March always feels like a deep breath of fresh air. I see new life, buttercups springing up, signs of a new season ahead.
The light lingers a little longer. Windows get cracked open. We begin to imagine what could grow, change, or be refreshed—inside our homes and within ourselves. There’s something about this season that gently nudges us to take inventory of what truly matters and make room for what’s next.

Our March Home Edition is a celebration of just that.
Inside these pages, you’ll find beautiful home details, inspired local professionals, and thoughtful details that remind us that home is so much more than four walls. It’s where stories are told, meals are shared, and life happens—both in the quiet moments and the joyful, messy ones. Home is deeply personal, and in Lebanon, it’s also deeply connected to community. I’m continually inspired by the talent and heart of the builders, designers, tradesmen, and creatives who help shape the places we live. Their work doesn’t just create beautiful spaces—it creates gathering places, legacies, and a sense of belonging. This publication honors their craftsmanship and the pride they take in helping our neighbors love where they live.
As we step into spring, I hope this edition inspires you to open the doors, refresh a space, plant something new, or simply sit back and appreciate the home you’re building—whatever that looks like in this season of life.
Thank you for welcoming Lebanon City Lifestyle into your homes each month. It’s a true honor to tell the stories of this community and the people who make it so special.
Here’s to fresh starts, thoughtful spaces, and the beauty of coming home.

Benton Thomas Construction brings vision to life with custom woodwork, masonry and personalized design

Step inside this Lebanon residence, and you immediately sense that it is unlike any other. From the dark, rich white oak trim that frames the home to the two custom masonry walls that anchor the space, every detail has been carefully considered and expertly executed. This is the kind of home where craftsmanship meets personality, a place that feels both monumental and intimately personal—and it bears the unmistakable mark of Benton Thomas Construction GP (BTC).
The open floor plan invites gatherings of all kinds. A large central space is perfect for entertaining, yet there are also intimate areas for more formal meals or casual evenings at the bar. In the dining room, a dance of light and dark unfolds: white oak accents crown the ceiling and stretch underfoot, creating a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere. Every piece of trim, every carved detail, required custom hardware, a challenge BTC met with precision, sourcing iron fittings, brackets and bands from a specialized artisan in Idaho. The result is a seamless blend of rustic charm and refined artistry.
Yet what truly makes this home exceptional is the collaboration behind it—and the relationship that formed throughout the process. Homeowner Marnita J. Jordan describes it best:
"When you custom build a home, you quickly learn who your builder is and what they stand for – and if you’re blessed, as I was, you learn to love them in the process. What makes the gentlemen of Benton Thomas Construction stand out is customer service and total client satisfaction. These men made every effort to ensure that for me. And, they don’t stop when the last nail is driven in or the last brush stroke of paint is applied. They still care that I’m happy in my new home. With Ben, Clay & Thomas, you not only build a beautiful home –you build a beautiful friendship."
That spirit of trust and collaboration is evident throughout the residence. Marnita took a previous BTC plan and, working with a recommended architect, adapted it to her vision—adding square footage and personal touches along the way. Her theme of rustic western elegance is woven through every space, from the furnishings to the architectural choices and overall ambiance. From the commercial-grade kitchen to the custom wood and masonry features, every element feels intentional. This is not just a house; it is a home that belongs to her, one that tells her story with authenticity and style.
BTC itself is a family legacy built on decades of hands-on experience and unwavering commitment to quality. Founder Ben Forkum began as a teenage laborer, learning every trade from carpentry to full-scale home construction, by 1992, he had launched Ben Forkum Construction, earning a reputation for integrity and craftsmanship. His sons, Benton “Clay” Forkum III and Thomas Forkum, grew up on job sites, absorbing lessons in perseverance, leadership and precision. Together they created a boutique construction company dedicated to building no more than 24 to 30 homes a year, each one a testament to their attention to detail and personal touch.
Clay brings disciplined leadership, shaped by scouting and the military, ensuring each project meets BTC’s exacting standards. Thomas, whose passion for building grew from early lessons in resilience, applies his hands-on knowledge from multiple trades to every home the company undertakes. With their father, they have cultivated a company that doesn’t just construct homes, it crafts legacies.
This Lebanon home exemplifies that ethos. Every oak beam, every iron bracket, every carefully designed corner reflects BTC’s philosophy: build with integrity, with artistry, and with a deep understanding of the people who will call it home.

