LIFESTYLE LETTER

A Healthier 2026 Starts Now January arrives like a reset button: quiet, hopeful, and full of promise. After the swirl of the holidays, there’s a collective exhale across the Northshore, bringing with it new beginnings. This month’s Health & Wellness issue is built around that spirit of renewal. We begin with “Redefining Wellness for Northshore Families,” our feature on attorney Zara Zeringue, whose own life story is a masterclass in courage. From riding English Hunter Jumper horses as a child to bungee-jumping off an old train bridge, Zara has spent her life moving toward what others run from. That same steadiness is what she offers her clients, especially families navigating fear, conflict, or seismic life change. We continue the theme of restoration with “Have a Fresh New Year,” a collection of water infusions designed to hydrate, brighten, and energize your days. Sometimes, wellness is as easy as choosing a flavor combo that helps you feel like a fresh new start. Then we explore a different modality of healing in “Heal Thy Body, Heal Thy Soul,” the remarkable story of Faith Joubert and Daphne Frilot, who walked away from comfort and certainty to open the Northshore’s first bio-scalar energy center. Their work at Healthy Body Healthy Soul is already changing lives by helping veterans, stroke patients, athletes, and exhausted parents. This is a story of what happens when we trust our intuition, open ourselves to innovation, answer a calling, and seek wellness not only for the body, but also for the soul. And to help us usher in a season of renewal, we close this issue with a work written just sixteen years after Mandeville was founded. In 1850, Alfred, Lord Tennyson published Ring Out, Wild Bells, a poem whose rhythm moves like actual bells, with each stanza a clean strike urging us to ring out the old and ring in the new. Tennyson calls us beyond the annual ritual of resolutions and toward a far more meaningful task. Our hope is that this issue brings you a sense of hope and possibility, whether you’re seeking strength, rest, clarity, or simply a healthier rhythm for the year ahead. Wellness isn’t simply a destination; it’s a practice, and our community is blessed with people and places dedicated to helping us live life well. May 2026 be a year of courage, nourishment, health, and renewal! Warmly, REBECCA GEORGE & CHRISTIAN GEORGE, PUBLISHER & CO-PUBLISHER @MANDEVILLECITYLIFESTYLE

REDEFINING WELLNESS FOR NORTHSHORE FAMILIES To understand how Zara Zeringue practices law, imagine yourself in total freefall, then landing safely on your feet because of a cord tethered to your back. Zara knows that feeling. She once bungee-jumped 140 feet off of an old train bridge just to see what overcoming fear felt like. Fearlessness surfaced early in her life, well before she ever walked into a courtroom, as she rode English Hunter Jumper horses and swam in the murky waters of Louisiana bayous as a child. “Horses were my mental health before we even used that term,” she tells me. “When you connect with a massive, intuitive being, it frees you, challenges you, centers you.” Perhaps that explains the grounded centeredness you feel when you meet Zara. Calm under pressure, she guides clients with the sort of internal steel that’s been pressure-tested since childhood.

Zeringue & Associates Law Firm, which Zara founded, encompasses family law, successions, personal injury, and estate planning. Clients may arrive carrying a multitude of emotions, such as anger, fear, confusion, or grief. They’re exhausted, worn down by communication battles, and unsure of what comes next. Zara and her team meet them in the midst of their storms and offer practical tools such as instructing them to wait before firing off emotional texts or responding to provocative messages. “A lot of people don’t give themselves permission not to respond,” she explains. “Sometimes, the healthiest thing you can do is stop, breathe, and answer tomorrow.” That single shift becomes a new way of engaging that prioritizes long-term sustainability over short-term impulses and scorched-earth victory.

“I’m a big-picture person,” she says. “I start with the end in mind.” Her goal is simple: healthier families, healthier futures, healthier ecosystems for the children who rarely have a say in the conflict.

CLARITY IN THE STORM

Zara is particularly passionate about fairness for fathers, a subject she approaches with conviction and care. “Equal time or close to it should be the presumption, not the exception,” she says. “A good family lawyer has the best interest of the child at the center. Everything else flows from that.” Zara teaches her clients how to direct their energy towards resolutions. This makes the courtroom only part of her work. Since dealing with the court system can be a long and frustrating process, the real transformation happens long before anyone stands before a judge, when clients learn to communicate without hostility, respond without defensiveness, and parent from love rather than fear. In those moments, Zara becomes more than a lawyer. She becomes a steadfast guide through the journey.

