A Celebration of Style

September 2026 PUBLISHER

Anna Yanosick | anna.yanosick@citylifestyle.com

Happy September, friends! Welcome to the Style issue, where we celebrate the creativity, confidence and craftsmanship that inspire us daily. Style is much more than a trend. It’s a reflection of who we are, found in what we wear, the spaces that surround us, the art we admire and the way we live each day. In this issue, you’ll meet talented individuals whose stories remind us that style is, above all else, self-expression. Thank you to acclaimed Arkansas artist Lisa Krannichfeld, whose stunning piece Arise is featured on our cover. Inspired by vintage style, Arise is a striking work, “merging the powerful and the feminine.” Inside, Lisa shares the inspiration behind the piece and the meaningful symbolism woven throughout her work. From inspired homes to timeless interiors, we’re excited to share the many ways style shapes our spaces. Tour a remarkable custom home built by Dumont Construction, where thoughtful craftsmanship and collaboration shape every detail. Learn interior designer Kathryn LeMaster’s favorite ways to bring a space to life with plants, and get a bit of lake house inspo from AC Designs. Beyond our living spaces, we’re also examining personal style and those who inspire us. We’re honored to feature three remarkable local women who embody style and grace in their own unique ways: Bethany Morgio of Round Up Vintage, Caroline Otwell of The Southern Signature and Laura Stanley of Laura Stanley Personal Jeweler. Of course, no Style issue would be complete without fashion. And we are thrilled to feature Blume & Hall Fashion Academy, which is cultivating the next generation of Arkansas designers and keeping the art of fashion design thriving close to home. Finally, because true style is reflected not only in what we create but in how we care for each other, we’re spotlighting the extraordinary generosity of Lee Moore and his team at Christian Brothers Automotive West Little Rock. Their gift of a reliable vehicle is a beautiful reminder that compassion never goes out of style. So, whether you’re refreshing your wardrobe, reimagining your home or simply seeking some inspiration, I hope this issue encourages you to embrace your own unique style with confidence. Because, friends, we think you’re fabulous! STEPHANIE HASBROUCK, PUBLISHER @ L I T T L E R O C KC I T Y L I F E S T Y L E

Through Collaboration and Craftsmanship, Dumont Construction Creates Homes that Reflect Every Homeowner’s Vision

Picture this: a stone path winding up to a rustic yet stylish house sitting above the shimmering waters of Greers Ferry Lake. Its dark, polished exterior boasts exposed wood beams, a sprawling balcony and a screened porch. This Heber Springs home’s seamless blend of form and function reflects the power of collaboration. Working closely with homeowners, architects and designers, Brian Dumont and Larry Evans of Dumont Construction transform ideas into homes that are as livable as they are beautiful. “Every project starts as an idea — a conversation about how a family wants to live, entertain and enjoy their home,” Brian says. “Watching that vision develop from the first sketches and selections into a finished home that the family loves is incredibly fulfilling.” The groundwork for Dumont Construction was laid in 2016. Brian, who was already active in construction, was ready for a new endeavor. So, he teamed up with his father-in-law Larry, who had just retired from a 30-year career with AT&T. Pooling their strengths, they developed a business to build original houses that feel like private sanctuaries. CONTINUED >

