Hello Lincolnway, First of all, enjoy the rest of summer! We've had an odd summer of weather OR one might say Mother Nature was certainly showing off her style this summer. We experienced more uniqueness than we've seen in a long time. I'm personally happy to move on to the next season. How about you? Let's explore the season of STYLE! Most people automatically think of fashion when we say the word style. Style is so much more. This year we want to focus on COMMUNITY STYLE and all it brings with it. The word style denotes a specific way of doing, making or presenting. In other words, a unique manner of expression. When I think of Lincolnway, coming to mind are how cohesive four very different towns, and surrounding areas, can be. We align but we show our own colors. We connect but we beat to our own drum. Our stories this month cover everything from the areas' young entreprenuers and their ideas to a Community Style Showcase along with other opportunities to show our style or enhance yours! We love our area, let's put it on the catwalk! We are so excited to welcome The Little Gym of Orland Park, Marvelous Mouse Travels. and the Community Services Foundation for CTF Illinois. These are all great organizations, so please check them out. See you in the fall, All the best,

CAPTURE YOUR STYLE ARTICLE BY NICOLE SWANBERG WRIGHT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY CHRIS MORAN

Photography has the power to preserve more than appearances— it captures emotion, connection and the moments that shape our lives. For photographer Chris Moran, every session is an opportunity to tell a story that clients will treasure long after the day has passed. Chris describes his work as cinematic and story-driven, using bold light and thoughtful composition to create images that feel authentic rather than overly posed. His goal isn’t simply to make people look their best, but to create photographs that transport them back to a meaningful season of life. Building that connection begins before the camera comes out. Chris takes time to get to know his clients, creating a relaxed atmosphere with conversation, laughter and music. His wife, Briana, often joins sessions, helping people feel comfortable and confident while making the experience feel more like spending time with friends than posing for portraits. For Chris, the most memorable images are rarely the carefully planned ones. They’re the spontaneous moments in between—a shared glance between a couple, an unexpected laugh or a child simply being themselves. Those genuine

interactions often reveal more about a person’s character than any perfectly staged pose. Location is another essential part of the story. Whether photographing a family in their home, a business owner at work or musicians on stage, Chris believes the setting should have meaning rather than simply serve as a beautiful backdrop. In a world shaped by social media, Chris believes authenticity has become more important than perfection. While online platforms encourage creativity, they can also create unrealistic expectations. His favorite reaction is hearing a client say, “That feels like me.” As both a photographer and musician, Chris especially enjoys capturing live concerts, where the connection between performers and their audience unfolds naturally. Those moments can’t be rehearsed or recreated, making them some of his most meaningful work. Ultimately, Chris believes creativity isn’t about being different—it’s about honestly telling someone’s story. Every photograph, he says, should remind people not only how they looked, but who they were with, what they were celebrating, and how that moment in life truly felt.

Lincolnway’s Young Innovators ARTICLE BY NICOLE SWANBERG WRIGHT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY EMILY NOESEN Young entrepreneurs across the Lincolnway community showcased their creativity, confidence and business skills during this summer’s Young Entrepreneurs Fair events in New Lenox and Manhattan. The events gave children the opportunity to turn ideas into businesses and share their products with neighbors.

Little Loops Of Love

Risha Little Loops of Love

A single handmade gift sparked Risha’s entrepreneurial journey. After purchasing a crocheted item and experiencing the joy of receiving something made with care, Risha wanted to create that same feeling for others. She taught herself to crochet in 2024 and now creates colorful, customizable pieces through Little Loops of Love. Encouraged by her mom to embrace her individuality, Risha hopes her creations inspire others to express themselves confidently. “I want my style to express me as a unique person,” she says.

The B Team

Elva The B Team

A craft show discovery turned into a creative business opportunity for Elva. After seeing a diamond painting she loved, Elva began creating her own designs and selling them through The B Team. She carefully places each gem by hand to create colorful keychains, notebooks and accessories. While the process takes patience, Elva’s favorite part is seeing children’s excitement when they visit her booth. Her advice to fellow young entrepreneurs is simple: “Be creative!”

