The 20-MINUTE, ONCE-A-WEEK

WORKOUT that helps this former All-American keep up with her grandkids

Kim Russell, a former All-American swimmer and triathlete, has always embraced physical challenges. Now 64, she’s training for her current goal: a long, healthy life filled with adventures and the energy to keep up with her three grandchildren.

Instead of hours in the gym, Kim is making it happen by spending just 20 minutes a week at 20 Minutes to Fitness, building strength in a way that’s safe and sustainable as she ages.

Kim first heard about 20 Minutes to Fitness through her book club. “A few women talked about how much stronger they felt after training there,” Kim says. “I gave it a try—and haven’t looked back.”

MOVING SLOW IS THE SECRET At 20 Minutes to Fitness, clients train on specialized equipment under the guidance of a certified coach. The difference is slow-cadence training, which calls for lifting weights slowly. Each repetition takes about 20 seconds, compared to just two to four seconds in traditional weight training.

This ultra-slow pace leads to better results. “Our method triggers deep muscle engagement, increasing strength without stressing joints,” says Blake, general manager. “It’s a safe, efficient way to build muscle.”

Each session targets every major muscle group. That means spending two to three minutes on six or seven machines. “The goal is muscle fatigue,” Blake explains. “That signals the body to rebuild stronger muscle fibers.”

SHORT TIME, BIG BENEFITS

Since starting the program over a year ago, Kim has noticed a difference—especially in her back. “I used to throw my back out just unloading the dishwasher,” she says.

“When I started, my main goal was to lift my grandkids and get off the floor pain-free,” she adds. “I can do that. I feel strong again.”

Her coach, Anna, gradually increases resistance, ensuring steady progress. “She knows how much to push me,” Kim adds. “It’s personalized, and that makes all the difference.”

Strength that supports your life. In addition to improving strength, studies show this method can boost energy, improve balance, reduce pain and help manage chronic conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis.

“We’ve had clients postpone joint replacements because their muscles are stronger,” says Angela, general manager.

CONVENIENT, CUSTOMIZED—AND IT WORKS

Another thing that keeps Kim coming back is the workout’s simplicity. “One session a week, no crowds, no pressure. It fits into my schedule, and I feel better than I have in years,” she says.

“People don’t always believe it works until they try it. But I’m proof it does.”

The Spaces That Shape Us

Home has always meant more to me than walls, square footage, or finishes. It’s the place where life happens in its most honest form. It's where we exhale at the end of the day, gather around tables, create routines, and weather seasons of change.

Over the years, my definition of home has evolved. It’s no longer just where we live, it’s how we live. Home is the backdrop to our mornings and our milestones, our quiet moments and our celebra tions. It’s where children grow, relationships deepen, and memories are made without us even realizing it at the time.

In today’s fast-paced world, home has become more important than ever. It’s our refuge. Our reset. Our grounding place. Whether it’s a thoughtfully designed kitchen, a peaceful bedroom, a clean and organized space, or a neighborhood that feels like community, the details matter, because they shape how we feel every day.

This Homes Issue is a reflection of that belief. Inside these pages, we highlight the people and businesses who help elevate the way we experience home, from design and craftsmanship to real estate guidance, wellness, and care. These are the local community partners who understand that home isn’t just an investment, it’s deeply personal.

At Lakewood City Lifestyle, we believe homes tell stories. They reflect the lives lived within them and the values of the people who create them. This issue celebrates not only beautiful spaces, but the intention, expertise, and heart behind them.

As you turn these pages, I hope you feel inspired; not just to improve your home, but to appreciate it. To slow down. To notice the moments that make it meaningful. And to remember that the most beautiful homes are the ones that support the lives unfolding inside them—and the local community that helps make them possible.

My hope for these pages is simple and heartfelt: that they inspire you to choose local, support the businesses in our community, and invest in the people who help make Lakewood Ranch feel like home. This publication was built on the belief that community matters and that when we support local businesses, we strengthen the place we live together.

Welcome home.

VISUAL LIFT MEDIA

HELPING FAMILIES FIND HOME ON FLORIDA’S GULF COAST

It's not always about how many square feet a home has or what zip code it's in. It is about timing, emotion, and the quiet hope that the next place will support the life you are stepping into. People often move when they are going through a life change, like having a baby, changing jobs, moving to a smaller place, or starting over. These moments are often filled with both excitement and uncertainty. “When you can navigate the emotions associated with these life changes, whether delicate or exciting, you serve a higher purpose to your clients, and they can see you truly care,” says Laura.

That belief is at the core of how Laura and Matt Rode, owners of the Sarasota Gulf Coast Homes Team with Keller Williams, approach real estate. For them, buying or selling a home is never just a transaction—it’s a deeply personal decision tied to lifestyle, family, and future plans. As Laura explains, “Buying and selling real estate is one of the biggest investments people are ever going to make. They want to trust you and feel confident in your guidance. Our team leads from a place of seeking to understand our clients' goals and the WHY behind the move. This builds a strong foundation to our relationships, and eventually we find ourselves becoming one of their main advisors when life events and opportunities arise.”

