Dear Neighbors,
Some seasons of life feel like a quiet whisper… and others arrive like a full-body wake-up call. Lately, I’ve been living inside one of those louder seasons — the kind that asks you to take inventory of your life, your energy, your relationships, and your dreams.
This issue is an ode to investment in its truest, most human form. Not just the dollars we put away or the portfolios we plan for, but the everyday choices that shape our well-being, our joy, and our sense of belonging.

It’s the investment of time — lingering over a long lunch with someone who matters, discovering a new favorite spot like the legendary Granato's Deli, or spending a Saturday exploring local gems that remind us why this community feels so special.
It’s the investment in experiences — booking that family trip, saying yes to a weekend getaway with friends, or learning something new together. This month, we spotlight ways to adventure both near and far — from inspired travel to unexpected local fun like sharpening your swing at Apex Golf.
It’s the investment in connection — tuning into a great local podcast (we share a few worth your time), gathering with people who fill your cup, or supporting local nonprofits like Sammy’s Buddy Program, who remind us that showing up is one of the greatest investments any of us can make.
And maybe most importantly, it’s the investment in yourself — your growth, your confidence, your creativity, your well-being. Meet six community experts and builders who seek to inspire your next chapter through their new book: Health & Hustle. It’s launching on April 2. We invite you to join the launch and movement.
As always, it’s an honor to bring you the stories, businesses, and voices shaping the heartbeat of this community. My hope is that this issue invites you to pause, breathe, and consider: Where do I want to invest more deeply this season?
The life you want is always built through the choices you make today — the time you protect, the people you love, the experiences you say yes to, and the vision you’re brave enough to claim.
Now close your eyes, put your hand over your heart and take a long intentional breath with me for like 8 seconds. Mmmm... That felt good. Enjoy this issue. Here’s to investing in what truly matters.
Thank you for being part of this community I love so deeply.

Millcreek is buzzing with exciting venues that cater to a variety of interests, from active entertainment to social hangouts. Here’s a look at four standout businesses that are redefining fun in the area.

Slick City East Salt Lake, owned by Jordan Wade and Matt Lambeth, is the newest addition to the indoor active entertainment industry. Wade and Lambeth bring a wealth of experience to their venture, having worked together for more than a decade at Sky Zone, the world’s largest trampoline park company. During their tenure, they oversaw the construction and operation of hundreds of trampoline parks worldwide.
After leaving Sky Zone, the duo spent two years searching for the perfect opportunity to bring Slick City to Utah. Now, they’re excited to introduce what they describe as “the newest, most exciting product in the indoor active entertainment industry” to the state. As a new business, Slick City promises to deliver a fresh, exhilarating experience to Utah residents.
Mini Golf Meets Modern Fun
Lauren and Collin Dumke, owners of Rounds Putt Lounge, have created a space where mini golf meets modern socializing. This indoor venue features automated scoring mini golf, a variety of drinks, food, and an arcade, making it a destination for all ages and skill levels.
“Our space is designed to be highly inclusive for all golfing abilities, while still being effortlessly competitive thanks to the automatic scoring system,” the Dumkes said. Rounds Putt Lounge is a popular choice for birthday parties, company events, and casual outings with family and friends. With a beer license, dirty sodas, and a welcoming atmosphere, the venue focuses on creating a social experience that’s both fun and accessible.
For more than 60 years, Olympus Hills Lanes has been a fixture on the East bench. Originally known as Wasatch Lanes, the bowling center was purchased by owner Gordon Lindstrom in 1999. What Lindstrom initially envisioned as a 10-year venture has turned into a thriving business that continues to serve the community.
“The success of the business is due to our awesome managers and employees,” Lindstrom said. Among the dedicated team are Stephen, who has been with the center since 1990 and oversees equipment and maintenance, and Meridee, who manages customer service and the snack bar. With a strong team of employees, Olympus Hills Lanes offers a great experience for both open-play and league bowlers.
A Pickleball Powerhouse
The Picklr, started by Jorge Barragan, is making waves in the pickleball world. Partnering with Pickleball Inc. and Super Bowl champion Drew Brees, the company has sold over 500 locations worldwide. Barragan credits the sport’s success to the community that has rallied around it.
Pickleball connects people, regardless of skill level. Pickleball is a fast-growing paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong and is played on a smaller court with a lower net. The game is typically played in doubles or singles, using a paddle and a perforated plastic ball, making it a fun and social activity that’s easy to learn but offers plenty of competitive challenge.

