Theresa Heile, The Best Friend of Seasons

Celebrates Two Years of Creating Meaningful Connections

On March 5, 2026, Theresa Heile celebrated her two-year anniversary as the Resident Experience Specialist at Seasons and if you ask the residents, she’s only just getting started.

While her official title may be Resident Experience Specialist , many residents affectionately call her something else: their “best friend ” Theresa plays a critical role in helping new residents transition into life at Seasons’ Assisted Living community Moving into senior living can be a major life change, often accompanied by uncertainty and the challenge of leaving familiar surroundings behind. Theresa’s mission is to make that transition feel less daunting and far more welcoming.

“I help residents acclimate to their next adventure in life,” Theresa explains. “It ’s about friendship and connection.”

From the moment a resident arrives, Theresa works to introduce them to others with similar interests, helping to build relationships and community After residents have settled in for a few weeks, she steps back slightly, but she remains a constant source of support whenever someone needs encouragement, companionship, or simply a listening ear

Before joining Seasons, Theresa spent much of her career in nonprofit work. Transitioning to a for-profit environment was initially challenging However, she quickly discovered that the need for compassion and guidance extends across every stage of life. “I realized that it isn’t only people facing financial hardship who need help adjusting,” she says. “Moving somewhere new without friends can be frightening My calling is to make people happy and help them find joy again.”

Over the past two years, Theresa has learned that the smallest moments often carry the greatest meaning One example is the monthly new resident lunch she hosts, where she gives away two door prizes One basket contains practical items like towels and lotions, another includes a picture frame for family photos and always a roll of toilet paper To her amusement, the toilet paper consistently becomes the most coveted prize

Some moments are larger celebrations. Last year, Theresa organized an unforgettable 105th birthday party for a resident who loved margaritas The celebration included a nacho and margarita bar both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and a steel drum band from Elder High School. Friends, family, and fellow residents gathered to dance and celebrate “It wasn’t just about the birthday,” Theresa recalls “It was a reminder that life is still full of joy ”

Perhaps the greatest lesson Theresa has learned is the importance of meeting people where they are. Whether that means encouraging someone to attend a social event or simply visiting them quietly in their room, her focus remains the same: honoring each resident’s comfort, history, and individuality.

After two years of friendship, compassion, and unforgettable moments, Theresa continues to prove that resident experience is about far more than activities it’s about connection, dignity, and helping people love life again

IN-HOME CARE BRINGING HEART, DIGNITY, AND PERSONALIZED SUPPORT TO FAMILIES

CARE THAT FEELS LIKE FAMILY

Some of life’s most important care happens at home, where comfort and identity are deeply connected. That belief led owner Emily Harris to open Homewatch CareGivers of Cincinnati, a Loveland-based franchise born from personal experience and a passion for serving others with compassion. The mission is simple yet powerful: to provide personalized in-home support that honors every person’s story while bringing reassurance to the families who love them.

That mission officially took shape on November 3, 2025, when Homewatch CareGivers of Cincinnati opened its doors in Loveland, offering not just services, but a philosophy centered on dignity, connection, and care that feels deeply personal.

At the center of the organization is Emily Harris, whose path into in-home care is as heartfelt as it is unexpected.

“I interviewed with five or six other home care companies before choosing Homewatch CareGivers of Cincinnati,” Emily recalls. “None of them felt right. They felt corporate. Transactional. When I met with Homewatch CareGivers, it felt different. It felt like family.”

That sense of belonging, combined with the organization’s forward-thinking technology and mission-driven culture, made the decision clear. But Emily’s connection to this work runs far deeper than a business opportunity.

About four years ago, Emily’s mother was diagnosed with vascular dementia while living alone in rural southern Indiana. The transition that followed — moving her mother into Emily’s home and then eventually to assisted living — was filled with emotional and logistical challenges familiar to many families navigating caregiving for the first time.

“Living together wasn’t easy,” Emily shares. “My mom didn’t want to leave her home or her independence. She wanted her own space.”