Brian holds a degree in construction management and oversees the building process and all client communication. Larry brings decades of project management experience to direct company operations. They approach every project with the same level of care, whether it’s a luxury custom home, a full-scale remodel or commercial construction. The home in Heber Springs is just one example of how Dumont Construction can balance beauty and practicality in a diverse landscape. “The design takes full advantage of the lake setting, with a focus on maximizing views, natural light and the connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces,” Brian says. Interior designer Amy Wheeler fondly reflects on collaborating with Dumont Construction for the Heber Springs project. “They have a strong, reliable team of subcontractors, and their attention to detail is exceptional,” Amy says. “Overall, the process is smooth, and they genuinely collaborate to bring the vision to life.” One of her favorite spaces is the primary bedroom. At first glance, someone may think they’ve stumbled upon a cabin retreat. A dramatic, hazy photograph of bison grazing in Yellowstone National Park rests above the bed, set against the warm urban bronze walls. Large sliding glass doors open to a private balcony, bridging the cozy interior to a dazzling view of the dense forest. “Dumont has excellent craftsmanship and is not afraid to do something different to really stretch themselves,” Amy says. “That can be hard to find in this industry, and it really shows in this beautiful lake house.” Building someone’s home is deeply personal, which means Larry and Brian first forge a bond with the client to get a complete picture of who they are and what they want. Once plans are finalized, Larry and Brian meet with the homeowner and design team to review the blueprints, necessary materials and any potential hurdles. “For Dumont Construction, the relationships built throughout the process are just as rewarding as the finished product,” Larry says. “Working closely with homeowners, architects and designers creates a true partnership, and many clients become lasting relationships long after the project is complete.” Behind every completed custom home is a unique chain of choices and conversations. Although every project for Dumont Construction is vastly different, each brings immense amounts of joy to everyone involved. For more information, visit dumontconstruction.com.

BLUME & HALL

Arkansas’ Only Fashion Academy Prepares Future Designers through Expert Mentorship, Hands-On Training and Real-World Experience ARTICLE BY ANNA YANOSICK | PHOTOGRAPHY BY KATIE ADKINS PHOTOGRAPHY

16

FASH ION F OR WA R D | EDU CAT ION

For those who can feel a piece of fabric, picture an entire design and predict how the textures and colors will work together on the runway, there’s a school for you. Blume & Hall Fashion Academy shows students how to stitch their keen eye for style into a successful fashion career.

“If you’re passionate about fashion, if you’re willing to work hard, there’s a place for you here.” In 2007, the late designer Jamileh Kamran opened the Arkansas Fashion School, the first and only of its kind. Nearly two decades later, the institution has reopened under a new name and the leadership of model Lara Blume McGee, designer Ashton Hall and instructor Amanda Morley. “Local talent needed a place to learn real, industry-connected fashion without leaving home,” says Lara, who has modeled in Miami, Los Angeles, New York and London. “We wanted to keep Kamran’s hands‑on, mentor-first teaching alive.” Aspiring designers can take a two-year, 15-course program covering sewing, pattern making, draping and garment construction. They begin with foundational projects like skirts and tailored jackets before advancing to evening and bridal wear. In November, students will debut their collections during “Paint the Runway,” a scholarship fashion show that also celebrates the academy’s graduates.

One of the mentors, Ashton, lends experience from his time at Michael Kors, Victoria’s Secret Direct and Gentleman Farmer in Paris. He encourages students to stay true to themselves in an industry known for fierce competition. “I tell these students, ‘You can do anything. This is just your stepping stone to get the technical.’ So my job is to align them to their passion, create opportunities, call my resources and put them in places to live out their dream.” In the future, the school foresees more scholarships, more internships, more dreams sewn. “If you’re passionate about fashion, if you’re willing to work hard, there’s a place for you here,” Ashton says. “We’re just getting started.” For more information, visit blumeandhallfashionacademy.com.

DESIGNER KATHRYN J. LEMASTER SHARES HOW PLANTS ADD BEAUTY, WARMTH AND STYLE TO ANY SPACE

18

EXP E RT H E LP | HO M E + D E SIGN

“I’ve always believed that life attracts life — that we instinctively respond to living things.” WHY DO YOU BELIEVE PLANTS ARE AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF GREAT INTERIOR DESIGN? At its core, interior design isn’t just about making a space beautiful — it’s about creating environments that genuinely support the people who live in them. Yes, aesthetics matter, but beautiful spaces should also function well, reduce stress, encourage connection and improve our daily lives. I’ve always believed that life attracts life — that we instinctively respond to living things. Even on a subconscious level, we notice when a space feels vibrant and alive versus when it feels cold, static or disconnected. Plants are one of the simplest and most beautiful ways to bring that sense of life indoors. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE WAYS TO INCORPORATE PLANTS INTO A SPACE? Plants are one of my favorite accessories to style with ... I love using them as centerpieces on dining tables and coffee tables, an accent on a kitchen islands or counter, perched in a windowsill, anchored in a corner — they are the cherry on top in so many applications! WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOW-MAINTENANCE, HIGH-IMPACT HOUSEPLANT? If someone tells me they ‘can’t keep plants alive,’ I always recommend starting with a pothos.

