Your Dog Wants Things Back To Normal As Well

YOUR DOG WANTS THINGS BACK TO NORMAL AS WELL! Being a dog parent is not easy. And being a dog owner with a full-time job that requires you to go into

WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT WE ARE READY FOR OUR LIVES TO GET BACK TO NORMAL. AND OUR PETS ARE READY TOO!

an office daily can be a challenge. After spending 24x7 with your beloved pet since the COVID-19 lockdown began, you may find yourself asking, “what am I going to do with my fur baby while I’m at work?” Given that most dogs are very social animals that love being around people, the thought of you leaving your canine child home alone is disconcerting. If you are someone who works from home, you may not find yourself needing to address the issue that many others will be facing soon. At the same time, you have realized that your canine friend has become a little stir-crazy being only with you at home day-today. You know the look, while you are working at your desk daily, “please take me for a walk or to the park to play!” Yes, dogs are just like us, they long for activity and socialization. And it can be challenging caring for a pet in between back to back conference calls daily. In addition to the existing dog owners prior to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there are thousands of new pet moms and dads that have never crossed this bridge before. Having to care for a pet while working outside of the home. Pet shelters in major cities across the US have seen a major surge in adoptions since the initial Covid-19 lock down began earlier this year. It is wonderful that so many dogs now have forever homes, but it is concerning that some new dog owners may not realize the inherent needs of their new canine family member. There is also concern for the mental state of newly adopted dogs that have been getting unlimited attention and affection over the last few months. During that time, they became acclimated and comfortable in their new environment. Once their owner returns to work, they may possibly become depressed and lonely being left home alone for long hours. Regardless of whether you work out of the home or at home, the amount of time you will be able to spend with your dog once your routine gets back to normal could be challenging. The good news is that there are several options for your dog to get the exercise, socialization, and affection that they desire and need. CONTINUED >

Take them for walk in the park, on a play date with another dog of similar temperament or provide them play time in a secure off-leash area such as a dog park. + Check with your office to see if it is pet friendly environment and will allow you to bring your dog to work with you one or more days a week. Of course, consideration should be given to how your dog will react in a new environment and around new people. + Explore finding and hiring a trustworthy and experienced Dog Walker to come into your home daily to take your dog out on walks while you are at work. THE APPROACHING HOLIDAY SEASON IS GOING TO BE QUITE DIFFERENT FROM ANY THANKSGIVING, CHRISTMAS, HANUKKAH, OR KWANZAA THAT WE HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE. Just because all of the gatherings will be small, it does not mean that they cannot be elegant. And, just because they are elegant, it does not mean that they have to be difficult! Everyone always frets over what drinks to serve. Post Meridiem; Midtown, Atlanta’s own craft cocktail in a can company has the perfect bar for all of your holiday parties. It is like having your own mixologist ready right when you need them! While we all love the holiday season, entertaining at home is wrought with pitfalls and typically serving a craft cocktail is too expensive. They are either too messy, or they take too long to make. Are they shaken or stirred? There are frankly just too many steps and who has the time anyway? Now close your eyes and just imagine your guests arriving to your holiday party and being greeted by a choice of either a classic Double Old Fashioned, a fanciful Hemmingway Daiquiri, a superb Mai Tai, a Lemongrass Vodka Gimlet, or even a delicious Margarita? Sounds impossible, right? Well not any longer; Post Meridiem has all of your holiday drinks ready for you and they are as easy as shaking up the cleverly designed, hyper-functional can of top shelf distilled spirits, imported liqueurs, and 100% real Juice and pouring them over ice. Imagine how delighted your guests will be! It is finally time to raise the bar, celebrate smarter, and elevate your holiday entertaining at the same time. So, sit back and relax, all you really need to do is grab some fancy ice cubes and a couple of nice glasses. Take the science out of entertaining and become the true holiday hero you always wanted to be. Just remember that you are just a garnish away from being the perfect holiday bartender. Join the craft cocktail resurgence and celebrate the holidays in style with a classic American cocktail!

In short, by appreciating what we have, and not concentrating on what we don’t have, we build our “gratitude muscles” and remove ourselves from the instant gratification treadmill. Instead, as we uncover what’s most meaningful, we can focus on structuring our financial lives to live within our means and on establishing a path that leads to realizing our dreams. Much of the stress and pressure we feel about money can then be relieved.

FINANCIAL BUZZ (CONTINUED)

Here are some practical steps you can take to more fully practice being grateful and to reflect gratitude in your financial life: 1. Make Gratitude a Habit: Consistent gratefulness takes practice to cultivate. It takes a bit of time and effort on a regular basis, so pick a time each day, whether it’s first thing or at bedtime, to think about what you appreciate most. 2. Write It Down: Research has shown that expressing gratefulness in written form helps to solidify the positive effects. It’s also helpful to be able to refer to and review your record. 3. Extend Your Personal Version of Gratitude to Your Financial Plan: At least once in a lifetime, everyone should work with a professional to create a goals-based financial plan. Use your focus on the good things in life to better inform your goals. Work with an objective professional to make a plan or to review yours. 4. Understand and Use the Financial Tools Available to You: Every good financial plan includes personalized ways to make the most of your money. Whether it’s maximizing asset growth through savings and investment strategies, or minimizing taxes through effective planning and strategies, such as using Donor Advised Funds and other tax-advantaged tools for charitable giving, the right plan will reflect both your personal vision and a framework to make the most of your hard-earned dollars along the way.

If your gathering place is open to the elements then designate a spot indoors, such as a corner in your coat closet, to store your outdoor pillows and blanket on those dewy nights and rainy days.