After finding a community where her mother thrived, a later move revealed a stark contrast in care. Within months, Emily knew the environment wasn’t meeting her mother’s needs. The experience, she realized, highlighted how caregiver culture and consistency shape quality of life.

Eventually, they found another community that felt like home. Emily’s sister, Carrie, also relocated to the same assisted living facility, sharing an apartment with their mother — a decision that reflected this family’s deep commitment to ensuring their mother felt supported and loved.

“My mom passed away in September 2025,” Emily reflects. “She was a caregiver at heart. Serving others was simply who she was.”

Just months later, her sister also passed away while Emily was in the midst of opening her business. The loss, coupled with her father’s Parkinson’s diagnosis, clarified her purpose in ways she never expected.

“Home care is not just about tasks,” Emily emphasizes. “It’s about dignity. It’s about family. It’s about doing it right, because I’ve seen what happens when it’s done well, and when it’s not.”

Founded more than 45 years ago, Homewatch CareGivers has built a reputation for compassionate, non-medical in-home care tailored to each individual. The Loveland location marks its first presence in the Cincinnati area — a milestone Emily believes was guided by more than coincidence.

“I’ve always loved the Loveland area,” she explains. “I looked at one space and knew that was it. It was a God thing … not just where we are in Loveland but our business in general. And how we have the honor of taking care of those who have served so many others.”

While many associate home care primarily with seniors, Emily’s organization serves individuals of all ages and circumstances. From veteran care and temporary recovery support following surgery to long-term assistance with daily activities, the goal remains consistent: helping clients maintain independence while easing the emotional load families often carry. The organization is also certified in dementia care.

For many families, the decision to seek help begins with a gradual shift — small moments that signal daily life is becoming more difficult to manage alone. Sometimes it’s subtle, missed medications, forgotten appointments, small behavioral changes. Other times, it follows an illness, injury, or new diagnosis that quickly reshapes daily life.

“It can feel heavy, emotional, and uncertain,” Emily acknowledges. “We step in not just to provide care but to provide reassurance and peace of mind. We walk alongside families during a vulnerable time.”

Each care plan is thoughtfully customized, reflecting the belief that no two individuals or families are alike.

Services include companion care, assistance with daily activities, personal hygiene support, transportation, respite care for family caregivers, and specialized support for chronic conditions.

“Our goal is to help individuals remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes for as long as possible, while giving families peace of mind.”

What sets Homewatch CareGivers apart, Emily believes, is the organization’s deeply relational approach to care.

“We take the time to learn as much as we can about the person we’re caring for — their history, routines, interests, what brings them joy,” she explains. “We want to truly know them, not just their diagnosis.”

That philosophy shapes both client relationships and hiring decisions. Emily is intentional about building a caregiving team rooted in compassion, integrity, and purpose.

“This isn’t just a job, and it’s certainly not an easy one,” she emphasizes. “Skills can be taught, but character, empathy, and commitment come from within.”

Clients are introduced to their caregiver before services begin, ensuring a comfortable match from day one.

Comprehensive assessments and follow-up reassessments allow care plans to evolve, while Emily’s personal accessibility reinforces the organization’s commitment to open communication.

“We believe feedback is a gift. Open communication and accessibility are very important to us.”

Though still new to the community at large, the organization has already seen meaningful impact. Emily recalls working with a family who sought support after feeling previous care options had fallen short.

“Throughout our time caring for their loved one, we heard the same sentiment multiple times: ‘We wish we would’ve had you from the beginning,’” Emily shares. “Families deserve peace of mind from day one.”

As Homewatch CareGivers of Cincinnati continues to grow, Emily hopes that sense of reassurance will extend throughout the region.

“We hope families feel a true sense of trust and confidence knowing their loved one is being cared for with dignity, compassion, and respect,” she says.

For those hesitant to reach out, Emily offers gentle encouragement rooted in empathy and understanding.

“There’s no risk in starting the conversation. Our in-home assessments are free and designed to understand your loved one’s unique needs.”