Thirty years ago, a promise was made — that when a child enters crisis, they would not be met with fear, but with care.
That promise has now protected more than 185,000 children across Utah and beyond.
Thirty years built this mission. The next thirty will sustain it.
Help ensure that children in crisis are protected — not just today, but for generations to come.
Every child deserves a childhood.

Granato’s, a family-owned Italian market and deli, remains a cherished cornerstone of the Salt Lake City community. Built on tradition, hard work, and a love of good food— recipes are handed down, and every customer is treated like family. Frank Granato, the third-generation owner, says friendliness and customer service have kept the business thriving for nearly eighty years.
Founded in 1948, Frank Granato Sr. opened a small shop on 8th South and 2nd West in Salt Lake City, Utah. From those humble beginnings, Granato’s has expanded distribution throughout Idaho, Colorado, and Utah. “The pastas, the sauces, and the Italian sandwich recipes have all remained untouched through the generations,” Frank says.

Moving into the 4th generation, Frank’s two sons have stepped into the family business. Jake runs the distribution side of the business, while Thomas manages the delis and more of the dayto-day operations. With ingredients sourced locally whenever possible, Granato’s continues to support regional farmers and producers.
“My dad always says, ‘We don’t want to be the biggest, we just want to be the best,’” Frank shared.
With economic downturns and industry shifts, Frank says it’s important to maintain hard work and determination. “A door opens but you have to be willing to go through it. Take the opportunities, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone.”
With the growing demand for fast-casual chains and big-box grocery stores, many neighborhood shops have felt the pressure to compete with convenience and scale. “We stay true to the recipes in the ‘Granatos’ aspect, but we realized in the locations that we had, a full grocery store could not be sustained.”
That is the reason Granato’s evolved into a food hall, making it a diverse resource for new restaurants of all ethnicities. “We knew we had to adapt and change, so we made way for other businesses to get a start, and get in here to grow.”

DR. WOLF AND APEX GOLF ARE REDEFINING THE GAME
For golfers chasing the perfect swing, the answer isn't always found in a new driver or a lighter set of irons. Sometimes the breakthrough comes from addressing what's happening inside the body. That's the philosophy behind the partnership between Dr. Taylor Wolf of Elevated Sport & Spine and the team at Apex Golf—a collaboration that's helping players build swings that work with their bodies, not against them.
ARTICLE BY AIMEE L. COOK PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
"At Elevated Sport & Spine, I provide one-on-one care for an hour; some people will need to be adjusted, but it is more movement-based," Taylor

explained. "We want to get to the root cause of why you may need to be adjusted in the first place, and it is very golf-based."
Wolf's approach centers on movement-based rehabilitation and performance care rather than traditional adjustment-focused treatment. The goal is to identify and correct the physical limitations that prevent golfers from achieving their best swing—whether that's restricted thoracic mobility, hip instability, or other biomechanical issues that show up on the course.
"Elevated Sport & Spine is not an 'adjustment-first' chiropractic office with most patients," Wolf explained. "While adjustments can absolutely be one tool we use when appropriate, our model is much more movement-based and performance-focused. The core of what we do is identifying the root cause of pain or performance limitations, improving movement quality, and helping golfers build a body that can support the swing they’re trying to create."
What makes this partnership unique is its combination of personalized coaching and advanced technology. Apex Golf uses FullSwing simulator technology and 4-D Motion systems to capture every detail of a player's swing. But while the data is invaluable, it's the human element that drives results.
"Our process is very personalized," Taylor said. "The coaches take the time to get to know each player and understand them first. Then they help them achieve the best swing possible for their body and their goals."
Between the two Apex Golf facilities, five PGA-Certified Teachers bring over 25 years of teaching experience to the table. At the Brickyard location, instructors Jace Russell and Rich Johnstun have taught thousands of lessons, offering

course management strategies and swing expertise that technology alone can't replicate. The coaching comes first; the technology enhances it.
This dual approach addresses both sides of the equation. Apex Golf's instructors help golfers develop a swing that fits their body, while Wolf ensures their body can support that swing. It's a long-term strategy focused on pain-free play, improved movement, better performance, and longevity in the game.
At Apex Golf, it's about more than just technology – it's a holistic approach to your game and well-being. Combining expert coaching, personalized swing techniques, and tailored physical conditioning, they ensure every golfer gets the tools, guidance, and support needed to play stronger, feel better, and enjoy a lifelong passion for golf.
For golfers who want to play without pain well into their later years, or competitive amateurs looking to improve their handicap, this partnership offers a comprehensive solution. It's where expert instruction meets movement-based care, creating an environment where players can build sustainable improvement—one swing at a time.