Designed to encourage entrepreneurship at an early age, the Young Entrepreneurs Fair provided a platform for kids to develop real-world skills while exploring their interests and passions. From handmade crafts and artwork to unique products and creative services, young business owners welcomed customers, practiced communication and learned the fundamentals of running a business.

The fairs brought families and community members together to support the next generation of innovators. More than a marketplace, the events celebrated imagination, determination and the courage it takes to bring an idea to life. Through these experiences, young participants gained valuable lessons in creativity, problem-solving and confidence while discovering that even the smallest ideas can make a big impact.

Chase Stress Less Squishies by Chase

A classroom Shark Tank project became the inspiration behind Stress Less Squishies by Chase. Drawn to the popularity of squishy toys, Chase began creating his own versions and quickly discovered how much he enjoyed the process. From twisting balloons to filling and wrapping each creation, he loves making every squishy by hand. While stuck flour balloons can be a challenge, Chase says his favorite creations are the biggest ones—because sometimes bigger really is better.

Aubrey Bizarre Book Creations

Rather than letting old books sit unused on a shelf, Aubrey gives them a creative second life through Bizarre Book Creations. An avid reader, she transforms forgotten books into unique decorative pieces with help from her mom. Each creation requires patience, precision and time, including up to 24 hours of drying. Every piece is made with intention and care. “This is all made out of love,” Aubrey says. “It takes a lot of effort and time.”

THE NEW Rules OF Skin STYLE: What Everyone Should Know About Skin Rejuvenation ARTICLE BY KENADEE BERRY PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEAN LACHAT

People assume aging begins when the first wrinkle appears, but the process starts much earlier. “In reality, our skin begins aging in our 20s as collagen production gradually declines,” says Dani DuCharme, Founder of Ageless Rituals. While aging is inevitable, many visible signs are shaped by everyday habits such as sun exposure, skincare routines, and overall lifestyle. “We’re all going to age, we just want to look and feel our best while doing it.” The conversation around skincare has evolved. Instead of chasing the idea of looking younger, more people are focusing on maintaining healthy skin and embracing natural results. As we age, cell turnover slows, blood flow decreases, and years of UV exposure begin to show as pigmentation, broken capillaries, and uneven textures. Laser technology improves skin quality by treating sun damage, pigmentation, redness, fine lines, and texture while stimulating your body’s own collagen production. Most people are surprised that lasers don’t simply ‘remove’ damaged skin, they stimulate your body’s natural healing process. Different lasers target different concerns by delivering specific wavelengths of light into the skin, signaling your body to produce new collagen and elastin. Over weeks and months following treatment, your skin repairs itself, becoming smoother, firmer, brighter, and healthier. Despite growing interest, misconceptions remain. Many assume laser treatments are only for older adults or that aggressive procedures always produce the best outcomes. Skincare professionals emphasize prevention can begin at any age and that treatment plans should be personalized. Just as importantly, no single procedure or product can address every concern.

24

S KIN CA R E | BEAUTY

The foundation of healthy skin remains surprisingly simple: wear sunscreen every day, establish a consistent skincare routine, and seek guidance from a qualified esthetician as your skin changes through the years. Healthy skin is built through daily habits, not quick fixes. That philosophy is embraced at Ageless Rituals, where the focus is not on stopping the aging process, but on helping clients retain healthy, confident skin throughout every stage of life.

INGREDIENTS: • • • • • •

1 bottle, standard size, of pinot grigio 2 1/2 cups fresh apple cider 1 cup club soda 1/2 cup ginger brandy 3 honey crisp apples, chopped 3 pears, chopped

DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients together and stir. Refrigerate for an hour or so (or longer) before serving. The drink can be enjoyed immediately, if desired, but the longer you let the ingredients sit and mix, the deeper the flavors will be. Giving it time to develop will make the drink more captivating and interesting.

