overwhelming amount of talent, opportunity and growth that encompasses what it means to be a part of Mount Juliet Life. My passion is rooted in connecting and supporting local businesses. As a photographer and small business consultant for the past 11 years, I have gained perspective in what matters as a business owner working in a small community. I am a small town girl at heart, growing up in the hills of wine country on the west coast. I understand the delicacy and art of community and local business. My husband Scott and I and two girls arrived in this town of middle Tennessee three years ago ready to absorb what it meant to be a part of Mount Juliet. We are home, and we are so grateful to serve "Home Sweet Home, Mount Juliet." With love,

THE YEAR OF THE PIVOT After intense storms the weekend before Easter, many businesses were found completely devastated and shut down. This didn’t stop New Tribe Church from figuring out a solution and still showing up on Easter Sunday. The beautiful weather and outside venue led to a memorable morning followed by an easter egg hunt for the kids.

A year after moving to MJ, she began her first of two companies, Bustle & Buzz, where she managed social media marketing for small businesses. who Lillian Beretta & Gabby Shepherd
When Lillian Beretta started her one-woman painting business in 2002 she never imagined the incredible way it would evolve and open doors for her family. She grew the way many small businesses do; through blood, sweat, tears and saying “yes”, then figuring it out. Over the course of a few short years she expanded her services to offer decorative painting, cabinet refinishing and custom window treatments and transformed some of the most prominent homes in her area alongside a full time crew. When Lillian’s daughter, Gabrielle Shepherd, came on board they expanded their offerings to include both home and event styling and birthed their company, Design Muse. “While we style a handful of large events every year, the majority of what we do is in people’s homes.” Gabrielle says, “It’s such a privilege to be invited into a family’s space to help them make it a place they love to be. The truth is, how you feel about your home and in your home matters so much. Your house provides the backdrop for day to day life, special occasions, and so much more but decorating can be an overwhelming project. Our team enjoys and appreciates the opportunity to bring something so special to life.” Design Muse is based in Mt. Juliet and specializes in unique ideas, creative problem solving and produces gorgeous results. They offer a wide variety of services including room layouts, furniture and accessories selection, carpentry projects, and much more.

who Rachel Van Kluyve
Rachel Van Kluyve is a Nashville native, homeschooling mama to three little ones, wife to her teenage heartthrob, and a "creative" pursuing her purpose one dream at a time. She's on a mission and brings her family on the journey in everything she does. Who says moms can't dream big, be at home with their kids, and be successful? Rachel and Richard, her husband, own a successful real estate company, have built their dream farmhouse, and own two vacation first rental properties. All of that serves Rachel's core passion: design. She has captured and inspired her audience with the reality that design doesn't have to break the bank. In fact, Rachel loves taking something old and repurposing it to something new and more beautiful. Rachel takes the same purpose-driven mindset into her marriage, homeschool, business, relationships, and all arenas of life. At the core of who she is, her heart beats to find purpose and create intention in every square foot of a house; because home is more than just the four walls that hold it together. It is the space held together with purpose, intention, fun, and traditions. She inspires her audience at CrateandCottage.com, in her first book, She Made Herself A Home, and on her podcast, She Made Herself A Home. She has been featured in national magazines, on Jesus Calling Podcast, Fresh Start Family, Living Easy Podcast, news shows like Talk of The Town, and so much more. who Ashlee Vallett & Kara Edwards
@nashvilleportraitgal
Ashlee and Kara are the co-owners of L.O.F.T. Photography Studio. L.O.F.T. (Leaning On Faith Together) was born out of a desire and drive to form a community that supports creative artists. It was built on the hope that others would desire to grow and build a collaborative community. After three years of working together Kara and Ashlee discovered that togetherness is imperative in an artistic community, thus fostering a business model that would shine light on community over competition and a location allowing photographers the opportunity to grow and create without bearing the financial burden of their own studio. Kara said meeting Ashlee was like finding a kindred spirit. Someone who truly wants to encourage and support the community around her in all that she does. L.O.F.T Photography Studios is just an extension of that bond and spirit for them.

who Kristen Bloom
Kristen Bloom is a mother, wife, and owner of Bloom Bash, who relocated to Mt. Juliet from Maine in 2018. She graduated from Western New England University with a B.S. in Management and has since held careers in sales and customer service, as well as higher education in both admissions and advising. While she enjoys working with students, Kristen knew she needed a creative outlet. June of 2020 brought on new challenges due to Covid. One of which was planning her son’s 1st birthday. Always having decorated and planned family parties, party options were limited due to Covid. However, this allowed Kristen to put her creative side to work and birth Bloom Bash during the summer of 2020 when Kristen began creating balloon backdrops for parties across all of Middle Tennessee. Kristen loves being able to take something ordinary and transform it into something eye-catching. Her favorite part of the job is that it doesn’t feel like a job at all. To Kristen, the best part of her job is being able to create the perfect backdrop to any event, and getting to know members of her community. CityLifestyle.com/MountJuliet

PACK YOUR SMALL SPACES WITH A BIG PUNCH BY STARTING YOUR OWN CONTAINER GARDEN
IT MAY BE THAT YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH SPACE TO WORK WITH; MAYBE YOU ARE ALWAYS ON-THE-MOVE; OR, MAYBE YOU JUST SIMPLY COLOR TO YOUR SPACE. It doesn’t matter what your reason may be. Container gardening—the practice of growing plants exclusively in containers rather than in the ground—is a great way to pack some punch into a small (or portable!) space. With container gardening, there are almost endless possibilities. Whether you’re looking to grow decorative plants or edible ones, there’s likely an option for you— and it doesn’t have to be limited to simply growing herbs

Different plants grow best in different environments, so be sure to choose species that will thrive where you’ve decided to put them—making sure they are receiving the proper amount of sunlight and moisture.

Here are a few other things to be aware of when you get started: CONTAINER SIZES: Large containers may be easier to grow plants in than small since
they have more space for large root systems and larger amounts of soil retain more moisture. + CONTAINER DRAINAGE: Your container must have a drainage system—even if it’s just a few holes you drill in it yourself. For plants that need to be watered more frequently, consider self-watering containers. + CONTAINER MATERIALS: The fun thing about container gardens is that you don’t have to limit yourself. Get creative with the containers you use (while keeping the above information in mind)! We love repurposing vintage items into unique containers.