They’re incredibly forgiving, adapt well to a variety of lighting conditions, and they’re great communicators! If they’re thirsty, they’ll let you know by drooping a bit, and after a good watering, they’ll perk right back up. Plus, their trailing vines add instant softness and beauty to a room. BEYOND THE PLANT ITSELF, HOW IMPORTANT ARE PLANTERS AND CONTAINERS IN THE OVERALL DESIGN? WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE LOOK FOR? I like to think of the plant as the gift and the planter is the wrapping! While the greenery is always the star, the planter completes the composition and helps tell the design story. First, I always think about function before aesthetics. Make sure the planter is appropriately sized for the plant and has proper drainage, either through a drainage hole or by using it as a decorative cachepot with the plant left in its original nursery pot. I actually prefer the second option because it makes watering easier, allows the plant to drain properly and gives you the flexibility to swap decorative planters as your plant grows or your style evolves. From a design perspective, I treat planters the same way I would any accessory. I’m considering scale, texture, color and material in relation to everything else in the room. A planter shouldn’t compete with or distract from the plant but should complement it. For more design inspiration, visit kathrynjlemaster.com and follow @kjlartanddesign on Instagram.

YOUR NEW WEBSITE HAS MADE IT EASIER THAN EVER FOR CUSTOMERS TO SHOP YOUR CURATED COLLECTION. HOW HAS EXPANDING ONLINE CHANGED THE WAY YOU SHARE ROUND UP VINTAGE WITH SHOPPERS BOTH NEAR AND FAR? Utilizing e-commerce is so important now to broaden your client base and reach those collectors and lovers of vintage all over. With my extensive background in luxury retail, it also offers a simple way for my clientele over the years to shop from afar at their leisure! We are selective with the pieces we offer online, because a lot of time goes into photographing, measuring and describing each piece. So we are focusing on the most special and rare pieces to begin with.

VINTAGE PIECES OFTEN HAVE A STORY BEFORE THEY EVER REACH YOUR SHOP. WHAT DRAWS YOU TO A PIECE, AND HOW DO YOU KNOW IT BELONGS IN THE ROUND UP VINTAGE COLLECTION? I truly source based on my gut, and what I can see styled in multiple ways, for multiple aesthetics. Interestingly enough, I had a talk with myself recently because I felt like I was falling prey to trends. And in vintage, those trends change at such an accelerated pace ... That is not me. I want to find timeless things that are anti-trend. Someone comes in and sees a band t-shirt that was the first concert they ever went to. They find the most perfect pair of lived-in vintage denim. Something that they could have had forever makes it an easy addition to their current wardrobe. CONTINUED >

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE THE SOUTHERN SIGNATURE, AND WHAT KEEPS YOU INSPIRED TODAY?

Photos by Sarah Bussey Photography

My mom is truly the reason The Southern Signature exists. She started the business more than 25 years ago as a creative side passion, and in 2021 I had the opportunity to carry on what she built and make it my own. Growing up, I watched her create beautiful, personalized pieces that became part of people’s celebrations, and I quickly fell in love with that creative process. I have always believed it is the little details that people remember. I feel incredibly lucky that creativity is something I get to enjoy every day, both professionally as Vice President of Marketing & Brand Strategy for RPM Group and through my fun side venture, The Southern Signature. Both roles allow me to tell stories, create meaningful experiences and bring ideas to life in different ways. I love taking something as simple as a casual dinner, girls’ weekend or gameday gathering and turning it into an experience. Custom cups, cocktail napkins, matches, stir sticks and other thoughtful details can completely elevate the look and feel of an event and make it feel intentional. More than anything, I love that I get to be part of so many different chapters in people’s lives.

YOUR DESIGNS HAVE BECOME PART OF MANY CELEBRATIONS. WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT HELPING PEOPLE ADD A PERSONAL TOUCH TO LIFE’S BIGGEST, AND SMALLEST, MOMENTS? I truly believe every occasion deserves to feel special, not just weddings or milestone birthdays. Some of my favorite orders are for backyard dinners, girls’ trips, tailgates, holiday gatherings or simply a fun night with friends. Those everyday moments are often the ones we remember the most.

