied proteins, like turkey, duck and sirloin, hearty starches, and good fall produce, especially root vegetables such as butternut squash and pumpkin.” • Always greet guests with a beverage and appetizers. “Offer champagne for wine-lovers or a sparkling drink or signature cocktail. It’s all about serving guests to the highest caliber,” Kyle says. • Draw inspiration from the season’s changing colors, cooler temps and lower humidity to move back outdoors. “Think flannel blankets, wooden tables, fire pits, open grills, string lights and candles to create a really cool environment you haven’t been able to do all summer.” • “You can’t go wrong with fresh flowers,” Hannah says, “but keep bouquets low to not interfere with conversation flowing. For fall, I like richer, jewel-toned florals to mix and match and keep whimsical. I vary glass vases with burnished brass for warm fall vibes.” • An easy but thoughtful detail is to put a simple menu at each place setting, so guests know what to expect. “Add a pen, so guests can jot tasting notes, especially for wine pairings or multiple courses,” Hannah says. “Guests can share comments, then take the menu home as a sweet reminder of the event.” • Follow the French principle of mise en place or everything in place before your event. “This is actually our company’s name,” Kyle says. “It’s that important to us. Make sure the wines are all open, cocktails are pre-made, place settings are out, candles are lit and music is playing. When guests arrive, it gives that wow-factor and shows you intentionally made them feel special.” • To build confidence as a host, start small and practice. “Keep the menu and guest list small,” Kyle says. “Choose recipes you already have confidence in. If you make a great Beef Stroganoff, then go with that. People will love it!” • As fun as it is to dine outside, always have an indoors back-up plan. “We’ve had to bring it indoors before,” Hannah says. “It’s still fun.”