As a coach, I have worked with numerous business owners. CEO’s and entrepreneurs who are excelling in their fields, but hopelessly struggling with their health. Autoimmune conditions, gut dysbiosis, insomnia, and an over-reliance on substances to “get through the day” when they are supposed to be… living the dream. Mentally, they tell themselves, “I can handle it,” while they lose sleep, skip meals, postpone therapy for the fifth month in a row, and normalize symptoms that would concern them in anyone else.
For many entrepreneurs or ambitious professionals, the driving force is the desire for freedom. Financial freedom, autonomy, control over their schedule, and building success on their terms. And yet, even when the success is there, this freedom quickly dwindles. Time is spent in doctors’ offices, money is spent on medications, and days off are spent recovering rather than pursuing their personal goals.
Somewhere along the way, many high performers accepted the idea that health and success cannot coexist. They’ve settled on the fact that success must cost you your mental or physical health. This simply isn’t true. Utah, in particular, offers a fascinating cultural case study. This is a state built on a lot of sugar-fueled ambition. There’s a huge population of small business owners, growing tech start-ups, and competitive/professional mountain sports athletes, and I believe this has a large social impact. The air here carries a certain expectation: build more, train harder, optimize everything. These populations all have something in common… They hustle. As a business owner and outdoor enthusiast myself, I feel this pressure too. I recognize the incessant push to produce, to perform, and to prove myself. I feel the not-so-subtle pressure to keep climbing financially, physically, and socially.
But there’s a cost when hustle becomes identity.

In high-achieving environments like ours, work can slowly shift from meaningful to mechanical. And when work becomes mechanical, it becomes easier to justify self-neglect. We create endless goals and continue to fill our calendars as we lose sight of the necessary processes that keep our bodies and brains successful. Slowly, productivity becomes proof of worth. Rev. Christopher T. Scuderi writes, “Without purpose, work becomes mechanical. With purpose, it becomes meaningful.”
Unfortunately, we’ve recognized that the very drive that gets you to the top is what can also erode the foundation. In Health and Hustle: Where Success Is Built, Charles writes, “The irony is that business

owners understand systems better than almost anyone.” And yet, the one system they often neglect is the one they operate within every day… their own physiology. High performers often track revenue and performance metrics, and they analyze strategy and workflow. However, few are taught how to regulate stress, protect sleep, stabilize energy, and build resilience.
Health and Hustle: Where Success Is Built is a book that challenges the cultural myth that burnout is the price of ambition. As contributors, we came together to put our experience and wisdom all in one place. No one really needed another business book discussing motivation and organization, but we kept seeing the same patterns despite being in different industries and working with diverse populations.
Part of the inspiration for this book came from our personal journey in entrepreneurship. At one point, we have all been

“As health professionals, we care deeply about the people who make up our community.”
successful business owners and health professionals on paper, but exhausted in our lives. After reflecting on our own personal experiences, we began to see this pattern in our clients, too. High performers have been taught how to build revenue, teams, and visibility, but hardly ever taught how to maintain their mental capacity, stress resilience, and physical health.
One of the most powerful aspects of Health and Hustle is not just the message, but the range of voices behind it. We co-authored this book very intentionally because the truth is, sustainable success requires input from mental health professionals, performance experts, clinicians, coaches, and entrepreneurs who have lived in the tension between ambition and depletion. What made this collaboration meaningful was not just professional alignment, but simply proximity. We live here, we raise our families here, and our business has its roots right here in Utah. We have all, in different ways, witnessed the quiet cost of ambition in Utah. Instead of continuing to work in parallel, we chose to work together. None of us alone holds the full picture, so together, we put together a collection of wisdom to strengthen the whole person behind the performance. The goal was not simply to publish a book. It was to spark a broader local conversation and to give language to a tension many people feel but rarely articulate.
As health professionals, we care deeply about the people who make up our community… the founders, parents, athletes, leaders, and neighbors we see every day. We don’t just want to see Utah succeed economically or professionally; we want to see everyone thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our hope is to help build a culture where ambition and health grow side-by-side, strengthening both the individual and the community as a whole.
Truly, Utah’s culture of ambition is something to be proud of. We innovate, we build within our community, and we push limits both in business and in the mountains. However, for sustainable success, ambition cannot come at the price of depletion. We can build companies, train for summits, launch startups, build up our community, and chase our life goals without digging ourselves into physical debt in the process.
That is the conversation we hope to continue.