Not one to glamorize conflict, she knows what it means to look fear in the face and choose clarity and committed strength over chaos. “You have to be courageous,” she explains. “Feel the fear and do it anyway. But do it with intention.” After founding her firm, Zara built a culture that reflects her own principles and attitudes—a team aligned and ready to serve. These days, when Zara isn’t practicing or teaching yoga, she gets her horsepower from a different sort of saddle: her 20-horsepower Royal Enfield Meteor 350 motorcycle. In a field where tension is constant and certainty is scarce, Zeringue & Associates Law Firm offers more than representation; they bring restoration, hope, and a return to center when everything spins off its axis. If you’re looking for a committed, reliable advocate to help you navigate life’s challenges, Zeringue & Associates Law Firm is exactly the presence you want in the room. THE RE VOLUTIONARY ENERGY S Y S T E M T H AT ’ S R E S T O R I N G H E A LT H AND WELLNES S THROUGHOUT THE NORTHSHORE When the Sibilla family walked into Healthy Body Healthy Soul with their son Anthony, a nonverbal child with autism and a seizure disorder, they carried the weary tenderness familiar to so many parents of neurodivergent children: the long nights, the constant vigilance, the quiet ache of uncertainty. Anthony rarely slept more than a couple of hours at a time and struggled to calm his body. His parents expected nothing more than a simple trial session inside the center’s Bio-Scalar Light System. Instead, something unexpected happened. Anthony relaxed. His gaze softened toward the shifting colors. And then, for the first time in years, he slept. Not for minutes, but nearly two full hours, peacefully curled in his father’s lap. For a family long denied simple rest, it felt like a miracle. CONTINUED >

AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

Nikola Tesla once said, “If you want to understand the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.” That century-old idea, once dismissed as esoteric, is now finding new life in unexpected corners of modern wellness. It changed the lives of Dr. Faith Joubert, a physician, and Daphne Frilot, whose intuition runs soul-deep. Together they walked away from stability and comfort to open the Northshore’s first bio-scalar energy center. Their story began during the pandemic, when they found themselves drawn to emerging frequency-based wellness technologies. “We realized we were being called to do this,” Daphne recalls. “We felt it in our bones.”

24

H EA LT H Y LIF E ST Y LE | H E ALT H + WE LLN E SS

They studied the science, vetted the technology, and visited centers across the country, interrogating every claim. Faith brought clinical rigor; Daphne brought discernment. The deeper they went, the more they believed this technology could help people. The calling came with long hours and financial risk, but they persisted, building an environment where science, faith, and compassion intersect.

THE LIGHT SYSTEM

The Light System is a finely calibrated field of organized energy. Clients describe the space as calming, like stepping into a room where every vibe is finally in tune.

In this environment, the body receives something it rarely finds in daily life: an energetic landscape free of static. Faith and Daphne call it “plugging in,” a way for the body to access what it needs to realign and reset. The center doesn’t treat or diagnose conditions; instead, it provides an atmosphere designed to support the body’s own capabilities. “We’re not healing anyone,” Faith says. “We’re giving people the energy their bodies need to heal themselves.” Each morning, Faith, Daphne, and their team gather inside the Light System and set the day’s intention, a ritual of gratitude, presence, and focus, creating a space where every person feels cared for and safe. “We’re heavily invested in our clients’ well-being,” Daphne says. “Not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.”

STORIES OF RENEWAL

Cindy credits the Light System with giving her the vitality to work nine-hour shifts in her seventies without pain or medication. “My health is excellent,” she says. “This room keeps me aligned.” Marissa brings her husband, a veteran, her teenage son, and two rescue dogs. Her Chihuahua, born with cerebellar hypoplasia, now walks more steadily. Her injured terrier runs again. Marissa herself looks so rejuvenated that friends ask if she’s had cosmetic procedures. “I haven’t,” she laughs. “It’s just the room. I don’t know how it works. I only know it does.” One retired RN recovering from a stroke describes waking from her first overnight session able to lift her leg and move her toes CONTINUED > JANUARY 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . for the first time since her paralysis, later regaining bladder function and easing decades-long pain. A college football kicker with a torn groin muscle returned to the field the day after a three-hour session, surprising even his coaches. Visitors meet Betty, Healthy Body Healthy Soul’s beloved CEO (“Chief Encouragement Officer”), a once-emaciated, partially paralyzed dog whom Faith and Daphne found on the roadside, brought into the energy room, and watched transform into a spirited eight-pound greeter and daily reminder of the unexpected ways renewal can unfold.