That advisory role goes beyond market statistics or contract negotiations. It means helping clients slow down, ask the right questions, and make decisions that align with their long-term vision—not just the urgency of the moment.

“Communication and honesty matter more than anything," Matt says. “We have found that people appreciate clarity and true expectations even when it may not be exactly what they want to hear. People want the truth, and that truth is what helps guide them to make a good decision for their family.” That openness and integrity build trust and create relationships that extend well beyond the closing table.

Delivering that level of care consistently requires more than just two people. Their business is built around a collaborative team model designed to support both clients and agents at every step of the process. “Two people can only do so much,” Matt explains, noting that growth meant relying on others who excel in their own areas of expertise. Together, everyone achieves more, resulting in a dependable, white-glove service model that clients experience regardless of price point.

The culture of the team is intentional and closely protected. Laura shares, “Our team culture is client-focused, collaborative, and supportive. It's like that on purpose because the culture has a direct effect on the client experience.” Every agent follows the same systems and processes, ensuring clarity, consistency, and confidence throughout the journey. That consistency is what allows clients to feel comfortable referring friends and family, knowing they’ll receive the same level of care.

The Sarasota Gulf Coast Homes Team consists of a diverse group of professionals deeply immersed in the Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch communities. “Many of our team members are native to the area,” Laura says. “We live here, raise our families here, and play here just like everyone else looking to be here.” From urban living and waterfront neighborhoods to island life and equestrian communities, the team understands the nuances that define each lifestyle and helps clients find the right fit, not just the right address.

“We grow with the families that buy and sell with us,” Laura adds. The team serves as a trusted advisor at every stage of life, from purchasing a first home to making strategic investments for the future. “We're not just thinking about it as one sale,” she says. “We see it as the start of a long-term relationship.”

In a market driven by speed and headlines, Laura and Matt prioritize presence and perspective. They take the time to listen, educate, and guide, ensuring clients feel informed rather than rushed. That steady approach helps people move forward with confidence, knowing their decisions are supported by both experience and genuine care.

Laura and Matt have built something stable and predictable in a market that is constantly evolving. Their work is rooted in trust, strengthened by teamwork, and guided by integrity. A home should bring joy, provide a safe place for families to grow, and create space for connection and friendship. It’s about being in the right place as life unfolds, and that is what truly turns a move into a home.

“WE GROW WITH THE FAMILIES THAT BUY AND SELL WITH US.”

WHERE FUNCTION Meets BEAUTY

The Heart of the Home

Every home has a natural gathering place—the space where life unfolds day after day. Meals are prepared there. Conversations linger. Homework is completed, celebrations unfold, and quiet moments happen in between. It’s the place guests gravitate toward and families return to instinctively. In most homes, that space is anchored by the kitchen, and more specifically, the countertop.

Countertops sit at the center of daily life, quietly supporting both the beauty and demands of living. They are leaned on during conversations, covered with ingredients during meal prep, and wiped down long after guests leave. While often viewed as a design element, countertops are deeply functional surfaces that shape how a home is experienced every single day.

At Fine Countertops of Sarasota, craftsmanship begins with the belief that countertops are foundational to a home—not just aesthetically, but emotionally and practically as well. The company approaches every project with the understanding that these surfaces are meant to be lived on, not just admired.

Co-owner Valeria Dos Santos brings a personal, hands-on approach rooted in the company’s family-owned origins and a deep respect for quality that extends far beyond appearance alone.

“Being family-owned really shapes how we do everything,” Valeria explains. “We focus on quality and craftsmanship because our name is on every job. We also treat our clients like family—clear communication, respect for their home, and no cutting corners. To us, a home isn’t just a project; it’s a lived-in space, so we’re careful, thoughtful, and intentional with every install and detail.”

That philosophy is evident in how Fine Countertops of Sarasota approaches both design and client relationships. Rather than pushing trends or rushing decisions, the team prioritizes education and collaboration—helping homeowners choose materials that not only elevate the look of their space, but truly support how they live.

Countertops play a defining role in how kitchens and bathrooms look, feel, and function. They visually anchor a room while supporting everyday routines that unfold around them.

“Countertops naturally become the gathering place in a home,” Valeria shares. “Visually, they set the tone for the entire kitchen, but in everyday life, they’re where people cook, talk, work, and spend time together. Because they’re used constantly, they have to be both beautiful and functional. Choosing the right countertop isn’t just about design, it’s about how the home is lived in every day.”