In a season of life often marked by uncertainty, Homewatch CareGivers of Cincinnati aims to be a steady presence, offering not just assistance, but connection, comfort, and care that feels like family.

IN-HOME CARE

SIGNS IT MAY BE TIME TO CONSIDER

It’s not always one big moment that signals a need for support. Often, it’s a collection of small changes. If you’re noticing any of the following, it may be time to explore in-home care options:

• Missed medications or appointments that were once routine

• Difficulty managing household tasks like cooking, cleaning, laundry, or paying bills

• Changes in personal hygiene or grooming habits

• Unexplained weight loss or an empty refrigerator and pantry

• Increased forgetfulness, confusion, or memory concerns

• Withdrawal from hobbies, social activities, or community involvement

• Recent falls, surgery, illness, or hospitalization requiring recovery support

• A new or progressing diagnosis, such as dementia or Parkinson’s disease

• Transportation challenges that limit independence or access to appointments

• Family caregiver stress or burnout, especially when balancing work and family responsibilities

Seeking support doesn’t mean giving up independence — it often helps preserve it. In-home care can provide safety, companionship, and peace of mind while allowing individuals to remain comfortable in the place they love most: home.

Wired For Success

Since 1953, Alamo Electronics has been the region’s go-to for high-end home entertainment accessories and high-tech advice. Now, they’re proud to offer a completely remodeled showroom to serve customers like never before.

The updated showroom includes a number of components. One, for example, spotlights outdoor-specific entertainment options.

Another showcases new conference room tech. Yet another demonstrates strategic lighting solutions, says Alamo’s Director of Service and Integration, Tim May. “We’ve also totally revamped our two theater rooms,” he adds. “People will notice a huge difference.”

For more than 70 years, Alamo has fine-tuned everything from black-and-white televisions to “smart” accessories and digital marvels. In addition to sales and installation, Alamo Electronics specialists are always standing by to offer troubleshooting, support, and customization to make home tech, like “smart home” connections, easy to implement.

“A ‘smart’ home can mean different things to different people,” Tim explains. “Generally, it can usually give you overall control of all the different amenities within your home. Some of these basic ones could be anything from motorized shades, thermostat control, lighting control, surveillance cameras, and working your audio and video from multiple rooms.”

Tim says that apps were a big step forward in adjusting these items around the house. And now, a touchscreen or a wall pad can be implemented for even more control and convenience.

The goal, Tim says, is to make technology even easier to navigate. And best of all, if you need help either implementing, setting up, streamlining, or connecting all your smart home components, Alamo can do that, too. And more.

“We don’t try to oversell,” explains Alamo Vice President Rick Senger. “We would rather design a tailored system that suits someone’s individual needs the best.”

Tim and Rick credit the company’s willingness to “change with the technology” as a major factor in the company’s longevity.

“We take a lot of pride in the fact that we’ve been in this area for so long,” Rick points out. “We’re always evolving, to stay current … but the community aspect is really important to us. The people we want to serve are our neighbors.”

NOS Is Turning Good Dental Health into Classroom Fun

When students at Loveland Primary School see a unicorn, monkey, or dinosaur puppet come into their classroom wearing braces or expanders, they know it’s going to be a fun day.

The puppets are part of a hands-on oral health presentation from Northeast Orthodontic Specialists, where Dr. Jacob Stadiem and his team visit second graders at local schools throughout the year to teach students about healthy smiles. At the heart of each presentation is NOS’s “7 & Up” campaign, which focuses on educating families about the importance of early orthodontic screenings and debunking the idea that children should only start seeing an orthodontist after all their baby teeth have fallen out.

“We’re working on educating both kids and parents that children should be screened by an orthodontist at the age of 7,” explains NOS Marketing Manager Laura Bennoitt. “By 7 years old, children have enough permanent teeth for an orthodontist to detect and potentially treat jaw or teeth alignment issues.”

