BACK, SWOLLEN KNEES, THE LIST GOES ON. We can all name something that has been bothering us for a long time. It seems we go to doctor appointments after doctor appointments, but nothing seems to help. Men, let me tell you firsthand, it’s time for some self-care, and cryotherapy is definitely a great solution for that. When I walked into Cryotherapy Plus Luxury Spa in Akron, I definitely walked out as a changed person. Cryotherapy exposes the body to ultra-cold temperatures which “sort of tricks your body into [thinking] it’s freezing to death so it will boost your endorphins and metabolism so throughout the day, you’ll burn an extra 500-800 calories,” according to Sandra Noll owner of Cryotherapy Plus Luxury Spa. I actually got to try it for myself and it was intense, to say the least. Unlike an ice bath, your body will get used to the cold temperatures, then relax afterward. With cryotherapy, it can be done before or after a workout and you’ll feel ready to keep going throughout your day. When I was in there, my body felt numb at first – I felt a burning sensation in the areas where my muscles were tighter. Yes, that sounds scary. But afterward, your body begins to heat up quickly, and, depending on the person, you can feel the results right away or within a couple of days.

If you’re not ready for a full-body cryo, they give localized cryo to specific areas so you can understand what it will feel like for your whole body. Sandra went on to tell me, “It’s not like pain medicine because after a while [with] pain medicine you have to take more and more. Well, with cryo you don’t have to do that – it’s consistently helping you.”

Aside from the cryotherapy, the spa also offers an infrared sauna, a salt booth, KaasenLife – Cryo Body Sculpting, Zerobody Dry Float Bed, RecoveryPump Boots and spray tans. The infrared sauna has different settings like cardio, detox, pain relief, relaxation, weight loss and skin health. The salt booth can help to detoxify, improve your respiratory system, remove allergens and toxins from your respiratory system and open your airway passages. The KaasenLife uses pressurized carbon dioxide on your skin to remove toxins and fat cells. It can help you lose inches, tighten loose skin and decrease cellulite. One of my favorite things in the spa was the Dry Float Bed because it took the pressure off of my back and made me feel like I was cocooned. The Dry Float is meant to enhance mood, reduce stress and improve sleep. My experience at the spa was amazing, and all I can tell you is that you need to experience it for yourself. I felt much more energetic, relaxed and refreshed after leaving, and even days later. Whether you’re super active in sports, hobbies, manual labor or other activities, visiting consistently to this spa can make a difference in your life. Sandra mentioned often that these services are to “help with the aging process.” Life can take a toll on our bodies and it’s important to take care of them now. THE FOUNDRY SOCIAL The Foundry Social, a 30,000-square-foot indoor playground located in the Foundry Entertainment Complex, specializes in exceeding expectations. From skee ball and billiards to duckpin bowling, a video game wall dubbed “The Arena,” ping pong, bocce and favorite old school arcade games such as Pac-Man and Mortal Kombat, they quite literally have it all. Since opening in November 2019, it’s quickly turned into a local attraction and a coveted weekend hangout spot. Aside from its plethora of nostalgic games, it has a full-service bar, party and event space rooms and dining menu featuring dishes that are more than your average pub fare. From a build-your-own burger option to smoked meatballs smothered in out-of-this-world barbecue sauce, the Foundry Social’s bar menu offers traditional American cuisine with a twist. Similarly, their cocktail list offers recognizable booze-filled beverages with unique flavor combinations. Such drinks include their PB&J Old Fashioned, featuring bourbon, peanut butter whiskey, raspberry liquor, bitters and demerara syrup, as well as their Foundry Spritz, a rendition of the traditional Aperol Spritz. The combination of nostalgic fun and deliciously unique culinary options have made Foundry Social a popular destination for gatherings and parties, explains Foundry Entertainment Complex co-owner, Gene Whaley. Be sure to bring dad or that special man in your life here for a day of fun, delicious food and a little healthy competition. Visit thefoundrysocial. com for more information and to request a reservation. Foundry Social is located at 333 Foundry Street, Medina, OH 44256.

THE PERFECT DAY WITH DAD (CONTINUED)

MAD BREWING COMPANY MAD Brewing Company, also located in the Foundry Entertainment Complex, is a brewery and taphouse that is determined to “Make A Difference.” The local craft brewery strives to make a difference by offering an incredible selection of craft brews not sold anywhere else. One thing that makes MAD especially unique is its monthly guest brewmaster program. When it begins, it will provide an arena for upcoming independent brewers to share their passion, while at the same time supplying patrons with a chance to try an ever-rotating tap of brews. Through the program, an independent brewer can showcase four of their beers on MAD’s taps. Whichever beer sells the best will end up staying on the taps for an additional three months. Since this program has not yet started, MAD has been doing “Tap Takeover,” where a local, independent brewer or company will take over five taps for a week and offer their favorites. This allows their guests to experience the hottest brews and breweries without traveling. MAD is also passionate about putting Northeast Ohio-brewed beers on its taps. Everything brewed by MAD is done in Northeast Ohio by Head MAD Brewer, Mark Carbin. Although they also feature brews from other areas of the country, when you look at the tap list you will quickly see that typically over half of the brewskies were made somewhere in Ohio! Since MAD is located in the same building as Foundry Social and High Voltage Karting, it’s a great spot to hang out before or after taking dad out for some fun and games. To see a current list of what’s on tap or to apply for their guest brewmaster program, visit TheFoundrySocial.com/ Eat-And-Drink/Mad-Brewing-Company/.

but what I’ve heard from my customers is that we’re more affordable and we’re a one-stop shop. We do it all. In one way, that’s what we take pride in. We go from design to installation.” As the owner, Misho is involved in most of the process from beginning to end, which helps him to oversee the quality of products going out of his shop. Misho has a huge appreciation for his crew and always makes sure they receive the credit they all deserve. He said that his customers often rave about what nice guys and true professionals he has working for him. For Misho, hearing that directly from his clients means the world to him. He cherishes what he has, who he has working for him and he makes sure that it does not go unrewarded. Misho and his crew pride themselves on having outstanding customer service and positive relationships with every client they work with. The crew has never had a customer that they have ended on bad terms with. “That is one thing that I firmly believe in. I don’t mess around with that. Even if it hurts me, I will not leave my customer unhappy,” Misho says genuinely.