Celebrating generations of family-owned service, DT McCall’s helps Middle Tennessee homes evolve with quality, innovation and personal care
BY
ARTICLE BY LINDSEY HICKMAN

For nearly 125 years, D.T. McCall & Sons has been a trusted name in Middle Tennessee, providing the furniture, appliances and home essentials that make a house a home. While the Lebanon location celebrates 25 years this year, the McCall legacy stretches back to the late 1800s in the Flat Rock Community on the Smith County/Wilson County line.
Originally a general store selling groceries, farm implements and wood stoves, the McCall business evolved as community needs shifted. By the 1920s, D.T. McCall had expanded to Carthage, receiving shipments in a small rented space and selling milking machines and Corn King mineral products via horse and wagon. Post–World War II, appliances became part of the inventory, and as more of D.T. McCall’s sons joined the business, furniture, central heating, and air systems were added. By the 1990s, lawn mowers and other home essentials made the store a go-to destination for nearly everything a family might need. Today, D.T. McCall & Sons continues to thrive because it has remained family-owned, committed to offering major brand names at the best value, with free delivery and no hidden charges.
Despite expanding to multiple locations in Lebanon, Carthage, Lafayette and Cookeville, DT McCall’s remains deeply rooted in the communities it serves.
“We are members of the Chamber of Commerce, support high school sports, Cumberland University baseball, and local events like the Taste of Wilson County,” explains the Lebanon store manager Dustin Martin. “We know that in order for our business to grow, we need to be good stewards of the community.” That balance of local connection and strategic growth has allowed D.T. McCall’s to flourish while staying true to its hometown ethos.

Honoring history while embracing innovation is central to the store’s philosophy. Lebanon’s manager, the only location not daily staffed by a McCall family member, emphasizes the importance of staying current with trends without losing sight of the brand’s roots. “We attend the Furniture Market in High Point, NC, and multiple trade shows for appliances each year to ensure our offerings meet modern customer needs,” he notes. From classic furniture to cutting-edge appliances, D.T. McCall’s curates products that consider style, functionality, and longevity.
Helping customers “create a home, not just fill a space” is at the heart of DT McCall’s mission. Staff members educate clients on warranties, manufacturing details, comfort, and functionality, ensuring each purchase will be loved for years to come. “We want customers to make choices they’ll appreciate a decade from now, avoiding the regret of impulse buys,” Dustin says.
The store also plays a role in life milestones— new homes, renovations, growing families, and even emergencies. “Every day, customers tell us that everything in their home came from D.T. McCall’s,” he explains, “If a refrigerator breaks down, we deliver the next day. If a recliner needs repair, we handle it. We understand the importance of these items in people’s lives.”
Looking ahead, DT McCall’s is excited to preserve its core traditions, quality products, fair pricing, free delivery, and in-house servicing, while embracing innovations in home technology. From recliners with Bluetooth audio, haptic feedback, and massage functions to upcoming sectionals with built-in projectors for an immersive home theater experience, the store continues to evolve alongside its customers’ needs.
With products ranging from Amish-made mattresses and custom dining sets to Speed Queen washers, Cub Cadet mowers, and the largest selection of Liberty Gun Safes in Tennessee, DT McCall’s has something for everyone. Whether furnishing a first home, upgrading appliances, or investing in the latest home tech, generations of families have trusted the McCall name to deliver quality, value, and heart.
Discover More: Visit DT McCall’s at their Lebanon, Carthage, Lafayette, or Cookeville locations to explore fully customizable furniture brands like La-Z-Boy, England, Mayo, and Archbold, or shop Speed Queen, Cub Cadet, and Liberty Gun Safes. For more information, visit DTMcCall.com .

“D.T. McCall & Sons helps customers think beyond just filling a space—educating them on comfort, quality, and function so their home grows with them, evolving beautifully for years to come.”