Understanding that balance is where Fine Countertops truly excels. The team guides clients through material selection with transparency and honesty, helping them understand how each option performs over time. Durability, maintenance, lifestyle demands, and long-term value are all part of the conversation.

“We explain how each material holds up—things like how it handles heat, spills, daily wear, and maintenance, so clients know exactly what they’re getting,” Valeria says. “From there, we help them weigh upfront cost versus long-term value and choose a surface that fits both their lifestyle and their goals for the home.”

“To us, a home isn’t just a project; it’s a lived-in space, so we’re careful, thoughtful, and intentional with every install and detail.”

This educational approach empowers homeowners to make confident decisions, whether they’re designing a forever home or preparing a property for resale. It also reinforces the idea that countertops are not just surfaces, they are long-term investments in the function and enjoyment of a space.

Beyond material selection, countertops play a vital role in unifying the overall design of a room. When thoughtfully chosen, they connect cabinetry, flooring, and backsplashes into a cohesive, balanced aesthetic. Fine Countertops encourages homeowners to view the space as a whole rather than focusing on any single element in isolation.

“Balance is key,” Valeria explains. “We look at color, texture, and movement so nothing competes. The countertop should complement the cabinetry, flooring, and backsplash—not overpower them. When everything works together, the space feels intentional and timeless.”

That timelessness is especially important for homeowners thinking about resale value. Countertops are often one of the first features buyers notice, and the right choice can instantly elevate how a home is perceived. Durable, well-chosen materials signal quality, care, and longevity.

“A well-selected countertop makes a kitchen or bathroom feel updated and well cared for,” Valeria notes. “For resale, materials like quartz or natural stone tend to appeal to a wide range of buyers. They feel classic, durable, and polished—without being overly personalized.”

Behind every finished surface is a meticulous process built on precision and care. From the initial measurement and templating to fabrication and final installation, Fine Countertops of Sarasota prioritizes accuracy at every step.

“Quality and detail are at the heart of everything we do,” Valeria shares. “We double-check measurements, ensure seams are tight, edges are perfect, and the fit is flawless. It’s not just about the stone, it’s about how it’s brought to life in the home so it looks and functions beautifully for years.”

“We focus on quality and craftsmanship because our name is on every job. We also treat our clients like family— clear communication, respect for their home, and no cutting corners.”

For Valeria, success isn’t defined solely by a beautiful final product, but by how that space supports daily life once the project is complete.

“I want homeowners to feel proud, comfortable, and genuinely happy in their space,” she says. “Not just that it looks good, but that it works for them. Success for us is hearing that the countertop fits their lifestyle, holds up to daily use, and adds joy to their everyday routines.”

With a family-first mindset, thoughtful guidance, and an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, Fine Countertops of Sarasota helps homeowners create surfaces that elevate daily life, right at the heart of the home.

Ultimately, Fine Countertops of Sarasota believes that the best design choices are the ones that quietly support everyday living. When craftsmanship, material selection, and thoughtful guidance come together, the result is a space that feels effortless, enduring, and personal. It’s this attention to both form and function that allows a countertop to do more than complete a room, it enhances the way a home is experienced, day after day, for years to come.

Inside Integrity Sound

Raising the Volume

on Modern Living

In an era where the smart home is no longer a futuristic ideal but an everyday reality, one company in Florida has stood at the forefront of making sophisticated technology seamless, intuitive, and exceptionally stylish. Integrity Sound has become one of the most respected names in audio/video, home automation, and integrated smart-living solutions—helping residents and businesses elevate how they experience sound, media, and connected living.

Whether you’re a film aficionado craving cinematic perfection in your living room, a design enthusiast looking for lighting and shading control that marries form and function, or a homeowner craving effortless control over your

environment, Integrity Sound provides upscale solutions that seamlessly blend cutting-edge tech with everyday lifestyle comfort.

What sets Integrity Sound apart is not just the breadth of services they offer, but the philosophy behind them: relationships are built on integrity. The company was built on the principle that exceptional service and personalized solutions should come first, long before the products themselves.

Joe Carder is the founder and driving force behind Integrity Sound, launching the company in 2007 with a vision rooted in exceptional service and a deeply personal commitment to client satisfaction. An industry veteran whose audio/video experience stretches back to the mid-1980s, Carder built Integrity Sound on the belief that long-term relationships matter as much as the systems themselves.

Once you work with Integrity Sound, things don’t just end there. You aren’t just a line item on their books. According to Carder, “we’re there after the sale”. Integrity Sound values the relationship with the customer, not just the product you purchase from them.

Integrity Sound has always emphasized honesty, respect, and customer service as core values. These beliefs helped Integrity Sound

grow from a small specialty provider into a premier custom technology design and integration specialist in Southwest Florida—serving Sarasota and surrounding communities for over two decades.

