Dear Readers,
As I sit down to write this final letter from the editor, my heart is full. After much reflection, I’ve made the bittersweet decision to step away from my role as editor in order to focus on a new and deeply personal chapter—raising my beautiful baby.
This magazine has meant a lot to me because of the people's stories I've filled it with, and serving as your editor has been an incredible honor. From curating stories that inspire, to meeting passionate business owners, creative minds, and community leaders who make this area such a special place to call home, it has been a memorable experience.

20 Minutes to Fitness gives Dr. Claire McGill the strength and stamina her family medicine practice demands.
Dr. Claire McGill, 35, logs long hours in her family medicine practice in Lakewood Ranch, while also juggling life at home with a young child. Finding time to exercise isn’t easy, but since 2020, she’s made it work with weekly sessions at 20 Minutes to Fitness.

How to keep your skin protected, hydrated, and glowing all season long
Summer along our coast means sunshine, beach days, and lots of time outdoors. While we love soaking it all in, the intense sun, heat, and humidity can wreak havoc on your skin if you’re not careful. We asked local skin expert Cassi Dambrogio, owner of FACEPOP Skin Clinic, to share her top five tips for maintaining healthy, glowing skin all summer long.
Cassi’s golden rule? Never leave the house without sunscreen. “SPF is your skin’s first line of defense against damage and premature aging,” she says. After a day out, double cleansing helps remove sweat, sunscreen, and makeup to prevent clogged pores and breakouts. And don’t underestimate wearable protection—a sun shirt and wide-brim hat are skincare you can wear.
2. BUILD YOUR SUMMER SKIN UNIFORM
Your go-to summer look should always include a sun shirt, hat, sunglasses, and SPF. Reapply sunscreen every two hours—and definitely after eating or sweating. “People often forget that wiping your mouth can remove sunscreen, which is why pigmentation shows up on the lips,” Cassi explains. If you do get sunburned, reach for soothing products like Beta Gel, Solar Damage, or aloe to start the healing process immediately.
3. WATCH FOR SUMMER SKIN MISTAKES
Cassi often sees an uptick in breakouts during the summer, usually caused by sweat and not properly cleansing after a long day. Another common mistake? Overusing retinoids or strong actives right before spending time in
the sun, which can make skin more sensitive and lead to burns or dark spots.
4. KEEP IT LIGHT AND HYDRATING
In the heat, less is more. “Stick to gentle cleansers, antioxidant-rich serums, hydrating mists, and always SPF,” Cassi advises. Protect your skin barrier and avoid heavy or harsh products. Your skin will thank you.
5. REAPPLY RELIGIOUSLY
No matter the SPF level, sunscreen should be reapplied every two hours—especially before sun exposure. “Apply 15 minutes beforehand to give it time to absorb,” Cassi says. Protective gear is key, and always remember: It’s easier to prevent skin damage than to fix it.

RESILIENCE AND RECOVERY ALONG THE SHORELINE
After enduring the impacts of hurricanes Debbie, Milton, and Helene over the past seasons, the Gulf Coast’s beloved beach communities—Siesta Key, Lido Beach, and Anna Maria Island—are writing a powerful story of resilience, recovery, and renewal.
Each storm brought its own challenges, from dune erosion and infrastructure damage to prolonged power outages and temporary closures. But in the months that followed, local governments, residents, and volunteers came together with extraordinary resolve. Restoration projects—many already underway before the storms—gained renewed momentum, and funding from state and federal sources helped fasttrack dune restoration, re-nourish the beaches, and repair boardwalks and public access points.
On Siesta Key, sand restoration efforts have brought the beach’s powdery white shoreline back to its pristine condition. Lido Beach has seen new dune plantings and seawall enhancements, while Anna Maria Island has restored its iconic beach access paths and reopened favorite local businesses.
What hasn’t changed? The warm hospitality, the vibrant local culture, and the community spirit that define these coastal gems. Locals are not just rebuilding—they’re thriving, and they’re ready to welcome visitors with open arms.

For example, replacing cracked concrete with hardscapes made of premium select brick pavers and natural stones, such as marble or travertine, elevates a functional space to an aesthetically pleasing area to use and enjoy. For spas, they offer heat/cool pumps which create water temperatures that range from 50 to 100 degrees, allowing a spa to function as a cold plunge pool or a warm oasis to relax.