JOE BERETTA FOUNDATION DINNER IN THE VINES BLENDS
PURPOSE WITH ELEGANCE
ARTICLE BY LINDSEY HICKMAN
PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOE BERETTA HEART FOUNDATION

For Kevin and Christine New, supporting the Joe Beretta Heart Foundation is deeply personal. “Like so many families, we understand how suddenly heart disease can impact the people you love most,” they say. The Foundation’s mission—raising awareness, providing education, and supporting heart health—resonates with the News because it’s about protecting families and giving others the chance to live longer, healthier lives. By serving as event chairs for this year’s Dinner in the Vines, they aim to honor the importance of caring for one another while giving back to the community.
The News describe Dinner in the Vines as more than a gala—it’s an experience that blends purpose with elegance. “Guests aren’t just attending a dinner; they’re directly fueling life-changing programs for families in crisis,” Kevin explains. From live and silent auctions to curated culinary experiences and thoughtful surprises, every detail of the evening is intentional. “There really is no event like it,” Christine adds, “and we’ve planned some incredible moments this year that will take the evening to a whole new level.”
The venue itself, a private vineyard, adds a layer of meaning to the celebration. “Joe Beretta, with Lillian’s help, planted every single vine by hand before he passed,” they share, “Although he never got to taste the wine, the vineyard has become a living part of his legacy.” Hosting the event there reminds attendees that things built with love and intention continue to grow, giving long after they are planted. The setting, surrounded by nature and fine wine, makes the evening feel both personal and purposeful.
This year’s event promises a Tuscan Gardens theme, celebrating abundance of love, community and generosity, and honoring the Foundation’s 10 years of service to families affected by heart failure. Highlights include open bar offerings, live and silent auctions, and two highly anticipated tasting upgrades: the always-sold-out wine tasting and, for the first time, a whiskey tasting experience. “Our vision as chairs is to create an experience that feels joyful, personal, and inspiring,” Kevin explains, “leaving guests connected to the Foundation’s mission and each other.”
“Dinner in the Vines isn’t just a dinner— it’s a chance to support families, honor community, and make a meaningful impact.”
Philanthropy thrives when the community comes together, and the News are grateful for Middle Tennessee’s generosity. “When people can see and feel the impact of their giving, it strengthens the community and expands the Foundation’s ability to serve more families with compassion,” Christine says.
For those new to JBHF, the News emphasize that the Foundation meets families in moments of real crisis, often making the difference between stability and devastation.
Dinner in the Vines is more than a social event, it’s an opportunity to be part of something life-changing. Tickets for the May 30, 2026, event are available now at JBHeart.org , and the team is expecting another sold-out year. “Whether you attend, give, or help spread the word, your involvement truly makes a difference,” they say.
This celebration is about heart—both literally and figuratively—a testament to what generosity, intention, and community can accomplish when they come together for a meaningful cause.

Brooke Riley, founder of Re-Fabbed, has always believed that “God never works in a straight line.” Her journey—from Kentucky to Lebanon, Tennessee, and back again—has shaped both her faith and her entrepreneurial vision. “When we felt called to move here, we felt complete peace,” Brooke recalls. Yet just months later, they were drawn back to their original home, a move that defied their plans but strengthened their resilience and trust in God’s timing. “I can see God’s hand in every part of it,” she says, “He’s made me more resilient and strong than I ever realized possible.”
Now, Brooke is returning to Lebanon with her highly anticipated Creative Circle Business Retreat on March 27 at the Capitol. “I love Lebanon and its hometown feel,” she explains, “The quaint, bustling downtown, the nostalgic vibe, the venue itself—it all felt perfect for this retreat. Every detail, from stage visibility to walking-distance food and shopping, was ideal.”
Lebanon’s charm and community have left a lasting impression on Brooke. “The people were so welcoming. It didn’t feel small-town lonely; it felt expansive, encouraging creativity and big ideas,” she shares. This atmosphere is exactly what she cultivates in her coaching: a space where visionaries can dream boldly and find support. “It provides me the environment to blossom—and to create a place for growth for others.”
“STOP PLAYING SMALL. THERE’S A WORLD OF OPPORTUNITY OUT THERE, AND THE FIRST STEP IS CONQUERING THE WAR IN YOUR MIND.”