It’s a reputation that doesn’t come easy in a world where technology can often feel impersonal. Integrity Sound’s approach is refreshingly human: consultative guidance, carefully crafted solutions, and an emphasis on long-term satisfaction rather than quick sales.

So, how does Integrity Sound approach home automation? “With passion and attention to detail”, said Carder.

A SPECTRUM OF SMART SOLUTIONS

Integrity Sound offers a comprehensive suite of services that transform everyday spaces into immersive, intuitive environments. Their expertise bridges both residential lifestyles and commercial needs, making high-end technology accessible and functional for all kinds of clients. “We are a diversified company”, said Carder.

COMMERCIAL TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

Today, businesses rely on technology that not only supports operations but enhances customer experiences. Integrity Sound extends its residential expertise into the commercial world, designing systems that elevate spaces like:

• Boardrooms with professional audio/video conferencing

• Retail environments with integrated sound and display systems

• Hospitality venues with immersive entertainment and control

One of the defining elements of Integrity Sound’s work is the consultative process. Rather than simply selling the latest systems or gadgets, their team invests time in understanding client goals and challenges. They offer expert planning, thoughtful engineering, and conscientious project management from start to finish.

This approach means that whether you’re dipping your toes into smart home details for the first-time or a seasoned tech enthusiast, the solution you get is built around your lifestyle-not around inventory or trends.

With two showrooms, one in Sarasota and one in Lakewood Ranch, Integrity Sound serves as both a design hub and technology showcase. Here, prospective clients can explore cutting-edge systems, consult with specialists, and immerse themselves in the possibilities of modern living.

As home and business lifestyles continue to evolve, the role of integrated technology becomes more central to comfort, convenience, and connection. With decades of experience under its belt and a team that stays at the forefront of technology trends, Integrity Sound is well positioned to help Sarasota area homes and commercial spaces live smarter, sound richer, and feel more connected

Whether you’re planning a new build, renovating your entertainment space, or simply curious about what smart technologies can do for your life, visiting Integrity Sound may be the first step toward transforming space into experience—where every sound, light, click, and connection is crafted with intention.

Clean Home, Clear Mind — How Cloud Nine Helps Homes Feel Their Best

ELEVATED LIVING THROUGH CLEAN SPACES

In today’s fast-paced world, the idea of home has evolved beyond four walls. Home is where families reset, reconnect, and find calm amid full schedules and constant demands. At the heart of that experience is something deceptively simple: a clean, thoughtfully cared-for space. For Cloud Nine Cleaning, that belief isn’t a tagline, it’s the foundation of everything they do.

Founded as a small, family-run operation helping neighbors, Cloud Nine Cleaning grew from a simple realization: clutter and mess don’t just affect homes, they affect people. What began as a way to lend a hand quickly transformed into a mission rooted in care and service. Over time, the focus shifted from cleaning houses to supporting households, with an emphasis on reducing stress and creating environments that feel lighter, calmer, and easier to live in. Cleaning may be the service, but peace of mind is the true outcome.

The phrase “Clean Home, Clear Mind” has become closely tied to wellness culture, but for the Cloud Nine team, it’s something they witness every day. Clients often describe the same moment, walking into a freshly cleaned home, pausing, taking a deeper breath, and feeling an immediate sense of relief. It’s what the team refers to as emotional housekeeping: when the home feels under control, the mind naturally follows.

That emotional shift extends far beyond aesthetics. Families who invest in consistent professional cleaning often notice subtle but meaningful changes in daily life. Evenings feel calmer. Homes are enjoyed rather than constantly managed. When cleaning is no longer a lingering task, parents gain patience, children gain freedom to play, and families gain time together. A tidy home quietly reshapes the atmosphere.

Cloud Nine Cleaning approaches their work not as a task to be checked off, but as a lifestyle enhancement. By reframing cleaning as an act of self-care rather than obligation, they help clients create space for what matters most. The shift often happens after that first experience by walking into a spotless home after a long day changes perspective. Cleaning becomes a support system, not another responsibility.

The impact is most evident in the stories clients share. One work-from-home mother of three described waking each morning already stressed by the mess left behind the night before. After several months of consistent service, her home finally felt manageable. “I can actually think again,” she said. Her productivity improved, her children noticed her calmer demeanor, and evenings became a time for rest rather than catching up on chores, Owner, Miroslav explains.

As a family-owned business, trust and consistency are central to Cloud Nine’s approach. Team members are trained with the same standards expected in the owners’ own homes—respect for personal space, attention to detail, and reliable systems that ensure each visit meets the same level of care. Miroslav says that clear communication and thorough vetting provide peace of mind alongside pristine spaces which keeps happy and consistent clients.

In a world where time is increasingly precious, outsourcing cleaning offers more than convenience. It gives families their hours back, turning weekends once lost to chores into moments for rest, connection, and renewal. Clean spaces don’t just support daily life, they elevate it.