Laura Stanley Owner of Laura Stanley Personal Jeweler laura.diamonds

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SETS YOU APART IS YOUR ABILITY TO CREATE OR CUSTOMIZE JEWELRY TO FIT EACH CLIENT’S PERSONAL STYLE. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT THAT CREATIVE PROCESS? I love getting to know a client and honing in on their style, needs and requirements for a piece of fine jewelry. Sometimes it’s a lengthy process and sometimes it’s a quick meeting and we nail it instantly. In both instances, I love learning what works for them and what will make a piece of jewelry that exceeds expectations. And thinking about the next piece, too.

GREAT STYLE IS TIMELESS. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT MAKES A PIECE OF JEWELRY TIMELESS? Everyone has their own style and vibe, thank goodness! Any piece of jewelry can be timeless if the wearer comes back to it over and over. For me, it is my bangle bracelets, which I have collected for 30 years; but also I never leave the house without earrings. For you, it could be a special pendant or ring made from sentimental jewelry. Or a new ring made with that beautiful sapphire you always have wanted. Timeless is about the style and type of jewelry that works for you, whether it is diamonds, color gems or a bold gold piece. I tell everyone, wear what you love. We all have an innate feeling for what works on us, and with a little guidance, we can turn anything into our timeless piece.

LAKE STYLE THAT’S effortless & enduring A Carefully Restored Retreat Blends Natural Beauty with Comfort and Charm ARTICLE BY ANNA YANOSICK PHOTOGRAPHY BY SARAH BUSSEY PHOTOGRAPHY

Layered, natural and relaxed. These are the three words Amy Terry of AC Designs uses to describe her latest lake house remodel in Hot Springs. When an unexpected leak caused extensive damage to the lower level, it opened an opportunity to revive the home’s style while staying loyal to what made it special in the first place. “We’re most proud of how we were able to take an already beautiful home and thoughtfully bring it back to life,” Amy says. Alongside the original builders, Schrader Homes, Amy and her team refreshed the interior with new furnishings, updated cabinetry, wallpaper, mirrors and layered decorative accents. “The home is a stunning example of thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship, with beautiful details and intentional elements throughout every space.” To honor the house’s beloved lake backdrop, the designers used organic elements, pairing grasscloth wallpaper and ceramic mosaic tiles with warm wood finishes and linen bedding. Shades of creamy brown and beige mixed with a touch of classic blue deepen the elegance of the living room, which features floor–to-ceiling windows and a long, wooden dining table surrounded by woven chairs. Among all the revamped spaces, the bunk room gets the biggest reaction. Every wall except one is coated in a deep blue, enhancing its relaxed atmosphere. Soft ambient light glows from under the upholstered headboards, where white plaid wallpaper pops out behind the four bunk beds. “It was definitely the most dramatic transformation in the home, and everyone seems to love how cute and inviting it feels,” she says.

26

H OM E U P DAT E | HO M E + D E SIGN

Instead of reimagining the home’s entire aesthetic, the team focused on rekindling its natural charm. “Through wallpaper, pillows, bedding, accessories and other finishing touches, we were able to restore the home they loved and make it feel even more beautiful and complete,” Amy says.

DRIVEN by Generosity Christian Brothers Automotive West Little Rock Proves that Giving Back Is Always in Style ARTICLE BY STEPHANIE HASBROUCK PHOTOGRAPHY BY MERRICK MULTIMEDIA

Tia Dunlap had been searching for a reliable vehicle for months. Her parents, who had been helping her with transportation, put her name on their Bible study prayer list, and just like that … their prayers were answered. One of the Bible study members connected the family with Lee Moore, owner of Christian Brother Automotive West Little Rock. Lee had been planning to give away a vehicle to a deserving member of the community. “It was God’s timing,” says Tia’s father, Edward. “I thought it was a joke at first. I was so surprised,” Tia says, adding that she was beyond grateful. This is one of three vehicles Lee and his team have donated to a community member. Lee says he believes it’s simply what his business is called to do. “Giving back is at the heart of who we are. God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others. Every donation we make reflects our core mission. As Matthew 22:39 reminds us: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ That verse guides how we serve our customers and our community every day.”