Rather than presenting in a gymnasium, the NOS team rotates classroom by classroom, making it a more personalized experience. Each in-school session has a natural flow, discussing the importance of dental hygiene, ways NOS can help take care of kids’ teeth, and how important good hygiene is.

“We explain the difference between a dentist and an orthodontist, and talk about how we partner together to make their smiles healthy and happy,” Laura says. “We talk about expanders, usually at least one kid in the class either has one or knows someone who does. We talk about what a consultation consists of: X-rays, pictures of their teeth and smile, time with Dr. Stadiem.”

Props, like the puppets, help students see why braces or expanders may be needed, how they work, and show that visits can be friendly and comfortable.

Kids who don’t need early intervention can join NOS’s “Orange & Blue Crew,” visiting twice a year to monitor growth at no cost until treatment begins.

Every presentation ends with a Q&A session.

“That’s usually the most entertaining part — you never know what second graders will say,” Laura smiles.

Dr. Stadiem

Each student also receives a NOS swag bag that includes a dental hygiene kit, a color-changing cup, sunglasses, and a letter to caregivers explaining the school presentation.

While tackling smile health, the program enables NOS to give back to the long-term health of the communities they are personally connected to.

“We really want to invest in the communities we serve,” Dr. Stadiem says. “My family lives in Loveland, my wife works at Loveland City Schools, and my daughters will be future Tigers. I want for my community what I want for my own family — to be happy and healthy.”

Which underlines Dr. Stadiem’s commitment to continued learning and comprehensive care.

“I pride myself on continuing education to stay up to date on the most current techniques and technologies to better serve my patients.” Dr. Stadiem says. “I always say: I don’t treat teeth, I treat people. I like to take a comprehensive approach to treatment. This helps me set my patients up for success not just with a beautiful smile, but by improving their overall health.”

While many may recognize the NOS logo from local team jerseys or show choir programs, Dr. Stadiem says investing time inside classrooms is one of the most rewarding — and fun! — parts of the job.

By teaching children about oral health early and making education enjoyable and approachable, Northeast Orthodontic Specialists is doing more than creating straight smiles … they’re investing in healthier futures — one second-grade classroom at a time.

A New One-Stop Spa Embodying Everything Your Skin Deserves

GLOW WITH IT

Caring for yourself can take shape in a lot of different ways, but one surefire investment that promises to pay off tenfold is a trip to Embody Regenerative Aesthetics, a medical spa with a treatment menu that’s sure to have something just for you. Because taking care of your skin isn’t just a fleeting thing, it’s something worth investing in. Something that helps you feel healthy and radiant. Something that sets your skin up for success and keeps you glowing through the years. And it’s all at Embody Regenerative Aesthetics.

J. CAPPS

If you’re wondering who and what Embody Regenerative Aesthetics is, we have the full rundown. Owned by Heather Buckles, Embody is a newly reimagined medical spa that exists solely to cover all your beauty and body care needs — from skincare and waxing to lashes and brows. But what’s Embody really all about? “It’s the totality of a person … it’s treating more than just one wrinkle or blemish on your face. Instead, we look at the total health of someone’s skin to understand what is challenging that person in more of an all-encompassing way … rather than looking at one single piece of the puzzle,” Heather says. While they do offer options like botox that aim to solve one part of a specific problem, Embody’s staff is trained to treat everything about your skin.

It all starts with a consultation to understand exactly what you need, but more important, what you want. “Just because I look at somebody’s skin and think ‘oh, they might need XYZ’ doesn’t mean that’s what they look in the mirror and see,” explains Heather. “What they want … that’s the only thing that is important. It’s what they see and what they want to change that’s key, and so we help them create a plan to make that happen.”

With the help of the all-star staff at Embody Regenerative Aesthetics, now bigger and better than before, it’s easy to create a plan of attack to target problem areas. Whether that’s something as simple as a specialty facial, or as in-depth as a laser treatment, it’s all up to you. More to the point, Embody has it all, including advice and ideas for most skin issues or concerns. “Some people think if they come in and get botox, that’s going to fix everything … but it doesn’t, not alone. Botox is wonderful, but you have to have healthy skin to begin with for it all to really work together,” Heather says of their treatments. So while the botox is important in its own right, it’s important to remember that overall care of your skin is just as much a key player in having healthy skin as those botox injections are.