A NEW KIND OF HEALTH CLUB Daphne Frilot, Faith Joubert, and Betty, Photo by Abby Sands

HOW IT WORKS The Bio-Scalar Light System, featured at Healthy Body Healthy Soul, is an energy environment created through custom-installed screens generating coherent “scalar waves.” These waves form a unified field designed to support the body’s natural repair processes by helping raise cellular electrical charge, a key marker of wellness. Healthy cells typically register 70–90 millivolts, while stressed cells may fall far below that range. Spending time in a stable, high-coherence field may help the body reestablish its optimal energetic state, promoting relaxation, detoxification, improved mood, and deeper rest. During sessions, clients often meditate, nap, or simply unwind as the body does the work. While not a medical treatment, this technology offers a gentle, noninvasive environment for whole-body restoration.

“WE’RE NOT HE ALING ANYONE. WE’RE GIVING PEOPLE THE ENERGY THEIR BODIES NEED TO REMEMBER HOW TO REPA IR, RE S T ORE, A ND RISE.” 26

H EA LT H Y LIF E ST Y LE | H E ALT H + WE LLN E SS

Faith and Daphne call Healthy Body Healthy Soul “a different kind of health club—all gain, no pain.” Skeptics arrive carrying years of disappointment and leave with softened shoulders, clearer eyes, and a fresh sense of possibility. “That’s all we ask,” Faith adds. “Come with an open heart. Your body will take it from there.” If you feel your battery is running low, give Healthy Body Healthy Soul a try. You may discover, as countless others have— myself included—that wellness often begins with a single yes. To schedule a session, email info@healthy bodyhealthysoul-la.com, call 985-898-9445, or visit healthybodyhealthysoul-la.com. Ring Out, Wild Bells (1850) BY ALFRED, LORD TENNYSON

Bell tower, Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, est. 1908

Ring In the New A New Year’s Poem by Alfred, Lord Tennyson ARTICLE BY CHRISTIAN GEORGE, PHD PHOTOGRAPHY BY OUR LADY OF THE LAKE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH Sixteen years after Mandeville was founded in 1834, Alfred, Lord Tennyson published Ring Out, Wild Bells, a poem whose rhythm moves like real bells with each stanza a clear strike that encourages us to ring out the old and ring in the new. In these stanzas, Tennyson wasn’t interested in polite optimism or surface polish. He was chasing something deeper, nudging us beyond the annual ritual of New Year’s resolutions (which, if you’re anything like me, tend to be abandoned by Mardi Gras) and toward something more meaningful: an audit of character and community, a renovation of self and society. As we step into January, may this poem invite us into a thoughtful editing of ourselves, a proofreading of our attitudes, ambitions, and actions that give us a “larger heart,” a “kindlier hand,” and ultimately, one that leads us into the arms of “the Christ that is to be.” Remember, it’s never too late to begin again. New beginnings are always possible for those who can embrace what they cannot change in order to change what they cannot embrace. Happy New Year! Christian George, PhD

O UR TOWN | L I FE + C ULT U RE

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky, The flying cloud, the frosty light: The year is dying in the night; Ring out, wild bells, and let him die. Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true. Ring out the grief that saps the mind For those that here we see no more; Ring out the feud of rich and poor, Ring in redress to all mankind. Ring out a slowly dying cause, And ancient forms of party strife; Ring in the nobler modes of life, With sweeter manners, purer laws. Ring out the want, the care, the sin, The faithless coldness of the times; Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes But ring the fuller minstrel in. Ring out false pride in place and blood, The civic slander and the spite; Ring in the love of truth and right, Ring in the common love of good. Ring out old shapes of foul disease; Ring out the narrowing lust of gold; Ring out the thousand wars of old, Ring in the thousand years of peace. Ring in the valiant man and free, The larger heart, the kindlier hand; Ring out the darkness of the land, Ring in the Christ that is to be.