“I
Through Creative Circle Coaching, Brooke works with a diverse group of entrepreneurs, guiding them to see possibilities they may not have imagined. “I want them to think bigger,” she says, “Stop playing small. There’s a world of opportunity out there, and the first step is conquering the war in your mind.”
Her retreats inspire breakthroughs across business, mindset, finances, and even personal health, “Whether it’s a new revenue stream, a mindset shift, or a connection that propels a business forward, the sky is the limit in just two days.”
Brooke’s mission is clear: empower women to walk fully in their purpose. “To cheer them on, teach them, and watch them meet their goals is one of the greatest gifts I could ever receive,” she says. Her retreats elevate that mission in person, creating an
immersive environment where ideas flourish, confidence grows, and life-work balance is restored.

A Lebanon-to-Sevierville Adventure

ARTICLE BY LINDSEY HICKMAN | PHOTOGRAPHY
PROVIDED BY KATHLEEN TING AND SEVIERVILLE CVB
Just a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Lebanon, the Smoky Mountains await with a perfect blend of adventure, natural beauty, and the comforts of home. Nestled among the rolling foothills of Sevierville, Misty Bliss isn’t just a vacation rental—it’s a retreat designed to make guests feel

immediately at ease, as if they’ve stepped into a home crafted just for them.
Owner Kathleen Ting’s inspiration came from years of family travels. “After staying at many vacation rentals and hotels, I wanted to go beyond just the space,” she explains. The result is a modern mountain cabin that fuses natural Appalachian textures with sleek, mountain-modern lines. Expansive windows frame the surrounding wilderness, inviting sunlight to spill into open gathering spaces, while carefully curated natural tones echo the forests and skies outside.
Inside, guests are met with a thoughtful balance of play and relaxation. A theater, pool, and game room keep younger visitors entertained, while an infrared sauna, hot tub, and quiet nooks offer adults a chance to rejuvenate. High-end linens, artisanal soaps, and spa-like touches extend the sense of home into every corner. Kathleen notes, “A true home away from home generates the same feelings you get at your own home— safe, relaxed, and comfortable.”
The journey begins with family or friends in tow, winding east from Lebanon through the scenic hills of Middle Tennessee into the foothills of the Smokies. First stops can include the American Eagle Foundation, where guests of all ages can explore the nation’s largest educational campus for bald eagles and other raptors. Tours reveal a stunning collection of 40-plus resident birds, including hawks, owls, falcons, and vultures, all set against 57 acres of forested sanctuary. The New Talons & Tidbits Bird Feeding Adventure adds a hands-on touch, while the online eagle cams allow guests to continue the experience from the comfort of Misty Bliss.
For thrills and mountain fun, SkyLand Ranch offers Sevierville’s only mountaintop attraction. Families can ride the Southeast’s longest mountain coaster, soar from the WagonWheeler swing tower, or enjoy live entertainment in a Wild West-themed setting. On-site dining, miniature farm animals, and the Horizon Skyride chairlift provide moments CONTINUED >

of wonder against panoramic Smoky Mountain backdrops.
No Smoky Mountains adventure is complete without a taste of local flavor.
The Apple Barn Cider Mill & General Store spans 65 acres of historic orchards cultivated since 1910. Visitors can sample fresh-baked cinnamon bread, sip hard cider, and browse the general store for gifts and treats, all while connecting with the legacy of the Kilpatrick family who still tend the land.
After a day exploring, there’s no better place to return than Misty Bliss. Guests can sip coffee on the wraparound porch as mist rises from the valleys, gather around the stone fireplace for evening stories, or unwind in the vibrant infrared sauna. With
spaces designed for both connection and solitude, the cabin embodies the spirit of the Smokies while offering the restorative comforts of home.
Whether hosting multigenerational family trips, bachelorette weekends, hiking groups, or corporate retreats, Misty Bliss stands out as a space where memories are made. Kathleen reflects, “Becoming a host has transformed my life and brought so many wonderful people into it. I feel very lucky to have this experience.”
From the rolling hills of Lebanon to the breathtaking peaks of Sevierville, this journey offers more than just a getaway— it’s a chance to reconnect with nature, with loved ones, and most importantly, with the feeling of being at home.