And that’s what Embody is here for — to promote health in full, not just small bits and pieces. And their recent expansion into their new Harper’s Point location is helping them do that. “Our patients are really a reflection of what needs to happen next, and if I’m in tune with that, then that tells me what the next steps are,” Heather says of adding more staff and moving into a bigger retail space. So when her growing clientele showed interest in more medical options, it made sense for her spa to grow with them. “We’ve brought in a lot more educators,” explains Heather of this new phase and direction.

CONTINUED >

“The name of the business is Embody — which is the totality of a person. It’s treating not just one wrinkle or blemish, but looking at the total health of your skin.”

Not only is she bringing in people who can educate her clientele, but people who can educate her staff, too. “As you bring on new services and expand your offerings, there’s a level of doing your due diligence and seriousness that comes with these more intricate and aggressive procedures.” It just made sense to have the best-trained staff who would do their best to inform their clients about what was right for them. “If you’re not supporting your staff so that they feel confident and educated on how to do the procedures, that would be a big mistake. So we have educators all the time. Trainers who create excitement with everyone here.”

And all of this comes back to investing in yourself by caring for your largest organ — your skin.

“I know that our patients are focused on their skin health, so I feel like it’s my responsibility to continue to expand and broaden our horizons,” Heather states. “You have to be able to provide.”

And just like you’re investing in your skin, Heather is investing in her company to help you do more.

“We offer amazing medical skincare, and all of my team members are fully educated on the products we use and offer. We’re going to educate

our patients, too ... we’re going to make sure we understand what they need and want, and that will help them invest in themselves.”

At the end of the day, Embody Regenerative Aesthetics is here to help you feel and look your best. “The regenerative piece is really a driving force. We’re more focused on regenerative skincare, longevity, peace. I really think that’s the way of the future for skincare. So we’re offering things like peptides and salmon DNA Facials. We’re doing the IV clinic. We’re focusing on more of that total health of each person,” Heather explains. So whether you want to get a facial to help with moisture, or meet with their medical team to discuss the options of laser sculpting for your skin, Embody is the place for you.

At the end of the day, Embody Regenerative Aesthetics has something for everyone, covering options like weight loss injections, waxing, microneedling, and more. Check out their full menu on their new website, and set up your appointment today to invest in the future of your skin.

New and Notable

Want to know the latest options that the team at Embody Regenerative Aesthetics is most excited about? Consider this. “The reason our team is so excited about all of our new treatments is because all of them are perfect for every patient … we’re able to customize each treatment with varying levels of aggressiveness, and target each patient’s individual concerns such as acne, discoloration, texture, fine lines, and wrinkles,” Heather explains. These treatments include:

BBl Laser & Halo Laser Treatment are ablative and non-ablative lasers that help treat deep pigmentation, melasma, scarring, pore size, tone, and texture. This can eliminate years of damage and restores youthful skin.

Salmon DNA (PDRN) Microneedling Facial is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that combines traditional microneedling with nutrient-rich salmon DNA, which triggers collagen production and accelerates cellular turnover, significantly enhancing skin texture, hydration, and firmness.

BENTON DELIVERS ARTFULLY CRAFTED BENTO BOXES WITH A LOCAL TWIST
ARTICLE BY ELIZABETH A. LOWRY | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

One of the perks of traditional Japanese bento is that it’s great for eating on-the-go. One of the drawbacks is that, unfortunately, not everyone can create these delicious, single-portion meals.

Luckily for us, we have easy access to both thanks to Loveland’s own BentOn, owned and operated by Toru Furukawa, a third-generation Japanese bento maker who skillfully prepares each bento-style meal.