NOTE: Regular brandy can be used, but ginger brandy gives it an extra kick of flavor.

STYLE ISN’T JUST WHAT YOU WEAR — IT’S WHAT PEOPLE REMEMBER ABOUT YOU

When people think about developing a personal style, they often begin with the visible pieces: a favorite color, a recognizable accessory or a carefully curated wardrobe. But the strongest signatures aren’t always what people see first. They’re what people experience. For Randi Lynn Quigley, her signature has never been about a specific aesthetic. It’s about the way she makes people feel.

Her focus shifted from simply being “the agent who works the hardest” to becoming “the advisor who thinks bigger” - someone who looks beyond the immediate need and helps people understand the bigger picture. That growth reflects an important lesson about personal style: it should evolve as we do. “Your brand grows up as you do,” she says A signature presence is not created through one defining moment. It is built through consistency: the everyday actions that shape how others experience us. For Randi Lynn, that means following through, communicating clearly and showing up with the same level of care regardless of the circumstances. “Reputation isn’t built in a single grand gesture,” she says. “It’s built in the hundred small moments where you do what you said you’d do.” Those small moments become the details people remember. They turn a first impression into trust and trust into lasting relationships. Finding your signature style begins with understanding what you want people to associate with your name.

“I hope people remember how I made them feel more than any single transaction,” Randi Lynn says. “That I showed up prepared, told them the truth even when it wasn’t the easy thing to say, and treated their goals like they were my own.” That philosophy has shaped the way she approaches everything from luxury real estate to coaching and financial education. While her professional roles have evolved, the foundation of her personal brand has remained consistent: helping people feel supported, informed and confident. Randi Lynn’s journey toward finding her own signature presence has been an evolution. Early in her career, she believed being known meant being everywhere and saying yes to every opportunity. She built her reputation on responsiveness and a willingness to work hard. Over time, she realized that being available and being valuable are two different things.

For Randi Lynn, those qualities are discipline, authenticity and a commitment to educating others. They are not simply traits she hopes to display; they’re habits she has intentionally practiced until they became part of who she is. “I’m a big believer that how you do anything is how you do everything,” Randi Lynn says. “I hold myself to a high standard whether anyone’s watching or not.” That mindset influences the way she approaches her work and relationships. She believes professionalism does not have to mean being distant, and honesty does not have to come at the expense of warmth. “I don’t believe you have to choose between being honest and being kind,” she says. That balance has become part of her signature. Whether she is working with clients, mentoring other professionals, or sharing financial strategies, Randi Lynn focuses on creating understanding rather than simply delivering information. She believes people feel most confident when they understand the decisions they are making — and that empowerment is a style choice of its own. “Educating my clients rather than just selling to them” has become one of the habits people associate with her approach, she says. “I want people to understand what they own and why.” The same intentionality applies when helping others develop their own professional presence. Randi Lynn encourages people to begin not with

what looks impressive, but with what feels true. “Start with what you actually value, not with what looks impressive,” she says. Creating a signature presence is not about trying to be known for everything. It is about identifying what matters most and showing up consistently enough that others begin to recognize it. In a world where trends change quickly and personal branding can sometimes feel performative, authenticity remains one of the most lasting forms of style. Randi Lynn believes the goal is not to chase a version of success that belongs to someone else. “I’d rather grow slowly in a direction that’s true to me than grow fast into someone I don’t recognize,” she says. That mindset has allowed her personal brand to expand while staying rooted in the same core values. New opportunities, new tools and new challenges may shape the way she works, but they do not change why she does it. Ultimately, finding your signature is about alignment — making sure the way you show up reflects what you value most. The strongest personal styles are not created by imitation. They come from knowing who you are, what you stand for and how you want others to feel after interacting with you. For Randi Lynn, that signature is clear: knowledgeable, honest and always in someone’s corner. Because the most memorable style is not just something people notice. It is something they remember.
