The Maylee Thomas Band LED BY THE FIRST HIPPIE FIRST LADY OF MCKINNEY

WHEN YOU FIRST MEET MAYLEE THOMAS FULLER, YOU WILL MORE THAN LIKELY RECEIVE A HUG. It is both what she does and who she is. “I want them to know my life’s purpose is to make people feel loved,” she says. You will rarely see anything but a smile on her face, and it is easy to feel the warmth of her heart—plus, she’s a great singer. Being the First Lady of McKinney seems to be important to Maylee only because of her pride in what her husband, George Fuller, has done and is doing for McKinney. She didn’t need the title to do great things; she has been doing that in the community for decades. One vehicle she uses to serve others is the Love Life Foundation, an organization Maylee and George started more than 25 years ago—long before George had any political aspirations. But let’s back up a few decades. Maylee was born in Houston but also lived in Florida, Oklahoma and California before returning to Texas in 1987. She started singing in church at an early age and at the age of 18, she ventured out into the music world, traveling with gospel singing groups. Once settled in Dallas, Maylee performed six nights a week with Robert Lee Kolb and the Local Heroes while also working a full-time job at Dallas’ now-defunct International Apparel Mart. Soon following, Maylee and several musician peers formed the band MTS Express. CONTINUED >