“A bento is Japanese food in one box — carefully balanced, visually beautiful, fun to open, easy to carry,” Toru says. “In Japan, bento is widely known as a convenient, healthy, and joyful way to eat, and BentOn’s mission is to bring that culture to the U.S.”

THE ZEN OF BENTON

BentOn’s meal service plan offers boxes in the Washoku style, meaning the cuisine is traditionally Japanese. “Washoku is not only about taste — it’s about culture, family, beauty, and the way people gather around the table in Japan,” Toru explains. “It focuses on fresh ingredients, simple cooking methods, and natural flavors. A typical Washoku meal includes rice, soup, vegetables, and fish or meat, all arranged in harmony.”

At its core, the concept is you can eat bento every day without getting bored. To that end, BentOn offers more than 200 menu items, in dishes ranging from popular classics like salmon, chicken teriyaki, and karaage (Japanese fried chicken) plus Korean and Chinese fusion styles as well as ramen, yakisoba, simmered vegetables, and side dishes.

The BentOn website features three ways to order — a First Order, where you can try bento and see if it’s for you; an On Demand kit where you can stock up on your favorite meals; and an Omakase Kit, which is subscription-based and delivered every two to three weeks.

CONTINUED >

BentOn delivers their BPA-free vacuum-sealed meals nationwide. Items are delivered refrigerated and stay fresh in the fridge for up to seven days or in the freezer for up to six months. Kits can be heated in 10 minutes, either in a hot water bath or in the microwave.

BENTON BRINGS SHIPPING HUB TO LOVELAND

BentOn, which opened in the states nearly 20 years ago at their flagship location in New York, has now grown to four locations: two in New York, one in Tokyo, and one here in Loveland.

Why Loveland, you ask? Well, like many businesses during the early 2020s, the pandemic forced BentOn to change their business model. While the focus was on serving bento to corporate New York offices, when those offices closed during Covid, they were forced to pivot from office bento to Japanese meal kits that could be enjoyed at home. This included finding a new location for their shipping hub.

headquarters, thanks to its logistical location offering geographic balance, lower shipping costs, and faster nationwide access than New York.

BENTON EXPANDS TO LOCAL PICKUP

In the very near future, Furukawa says BentOn’s local pickup program will expand to make their delicious bento boxes available at a lower price and more accessible to area families after online ordering.

“Bento is not just a lunch — it’s culture, creativity, and possibility. We are proud to be in Loveland, and we want to grow together with this community.”
— Toru Furukawa

Toru says one of the things that drew him to this part of Ohio was the name. “‘Loveland’ sounded warm, friendly, and positive,” he smiles. “It felt like a good place to start a new chapter.”

And so, the former Tano catering facility on Loveland-Madeira Road became BentOn’s new

BentOn also plans on expanding their catering services, from employee cafeterias at companies like P&G and Fidelity to smaller, local events like birthday parties, office lunches, and private chef services. “While the foundation is the same, we will continue to adapt and create ideas that fit our local lifestyle here,” Toru says.  Also coming up?

BentOn’s 20th anniversary on July 1, with plans in the works to celebrate with the community as a way to thank everyone who has supported BentOn over the years.

“Whether you’re American or Japanese, young or old, bento is not just a menu — it’s a style, a way of eating. Balanced, portable, beautiful, flexible.”

THE NEXT CHAPTER

IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO BUILD A NEST

The final bell has echoed, the hallway hum has softened, and the school day at Loveland Elementary has come to a close. But for some students, another chapter is beginning. Backpacks drop and doors swing open. One student grabs a snack while another moves to decompress with LEGO blocks before tutoring begins. Teachers mingle with volunteers, proudly sharing what students accomplished that day, or sneaking in practice problems to help a lesson click.

This is the moment school ends and NEST begins.

NEST Community Learning Center — the beloved local nonprofit dedicated to providing at-risk students with Nutrition, Education, and Safety to Transform their futures — has undergone a transformation of its own. Celebrating its 10th year, NEST stands on a remarkable foundation built by Evangeline DeVol.