28

I NSP IR E D BY | L I FE + C ULT U RE

Tia, a medical assistant at OrthoArkansas, says her newly gifted SUV will help her travel to work and church and transport her daughter to school and sports activities. “It is just such a blessing – much more than we could have expected or imagined,” Tia’s mother, Cynthia, says. “My team and I are always grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community,” Lee says. “When we lift others up, our community grows stronger. Imagine the impact if every business — large or small — found a way to give back. Together we can build a stronger, more compassionate community for everyone.”

What Brings Us Joy? Taking good care of you.

Wear Colors That Truly

LOVE YOU A quick guide to finding flattering shades for life. KNOW YOUR UNDERTONE Your undertone doesn’t change with the seasons. Check your wrist veins: blue means cool, green means warm, and unclear may be neutral. Cool tones love jewel colors; warm tones glow in earthy, rich shades.

CONSIDER CONTRAST Do you have high contrast between your hair, skin, and eyes (like dark hair and light skin)? High contrast looks great in bold, clear colors. Low contrast (like blonde hair and fair skin)? Softer, blended tones often suit you best.

THE WHITE VS. CREAM TEST Hold a white and ivory shirt near your face. If white flatters, you're likely cool-toned. If ivory glows against your skin, you're likely warm-toned. This quick test reveals your undertone with ease.

BUILD AROUND YOUR “WOW” COLORS Once you identify a few colors that make you look and feel amazing, use those as the base of your palette. These are your power colors—build your wardrobe and makeup around them!

PRO TIP You don’t have to follow rules perfectly. Your color palette is a guide, not a limit. Mix, match, and most importantly— wear what makes you feel beautiful.

Acclaimed Arkansas Artist Reveals the Inspiration Behind Works Celebrating Strength, Identity and Resilience

LISA KRANNICHFELD DEFINES BOLD STYLE ARTICLE BY STEPHANIE HASBROUCK | PHOTOGRAPHY CONTRIBUTED

CAN YOU TELL US THE STORY BEHIND YOUR PIECE ARISE THAT IS FEATURED ON OUR SEPTEMBER COVER?

I made Arise at the beginning of 2026. The inspiration for pieces sometimes comes from a certain style of clothing I find interesting, a color scheme or a pose. For Arise, it all started with the tie, which I think is the main focal point in this piece. I was inspired by the thick, wide ties of the 60s and 70s. In this piece, the tie is a symbol of the figure’s power and commanding presence with the incorporation of the mountain lions, but also highly feminine with the scallop edging and pastel pink color scheme, merging the powerful and the feminine together. The title references the pose of the figure pulling up her ‘big girl pants,’ a phrase I heard often as a child that I assume many women of my same generation also heard.

OUR SEPTEMBER THEME IS STYLE. HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE THE STYLE OF YOUR WORK?

I would describe the style of my work as both expressive and representational with a lot of opposing aesthetics happening in each piece. I love mixing both techniques and materials together that one would not naturally think would mix well

together. I often use soft, pastel colors with confrontational and aggressive undertones and intricate, detailed collage with loose watercolor. I like to think that this is a metaphor for women, even people in general, that you can be many different things at once, and all are valid parts of your identity.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WOMEN, FEEL WHEN THEY ENCOUNTER YOUR WORK?

Many don’t know this, but I cut off the faces in my compositions intentionally so women who encounter the work are more likely to recognize aspects of themselves or women they know in the paintings. I find this much more interesting than if the painting looks like one specific individual. Growing up as an art lover of mixed-race, I rarely, if ever, saw myself in the art I encountered which I think has stuck with me over the years. Art is much more meaningful if it ‘sees’ you while you see it, whether visually representing you in some way or exploring an experience or emotion you can relate to. I hope all kinds of women who encounter my work are ‘seen’ while they see it. For more about Lisa and her works, visit lisakrannichfeld.com.