Programs that encourage connection and understanding can make a real difference in schools and communities. One example is Sammy’s Buddy Program, which pairs students with and without disabilities to build friendships and create more inclusive school environments. I spoke with Anne Kimble about the program, how it works, and why inclusion is so important. “At its core, Sammy’s Buddy Program exists because every person, every student, every child deserves to belong,” Kimble said. “Our mission is to build community and connection among students of all abilities, but it truly boils down to belonging.” The program works by creating real opportunities for students to interact and form relationships. Kimble explained, “The solution to loneliness, the solution to isolation, and the solution to creating connection and belonging doesn’t simply live in the programs we create. It lives in the people who participate.” Activities like games, group events, and field trips help break down barriers, allowing students to show who they really are. “When they let those walls down, they can really experience who the other person is,” Kimble said. “That’s where the magic happens.” She shared a story from one of her first schools in Utah that illustrates the impact. A student in the special education classroom struggled to communicate, and teachers worried he might be hard to include. Two fifth-grade boys stepped in and found a way to connect with him, creating a system that the teachers later used in class. “It opened up an entirely new world for that student,” Kimble said. “He could

engage in the classroom, at lunch, and at recess. And it was just as meaningful for the two boys; they realized they had something to contribute and could make a difference in someone else’s life.” Programs like Sammy’s Buddy Program show how meaningful connections can change lives, for students with disabilities and for their peers. Fostering inclusion, empathy, and friendship helps schools become communities where every student truly belongs.

Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort Provides a Luxury Base Camp
There’s something magical about the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort. Situated right where Arizona’s iconic Sonoran Desert meets contemporary comfort, this isn’t just another hotel—every detail invites you to relax, have fun, and soak up the best of Scottsdale.
Whether you’re planning a big family getaway or a quiet escape for two, there’s a spot for you. Kids will rush straight to the family pool, complete with a waterslide and a real sand beach entry. For adults, there’s a separate pool with a chill vibe, perfect for unwinding with a drink and snack.

Every restaurant at the resort is guided by Chef Richard Blais—the guy you’ve seen on Top Chef. I dined at La Zozzona, the Italian-inspired eatery. The beet-and-fig salad is craveable, and the signature dish, Rigatoni “Alla Zozzona,” has a hint of spice that wakes all the senses. After the heavier meal, an Affogato was the perfect capper. I also enjoyed the Arizona Benny at Mesa Centrale, who knew green chili hollandaise could be such an enhancement!
Nights at the Grand Hyatt have their own energy, too. The Grand Vista Lounge comes to life from Thursday to Saturday with live music that sets the perfect mood for a fun, social evening.
Location-wise, you couldn’t ask for better. You’re just minutes from Old Town Scottsdale, shopping, golf and hiking. I dined at Hush Public House, and the chef-driven menu put me on a culinary adventure. Try the whipped eggplant with braised lamb neck and grilled pita, and the duck confit fried rice—both are incredible.
Consider the resort as your home base for the best of the region.
“Grand Hyatt Scottsdale is designed to be a destination in itself — a place where guests can unwind, explore, and experience the very best of the Sonoran Desert. From family-friendly programming and resort-style amenities to our signature dining concepts led by Chef Richard Blais, we aim to create an atmosphere that feels both elevated and welcoming for every type of traveler.” Taylor Davidson, marketing manager.
All in all, the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale goes above and beyond to create a getaway that’s lively, memorable, and totally Scottsdale.

“GRAND HYATT SCOTTSDALE RESORT IS A TRUE DESERT OASIS IN THE HEART OF SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA, OFFERING EVERY STUNNING AMENITY AND ATTRACTION YOU CAN IMAGINE — A DESTINATION IN ITSELF WHERE UNPARALLELED HOSPITALITY, CURATED EXPERIENCES/PACKAGES, AND ELEVATED LUXURY OFFERINGS AWAIT.” —STUART EVANS, DIRECTOR OF SALES/ MARKETING.