“We’re looking to cast the net deep,” explains Executive Director Laurie Reagan. “Creating an experience where every child feels encouraged, connected, and empowered to succeed.”

NEST has found a new home in Loveland Elementary’s Media Center, reinvigorating ties with Loveland Schools, but the program continues to be committed to providing more than tutoring. Volunteers, from Board President Jeff Bass to NEST Clubs at both Loveland High School and CHCA, are establishing foundational one-on-one relationships.

“It just makes sense that it’s all taking place in one of our buildings, where kids already know they’re loved and supported,” says Loveland Superintendent Mike Broadwater, who didn’t hesitate when NEST approached him with ideas to further integrate.

“He said ‘we’ll find a place for you here,’” Laurie recalls, a simple but anchoring act of partnership.

While NEST’s earliest learners, ages 3 through kindergarten, are nurtured through the nonprofit’s signature mobile bus experience, this on-site central hub for students in grades 1-4 (and next year 5!) has brought a powerful impact. Not only are lessons and tutoring closely synced, but students receive extended mental and emotional support beyond the classroom, from celebrating success to offering a reprieve after a tough day.

But these kids have many spokes on the wheel of support.

Our community remains rallied around NEST and its students, with local churches, organizations, and an army of volunteers stepping in, including a pivotal partnership with LIFE Food Pantry. Located just across the street, LIFE keeps bellies full and spirits high by providing nutritious, kid-approved hot meals and snack bags to take home. Partnerships like this have freed up some of NEST’s resources, allowing the organization to dream bigger.

That includes extending the program into the summer and bringing new experiences to the kids. A visit from the zoo, a pool day, and a trip to the Loveland Castle are all reminders that the world is bigger than they may realize, and more important, full of people rooting for them. With that kind of support behind them, the sky’s the limit … and these kids are ready to take flight.

For those wondering how to get involved, board member Ashley Cunningham reminds us that it doesn’t take a lot to drive meaningful change in our community. “So many people want to do good, but don’t realize what exists in their own backyard,” Ashley offers.

“It only takes one. One volunteer, one donation, one friend. Not the sun and moon. Just one.”

own the room

If you’ve been in your home for a while, you’re probably ready for a refresh. Or, perhaps you have a lingering trouble spot where “there’s just something missing.” Maybe you just want a few fresh ideas to welcome in spring.

Local expert interior designer Julia Bender to the rescue! We captured Julia’s top tips for instantly elevating a variety of rooms — without breaking your budget.

Easy Space Updaters

A Whole New Light

Different levels of lighting — layered lighting including both decorative and functional sources — can really change the way you see the room.

Windows of Opportunity

Your home likely has several! Adding a thoughtfully chosen, designer-inspired window treatment softens the window structure, creates visual warmth and comfort, and adds a focal point to the room.

Crowning Touch

Well worth the little extra effort, adding architectural details like crown molding, chair rail, or wainscoting can quickly transform a space from everyday to elevated.

“Jewelry for the Outfit”

AKA, accessories and artwork. “Many people miss this step, but adding either meaningful pieces of art (think family photos) or accessorizing with plants or other decorative items will make your home feel more finished and comfortable.”

Quick Brush-Up

“Adding a splash of color, texture, or pattern using paint or wallpaper instantly makes a huge difference.” Paint for walls, cabinets, and furniture; wallpaper behind bookshelves or even as a fun touch in the laundry room.

Pillow Talk

“You’d be amazed how important pillows are! They can add a pop of color or texture, and be switched out easily throughout the year. Pillows are tiny but pack a big punch!”

FOUR SIMPLE WAYS TO INVEST IN YOUR MORNING AND START YOUR DAY OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT

habits morning for success

One of the best ways to invest in yourself is by creating a consistent and intentional morning routine. No matter how unpredictable or chaotic the rest of your day may become, starting your morning with self-care and purpose sets a positive tone that stays with you throughout the day.  Once you develop a morning routine that truly resonates with you, you’ll look forward to it every night, knowing it will set the foundation for a productive and fulfilling day.

If you’re ready to elevate your mornings, here are some meaningful ways to invest in your routine and start each day on the right foot.

Be Your Own Barista:

One of life’s simplest pleasures is savoring a homemade coffee each morning. While skipping the drivethru may be tough at first, brewing your own allows you to appreciate the process—and chances are, you’ll end up preferring your own perfect cup of joe.

Get Your Steps In:

An hour-long gym session before work may not be realistic, but a quick morning walk is. Use this time to clear your mind, enjoy nature, and listen to your favorite podcast or artist—an easy way to start your day feeling relaxed.

Enjoy Some Breakfast:

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, yet often the most overlooked. Setting your alarm just minutes earlier to prepare a fresh, nutritious meal can transform your morning, fueling your body and mind for a more energized and productive day.

Read A Book:

Starting your day with a book is far more calming than scrolling through social media. Reading in the morning helps ease you into the day, providing a peaceful and mindful escape that sets a positive, focused tone for what’s ahead.

Redefining MVP: TIM TEBOW’S LIFE BEYOND FOOTBALL

An exclusive Q&A with City Lifestyle

PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

From championship trophies to global humanitarian impact, Tim Tebow’s journey has defied every standard playbook. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Tebow pulls back the curtain on the moments that truly defined him, from a humbling middle school church retreat to the life-altering shift of fatherhood. This isn’t just a look back at a career; it’s an invitation into the heart of a man driven by purpose. Read the highlights below, then join us for the full, unfiltered experience by scanning the QR code at the end.

Q: WE ALL KNOW YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, BUT TELL US ABOUT THE CURL CONTEST.

A: I was competing for my future high school team (my brother’s team), and I pushed myself way past what was smart. I ended up collapsing and needing medical attention. But what stayed with me wasn’t the pain, it was the lesson. Would I be willing to do something that others aren’t? For much of my life, I strived to bring my best for a game, but I hope that I can say at the end of my life I was willing to do that for things that actually matter.

Q: YOU’VE ACHIEVED SO MUCH IN SPORTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT NOW?

A: Becoming a dad. Nothing compares. From the moment I knew my wife was pregnant, I felt a new depth of love for our child, but when you bring your baby home, the responsibility hits you like nothing else. Suddenly, everything you see, every decision you make, you’re asking, “Is this corner too sharp? What happens if she reaches that drawer?” It changes how you see the world and how you see other people.

Q: YOU’VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOTBALL. HOW DID THAT SEASON OF LIFE SHAPE YOU?

A: I talked a lot about that very thing in my book Shaken . We all go through moments where our faith in our abilities and purpose feels rattled, but I believe it’s often in those storms when God can show us who we could become.

Q: YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT COMPARISON CULTURE. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE COMPARISON HAS BECOME SUCH A TRAP TODAY?

A: Because we’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. Social media shows people’s “best day,” often filtered and staged, and then we measure our reality against that. There’s a reason filters are so popular—it’s not real. We end up scrolling through images that don’t tell the full story, and without realizing it, comparison starts to steal our joy and our gratitude.

“We’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel... comparison starts to steal our joy.”

Q: YOUR FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON THE “MOST VULNERABLE.” WHERE DID THAT CALLING BEGIN?

A: When I was 15, I met a boy in the Philippines who was treated as a throwaway because he was born with physical differences. That moment changed me. I realized God was calling me to pursue a different kind of MVP, not “Most Valuable Player,” but “Most Vulnerable People.”

Q: FINALLY, WHAT’S ONE THING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?

A: I have some weird coffee habits, which include protein powder, collagen, and cream all mixed together. I love golf dates with my wife. And every night, I bring snacks to bed to share with our dogs. It brings me more joy than it probably should.

This conversation barely scratches the surface. Tim goes deeper into the moments that rattled him, the joys of fatherhood, and one story he has never shared publicly until now. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on Share the Lifestyle Podcast.
